Audio fails and movie hacks alot

All movies with suffix .mpg and .mov doesn't work anymore in QT 7.1.3.
There's no sound and it hacks alot. .avi works just fine and divx. Anyone else having the same problem? The weirdest thing is that all sounds in Microsoft Entourage is gone. I think this problem appeared right after the last security update. Does it ring any bells with anyone here? I can't be the only one!

I found the answer!

  • 5.1 audio files and movies no sound!!!

I did a test already. The 5.1 audio still play through ATV 1 but do not play on ATV 2. anyone else have these problems. These are 5.1 Dts audio files. They have always worked on the ATV 1. Also, certain movies that have Dolby digital have no sound on ATV 2 but they play fine on ATV 1. I have turned the audio setting on ATV 2 to Dolby digital "on" it's not set to auto. Anyone have any fixes?

Well on my yamaha receiver it says DTS when playing these audio files. I know it's not officially supported but DTS does work...these are 5.1 audio DVD files I believe. I got them from a friend. But anyway they still work on old apple tv but not new one. I have no idea why that is. They must have changed something in that little black box. Thanks for the response hope we can figure this out....

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

  • Airplay Audio for TV Shows and Movies

I just purchased Airport Express for Airplay using my MacBook Pro, iTunes and iHome speakers. My music and radio stations on iTunes stream to the speakers with no problems. The audio for TV shows and movies on iTunes will not stream. Airplay is set for my iHome speakers and the audio only comes through on my computer speakers. I'm watching the movies/tv shows on my computer, not streaming to a TV. Any suggestions?

  • Trying to import .mov audio file and burn as MP3

Can someone point me to a thread, or be kind enough to post answer, about how I might successfully import a .mov audio file and wind up burning it as an MP3. I've been dinking around with this for too long. I can import it and end up with it in the format: MPEG-1, Layer 3. But when I burn it to CD and play it on a Sony boom box, I hear nothing. I tried playing it in another iMac and hear nothing.
    Thanks.

I was hoping someone in this forum could point me in the right direction to a web site that is designed specifically for Garage Band users that need sound effects.
    Check out:

    These both are GarageBand-oriented.

  • Linked video and audio do not move together on timeline

Hello, I have been working in a project for a couple of days and cannot find out why the video and audio do not move together when one of them is dragged laterally on the timeline. They are linked yet do not move together. I seem to remember one of the first clips I dragged down to the timeline did what it should but they do not behave as they should. If I click on both clips the only option is unlink. When I move one part in the timeline it shows me how much they are out of sync.Any ideas?

Willy, the procdedure you describe works perfectly for AppleTV G1. In fact, I frequently play DTS music discs ripped to my iTunes library as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and synched to the ATV. What happens is that, as far as iTunes and the ATV are concerned, a conventional stereo 16/44 audio file is being played; however my reciever detects the DTS data stream, and instead of outputting static, it decodes the 5.1 channels correctly. This process parallels the way DTS discs were designed to be played back: a conventional CD player is connceted, via digital out, to a DTS-aware reciever/pre-amp and the two channels of static are recognized as 6 channels of DTS-encoded audio.
However this process will only work if the player (CD, ATV, PC, etc.) sends a "bit-perfect" 16 bit/44.1 khz data stream to the decoding device. In the case of ATV G2 and G3, as has been discussed elsewhere, the unit resmaples all audio - including 16/44 PCM (Redbook CD)  - to 16/48. While this is not a big deal for conventional audio CDs, MP3s, and AAC files, it mangles the fragile DTS datastream and renders it undecodable. The resulting static that you hear is just like the static you would hear if you played a DTS CD on a non-DTS capable system.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any easy way around this. You could use a program like Foobar (and the DTS plugin) to convert your DTS CDs to 6-ch .wav or .flac file. From there you could transcode the file to AC-3 and then mux it into a video container that ATV supports. You may need add a dummy video track, for iTunes/AppleTV to be ok with the file, though I'm not sure. This may be a lot of work.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish that the iTunes/ATV ecosystem had better multi-channel audio support.

  • IWeb, audio and movie films not loading correctly

I have a personal website and want to upload some audio and movie files to it.
I created the website through my iMac's iWeb software.
I followed the instructions in the help manual and loaded the six audio files and four movie files, they all loaded correctly, however, when I logged onto my website, I can see the files there but not the playing controls.
I contacted the support dept of my domain host, and they informed me that this is a script/coding issue.
Can anyone provide any help on how I resolve this?
    Thanks

yes, for some reason it seemed like at times I had to click twice, but they worked. I'll try agian

  • Embed audio and movie into pdf

Since acrobat pro 9 is not available for mac I don't understand why Apple can't embed audio and movie into pdf. This is a really needed feature. Oh and also creating spreads in pages09 is needed as well. I want to use pages to create ebooks with audio and movie data etc come on Apple get it sorted .. You have an amazing program here and could clout Adobe on the head if you implemented these features.

  • Why does lightroom 3.3 delete files it 'fails' to move? and why does it fail?

I'm in the process of moving a bunch of images around between machines, so from a remote machine I copied 10gb or so of .cr2, .jpg and .thm files into a temporary holding location on a local sata drive. I then started an import on the machine from the temporary holding location to the location I wanted the files at (which is a drive different than the temporary location). Lightroom trundled along for quite a while. Then reported to me that it had failed to move some files (The list was ALL the files).
I went to look at the temporary holding location on the boot drive and all the files were gone. I looked at the location I tried to import them to, and they were in fact there. HOWEVER they were not added to the catalog in lightroom!

    Greetings..
I'm not sure what you mean by "force LR to import..."
It all depends on your work flow, and how you use LR, not any forcing.  For example, I use keywords and collections.  I organize my photos in the _folders_ by the method I mentioned.  Then use collections to make up my groupings and sorted images.  As for importing, every photograph taken has at least the date taken in it, and LR import options have a lot of different ways to use that date to import them.  I selected one that works for me, and then just have to select the MajorProject as the toplevel folder on the import destination.  LR creates all of the underlying folders.
I then use the Move option, and LR will move all of my images from the source directory into the destination.  Note:  This will not work from a portable drive, due to LR not being allowed to delete images from portable disks.  You'd have to use Copy, and delete the originals after you've seen them in their new home.
Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you renamed your files, or was that a byproduct of how you did it?  I try not to rename my images, if possible.  I know that having multiple images with the same name causes some problems with a few export modules (I updated one, and had to recreate my export collection.  It took the first file by that name it found, which, of course, turned out not to be the correct image).
The key here of course, is to keyword your images.  I now have several ways to search for images;  those taken by date, by project, and of course by keywords.
    Cheers!

  • How to make a movie from an audio file and 1 static image?

    Hi,
I want to make a movie that it is basically an 8 minutes audio file and I want to have a background picture that is static and stays there during the whole 8 minutes of my audio.
    How can I do that?
I'm able to add the audio and the picture, however I can't stretch the picture to 8 minutes.
    My iMovie version is 5.0.2
    Thanks,
    Martin

Hi mcanovas - Simply duplicate the picture as many times as needed. In the Photos pane you can extend the pic to 30 seconds, so duplicate that 16 times and there you go!
I hope the audience will stay focused

  • HT4016 How to extract audio from a movie that is already in my project without having to delete and re-import the movie?

    The article is
"How to extract audio from a movie file"
But it only tells you how to extract when you first drag the movie file into the project.  This much is obvious when a dialog presents you with a checkbox asking if you want to "Extract the audio track" ... Duh
    Here was my workflow:
Dragged the movie file into my project
I checked "Extract the audio track"
I shifted the "Movie Start Time"
Extracted audio track did not shift with the movie
I deleted the extracted audio and played the audio directly from the movie
Now, I need the audio extracted again at the current movie position
I knew where this option was in the Logic 9 menus, but I'm having trouble finding it in Logic X
Is this option still available, or has it been removed?

    Solved:
I found the menu option for extracting or re-extracting the movie audio.  BTW, the original article:
Logic Pro 9.1: How to extract audio from a movie file in 64-bit mode
should really also state the menu command for extracting the audio, not just the procedure when first adding the movie to the project.
    Here's the menu command:
    File>Movie>Import Audio from Movie

  • Export Audio to QT Movie -- Expected Behavior and Other Questions

In the past I've reported that the Export Audio to QT Movie function didn't work correctly in LP 7.1.1. Well, it still doesn't seem to work correctly, but this time around I'm at least getting some kind of result. It would be kinda cool if I could get it to work according to play.
I'd like to get comments on this procedure, i.e., what kind of behavior should I expect; am I doing something wrong, etc.
    • The movie (25 minutes long) starts with a 19-second slug (no timecode burn) followed by first picture with timecode burn starting at 00:00:19:00
    • Movie Start Time = 00:00:00:00.01 (the extra bit is to work around a bug)
    • SMPTE time for bar 1 1 1 1 = 00:00:19:00
    • L & R locators set to the position & length of audio I want to export to the movie (L = bar 1 and R = bar 14)
    • Cycle = ON
    • Selected a single region of audio (track 1, outputs 1/2)
When I invoked the export function, I was presented with a dialog:
Immediately I notice that there is no 24-bit option (comments?)
    Then I encountered this message:
The file listed there is the dialog track for the movie. No problem there. Now, keeping in mind that my file is only 13 measures long (at a fairly fast tempo),
Logic then performed a very long "bounce" procedure, followed by a long "converting" procedure, followed by a "saving" procedure (in which it was writing the new QT movie file).
In the resulting movie (which BTW was the full length of the film) the audio was waaaaaaay out of sync. But aside from that, is it normal to expect that the full-length of the film will be exported? I was expecting that perhaps only the first 13-measures-worth of movie would be exported. (comments?)
So I tried again. This time I moved the song end marker to bar 14 and invoked the export function. I got all of the same dialogs as above, but the "bounce" procedure took no time at all. Neither did the "converting" procedure. I expected this, as now Logic was set to think that the song was only 14 measures long. But the "saving" procedure took as long as last time.
In the resulting movie (which was again the full length of the film), the audio was again out of sync, though not by much. Still unusable tho. Again, should I expect that only a short clip of the movie would be exported? Or, should I expect the full length movie to be saved? (comments?)
    -=iS=-
P.S. BTW, the reason my movie start time is set to 00 and not 19 seconds is because... well, that's the subject of another thread, but save to say that the above settings were the only way I could get first picture to line up with bar 1 of my song.

    Thanks for your reply George.
I normally use QT Pro to embed audio into picture also. Thought I'd try this route one more time tho.
Regarding my movie start time, I'm finding that if I set my movie start time to 19 seconds (where the burn-in first becomes visible, and which is indeed 19 seconds into the film), my SMPTE offset has to be 38 seconds. This means that Logic's t/c counter doesn't jibe with the film. So to make it so I have to enable the SMPTE view offset in the synchronization pane. But enabling it there doesn't automatically switch it on for the Giant SMPTE counter transport display.
Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I'll try the settings you suggested and see if that makes a difference.
Bouncing a chunk of movie always works perfectly here <<</div>
Can you clarify something? I know you said that you end up with a null file when you try the export thing, but in your above statement, did you mean that when you've tried this that it did in fact export a chunk of the movie, but without audio?
    Cheers!
