Audio slowly fades to silent in seconds - unintentionally

I have a strange iMac problem. The audio (through iTunes, Web pages, all known instances) plays normal volume for about one second, then slowly fades to silent, no matter what the system sounds settings indicate. When I raise or lower the volume using the wireless keyboard, same thing happens. It happens through the internal speakers and when headphones are plugged in.
If you leave it alone for a few seconds, it will go back to this mode of working for one second then fade into silence.
I've changed and checked all the audio settings, restarted with command + option + p + r, and plugged in the headphones and taken them out. Haven't installed anything new lately and I'm not using external speakers.
Anyone heard of this or have any other solutions to try?

No Hush installed, but that seems sort of close to what is happening. Apple support had me delete audio configuration files, remove all USB connections, remove power cord and hold down power button for 5 seconds, unplug/replug headphones, and set up another user. None worked. It's almost as if there were a governor on the sound, to keep it from being too loud -- even though at maximum it is not that audible.
Next stop is bringing it in to the shop.

From the Transitions browser (far right of iMovie's window, shaped like an hourglass), drag the Fade to Black transition to the gap between the Title and video thumbnail. Alternatively, drag the Cross Dissolve transition - rather than fading to black, the image will gradually transform from the Title to the video.
Double-click the transition to open the Inspector - you can change the duration there if preferred.

PS. Re-reading your question, if the video is continuous with a Title inserted, you will need to split the clip at the point where the Title ends, then drag in the transition. To split the clip, right-click (or Control-click) at the split point then select "Split Clip" from the pop-up menu.

I am new to FCP X and I'm creating a picture slideshow. How can I make multiple pictures slowly fade to white in FCP X ?
For example, I would like to have 10 pictures all play in 5 seconds, and starting off with the 1st one being little light; 2nd lighter; 3rd lightter; etc., to 10th being completly white screen...
Can anyone help ?

Here is what I would do. Add a 5 second white generator solid to your storyline. Add your 10 half second clips as attached clips. Select them all, right click and make a compound clip. Then keyframe the compound clips opacity from 100% t0 0% with one keyframe at the beginning and one at the end. That will give you a linear reduction in opacity over the 5 seconds(10 pics). You can play with the keyframes to get the effect you want if linear isn't doing it.

Audio Clip Fades

I have a 6-second mp3 audio clip that I added to the audio that came with a 50-second mov video track, all of which I'm editing in Photoshop CS6. The last few seconds of the audio fade to quiet. I've double-checked its settings and there is no fade (0 sec) set for the audio clip. When played by itself, the audio clip is loud throughout.
Any idea why Photoshop fades the end of my audio clip when I play the psd video as well as when I render it?

We know nothing about your system, your render settings, what tool you use to view your clips/ listen to the audio and a gigazillion otehr things. For all we know, this could be some auto-fade in your player.

WRP400: audio drops for 5..15 seconds on each packet error.

Hi,
On several calls i noticed that the outgoing audio stops for 5..15 seconds randomly.
I'd say it happens on an average of every 5 minutes.
When this happens, i can see that the value after "Call1 Packet error:" increases by one.
Why just a wrong packet may stop the outgoing audio for so long?
...i've much more packet losts (about 3%) but they give me no problem at all.
Since a little and cheaper Handytone HT502 gave me intermittent audio too, but the effect was much better (audio still stops, but in a second it comes back), i wonder if is there something i can do by tweaking the WRP400 settings, I'm still using firmware 1.01.00.

After upgrade, default parameters fixed my cutoff issue.

Audio Cross Fade

Newbie with FCE so thanks in advance. I am trying to add an audio Cross Fade. Following Apple Pro Training book: Placed play head before edit point. Clicked on edit point on a1 track and point becomes highlighted on both audio tracks (and video track). Then chose Cross Fade (tried both). Problems: the Cross Fade icon does not appear on tracks. I also tried to drag and drop but if I do that the highlight disappears with no cross fade icon appearing. FYI when marking the highlight point the vid track also highlights unlike the photo in instruction book. Both audio tracks are unlocked as is vid track. I am on a MacBook Pro and have already done some experimental vids that have worked but have not worked with transitions yet.

Open the clips into the viewer and check to see if you have handles to create the overlap for the transition.

Symbol will not slowly fade in if using special font?

I have a very basic .swf with some text that I've converted
to symbols, and slowly fade in/out with a tween. This works great,
until I was asked to use a special font (Frutiger) So, I have the
font installed now. I created new symbols with the Frutiger font,
but instead of slowly fading in now, the symbol loads very quickly.
I can't figure out how to make a gradual/slow fade in. This problem
only happens when I'm using Frutiger. If I pick Arial or some other
basic font, I can get the symbol to slowly fade in/out. Any
suggestions?
When I watch the movie in Flash, it's fine, and slowly fades
in/out. It's only when I try to view in IE.

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great troubleshooting steps for unexpected power off of your iOS device:

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.

On an IPad 1 even after a full restart, and only application running, I'm finding that Audio recoding stops after a few seconds. The duration seems to be fairly random between 5 seconds to 25 seconds. Creating other tracks seems OK.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've seen this issue in the past. I think it is connected to the operating system itself. I say this because I reinstalled the os using itunes and then restored a backup. Then garageband started behaving again. Then the issue came back - after I did an os update. So I'd try reverting back to a fresh version of the latest os, and then restoring your apps using a backup.

Video and audio slowly go out of sync

im trying ot make encore dvds the first one I made worked fine but now whenever I make a dvd the video and audio slowly drift apart as it plays.
ive tried converting the audio to AC3 but it did not help. Ive also tried various formats like vob, mp4 and avi.
does anyone have a solution?

This may or may not work but give it a try. I'm not sure what software you used to create the video file that you sent to Encore
but I'll assume that it is Premier CS3 or CS4.
Here's what I would do.
1) output your sequence two ways. a) seperate Mv2 & Audio file, b) One single AVI file. Use media Encoder, DO NOT USE DYNAMIC LINK!
2) Import each one into encore. NOTE: The mv2 file will NOT have to be transcoded.
3) Set each one up on a seperate timeline.
4) Play each time line. See if they go out of sync. If they do, make sure that you perform the following.
5) Place each timeline onto a menu. label each one so you know which is which (i.e., MV2, AVI)
5) Burn the project to an image file (don't waste a DVD).
Next try playing the DVD using a seperate DVD player (NOT ADOBE)
Test each timeline. See if they work or fail.
It sounds like a lot of work but once you know which way works, stick with it!

IMac won't wake up - Screen slowly fades to white

Dear everyone,
I love my iMac g4, it just has this one stupid little problem:
The computer will go to sleep just fine, but when I wake it up, the screen is colored all weird, full of lines, and the whole thing slowly fades into a lovely white. Then I have to reset.
I have tried cleaning up the system with Onyx, but short of that, I don't know what the problem is, or if it can be repaired.
Any advice?

Hi,Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It sounds much like you are suffering the famous screen issues. Please see this link that not so much details a solution but rather things other's have tried - although the common issue is a fade to black not white....
I would suggest that the short term solution is to go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Energy Saver > and set to never sleep. Try to see if turning on and off system, display and hard disk sleep options helps.

Audio drops out for about 2 seconds after about 2 hours

Hey folks....I've been renting HD movies, and I've noticed a bit of a pattern. Three times now, at some point just after about two hours the audio drops out for about two seconds. It's not exactly the same time - on one movie it was at 2:02:26 and another it was at 2:04:18. It's only two seconds, so it's really of no consequence. Just now it was during the closing credits (the music). Before, it was that scene in Batman where the two ferries are stalled on the river.
Of course, I would rewind to make sure. I use the optical out.
Anyone else notice this?

Do a hard reset. Hold the power and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

PE10 problem: .MTS audio cutting out after 15-30 seconds

Hi. I'm having an extremely frustrating time trying to edit some .MTS video in PE10. On quite a few of the files I've imported (using Import Media) into PE10 the audio is cutting out 15-30 seconds into the clip. However, other clips from the same shoot open perfectly.
The audio from the 'faulty' clips plays perfectly well in the Elements 10 Organizer, as well as in Windows Media Player, VLC etc so it isn't a problem with audio capture. The video track works fine. This has happened before with PE10. That time, I just thought i'd recorded crappy audio and left those clips out
I have a fast, relatively new PC using Windows7. The footage was recorded on a Panasonic HDC-SD90 in full HD. The project was set up correctly (AVCHD full HD 1080i 25).
Please help - I need to get this footage edited asap! Thanks. Al

Hi. thanks for the speedy response, Hunt! I imported the images through Organizer and set it to auto-delete, so would I be right to presume it took off everything it needed? Hmm. I didn't know anything about conforming and indexing! On the link you provided, you mention:

Where, exactly, is this bar? I usually import a whole folder (i.e. whole SD card) in one go, and start dragging the clips I need onto the timeline immediately. Is this a bad thing? Should I have imported in smaller batches and been waiting for them to conform? If this is the case, should I start a new project from scratch (which I could easily do) or just delete files and re-import?
