Audio doesn't transfer from my Sony FX7 to Premiere Pro 4

I have been working on capturing video and audio from my Sony FX7 and haven't had any success with the audio part. I'm transferring DV mode. Please help me figure out what settings need to be on my camera, as well as, in Premiere Pro 4. I'm not a computer wiz.

I have audio when I am capturing from my camera to Premiere pro, but when it is captured, I can't hear it. I hear it from my camera, but I can't hear it when I try using Premiere Pro.
OK, you can hear the Audio in the camera, and can also hear the Audio during Capture. It is once the Capture is complete and the file is in PrPro that the Audio disappears. Is this correct?
Dbl-click on the file in the Project Panel to open it in the Source Monitor and check if the Audio is there.
Also, please list your Input and Output setting in PrPro. Wonder if something is wrong there.
Good luck,
Hunt

Does it not play at all or cannot you get the audio in the timeline?
Did you copy the entire card to the hdd and then imported the file via the Media Browser?
Did you source patch the audio tracks?

  • Converted from Final Cut 7 to Premiere Pro CC

Hello totally awesome community of hard working people who make cool things!
I am converting from Final Cut 7 to Premiere Pro CC. I've been in for 1 day and am impressed that many of the shortcuts are the same.
I have much to learn and am studying every day.
Do you have any recommendations for any great free video tutorial series on this software?
    Thanks!
Check out the film I made with Final Cut 7. I'm excited about Premiere Pro CC because it will save me a lot of time!!

  • Which files do I transfer from external drive to new MacBook Pro?

    Hi there,
My hard drive went bad on my MacBook Pro, but fortunately I did a weekly backup.
Unfortunately, it was not a Cloned back up or a Time Machine backup, so I can't seem to be able to use the Migration Assistant to transfer my files to my new MacBook Pro.
Is there a list of files that I should make sure to copy over?
I know that I need to copy my apps that aren't already native to Mavericks.  Also, most of the files in my User Folder.  Is it wise to copy the entire library in the User Folder, or should I select individual files and folders?  Is there anything else I should look for?
If there is a step by step tutorial on this, and I have somehow missed it, please point me on my way.
    Thanks for any help.

Is it a bad idea to copy things to the library (the one that is located at  macintosh hd/library)?
One thing is for sure...I'll be switching to Time Machine or CCC...this is taking a looooong time.
    So, any ideas out there?
It is too late, but either a bootable clone (I use SuperDuper!) or a Time Machine backup would have made the transition smooth.
I do not know of any "cookbook" approach to help you.
I think I would have reinstalled OS X 10.9.4 and then moved all my data files. I do not know what settings, files, etc. would need to be moved.

  • Inquiring about mpg4 rapping from sony xdcam to premiere pro cs6.

I am currently using a sony ex1r and am trying to import the footage into premiere pro cs6, I copied the file to the desktop (BPAV) file, but the
software premier Pro cs6 keep saying that there is no audio/video files or stream not supported,  i.e. corrupted  files after I tried to use the media Browser. etc.  Is there a better way or can I get some help I tried to see if there are any upgrades in the system  I am curently using verson 6.05 I am not aware if there are any other uptates available. I cannot find anything on line to
correct this situation, are you able to point me in the right direction, you can email me with some way of resolving this situation at  [email protected]

You can download a fully functional demo of Sony Vegas 12 Pro.  That's what I did.  So far I like it and will be making the switch to Sony Vegas 12 Pro.
They also have Suite version which include HitFilm 2 Ulimate.  This program is like After Effects.  I haven't started playing with that yet.
Also, there is Movie Studio 12 Platinum Visual Effects Suite 2.  That's a mouth full.  Anyhow, it is based on Sony Vegas 12 and it comes with HitFilm 2 Express.  The Express version is a stripped down version of HitFilm 2 Ulimate.  The Express version is still a great program for adding effects.  For some people Movie Studio 12 is all they will need,
Both version, Vegas and Movie Studio, have GPU acceleration which is really nice.
I also just picked up Corel PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate.  It sells for $69.95 and it can open and save .PSD files.  So I don't have to worry about all of the .PSD files I saved in Photoshop
Right now I have CS5 and CS6.  Premiere CS6 has a lot of bug, the AVCHD spanning clips, slow motion that jitters, caching problem, slower exports, etc.

  • Sony NXCAM and Premiere Pro CS 5.5.2 crash (Win7)

    Hello,
We recently got a Sony NXCAM. We are shooting in SD only (until next year!), so it's not a problem with any particular HD format. Until we got this camera, we've been using Panasonic P2s exclusively. Our Chief has had good luck with these Sonys (admittedly editing in AVCHD mode and exporting to DVD mostly), so he decided to give one a try for news.
When we first started using the Panasonic P2s, we had a bugger of a time with the video clips coming into premeiere in one stereo clip and us needing it split to mono (because of how we often capture in the field where the on cam mic is for nat sound, while the attached mic is for the actual interview audio - it's recorded to the same clip simply as one side or another). This was also during the days of Premeiere crashing every time you tried to adjust stereo audio gain (has that actually been solved?). Anyway, that's all been solved and the systems have been stable and working fine for the last two-three years aside from the occasional issue with full disk drives (reporters NEVER DELETE ANYTHING, ARG, smash! ).
Up to this month: We have one reporter who has been using this Sony and every time she edits she is experiencing crashes when she adjusts audio (gain, I believe), which of course reminds me of the problem we had with the Panasonics and their MXF wrapped MPEG2 clips. That said, we have the same project settings bringing in the Sony's MPEG2 video with all tracks in mono, and I have a feeling that is what needs to change, I'm just not sure how. It has to be something in how the clips are configured, but I can't figure out what the difference is and more importantly what I need to do to fix it. I am including a screen shot of the GSPOT info on the file. We're using up to date drivers, and Adobe is updated to the lastest version and the system has been working fine for the last two years, except for this one issue of late. We are not using the Sony software to convert the clips simply because we don't have a need to shoot extra long clips, and they join just fine on the timeline if we do, or have so far at least. That and its native format for SD is MPEG2, precisely what we need. Anyway, I'd love some help on this if anyone has any ideas.

As a counterpoint to Harm's perspective, I'll say that I've used Quicktime Pro since early version 6, and I haven't ever had to uninstall or remove it to get Premiere Pro to work, or to work with the QT codecs.  Quicktime has never been a problem for me, and it's been a lifesaver on more than one occasion.
Adobe has some custom QT importers for Premiere Pro that are 64-bit, and you don't need QT installed to take advantage of them.  But if you have clients that can only provide you with MOV files, or that demand MOV files for delivery, then you will need to have Quicktime installed.  Further, some applications like After Effects, (maybe)SonicFire Pro, and Cinema 4D require Quicktime to be installed to take advantage of all their features and plugins, so you can get boxed into the Quicktime corner that way as well.
No need to fear Quicktime.  Just be aware that it can potentially be a source of problems and conflicts with Premiere Pro.  So far, that hasn't been the case for me.

  • Can't Move Audio Clips in Timeline After Expanding to View Waveforms (Premiere Pro CC 2014.2)

So, this seems to be a bit of a weird one, and I'd be pretty stoked if it ended up being something silly that I'm doing wrong, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that might be.
As the title suggests, I can't use the mouse to move some audio clips in a timeline once I expand the track to view the waveforms. This appears to only happen with independent audio clips (WAV. AIFF, MP3, etc), and not with clips attached to video. Also, it's worth noting that I don't have track keyframes turned on. I was hoping that was it, but it wasn't.
    So, what happens is this:
    1) I drag an audio clip down to the timeline (I can drag it onto an existing track, or drag to the bottom of the sequence and create a new track. Neither option seems to get a different result.).
    2) So long as the track isn't expanded and the waveform isn't visible, I can move the clip left, right, or up and down to a different track.
    3) As soon as I expand the track to view the waveform this functionality goes out the window. When this issue happens I can use the keyboard to nudge left and right, but that's about all the movement I have.
    4) It's almost as though the track becomes corrupt. The lanes for the track don't redraw properly, and the track is pretty much unusable. I can't put anything into it, and I can't take anything out. All I can do is delete the track and start again.
Complicating issues is that this doesn't always happen, but instead is one of those "vast majority of the time" issues. I can't see any rhyme or reason for why it works or doesn't. I seem to do the exact same thing, but occasionally get different results. It doesn't matter what type of file I'm using (WAV, AIFF, etc), and this only happens with independent audio clips.
Once again, I don't have track keyframing turned on when this happens. Believe me, I wish that was it.
I have already filed a couple of bug reports about this over the last month or so, but haven't heard anything yet. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue, and if so, whether they had any workarounds.
    Mandatory system info:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 (64-Bit)
    Intel i7-3820
    32GB RAM
    Nvidia GTX 980 (350.12)
    Premiere Pro CC 2014.2

    Update:
I was just looking to post a screenshot of the timeline when I discovered something interesting. As soon as I use the vertical scroll bar to the right of the sequence, the tracks start to work again. Close off the waveform and the clip goes haywire. Move the scroll bar a tiny bit (or a lot), and suddenly the clip starts working.
    Pretty bizarre.
The good news is that for the time being that could be a workaround, though it would be great for this to not happen at all.

  • What is the most efficient way to use Remove Grain from After Effects on large Premiere Pro project?

I've tried to use Dynamic Linking both ways but it doesn't the effects don't appear no matter how dramatic I make them. Why couldn't there just be Remove Grain in Premiere Pro so I wouldn't have to go through the headache of figuring this out. I've tried importing the Premiere Pro project into After effects where everything comes up and, since there's so many files, it doesn't seam feasibly or convenient at all. Trying Dynamic Link vice versa didn't lend results either. What can I do??? Projects range from about a half hour to an hour and a half. Thank you.

The situations are well lit; it might be lack of knowledge on the camera settings itself.
Sort that and your workflow issue dissapears instantly.
    There's nothing more efficient?
Yep...read above... but ...any Plugin. eg Neat Video... will take long processing time.
Fixing grain..actually "noise"...is always an image  degrading process as well.  It blurs!

  • Sony CX115E into Premiere Pro CS3

    Hi all,
I have ordered a Sony CX115E, asking will Premiere Pro CS3 recognise this camera? If not, when I have downloaded my footage onto the hard drive, will I be able to import the footage into Premiere?
    Thank you.

Alas, you will not be able to import or edit the footage as it is AVCHD.
You will either need to upgrade to CS5.5 or get NeoScene from Cineform.

  • Dynamic Link from After Effects CC to Premiere Pro CC Performance Issues

I just updated my After Effects and Premiere Pro to CC and since doing so I've found numerous performance issues.  One that is seriously hurting my workflow is the poor performance of the dynamic link with After Effects compositions into Premiere Pro.   In CS6, you could make a change to the AE composition, save it, click over to Premiere Pro and it would quickly update and you can play your timeline and preview your changes.  You could also move the clips around and add cross dissolves and watch the changes quickly in Premiere Pro CS6.  Now, since updating to CC, if you save the composition in AE and click over to Premiere Pro it won't update on its own.  Sometimes it just shows a single frame of the AE composition.  I found that if you right click and "Edit Original", go into AE and then click back over to Premiere Pro and it will finally update.   But if you make any changes to the placement of the AE composition on the timeline, or add a cross dissolve, fade, etc. it again won't play the AE composition any longer.  After you make any changes to the AE composition you have to right click and go to "Edit Original", go into AE, and then click back over to Premiere Pro.. Then it will finally update.

    Quad Core 3.4GHz
    32G RAM
    OS X Mavericks

    Thanks Kevin.
Unfortunately in my case the export doesn't solve the issue. The video only looks good while in the composition... I've tried exporting it in all the different formats with several codecs, but to no avail...
You can check my own post in the After Effects forum: AE linked composition looks different in Premiere

  • Timecode from .m2t not visible in Premiere Pro CS3

    Hi,
I've done a couple of HDV test captures using OnLocation to create an .m2t file. The DVR in OnLocation correctly displays timecode from the camera (Canon XH-A1) while recording and playing back clips. However, when I import the file into Premiere Pro CS3 I don't see the start time code in the file properties or when bringing up the "Timecode" window (off the file menu). In order to sync multi-camera clips I end up having to manually enter the time code using the info displayed by the OnLocation DVR for that clip.
What am I doing wrong here - I thought that I read somewhere that Premiere Pro would be able to directly read the timecode stamp from the .m2t file?
    /BILLW

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, guys, but as I'm just starting my transition to tapeless I'm having the same issue.  I'm recording to both tape and to the MRC1k on my Z5s; the TC comes in fine when I capture the tape, but all the transferred/imported m2t files from the MRC1k all start at zero.  Normally I wouldn't care, but the main reason I dumped all my old cams and bought four Z5s with MRC1ks was for the ability to do real time of day free run timecode and sync the four cams together via TC LINK, while still going tapeless, for supposedly easy multicam sync by timecode on the timeline.
Using DVMP Pro I was able to confirm that the clips do in fact have the correct timecode on them (but no values in Properties for Prem Start and such).
Anyhow, anyone figured this out yet?
