Audio Track Source Control

I have somehow lost the Audio Track Source Control Button from my Timeline. The Destination Control Button (A1) remains, but the Source Control Button (a1) has gone AWOL. I have control-clicked the Destination Control panel and selected "Reset" but nothing happens. Audio is no longer placed along with the Video when I drag and drop, or when I insert a clip.
I am still learning how to select the track where I want my video and audio placed, but haven't figured it out yet.
Any suggestions on how to get the Button back?

Open a clip into the viewer that has two tracks of audio. You should then have two source tabs. If you don't and resetting doesn't fix it, try trashing your preferences.

  • Audio track souce controls are missing

The source controls for both audio tracks have suddenly disappeared my time line. It doesn't matter if I open old projects or create new ones, they're not there. I can't find anything about toggling them on or off. The destination track targeting controls are still there.
Is this a feature that can be removed (but why would anyone want to do that) or do you think perhaps there's a glitch in the software (and if so, what to do about it) ?
And, of course, this has happened 4 days before my deadline.
Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

There may be nothing in the Viewer that relates to them.
Open a clip from The Timeline with known audio, what happens?
Try trashing the FCE preferences if you can't get them back.

  • New user:  I can't find the zoom option (to try and sync audio tracks/sources wav to a clap)

Hi guys.  I LOVE the rendering speed/quality etc of single videos but I'm running into trouble syncing videos/audio from 3 sources.  Basically I have a Nikon D7000 and an Iphone taking two angles of me playing guitar.  I want to sync all of them to an audio clap or a click but I can't seem to find the zoom option where I can get right in on the wav files to match the peaks of the clap.  I am also having trouble with the video clips I am dragging seem to lock magnetically to other clips or wherever my playback marker is.  I want the clips to drag/move freely (and tiny increments) and not lock into any time interval etc.
I also would like to find the mute button for some of the tracks.  It seems to be really basic stuff, but I can't seem to locate anything obvious to zoom, drag and get my timeline in sync.
It took me a long time to sync my audio to an iphone angle for this clip:

My D7000 is a MUCH better image, but juggling that, my iphone angle and the audio that gets recorded by my DAW is a struggle.  Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply with details of your Premiere Elements version and computer operating system.
    1. Zooming in on clap in wave form of audio - assorted maneuvers
You could always change the audio track size, but that is not going to give you anywhere near the detail that you will get by
alt clicking the audio portion of the Timeline file (to temporarily unlink audio from the video and then double clicking that Timeline
audio file to bring up its waveform in the Preview Window and noting the clap time at playback there.
With the video and audio relink again, as you can hold down the alt key and tap the left or right arrow key, you can move the Timeline linked clip from right to left or left to right
for alignment purposes to the clap time.
When you need only the video portion of the video audio linked file in the Preview Windows, then you omit the alt click on the audio portion.
If needed, you could always set unnumbered markers at the Timeline level or in the Preview Windows.
For Timeline video audio nudges....as you hold down the alt key and tap the right or left arrow key once, you get a one frame nudge per tap.
As you hold down the Shift+Alt and tap the right or left arrow key once, you get a five frames nudge per tap.
    On other matters...
    2. Please look at right clicking the Timeline and looking a Snap option enabled and disabled.
    3. I will think about it some more but I do not see any way to mute the audio for a whole audio track. You can mute the audio for clips on that audio track but not
shut off the audio to that one particular audio track. If you wanted to do audio clip muting for more than 1 clip at a time, I could see
    a. copy first file that you muted through Adjust Tab/Adjustments/Volume Panel expanded and
    b. then do a Paste Effects and Adjustments for a selection of all of the other audio files on that particular track.
    Just some thoughts

  • When I try to map faders to the volume in audio tracks it only lets me map the "selected track"

LogicX user. I'm trying to map my mpd32's faders up with four audio tracks to control their volume. For the first three tracks, I can map the faders accordingly, and in the Controller Assignments window, in the "channel strip" section on the right, they all say "fader bank (1-3)", which is correct. When I get to the fourth audio track, and I go through the same steps as I have to map the first three audio tracks, the channel strip section says "selected track: 1" instead of what I thought it would say: "fader bank 4". When I try and manually change that to "fader bank 4", I move the control that I want it to be mapped to, it and the text automatically switches back to saying "selected track 1". I made sure that none of the tracks that I was trying to map were selected before I did this. I'm not new to logic by any means but I seriously need to be able to control these all at the same time for a performance I'm trying to do soon. It is driving me ******* crazy.

  • How to add audio track to Final Cut Express

Does anyone know how to add a audio track to Final Cut Express? My default is four available tracks. What if I want to have 6? How can I add a additional two to the timeline?

Move your cursor into the gray area below the A4 audio track, then control click and select Add Track.

  • Delete or disable audio tracks

Why cant I delete my audio tracks,I control click delete and they stay there !!!
Also, what are the speed modification requirements ? Sometimes I can modify speed on clips or entire sequences, sometimes I cant.It seems that sequences that have been fully written/rendered in previous projects tend to be the ones that cant change speed ( ? )
    Thanks a heap !!!

If an audio track contains one half of a stereo pair audio file it cannot be deleted.
What happens when you can't modify the speed? Anything? Any warning? The most common cause is a track conflict when rippling the track will cause a clip collision.

  • Controlling which RED audio tracks to import

Is there any way to control which audio tracks are imported when working with RED R3D files?
This is probably user error, but the company that we use for Red shoots has their camera set up so that the talent audio is on track 2 (with track 1 and 3 being empty, but still active). So I get three mono tracks for each clip I import.

After you import, and before you use any of the clips in a sequence, select them and go to Clip > Modify > Audio Channels. There are a number of options in that dialog for mapping source audio channels as you need.

  • How do I control the number of audio tracks in an exported QT movie?

I am at a loss. I have 59.94 fps DVCProHD files that I want to trim and to export in the same format. The original clips have two tracks of audio, but the exported tracks have eight tracks of audio. I normally use an 8-track audio card, but nothing I do seems to prevent the 8-track export: I have selected "stereo downmix" in the audio mixer tool and set the audio playback device to "Built-in Audio," to no avail. I want the exported files to have the same two audio tracks as the original, not two plus an empty six. There seem to be no controls that allow me to specify this. Can anyone explain to me what is going on and how to change it?
    Thanks.

    Hello Robert,
It might be that your sequence is set to output 8 channels. try this...
Go to Sequence>Setting> and go to the 'Audio Outputs' tab. Here, change the 'Outputs' to 2.
You might also want to check the track-assign buttons on the timeline, ctrl+click on the auto assign square (just to the right of the little padlocks) and go to the Audio Outputs. Check that each track is assigned to 1&2.

  • Can I open a second Source Monitor for the audio track of a video?

I really dislike having to switch to the audio waveform in the Source Monitor pane when I want to tinker with a clip's audio track. I usually try to stay away from needing to use a panes drop down menu as much as possible. Is there a way to get this in a different window?
    Using CS6

You cant tinker with the audio track in the Source Monitor. Apart from IN and Out Point setting.
Normally one would expand the audio track in the time line...zoom in/out to suit and maybe use the tilde shortcut  key to view it all full screen.

  • Set default audio track for playback in Source monitor

So I'm an editor that is somewhat new to the profession and I am working on a project right now with close to 100 video clips in my project. Most of the clips have their audio recorded to track 2 but when I load the clips into the source window to find the footage asked for in my script there is no audio playback.
They play fine in the program monitor once placed in a timeline, because I have all the audio tracks are turned on until I do my mastering at the end of the project. To get audio playback in the source monitor I have to change the view option to audio waveform which shows a blank screen because there is no audio on track. I then go to the drop-down menu just below the video display and select track 2 at which point the audio waveform shows up and plays back fine. This isn't too arduous a process and isn't a great burden but it slows my workflow down considerably as I have to repeat the process for each new clip I load into the source monitor.
My question then is if there is anywhere in Premiere that I can set which audio track is the default audio playback track for clips loaded in the source monitor. I work on a lot of similar projects like this for the same client and they don't have the most rigorous standards for their shooters. This problem has come up before and will most assuredly arise again in the future so any tips/advice on how to fix this on my end would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

I'm not really sure.I don't do any shooting for the client and in fact don't have any contact with the shooters, we just do the post. They use a number of different freelance videographers all of whom have different equipment and procedures when it comes to formatting, orginization, etc.

  • Missing Audio track controls (fader, solo, mute, sends, inserts etc...)

After doing a "save as project" I ended up with 2 big problems. When I pull the song off the CDR and open it up on my computer the controls for some audio tracks are missing. I lose anything having to do with track control such as input, output, fade, solo, pan, inserts, buses, mute, record. The only thing i can see is the group assignment and automation pull down menus. The other problem i have is that i have to manually relink all the audio files. Why can't the session file find the audio files??? They are all in the audio files folder right next to the session file. Arg. i am running logic pro 7 and the computer that the "save project" was completed on is running logic 6 express 6.4.0.

I'll take a stab at it.
Sounds like your parameters are not viewed. In the arrange window menus - there should be a view menu and it allows you select what things to see for each track.
Maybe view parameters or view channel strip only settings may help.
Not sitting in front of Logic at the moment.
May have something to do with goign from L6 to L7,but i'm only guessing on that one.
    hope this helps

  • Multicam - audio track not indicating source

In CS6 I could keep track of which audio track I was using in a multi-cam edit by the indicators on the audio part of the clip - MC1, MC2 etc
This is no longer a part of CC, only the video component shows the camera source.
Is there any way of getting the indicators back on the audio?
Multicam in CC does do some odd things occasionally with audio, changing the audio source sometimes even though I have 'multi-camera audio follows video' deselected

If you're talking about the source select tabs, in order for them to show there has to be a clip with audio loaded in the Viewer window.

  • Any way to add and scale audio tracks to source video?

Got audio tracks timed at 25 fps that I'm trying to conform to 23.98 video source.  In QT, I could add to selection and scale, but need a little more precision so trying to do this in FCP.  Doesn't seem to be a way outside of exporting to Motion, which is pretty ardous.  I've tried playing with audio speed (changed speed percentage while scaling attributes), and it kind of works but isn't consistent across the entire video.  Is there a better way to do this in FCP?

You can conform the video material to 25fps using cinematools.
You can also adjust the duration of audio in soundtrack pro without effecting pitch.  Hope one of these helps.

  • Audio track missing on timeline when I insert clip from source monitor

I have the following problem with PP CS6: my media contains two alternate mono tracks (one with the signal boosted as an insurance) and I have PP set up to treat them as two mono tracks, rather than one stereo track. Everything works fine when I drag media directly to the timeline from the project panel. But when I use the source monitor to select in and out points, and then insert the chosen clip into the timeline, only one of the two audio tracks appears on the timeline. Can anyone please explain how to make sure I get both tracks on the timeline via this route?
    Thanks
    DM

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to my case. I've set PP's default behaviour to import as dual mono in Edit\Preferences\Audio. This allows me to drag media from the project panel to the timeline and get two sediscrete mono channels. My problem is that when I go the source monitor route, any clip that I insert does not display two audio tracks on the timeline, just one. I have discovered I can switch the source channel from left to right, which to all intents and purposes fixes my problem, but I would like to maintain the option of getting both channels displayed separately on the timeline if possible.
    Thanks

  • Using sequence as source, but only one audio track avail

So I have created a "raw" sequence containing multiple source clips. The source clips have 4 channels of audio and 1 channel of video. When I create my sequence, I see all of my channels....great.
However, when I load the "raw" sequence into the source monitor...I no longer have access to my 4 channels of audio independently. I simply get one audio source track and the audio is mixed....as it appears in the timeline.
When I create a new "raw" sequence, I select multichannel for the master. I've tried every track type (mono, standard, adaptive)...and still I only get one audio channel when the sequence is loaded into the source monitor.
I watched several tutorials about nesting, but there is little discussion about multiple audio tracks.
    Thanks...

Its kind of the point of using a a nest.  ( a pre comp if you like)
Nothing stops the editor going back to the source of the nest to work on the individual assets.  These will update automatically into the nest.
