Audio Ease Altiverb+Speakerphone

Hi I would like to know if Altiverb 6 & Speakerphone plays nice with Logic Pro 8?
Thanks!
Paul

I don't have Speakerphone yet, but I use Altiverb daily and it is great. The only time it has given me any pops or clicks or what have you is when I've left the buffer at 64ms, sometimes I forget to change it back to a higher value for mixing from tracking.

  • Audio effect for speakerphone

Can anyone recommend an audio effect within Premiere to add to a wav clip of someone's voice in order to simulate the sound of a speakerphone?

    I downloaded and installed Audacity.
However, right now there is a Soundbooth tutorial I found for a phone effect(not speakerphone) which I'd like to test out in Soundbooth.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zABCrVY8R18
On the Adobe site, the trial download is for CS5 which isn't out yet.
I downloaded a trial version of SB CS4 from www.softpedia.com/ but when doubleclicking on it Windows asks "what's the program I want to open it with?". The file name is ADBESBTHCS4_LS7.7z  . I don't know if that's supposed to be an executable file or not.  It mentions on www.softpedia.com/ that it is the TRIAL version.
I have the DVDs for Adobe Creative suite 4 but it starts out loading the whole suite. I just want to try SB CS4.
How do I get a trial version of Soundbooth CS4?

  • IOS 6.1.4 released for iPhone 5 Adds an Updated Audio Profile for Speakerphone

Apple has just released an Over the Air update for the iPhone 5.  It seems to only provide an updated audio profile for the speaker phone.  Nothing else listed in the change log.
I would assume  that there will be an iTunes downloadable  update available shortly.

It obviously is because you didnt understand. The iphone 4's last update to IOS 6.1.3 in some cases caused the phones speakers to not work (in which this happened to mine and a few people I know) which some people got rid of their phones. HENCE the AUDIO UPDATE that they recently posted but only iPhone 5 can download the update. That is my problem. I have alot of apple products diesel vdub and have had apple for a long time but I can't seem to understand why they would do this and I posted this in hopes to find more people that have had this issue and if they did anything to help fix it this issue. Thank you for your concern though.

  • Altiverb 6 not working in Logic/ Mountain Lion

I just bought the new 27" iMac and used Migration Assistant to transfer over all my stuff from the old iMac. In the past this has always proved successful, but I'm experiencing some problems with Logic. Specifically, Altiverb ( 6 ) won't work, no matter what I try, and I've done all the usual  Audio Ease-recommended "tricks", like opening Logic in 32 Bit and manually getting the AU manager to pass Altiverb. In the past this always worked, but not so in Mountain Lion. In fact I tried downloading Altiverb and the IR installer, to reinstall, but they refuse install in Mountain Lion! I keep getting error messages on both counts. So far, so bad, then.In all other respects Logic seems to be fine, though I haven't actually run it yet; but I mean that other third party plugins work fine.
So, while I'm waiting for a reply from Audio Ease support, I wondered if anyone out there had an answer to what might be happening here, please? It's puzzling and annoying. I heard bad things about ML and Logic, but, then, I also heard that everything is OK from other quarters. Right now, I'm on the fence, because other plugins seem fine, though the Kontakt Memory Server doesn't want to work in ML right now.
I understand that one will usually encounter some issues when starting out on a new OS, but I really never had any problems like this in the past, even when using Migration Assistant....
    Thanks..

It is entirely the decision of the 3rd-party software developer - hence, his responsibility - which OS and its versions his software or plug-in is compatible with.
You are mentioning that you have contacted them, and that's the best, if not the only, thing you can do other than sit and wait.
The other way around, if you depend on 3rd-party software or plug-ins, it's always wise to make sure that their versions are up-to-date and fully functional with a new OS before you switch to it. Sorry, but you having been lucky in the past doesn't mean it must always be so. And sorry again, but you can't blame Mountain Lion or Apple for it...

  • Audio Problems w/ ThinkStation S10 and Ubuntu/Mint/Suse

ThinkStation S10 6483-27U (onboard audio through Intel chipset, I think the codec is Analog Devices 1988)
Problem: no audio from internal speaker under Ubuntu 8.10 (32 or 64 bit); Mint 6 (32 bit); or OpenSuSE 11.1 (32 or 64 bit).  I do get audio from front speakerphone jack and rearspeaker jacks.  Internal speaker audio works fine under PC-BSD and Windows Visa.
Attempted solutions that don't work: followed all directions on Ubuntu howto (per https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting); follow "Rob's" directions at http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=Special_Interest_Linux&thread.id=316&view=by_dat... (recompiled and reinstalled ALSA) and most of what's on the SuSE boards (at http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AudioTroubleshooting).
Anyone using any of these three with working audio on an S10?
    Thanks.

    i found a solution at linux-tested
    http://www.linux-tested.com/results/lenovo_s10_6423-27u.html
you need only to change the modprobe.d/alsa.conf and add these lines:
    alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
    options snd-card-0 index=0
    options snd-hda-intel index=0
    options snd-hda-intel model=6stack-dig

  • 1st Generation Mac Pro 2.66 dual Core(4 cores total) 5gigs of RAM

I'm still on Logic 8/Tiger. All running very well. Typical projects run about 30 tracks. Use lots of Vi's Omnisphere, Trillian, and RMX included.
Wanting to move to 10.6.2/Logic 9.1. Is my first generation Mac Pro up for the upgrade? Will I still have plenty of juice?
4 drives(OS, audio, samples, and backup)
    Thanks for any input!

I also have a similar set-up but with 8 GB's RAM. I kept the old HDD with the Leopard 10.5.8 and Logic 9.02. Installed a new HDD then did the upgrade. To be honest, it was a PAINFUL process re-loading in all of the software plus updating the software! But, for me at least (knock on wood), I've had no problems with Snow Leopard and Logic 9.1. My first "test" was to run my lastes sequencing project which has a total of 30 virtual instruments and plug-ins from various companies (Kontakt 2.5 Player, Music Lab, "External Instruments", Audio Ease's Altiverb, Universal Audio plug-ins) and all worked well. Now, to be very clear, please realize that this was only 1 "test". But I noticed right-away better usage of the CPU than the previous version. For the previous versions (Leopard 10.5.8 with Logic 9.02) of this one "test" I had to set the buffer to 512 in order to do a problem-free mix-down. But with the upgrade of Snow Leopard/Logic Pro combo, I was able to mix down this project with a buffer setting set to 128. (I'm quite happy with that setting.)
FYI, I'm using Logic Pro 9.1 in 32-bit mode. I tried the 64-bit mode, but some of my plug-ins didn't work in that mode (Music Lab's RealStrat and RealLPC, which I tend to use frequently.) But I'm happy using 32-bit mode, especially using Native-Instrument's Kontakt 4.04. Again, all works well.
Just thought I would share a positive experiece with the upgrades. Good luck with your decision.

  • I am having trouble using reverb of any kind; it does not sound natural, but rather "pixilated." Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? I have used Silververb and Space Designer and am having the same problem...

I am using Logic Pro 9 with two MXL 990 microphones in my piano and a Rode NT1A for vocals. I have tried recording with added reverb and keeping getting not a natural reverb sound, but a rather "pixilated" one that does not sound natural. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue? I have tried using Silververb and Space Designer, and both result in the same problems. Thank you!

This is asking for the impossible! It does not sound natural because maybe it isn't and in judging so whats your reference anyway. If you are in dire need of some natural sounding room you can go and record it yourself. But even then, the chances that it sounds like you imagined it, are very slim.
There are very decent sounding reverberation plugins, based on artificial reverb generators or convolution-style, the last one is said to sound more 'natural' then the first one. Be it as it maybe, it really is like cooking food. You got all the ingredients for this delicious taste at hand and believe it or not to reach a satisfying result this is not enough, because if you do not mix the ingredients in the right proportion you will end up with a different dish you thought you'll get. This is exactly the same when one would mix audio, I dare say.
So treat yourself to some good ingredients and the rest is up to you, namely: taste and experience!
And looking at some of my past music productions I always find the same plugins for the 'ambient' task:
Altiverb by Audio Ease when I have acoustic ensembles (classical music mostly), the Sony Oxford Reverb in studio productions, Bricasti when I have to deal with drums and MMultiBandReverb from MeldaProduction for all-round stuff. Thats the base I start from, after that I can end up with dozen Reverb plugins which basically all are doing the same thing but just in a tiny different way.

  • Here's a weird one: DAE + DTDM

A couple of months after Logic Pro 7.2.3 was released I felt confident in the posts I was reading about it and decided to upgrade. Well it wasn't too long before it was obvious that it was not working well for me - glitches, quitting, generally unstable - so I uninstalled it and went back to 7.2.1. Since then LP has been fairly reliable but I have wanted to enjoy the benefits of all 4 processors and thought I would look into upgrading again. I had previously been using OS X 10.4.6 since Pro Tools 7.1 was not qualified past that version, but now it is qualified for 10.4.8 so I upgraded the OS and LP and Pro Application support at the same time.
    Then something very strange happened.
I had finished working on a cue which used mostly DTDM instances of EXS24 and a few DAE tracks for vocals and reverbs. The master DAE output 1-2 had a Waves L1 on it and everything seemed fine. After shutting down my system and booting up the next day, the same song which had played perfectly the day before was now only playing out of the left side. Further investigation showed that all DTDM objects were only coming out of the left while all DAE objects were coming out in stereo. I removed the L1 from the master output but no change. I switched all of my tracks to come out of output 3-4 and now everything played in stereo. I worked like this until the end of the day and then inserted an L1 on output 3-4 and the right side disappeared again. I bounced without the L1 and shutdown. The next day I did a test and found that I could not insert an L1 on out 3-4 without losing the right side but when I switched all tracks back to out 1-2 I could use the L1 fine.
This has never happened before and I'm wondering if for some reason LP 7.2.3 is just not happy on my system.
I read a post where someone mentioned that Pro Tools 7.3cs3 was the most stable combination with LP they have seen in awhile. Anyone else have this experience?
    Thanks,

I read a post where someone mentioned that Pro Tools 7.3cs3 was the most >stable combination with LP they have seen in awhile. Anyone else have this >experience?
It's been running pretty good here. (10.4.9)
To operate Audio suite plug-ins is much smoother than before.
    No strange error anymore.
We get severe distorion from the DTDM sounds ...
This seems to be caused by "Stream Manager" for EXS24 TDM.
Indigos (Virus) use DSP but EXS24s use stream manager.
This is the most buggy part of Logic TDM.
Keep some DAE Aux tracks for EXS24 TDM for all your songs.
Whenever you get the distotion (most likely it happens when loading new large presets or reset Multi in Kontakt2 or loading more loops in Stylus RMX),
simply instanciate EXS24 TDM on Aux track or do opposit way.
This fix the problem right away so that I always have DAE Aux track with EXS24 right next of Kontakt2 track in arrange window.
This bug is almost nothing. No big deal.
Newer version of Reactor5 was little bit buggy. I deleted the preference of the plugin and it fixed the problem.
Eventide reverb (part of AnthologyII) gets "DAE error 7053" when I change presets during playback. This bug is also almost nothing.
Altiverb XL TDM v6.0.7 cause "internal signal loop by itself. This bug was sooo bad and I had no clue how to fix. I re-installed v6.0.6 and it does not cause the problem. (mono version of v6.0.7 on Aux track did not cause this error but I went back to previous version anyway bucause I want use it on Bus track)
This plugin does not show the name and Audio Ease said it's Logic's bug.
(hard to beleive it bucause all other TDM plugin does not have this problem.)
To instanciate Waves L3 LL TDM sometimes does not show the interface.
Simply double click the plugin to re-open to fix. No big deal at all.
Sometime my Logic does crash and I think it is most likely caused by stream manager and Kontakt2. (my $0.02)
DTDM section is basically very stable and I see no bugs.
I usually don't think about these bugs and finish lots of project without crash.

  • Space designer and Reverb with EWQL Goliath samples

I'm currently using Logic 9 for sequencing.
Alot of the samples I use in recording are from EW-QL Goliath as a plugin for Logic.
Given the 'Play' engine has a reverb facility and other kinds of articulations and effects you can apply is there much use to using Space designer in Logic? I'm not sure if Play Engines is vastly superior or not.
Would it be better to simply set up the reverb within the Play engine and then record to in Logic OR record an unaltered sample (e.g. violin) from Play and then add reverb using space designer/ Logic's other reverb plugins?
Perhaps using them both in conjunction even?
I am writing alot of orchestral music at the moment so trying to decide on how to apply reverb to my tracks at the moment.
    Thanks.

This is asking for the impossible! It does not sound natural because maybe it isn't and in judging so whats your reference anyway. • Changing from 32 bit to 64?

i,m new to logic 9 and i noticenot all of my a.u.s seem to be available (third party) i was wondering if i should work in 64 bit mode then maybe all of my plug ins will be there?

I primarily use Logic Pro for sequencing projects and, with my current set-up, live in 64-bit mode 100% of the time. I mostly do software-based orchestral work (when I have the time to compose and sequence). Thankfully, most of *Native-Instrument's software* has been updated to 64-bit mode. This includes, of course, *Kontakt 4* which is a really big deal for me. Most of my instrumental software libraries utilizes the Kontakt 4 format. Also Garritan's Aria player (which houses the updated versions of GPO, JABB, *Steinway Piano*, etc.) now functions in 64-bit mode. Finally (because I don't play guitar at all), *Music Lab* has its guitar libraries ( RealStrat, RealLPC, and RealGuitar ) available in 64-bit mode as beta-versions which are all working fine for me (so far, knock on wood).
With the exception of one reverb effect library which I really like (Altiverb by Audio Ease), I don't need to use the 32-bit bridge. Otherwise, I use Logic's own effects plug-ins which meet my very modest needs. When I do use the 32-bit bridge, it works just fine (so far, knock on wood).
I know that there are lots and lots of popular plug-ins that people use that haven't been updated to 64-bit yet. Hopefully they will be updated. But it seems that some software companies are getting on the "64-bit bandwagon". As for me, I'm finally living happily in 64-bit land. For the most part, my modest needs are met.
Just want to share a positive experience.

  • VHS Sound distortion - Audition CS6

    Hi,
I'm trying to create VHS sound effects on a line of dialogue for a short film but have no idea where to start.
The original audio track is crisp and clean: recorded on a Sennheisser lapel mic with a Roland 26. I'm using Adobe CS6 for all post work (edit, VFS, sound editing and mixing).
I'm looking to achieve something like this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0iMqdOqymA#t=1m20s
So lots of distortion, disonnances, low-fi quality, non linear in time. But, keep in mind that the effects will be applied to a line of dialogue (which last 3 seconds); and not a music track like the video above.
My sound editing knowledge is quite limited so I haven't managed to get anything really convincing... I've used and tweaked Doppler effects, Flangers and Low-fi EQ effects but not in a good enough maner. And I'm probably missing other effects that could help sell the effects.
If you have any idea on how to pull it off, I'm all ears!
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

The things that characterised VHS sound (well the poor stuff) were mild pitch irregularities caused by the tape running so slowly (these usually came out as capstan flutter), very little HF content above about 4kHz (also directly attributable to low speed running and linear audio), level compression, and about 5% distortion. Other than that lot, it was wonderful...
For three seconds of dialogue, the pitch variations won't be so important (less audible than with music), but it might be worth attempting to program very small but rapid pitch  shifts into Audition's pitch shifter. An initial experiment reveals that for speech, you'd probably want about a 25 cent shift up and down, several times a second. You can program that into the manual pitch shifter quite easily, and even save it as a preset. In 'special' you can add distortion - once again a small amount about half way up one of the diagonals, and set the smoothing to taste. The speech volume leveler will take care of the inevitable compression - once again you have to program to taste, and the Parametric Eq will let you taper the frequency response so that no HF gets through.
Yes it's going to take you a little while, but when I looked at the cost of Audio Ease Speakerphone (it can't be worth what they charge, surely?), it's going to be worth it, I'd say.

  • Iphone 6 Sound Issue

    Hi
I have Iphone 6 . I just brought one from ATT. I was getting poor reception with iPhone 6 audio system . Speakerphone was worse. I was able to hear the other party speaking but person on the other end was not able to hear at all.
I went to ATT and returned the phone. I got new one from Apple store. Interestingly , it has the same problem. Fortunately the problem is not there with third party application like Viber . I have updated later I0S 8.02.
I believe it is the problem with IOS 8. Do you same problem too!!

  • LOGIC CRASHES ALL THE TIME

    HELP!!!
Is it possible I over loaded with plug-ins? I layered one track with four of the same baseline?
If this is the case why did it work before I rebooted and why are other sessions suddenly also crashing... HELP!!!! I googled and googled and I am sadly stuck..
    Thank you

right and to add to this, if you're using Logic's plugins they're AU only, so you messed with AU to VST and I have a feeling you're doing other things which are probably a no no. So either you did just use Logic stuff only, and those are AU, or you grabbed some plugins besides Melodyne Uno which are VST plugins not available in AU format and tried to make things work and now you're crashing.
I run A LOT of plugins, from manufacturers like iZotope, URS, UA, Waves, Focusrite, DUY, Celemony (Melodyne Studio and Plugin in fact), Audio Ease, FXPansion, Apogee, Euphonix and never have a crash or as much as a bleep. What I do do though is keep up to date, get the latest versions of what they have to offer and keep my system stable, clean, optimized and checked with Disk Warrior every so often.

  • Why does Logic have valitadion problems with soem AU's?

    Hello,
I have a number of AU's I use in Garageband that work fine but Logic 9 won't load them saying it cannot validate them. Also on a seperate note after I updated to Snow Leopard yesterday a few more AU's would not validate?
Are there validation solutions to this problem?
    Thanks

I've just purchased the upgrade from SP1 to SP2. Downloaded the new version. Updated my iLok account and synchronized iLok. I'm using MacBook with 10.5.7 and Logic Pro (9), 2.4 GHz Intel Duo, 2GB Ram. When I go to Logic preferences to update AU validations it shows SP2 validated, but when I apply the plugin to a channel in Logic, it says my iLok is not authorized and it automatically prompts me to "re-authorize" SP2 and takes me through the iLok authorization process again.
On this same laptop, I also have Cubase 4, Ableton Live, and Pro Tools M-Powered installed. SP2 will open just fine as a VST in all of the above applications except Logic 9. Ableton also has the option of using either AU or VST. If the choose the AU version in Ableton, it also prompts me to authorize my iLok. It seems to me it is an AU issue since the VSTs are working fine. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, SP2 is Speakerphone2 from Audio Ease.

  • 96k Space Designer impulses ?

Since all the factory presets for Space Designer default to "sample rate/2" in a 96k project, I'm assuming the factory impulses are all at 44.1k ?
Any chance there are higher sampling rate versions of these factory impulses hidden somewhere ?
Guessing the answer is "No" ...

I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere, maybe the Audio Ease website, that there's really no need to sample reverbs at anything about 48khz, as reverberations rarely contain frequencies over 18khz anyway.
Makes sense. On the other hand, I'm guessing running a 44.1k impulse in a 96k session requires at minimum a realtime sample rate conversion, which will probably degrade the performance of the original impulse.
Not to mention that a 44.1k sample in a 96k session won't necessarily use less CPU... possible that it uses more than a 96k impulse running at the native sample rate. I haven't tried to test.
Probably splitting hairs here, but I'm curious...
