Audio in iWeb

I am trying to insert a widget/flash player; specifically an audio player.  Things like Yahoo Web Player look great; there are also other sites that provide code to plug into the "HTML Widget" in iWeb (3.0.4).  Problem is; in that code they need a ROOT URL in addition to my file url.  What do I need to do?  Can someone please provide a step-by-step?  Below is an html to get to one of my audio files; how can I insert it into a clean player (yahoo if I can)

(Please hold off on the iWeb hosting on mobile me is going away discussion)

Here's how I do it :

You can add hyperlinks to audio files anywhere on your iWeb page and the JavaScript will find them.
Note that MP3 files may not play with Safari.
URLs are what you need. This it how an URL looks :

  • Embedding Audio in iWeb

How do I embed an audio file?

    Then use Flash.
You can download the video too, but as they say, ignorance is the best protection.
Here is a sample to embed what you want. Then proceed to the other pages for details.

but I have no idea what I'm talking about at this point, haha
Then stick to what you do know about.
Anyway, you want a one size fits all window? A bit of [searching would have found it|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6948983#6948983].

Drag the lower righthand corner of your browser window.
It cannot be done with iWeb.

  • Streaming Audio on iWeb

Is there any software out there that will allow you to have streaming audio through your iWeb and web server? I know I have seen sites that had live audio, but was wondering what kind of software I would need to get and if iWeb has that kind of capability.

  • Using audio in iweb with no image

i'm designing my new website with iweb, basically to promote myself and my music
i plan on having a portfolio section, where people can listen to tracks and watch movies ive made. by dragging in movies from the media bar it comes out nicely, with the movie and a bar across the bottom for play, pause, etc.
but, when i do the same with audio, it has a big screen with 'please drag image here' or something. how do i get rid of this? i just want the bar with play, pause etc and nothing else to play the track.
    can anyone help?
    thanks alot

    Ashley:
That "please drag image here" will not show if you don't put an image in it. Section B of this demo page shows what it looks like in iWeb and after publishing. So position the object so the control bar is where you want it and publish.
You might look at Roddy McCay's site for a way to show your music. He uses a flash player and it's pretty slick. His Jukebox page uses a flash jukebox. He's made many posts in this forum on where and how to set one up. Definitely worth a look at since the flash is quicker to load than a page of many audio tracks. Just search the iWeb site for Roddy's posts.

  • Embeding Audio in iWeb 1.1.2 with XSPF

    Calling all iWeb pros!
I am very interested in a detailed and layman's version of how to go about implementing XSPF across an iWeb site. I am a pretty advanced user of macs and iLife in general, but I know squat about coding and HTML,XML etc...
    I found these tutorials online:
    http://www.boutell.com/xspf/
    http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/stu/ahanley/music/help.htm
    http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/
however, I could use some definite hand-holding to show me how it's done.
Any help or assistance, be it a better method, a walkthrough, or whatever - would be most appreciated.

    newmacguru,
Thanks for the link. That and the wimpy player have been my best leads so far. I could still use some assistance in the how-to's when publishing to .Mac. I think I can pull it off using a FTP site, but would like to stick with .Mac if I can help it (since I already use it). Thanks.

  • No audio on iweb

I made a movie using quicktime pro 7. Movie was made up of 3 mpeg from digital camera. Problem is after I share to my .mac site the video plays without audio. Why did the audio not up load?

QuickTime Pro can't extract audio from muxed formats (MPEG 1 or 2 and Flash).
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert .mpg to .mov formats.

  • Error message when I try to publish an iWeb photo album with audio to Mobileme:

I get the following error message when trying to publish a photo album with audio from iWeb to Mobileme.  I've checked my account and I have plenty of available space on Mobileme and have logged in there.
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/qg/qg-Qwo-82RWdDU+8ZNhusU+++TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.i Web_9121_TEMP_344183369_3/sites/Site/Grand_Canyon_11_Slideshow_part_1_2_files/or iginal_2.jpg”. Try publishing again later.
Is there a problem with my photos or other content (I've added some songs to play in the slideshow)
    Dan H.

First see if you can publish your site to a folder on your hard drive.  You can select the folder by clicking on the site's folder in iWeb and using the Publish To: menu.
If that's successful try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Can I Set Up an iWeb Link To Play Audio?

I'd like to be able to set up a hyperlink on my web site using iWeb so that a viewer clicking this link will be able to hear an extended narration (just audio not video). Can I do that?
Also, rather than move some photos from my desktop into iPhoto and then into iWeb as I construct my site, can I just drag the photos directly into iWeb?
    Dave

There are several ways to add audio to a web page.
1 - just drag the audio file onto the page and place where you want it. Ignore the "Drag photo here" area as it doesn't show unless you put a photo in it.
2 - upload the audio track to the server and link to it there with a flash player or HTML5 audio player. This demo page has some examples of flash players: Audio Players. Other mehtods are demonstrated in this test page: More Audio
3 - Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site has the more comprehensive tutorials on audio in iWeb. Go to his page HTML5 Players and Music Players.
Yes you can just drag a photo onto an iWeb page from the Finder, resize and position it where you'd like. Remember that some themes add a frame to photos added that way and if you want to remove the frame or change it use the Inspector/Graphic pane to change or remove it:

  • Adding audio without video

When I drag in an audio clip iWeb sees it as a video clip and wants to add a photo. Does anyone have a way to add audio only without making it an .mov file?

  • How come I-Tunes won't let me subscribe to my IWeb podcast?

This is what I have been trying to do. My website is hosted on a Linex server running Apache. I created a podcast using Garageband 3, then tried to figure a workaround because I have no .mac account. Tried RSS Buddy, but couldn't get the podcast to work properly. So then I sent the audio to IWeb and saved the podcast to folder and uploaded it to my website using Adobe GoLive. The podcast now plays at http://www.songsfromtheword.com/Audio/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html
Then running ITunes 6, I opened the Advanced windows and tried to "subscribe to podcast" listing the URL to the rss.xml file. When I tried to test it through ITunes, it says it can't find the .mp4a file, even after I moved it on the server to the place ITunes said it could't find it at.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found out the problem was caused by creating a folder for the podcast exported by IWeb. When I let IWeb export it into my website folder, it worked!

  • Duplicate audio information

    Buenas tardes,
    Gracias

    Hi Lin,
    1. I use Adobe Creative Cloud and check for updates everyday before I startup Prelude. I am not sure what version I was using 4 months ago, but I am using at this time the most current version.
    2. I did transcode the H.264 footage in the .MTS container as Prelude will not allow subclips unless transcoded. I used transcode Format: H.264 and checked the Preset: match source - hi-bitrate. Transcoding as well as audio syncing were all done within Premiere.
The audio was not mono, as I edit with headphones and checked my audio when syncing audio with Premiere before ingesting into Prelude. I went back and double checked my Premiere Audio-Syncing Project File and it is set to stereo.
All of my footage was ingested four months ago and since then I have just been organizing in bins and making subclips. The audio tracks seem to be fine it was just concerning to see another muted audio track on all the footage appear all of a sudden.
I uploaded a screenshot for you to check out. This is the link as the insert picture and link does not work on the forum.
    http://i.imgur.com/Is80Ysq.jpg
My concern is whether or not this will become an issue when sending to Premiere for editing.
    Thanks!

  • Mp3 Players suddenly will not play on published website

For 2 years, the two MP3 included on one particular page successfully played when published within iWeb and then uploaded to the internet.
Today, upon checking the site, on this particular page, the MP3 players appeared with '?'. Whereas, on other pages MP3 players are loaded and could be played.
I have remounted the page several times to no avail, then went back to iTunes and re-loaded the two songs on separate Playlists and chose MP3 player file format to ensure I have good versions.
The two MP3 players were drag/dropped from iTune onto a new page where they play perfectly well, but upon publishing the page within iWeb, the new versions still would not publish.
I am at a loss as what to do next. This is a very well-visited page with 2 beautiful songs on it.
Why, after 2 years of successfully publishing and uploading this page to the internet, the two MP3 players do not function as noted above.
I apparently have enough web space, but my internet speed is low.
Would the low speed be a factor?
I know that during business hours, my time allotment wanes and have to wait until 2:00 a.m. to do the Media upload. Try to access my Domain Host techie takes several days meanwhile the page remains on website with dysfunctional MP3 players, which is not good for viewers.
I am now questioning if this is the problem, that is, low internet speed? That can be resolved by purchasing higher internet speed.
    HELP!
Thank you, in advance for your assistance.

How are you loading the audio into iWeb?
Where are you publishing to - MobileMe or another server?
If you are using QuickTime and are publishing to a "real" server, make sure your audio file is present in the "media" folder on the server.
Have a look at this section for more information on playing audio on your site......

  • Can you loop audio on first page of iWeb

Just got iWeb - experimenting, but not yet published the site.
Can I set up an audio clip to loop continually? - either just on the first 'welcome' page, or throughout the site until a different audio clip is selected? This would be like on most computer games - a drone kind of piece of music, written by myself.
Also is there a way to place an audio clip 'on top' of a photo or a movie, to give some kind of visual relief?
Is there a way to copy and paste the Navigation bar to all pages?
Finally, is there a clip art thing with the art designs and stamps etc?
    Best regards, Rich

You can very easily do this, but you can't do it in iWeb directly. It's going to take some post-publishing editing of the iWeb-generated HTML files. See this link...
    http://www.world-voices.com/resources/addaud.html
This is one method of directly embedding different audio file formats. Whether the audio is audible to the visitor depends on whether their web browser has a plugin to decode the format.
The other method is to drag the audio file directly into iWeb. This will require that the visitor have QuickTime loaded in order to hear the audio. To make the audio autoplay you would still have to do some editing of the page.js file.

  • Audio plays in iWeb, not in Safari

    Hello all,
I had done a little page in iWeb with an audio file, but in QTPro, so it was about 14 megs as a .mov.
Since I had not tried any compressing or exporting of audio files, I published it to iWeb with that 14 meg audio file.
It worked very well, a few friends checked it out for me - and we found it took very long to load, so I set out to learn compression.
I converted it to MPEG4 and got it nicely down to 2.6 megs.
Tonight I deleted, in iWeb 1.1.1, the original ,mov file, and I dragged in the smaller MPEG4 file.
It works great in iWeb, but when I publish, then visit the site, the audio loads and that is about it -- it just sits there, cannot be clicked to play at all. My husband tried it too, and nothing.
I need to know why it suddenly won't play on the little webpage. If I could do it successfully once, why not twice? It is an MPEG4 thing? I really do want a smaller audio file if possible...
    Thanks for any help!

You know what I just noticed? Your movie/quicktime audio controller is all the way down past the footer area of the page (where the next and previous buttons live). Try dragging the quicktime box so that it does not extend or overlap into the footer. You may have to adjust the values for page content in the Inspector under the page tab. I think this may solve your problem.
Alternatively, I suppose you could "shorten" the width of the next and previous link boxes so that they do not overlap the quicktime controller. But for cleanliness, the content should not extend into the footer area.
If any of this has been helpful to you, please consider marking my individual replies as either "helpful" or "solved" with the little buttons in the title bars of each reply. Thanks.
