1- Transactions can use an additional time after auditing turned on.
2- You can have also an additional CPU Usage after auditing turned on.
I invite you to have a look into this document:

Hi, I need to choose a product to monitor server accesses and also database accesses, but to monitor our databases I should start audit on them (so I need to stop and start our database) and collect many transactions just to let that tool to read the DBA_AUDIT_TRAIL table, get those informations over the net, insert them into the tool's database (another Oracle database) and then delete them from our databases... !!!
I've read this thread and also this one ( Oracle Audit Vault vs Third Party Tools )
It seems that with Audit Vault I need to enable audit on all our databases and then it will collect audit informations from a central machine, is it right ? Is there no way to collect those informations, reading them from archivelog or in another way ? How much does audit impact over performances on a OLTP database ?
Instead Database Vault seems to provide ONLY :) strong access control, but it seems it doesn't use AUDIT table... is this right ?
What are pros and cons comparing these products ?

  • KIT purchase and stock updation of individual components

    Hi,
I have a scenario where my client buys certain items required to assemble the finished product as a package(It contains 25 components). This package is just a group of components and it is not an assembly. Now they want to make a PO for this package and do GR for the package, but want the stock to be updated for the individual components in the package. I want to map this scenario by defining this package as a KIT.
Please note that the price negotiation is done for the entire package and not for the individual items. Hence no price is avialble for items.
I request you to guide me how to create a KIT and do the rest of the processes in SAP.
    Regards,
    Sridharan.M

for mapping this requirment you need to go for enhancement such as mentioned below
you need to take help of abaper to see the feasibilty of the idea and also check the FI and Audit impact of this.
create a programe with abaper that whenever good reciept happens for any of the material code among a list then system should search the BOM of the KIT for which GR is done and by getting the list of the components from BOM system should trigger IDOC or BDC through which system will do the GR for every line item in BOM thru tcode MB1C and movement type 511
now you need to think about few more things that is
    1. do you want to have a FI document generated for the GR done thru 511
if yes then no issue system will fetch the price from material master but if NO then you need to keep the material master at standard price and the material value should be zero or all the material should be created with materila type non valuated
    2. Gr quantity of components should be picked as per the  Kit GR quantity and BOM
these are the few things coming to my mind ...............

  • Performance impact on oracle 11g database by audit enable

    Hi All,
Shall we enable audit on some siebel db tables like s_party s_contacts s_order s_quote s_org_ext
We need to see who deleted account records from oracle tables manually
    Since auditing is not enabled.
We have given delete privelege to to all users as required by Siebel application.
So Is this good idea to get Auditing enabled on these selected tables or Is there any performance impact on database.
Is it good idea to enable audit for these tables espacially in siebel

    Hello,
Ok do it and generate AWR to see how the performance is getting impacted.remember auditing just some tables is not a big matter but auditing everything is the problem that is why fine grained auditing exist.please also remember to clean the audit records regularly because the auditing will be just a problem with the space in case you have many deletes which should not happen in your case.

  • What's New in Audition 3.0?

Don't have time now to get into how they help, but I would just like to say that there is MUCH improvment in Audition 3.0...I'd like to say this because I've heard lots of grumbling on other forums about 3.0 not being an upgrade at all over the previous versions 1.5 or 2.0, this is completely false, for me in particular the improvement in MT View (editing: collectively trimming, duplicate entire track and fading improvements) are indispensable.
and most people don't even mention any improvement aside from spectral view (which is pretty big in itself, isn't it?) spot healing etc...which I haven't even used yet.
I just want to say, they definetly made some good improvements, while they may not be overwhelming to some they are entirely useful in my situation and I think for most people they would come to see they are definite improvements if they used it long enough.

ah guh suk yuh dutty sket mudda bumbohole battybway!
It's a very helpful post because there is people who come to this forum when trying to decide to what recording software too purchase, and there's also people all over the internet who say that Audition is not better then Pro-Tools and more amateurish when in many regards it is more professional and has a better interface and GUI, especially if you're not doing too many tracks (less then 16 or perhaps more on a high end system). It's multi-track is easy and stays out of your way, has great automation, and some updated editing capabilities and has an excellent mbc that pro-tools does not have (maybe not excellent but very good)..and I believe pro-tools is a cpu hog doing certain things just like Audition is.
So people come to this site and I'm going to tell them the truth that it has been added to nicely since Adobe bought it and hopefully if people buy it will have another update to make the multi-track even better.  It has a few bugs and downsides but so does pro-tools, I think the upsides are greater then pro-tools.
The only downsides are the midi is a bit lacking compared to other programs which have been in the midi-game longer, and that it does use alot of cpu for certain efx, and the multi-track is better in some ways but not as advanced in others in terms of sequencing and arranging, it could improve in that area, loops and stretching loops to match each other then being able to record how you bring the loops in and out in a sequence like ableton but in it's own way then it would rule the world forever.

  • Best practices when carry forward for audit adjustments

    Dear experts,
I would like to know if someone can share his best practices when performing carry forward for audit adjustments.
We are actually doing legal consolidation for one customer and we are facing one issue.
The accounting team needs to pass audit adjustments around April-May for last year.
So from January to April / May, the opening balance must be based on December closing of prior year.
Then from May / June to December, the opening balance must be based on Audit closing of prior year.
We originally planned to create two members for December period, XXXX.DEC and XXXX.AUD
Once the accountants would know their audit closing balance, they would have to input it on the XXXX.AUD period and a business rule could compute the difference between the closing of AUD and DEC periods and store the result on an opening flow.
The opening flow hierarchy would be as follow:
    F_OPETOT (Opening balance Total)
        F_OPE (Opening balance from December)
F_OPEAUD (Opening balance from the difference between closing balance of Audit and December periods)
Now, assume that we are in October, but for any reason, the accountant run a carry forward for February, he is going to impact the opening balance because at this time (October), we have the audit adjustments.
How to avoid such a thing? What are the best practices in this case?
I guess it is something that you may have encounter if you did a consolidation project.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Antoine Epinette

Cookman and I have been arguing about this since the paleozoic era. Here's my logic for capturing everything.
Less wear and tear on the tape and the deck.
You've got everything on the system. Can't tell you how many times a client has said "I know that there was a better take." The only way to disabuse them of this notion is to look at every take. if it's not on the system, you've got to spend more time finding the tape, and adding "wear and tear on the tape and the deck." And then there's the moment where you need to replace the audio for one word from another take. You can quickly check all the other takes (particularly if you've done a thorough job logging the material - see below)_.
Once it's on the system, you still need to log and learn the material. You can scan thru material much faster once it's captured. Jumping around the material is much easier.
There's no question that logging the material before you capture makes you learn the material in a more thorough way, but with enough selfdiscipline, you can learn the material as thoroughly once it's been captured.

  • Double Cost A/c impact of brrow & lent and Intrcompany in same legal entity

    Hello Experts / Dina,
Could someone please explain me the double cost accounting impact on borrowed and lent process and inter-company accounting in same legal entity scenario?
Example – Lets say US company X-star running the project on Mobile Apps development in US consulting division (Project Organization) and the resources from marketing division (Expenditure organization) are working on it on developing marketing campaign and decided to share the cost 100%.
Using Borrow and Lent:-Assume MIS cost is charge of USD 100 on Project Mobile Apps Development. A/c is
Debit- US Company-Marketing (Expenditure Org)-MIS Cost A/c (Expense A/c)-100 USD.
Then if you use borrowed and lent accounting method the accounting entries will be generated as
Debit- cost to US Company –US Consulting (Project Org) – MIS Cost A/c (Expense A/c)-100 USD
Credit- cost to US Company-Marketing (Expenditure Org)-MIS Cost A/c (Expense A/c)-100 USD.
In this case cost on Expenditure organization is totally reverse and cost is only charge to provider organization.
In Inter-company scenario:- But let say if you are trying to implement the same scenario using inter-company accounting.
Then MIS cost charge of USD 100 on project will derive the same accounting as mentioned above.
Debit- US Company-Marketing (Expenditure Org)-MIS Cost A/c (Expense A/c)-100 USD.
    Revenue will generate below accounting.
Credit- US Company-Marketing (Expenditure Org)-MIS Revenue A/c (Revenue A/c)-100 USD.
And payables intercompany invoice in provider organization will generate below accounting.
Debit- cost to US Company –US Consulting (Project Org) – MIS Intercompany Cost A/c (Expense A/c)-100 USD.
Now the question is why in Inter-company scenario (2nd case example ) the cost of expenditure organization is not reverse similar like in borrow and lent scenario? I guess implementation of intercompany scenario results in double costing for same company (within legal entity).
But this might look properly when you implement inter-company approach across legal entity as company can report separate expense and (internal-external) revenue across company.
Similarly like inter-company scenario when you use inter project billing, you end up in creating double costing. Am I right?
Please let me know whether my understanding is correct?
Your reply on this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    :-)

    Hi
Here are my responses along side your questions:
1.With borrow and lent you cannot only cross charge within the same operating unit but also cross charge across operating unit only within same legal entity. Am I right?
No. Borrow and Lent works only within the same operating unit. This functionality does not involve supplier and customer invoices, only accounting entries. When you cross operating units you must use the intercompany billing process.
2.On the below example explained below sec 2.1; this perfectly works fine in scenario where organization within legal entities are agree to share the revenue.
But what if the organizations agreed to share the cost? In that case it should generates the accounting mentioned below in section 2.2. Am I right.?
2.1>; (Example provided by you- share revenue)
Debit org B on "Internally Purchased Cost" account
Credit org A on "internal Revenue" account
2.2>;(same Example used by me with diff scenario of sharing the cost)
Debit org B on "Internally Purchased Cost" account
Credit org A on "Labor Cost A/c" account
If so then isn't it nullifying the cost generated by Org A previously.
    2.2.1>;
Debit Org A on "Labor Cost A/c"
    after generating borrow & lent
Debit org B on "Internally Purchased Cost" account
Credit org A on "Labor Cost A/c" account
Resulting in general ledger module showing the cost on Org B "Internally purchase cost"
    Am I right?
In my example the credit of the provider organization is on account - Internal revenue. This is not considered as revenue share, since the revenue of org A from its customer agreement is not decreased.
Internal revenue and internal purchased costs are two accounts that are different from the norma business accounts. When you report in GL for the organization A you will get external revenue of 1000, labor cost of A of 300, and internal purchased cost of 400.  So margin of org A is 1000-300-400 = 300.
When you report in GL for the organization B you will get internal revenue of 400, labor cost of 370, and org B margin is 400 - 370 = 30.
When you report in GL for the entire company (summary of bot organizations) you will have - External revenue of 1000, labor cost of 670, and total margin of 330.
Note the margin of the company is shared by org A -300, and org b - 30.
To get the report of the total company I did not included the internal trading accounts - the internal purchased cost and the internal revenue.
In the approach you provided you credited the cost of org B, rather than credit an internal revenue account.  That is also a legitimate approach. However for audit use I could suggest to use a separate account for crediting the costs o org B, and not the same original account of labor A/C.
3.But lets say now if organization are agreed to share the cost but instead of using borrow and lent, they are agreed to use inter-company functionality then
accounting entries will result mentioned below.Am I right?
    3.1>;
Cost - Debit Org A on "Labor Cost A/c" account
Inter-comp Invoice - Debit Org A on "Inter Receivable A/c" account
    Credit Org A on "Inter-revenue A/c" account
Payables inter invoice - Debit Org B on "internally purchase a/c" account
The accounting results of both processes could be the same. The difference is the introducing of AP & AR invoices and the need to run payments on both sides. In any case on org A you always debit an account which means internally purchase, cost purchased from another organization.  On org B you always credit an account that could be named internal revenue or cost reimbursement or cost reduction, etc.
Now my worries are if both the process agrees on same principle of sharing the cost design for
same purpose then why results in different accounting by finally creating double costing on Org A and Org B as well. Am I not sure whether my understanding is correct. Please help.
    Also mentioned by you earlier..
"In GL you may want to offset both the internal trade accounts on a balancing value of cost center. So the internal revenue credit will offset the internally purchased cost debit."
I am not sure how you can offset the internal revenue and cost account for Org A in GL. (is this done manually??) Could you please explain in detail if possible?
My note about the need to offset in GL is related to the method of reporting. As explained in the example above, when reporting on the entire company you need to omit the internal trade accounts.  The method I use is to set up additional cost center value in GL which is not related to any real organization. This cost center is used for offset entries.
I take the balance of internal purchased cost from of organizations and create a journal entry of the same amount but negative for the offset cost center.  The same is done for the balance of internal revenue of all cost center. As a result  the total internal purchased cost and the total of internal revenue at company level (accross all cost centers) is zero.  Now you can report on the entire company without the affect of the internal trade.  Those journal entries may be created automatically by allocation rules set up in GL.

  • Mic Not Working... Audition CS5.5 crashes when I hit Record

I'm doing simple recording of narratives for my animated videos.  Seems simple enough.  I have CS5 and Soundbooth on my Mac PowerBook Pro with Snow Leopard OS X and 4 Gigs of RAM.  My microphone is a Blue Snowball Mic with a USB plug. I do not have a special audio card.  All I have is CoreAudio.  I've previously recorded and edited multiple narrations in Soundbooth with no problem.
My horror story started a couple weeks ago when Soundbooth stopped recognizing my Snowball Mic.  I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. Then I realized that Adobe had stopped supporting Soundbooth and switched to a totally rewritten Audition in CS5.5.  Based on that nasty bit of info, I bit the bullet and spent the nearly $600 to upgrade my CS5 Master Collection to CS5.5. I uninstalled CS5 and installed CS5.5.  Now, the Snowball is recognized in both my Mac Preferences and in Audition Prefrences.  Unfortunately, when I tried to actually record, NOTHING HAPPENED... and then something did happen... Audition CRASHED.  Now, whether I try to use Snowball or just the built-in mic, as soon as I hit the record button, Audition crashes. I rebooted my Mac... and Audition continues to CRASH.
If I've suddenly developed another fatal glitch in my own personal self, I wouldn't be surprised.  Or is it the microphone and its USB connection?  Or some incompatibility with my Mac?  I've been working with After Effects CS5.5 and Illustrator CS5.5 with NO PROBLEMS, so I'm thinking the uninstall/install went ok.
Hoping to be embarrassed when told of my stupid mistake and the easy, inexpensive fix.
    Best to All of You,
    RoadQuill

Hmm, I tried re-sending and I received a rejection from your mail server insisting the address was invalid.  I'll paste my response below in case anyone else finds this thread and is experiencing the same issue:
I'm sorry you're having troubles with your audio devices.  I use a
Snowball myself for much of my testing, so I know we can get this working
    for you.
My first question would be whether you updated OS X around the time you
noticed this problem begin.  There was an issue with a few releases of
10.6.x where Apple changed how they identify audio devices to
applications, and this could often cause confusion to apps that had a
record of the old Ids.  Please try the following steps:
    1.  Open Finder and navigate to /Library/Preferences     (This is the
system Library folder, not the one in your Users folder)
    2.  Rename "com.apple.audio.AggregageDevices.plist" to anything else (eg.
    "com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.BAK" )
    3.  Launch Audition
If the OS update was indeed the problem, this should resolve the issue by
forcing OS X to update this property file and trigger Audition to use the
new device Ids.  It should not negatively impact your system otherwise as
OS X simply rebuilds the file and updates the timestamp.
If this doesn't help, let's get Audition "reset" and configured properly.
    1. Launch Audition, but hold down the SHIFT key while it's loading.  (This
overrides Audition's preferences file and sets it back to its default
    settings.)
    2. Open Preferences > Audio Hardware... And set your Default Input: to the
    Blue Snowball.
    3. You'll likely want to leave your Default Output configured as-is, but
verify it is configured for your expected output.
    4. Click OK and attempt to record.

  • Impact Analysis: How to trace which objects and tables used in a report?

Impact Analysis: How to trace which Webi objects and tables used in a report?
Currently, our company have been using BO Webi as our ad-hoc and reporting tool for over a year now.  Past several months, we've been pushing our power users to develop their own report, and started to notice that we loss track off which data (tables, columns, ... , BO objects) being used where and by whom.   The BI team now spend more time tracing through reports manually, instead of designing Universe.
After consulted with our local  SAP  technical sale, they said the only solution is to buy BO's ETL (Data Integration) and
Metadata Management tool, which price starting from $300K per CPU.  I suppose that is NOT the right solution; however, we have not found one yet.  Some executives believe Cognos (now by IBM) would provide a better BI solution as we scale.
If anyone know, please provide (1) Impact Analysis method: How to trace which Webi objects and tables used in a report? and (2) Does Cognos provide better impact analysis method without a heavy spending?
    Thank you very much,

    EdPC-SCB,
    have you tried enabling auditing?
    - Yes, audit log only shows user's activities which isn't useful for us. Please let us know any audit log that might be helpful .
For most of the servers listed in the CMC there is an "Audit" tab.  I'd say if you have the disk space in your database for Auditor available, then if in doubt turn it on (at least for a while) to see if it exposes what you are seeking to find out --that'd be the quickest way.  The documentation (xir2_bip_auditor_en.pdf) doesn't offer much in helping you to see a correlation between ticking on an Audit option in a Server and how it will populate in the Auditor DB -- most of us just hunt and peck until we get what we want.  Once you have the good stuff in each of the Servers ticked on you'll be able to track down which report recieves which object.  To help youself out initially, you should run every report that you can find so Auditor will get seeded.
    thanks,
    John

  • SQL Server 2000 auditing/tracking DML changes on specific tables.

    Hello,
We would like to audit/track all DML activities on couple of tables which reside on SQL Server 2000. Triggers are an option we think but thought that would impact performance because of activity on those tables. Could someone please suggest any other best
options that are possible with SQL Server 2000 to capture these changes.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
You may consider third party tools that may still support SQL Server 2000. The following tool supported SQL Server 2000 a few years

I'm sorry, but your question on testing is very general.  And asking to have help documents forwarded to you is, well, unhelpful.
A general "testing" approach is to establish customer metrics first.  Do you want to test the validity of data submitted or collected? In other words, are you asking about testing for audit purpose, or are you asking about repeatable, scientific testing to verify carbon emissions from a specific business?

  • SBO 2007A PL46 - Inventory Audit Report same warehouse exist for twice

    Hi All,
Is anyone encounter the same error? As when i trying to generate the Inventory Audit Report for all the warehouses and check the option "Group By Warehouses", i get the results that the same warehouse are appear twice in the report. As for the transactions detail of the warehouse are being split into two portions ... BUT it does not happens to all the items ...
The thing is when i trying to generate the report for an item with same parameter settings EXCEPT to select only single warehouse, then the warehouse is not being split into two ...
Anyone have the idea? I had did some researches in SAP Notes, found there is a similar case for the above error, but it is happened to SBO 2007B and being resolve in PL16 and above.. but cannot find any thing for 2007A about this issue...
Appreciate if anyone of you can provide any feedback on this ...

    Hi,
Have you checked SAP Note 1415496?  If that applies to your error, it is a bug.
SAP will deliver patches only for selected releases at its own discretion, based on the business impact and the complexity of the implementation.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall X SAP

    Hello,
Someone has or had any experience on implementing "Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall" in a SAP environment?
I would like to know the impacts of this implementation for SAP System.
Is there anything we have to concern about it from SAP side?

  • What is the best way to audit data

What is the best way to audit actual changes in the data, that is, to be able to see each insert, update, delete on a given row, when it happened, who did it, and what the row looked like before and after the change?
Currently, we have implemented our own auditing infrastructure where we generate standard triggers and an audit table to store OLD (values at the beginning of the Before Row timing point) and NEW (values at the beginning of the After Row timing point) values for every change.
I'm questioning this strategy because of the performance impact it has (significant, to say the least) and because it's something that a developer (confession, I'm the developer) came up with, rather than something a database administrator came up with. I've looked into Oracle Auditing, but this doesn't seem like we'd be able to go back and see what a row looked like at a given point in time. I've also looked at Flashbacks, but this seems like it would require a monumental amount of storage just to be able to go back a week, much less the years we currently keep this data.
    Thanks,
    Matt Knowles

    1. Implement your own custom auditing (as you currently do)
    2. Flashback Data Archive (11g). Requires license.
    3. Version enable your tables with Workspace Manager.

Unfortunately, auditing data always takes lots of space. You must also consider performance, as custom triggers and Workspace Manager will perform much slower than FDA if there is heavy DML on the table.

  • Table with Audit fields

    Hi,
I am designing a schema where in all the data tables will have created_by, created_on, modified_by and modified_on columns to find what & when changes made and who made changes to the records of the tables for audit purpose. These audit columns are rarely used in queries.
Other than the above said audit columns, these tables will have application data columns on an average of 20-25 max.
Will these additional audit columns impact the DML performance on the data tables?
If it is, will it be a good idea creating separate audit table with all these audit columns having one-to-one relationship with the actual data tables? Will this separation really reduce the load on actual data tables and improve the DML performance?
In case of creating separate audit tables, is it advisable creating these audit tables in separate schema? So that, the audit tables and related indexes will be created on a different data file and hence archiving, backup and recovery of actual data tables will be easy.
To update these audit columns on separate tables, using of insert, update & delete triggers is advisable?
    Please advice.
    Thanks in advance
    Sathish

    Welcome to OTN forums!
What's the db version in 4 digits and o/s information?
Why you are reinventing the wheel by adding such columns in the table? Why not to take advantage of the auditing facility which is already there in the database?
