Audio Video Conference application with JMF

hi there!
I am developing an "Audio Video Conference application". so far I've been able to develop an applicaiton which opens an RTP Player on the client side, now my purpose is to enhance the functionality of RTP player by adding various functions like "Quit", "Pause" etc. I am looking for more options for enhancing the functionality of the RTP player in order to make it more user friendly for example I've been able to find the method for quiting from the player which is "KillThePlayer()" it is found in the class "PlayerWindow".

Yes such kind of application is very much possible with FMS - with and without peer-to-peer. Peer to peer would save lot of bandwidth cost in long run.
But question of configuration is not pretty straightforward - it will depend upon requirements of your solution like how the traffic would be - whether it would be two way or one way , how high bit rates would be , whether it would be only audio or video too , whether one machine would suffice or you would have to go for bunch of them to load balance and many others.

Skype can apparently do it.. and so Mac MUST be able to do it... better .. um.. right?

Facetime does not have this capability. However Skype does.

Lync reporting: Found QOEMatrics database stores media related info of all interactions(Audio,Video ,conferences) except IM and application sharing.

Do we have any way to let QOEMatrics db to store media info of every sessions(including IM,sharing)?

'Source play' and 'audio-video sync' problems with PE8 on fast WIN7 64 bit computer

I am transferring Hi8 videos, about 2 hours long, to my WIN7 64 bit computer with PE8. [Dell Mobile Precision M4400 Computer Workstation (Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 500GB/4GB); NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M, 512MB] I seem to have several problems:
First, after importing the file (.avi), I get a message about ‘dropped frames.’
Secondly, when I try to play the video in the source monitor, the audio plays but the video doesn’t; it only shows the first frame [this is after waiting until the video is ?recognized? ] I can use the shift-arrow key and see that the video is there.
Thirdly, I can play the .avi file in other players, e.g., avidemux or PE pro CS5 on another computer. There, I see that the audio and video are not in sync; the audio can be up to 300 ms ahead of the video (as determined using avidemux).
Questions:
1. Why doesn’t the source monitor play the video? Is this a problem with PE8 (latest update as of 3 March 2011) on aWIN7 64 bit computer (intel duo core. 3 GHz).
2. Is the audio-video sync problem the result of the ‘dropped frames?’ How can PE8 correct this? Avoid this? Or, is it coincidence?

WMP v12 is dumb. Under properties, media, it says 'video.' However, avidemux gave me the information state above: video -- Codec 4CC: dvsd, frame rate: 29.971 fps; audio -- codec: PCM, channels: Stereo, frequency: 48 kHz.
So, back to the Questions:

Three-way video conference MAC with AIM

Are you able to do a three-way video conference with 2 users with AIM accounts with one who has MAC accounts?
The person with the MAC account shows up not stacked to indicate multi-video conference.

It depends on...
Are they all using iChat 3
Do they have an Internet connection in excess of 384kbps both up and down ?
(there are some variants if the download is quicker that will allow you to have 256K up)
Do they have a Mac over a G4/1Ghz single processor
Is the one to be the Host a G4/1Gz Dual or greater ?
If they all fill this criteria and one does not show stacked icons then it needs some maintenance.
They should make sure the System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab is set to 1.5Mbps
They should run the Cron scripts if they are not sure

Audio video synchronisation problem with Aja Kona Lse

Hi,
We have recently bought an Aja Kona Lse card and using it with FCP 6.0.2. At the time of playing back we found that video on external monitor(taken out from *composite out* of aja kona breakout box)lags behind the external speaker audio(taken out from *balanced audio out* of aja kona breakout box) atleast by 2-3 seconds,though the same audio is in sync with FCP canvas video.

Are you sure about the source of the audio? Have you double checked the internal routing within FCP?
What you describe is exactly what happens when the audio is bypassing the external device and going through the Macs system audio. If going through the system audio, it will stay in sync with the Canvas. If going through the card, it should be in sync with the monitor being fed by the same card.

Well you've found the root of your problem. It's not necessary the JMF. It's when you make a jar file, you need to include the dependencies. I don't think it' legal to include the JMF in a program you sell or distribute, so be careful there.
However, to include dependencies in jar files is not a hard task. The simplest method is to unjar the dependency and place it at the top or your classpath; then make a jar that includes both your program, and the dependency.
A more long term solution is to use a build system such as ant or maven to create the package using available scripts or plugins. The "Uberjar" plugin for maven comes to mind.

Audio&video conference network deployment

HI guys. I am new in conferencing so apologies if u guys think my question is stupid . There is voice and data network and we need to install Biamp conference system which need connection to voice net for voice traffic and to data network for video traffic . What is the good practice :
a) to create separate vlan for conference on the core switch which will do routing for both data and voice traffic?
OR
b) use separate physical connections to voice vlan and data vlan (that mean need ip from data and ip from voice to be configured on conference system) ?

Hi Bekzod,
Since the same node is processing both audio and data portion of the conference, you will have only one IP for the server. Hence, what we've seen is all the conferencing is kept on the same VLAN. You can later on regulate the priority of packets on the network with QoS.

Can anyone guide me to start on how to stream or capture both Audio from the Mic and Slide show from Power point and generate a AVI file.
ie., User starts presenting a Conference with Audio and Slide show, I want to implement an Application that runs in the background and Merges Audio and Slides to a AVI or MOV file.

one will be the Screen Grabber,
and with synchronzed Methods,and the Other thread will capture my voice .
Thus ,meaning using ONE Processor,TWO DataSources that we will merge and ONE dataSink to Save on a file.

Audio video sync issues with iMovie 11

Hi: I've been using Roxio Video Capture software to convert VHS tapes to digital (quiktime) movies in preparation for saving them on DVDs. Most of my clips seem to have synchronization issues and I am at a loss as to how to fix them. Most of the historical blogs and forums get either very technical or simply do not work for me. I am far from being expert at using iMovie or performing editing tasks so I could use specific expert help with this problem. So far I have learned how to detach the audio, but am at a loss as to what to do with it once I detach it

Can Audio/Video buttons work with other player on Satellite Pro L20

Just a quick question about the multimedia bar on these laptops, i was wondering if they can somehow be configured to work with other players - for instance iTunes as opposed to just Windows Media Player? If so, how would i go about doing this? Any help would be great.
