While performing a licensing audit on computers in our domain many computers have come up as having "Visual Studio Ultimate XAML Designer UI 2013" and "Visual Studio Ultimate XAML Designer UI 2012" installed. Does this require ultimate
MSDN license to use? If not what level of licensing does it require? so we can issue the correct level of licensing. Laslty can this be uninstalled separately from visual

How to install AE SDK in visual studio ultimate 2010

Hi,
I want to make plugins from visual studio ultimate 2010 and i don't know how to integrate my visual studio with AE SDK it's like they are just files no package of setup so i can click and install but i guess i have to configure the sdk,i am working with android sdk in eclipse but don't know how to use this one.
BTW i am a new programmer and learning this cool new language and also doing job with after effects and 3ds max for past 5 years.

Arie the thing is that i saw the post you mentioned above and it's kind of tangled,isn't there anyway or any sourceful website for step by step guide because i already mentioned that i am a brand new c/c++ programmer and i have no experience how to do programming in c/c++ as i am android and java developer using eclipse tool so visual studio is somewhat a new world for me.
Please if you have any step by step guidence link or website in your mind,do let me know i anxiously look forward for a step by step guide,but let's say if you don't have anything i want it's perfectly fine i ll try to dig more and work and look in VS 2010 because may be i am new and that's why i can't find the SDK integration.

Visual Studio Ultimate is required to execute test.

I'm trying to run a Load Test using VS2013 Ultimate but VS keeps telling me I'm not :) Snip is attached. I try to run a fairly simple Load Test, GET call against a single web page. Using Constant Load, 5 users, 20 iterations. The individual
Web Test runs fine. I'm running from my dev box so Admin, Controller and Agent all on same machine. Machine is Windows Server 2012 R2
Exact error is "Visual Studio Ultimate is required to execute test."
I'm signed in, my profile looks right and my subscriptions are good. What am I missing? Whats going on here?

Thanks for your posting in the MSDN forum.
As you said that the Test Controller and Agent are in the same machine, I think you run your load test with them, am I right? If so, how about run your test locally wihtout using the Test Controller and Test Agent. For example, just disable the
.testsettings file, run it again.
If it still has this issue, how about running it in other VS machine? If the same test works well in other VS, I doubt that it is your VS IDE issue.
In addition, Where did you get this VS2013 version? Maybe you could re-download it from the official site, test it again.

Like Bill's suggestion, firstly we have to make sure that we find the correct project template options.
But if you still get this issue, one possible reason is that the project templates don't load correctly.
Run the command line:
devenv.exe /InstallVSTemplates

Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 can't connect to IIS Express 7.5 on Windows 7 Virtual Machine Using Parallels 6.0

Here is what I am using:
MacBook Pro - Version 10.7.5 with 128 GB SSD
Parallels 6.0
Windows 7 Home Premium
Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate
IIS Express 7.5 download that changed it to IIS Express 8.0
I also have WebMatrix but I am not planning on using it.
I am a novice when it comes to development and these technologies so I am sure that has some impact on my issues.
I have spent a lot of time looking between the various forums to find a solution and they all seem to offer parts but not an entire and workable solution to solve the two errors that I receive when starting a new project and/or web site:
1-
Configuring IIS Express Failed with the following error:
Filename: redirection.config
Error: Cannot read configuration file
2-
Unspecified Error Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004005 (E_FAIL))
Based on the research I believe it has something to do where the IIS Express files are located on the Mac side of the computer. I have tried to map them back to the Windows machine but I still get the same errors.
I understand it should be looking in the documents folder on the C Driver for the user, which is Administrator. I have tried to redirect, open the port, change the Firewall settings to no avail. I believe it is something very simple
but I am not seeing it. I did turn on the Windows Features for IIS and removed the read only check box for the IIS Folder.
I have looked at the binding and port settings but cannot figure out how to make changes there. I think I need to remove local host and replace it with my computer name. I did try this but it didn't work. Here are the defaults:
Please let me know what you think and share a possible solution. Remember that I am a novice and some things will go over my head so the more detail the better.
I am happy to not use IIS Express and just use IIS because the volume of development is low. I am also open to using VS directly onto Azure and bypassing IIS if that is the best solution. I say this because I saw some posts that state there isn't
a workaround.

Windows store app template problems in visual studio ultimate 2013 update 4 version

You can't develop Windows Store app with Windows 7. So when you installed VS 2013 on a Win7, the templates are not present. Only the template compatible with Win7 are installed.

Could you please tell me if you add a data connection from Server Explorer Window in Visual studio 2013 Ultimate update
4 and then you get the error message?
If yes, to check if the issue is related to the VS IDE issue, I suggest you can execute the following commands to check if it can
help you add data connection in VS2013 Ultimate Update 4.
(1)I suggest you can run your VS in safe mode by executing Devenv.exe /SafeMode to add a data connect again.
(2)I suggest you can use the Devenv.exe /ResetSettings to restores the IDE's default settings, optionally resets to the specified
VSSettings file.
(3)You can execute the Devenv.exe /ResetAddin to remove commands and command UI associated with the specified Add-in.
In addition, if you used the SQL Server Express to connect the data in VS, you need to specify the server name
as MyComputerName\SQLEXPRESS. If you used the SQL Server to connect the data in VS. Please you try to specify the server name as MyComputerName\InstanceName here to check the result.
If still no help, according the error, it indicates that the problem is that the system cannot locate the right assembly (SQL
Server SDK). So I think you may get better response and solutions if you consult on SQL Server forums.

Can't update Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 trial from 30 days to 90 days?

I can't update the 30 day trial for Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate.
I have followed the instructions to register the product.
But although the message says "license downloaded successfully", the license stays at 30 days.
Any help would be appreciated?

I cannot connect to my basic SQL server from Visual Studio Ultimate 2013? Error 40 - Cannot establish connection

I just started learning ASP.NET through a book, and it asks to connect to "your" SQL server and explore a .mdf file. I've been trying to install SQL, but I only just now got a working installation, and even then it won't let me install the Management

This is exactly what I do to connect:
1) Open project
2) Navigate to the Server Explorer
3) Click on connect to database
4) In this menu, I can see me Machine name on the top part, which I think means that it's picking up my server runningh
5) On the bottom, it wants me to enter a database name. I think this may be my problem, as I have no idea what to do here.

Did you choose the correct Server name? It should be the machine name where you installed SQL Server on.
Is it empty when you open select or enter database name drop box in the Add connect dialog box in the Visual Studio 2013?

The screenshots indicates that the SQL Server is not accessible.
Do you mean that you are not able to connect SQL Server by using SQL Server Management Studio?
If so, make sure that SQL Server Services is started.

Connecting Visual Studio 2008 to Team Foundation Server 2012/2013

I currently have many projects in VS 2008.
We are able to build and deliver all of the products to the production servers.
I want to connect VS2008 to VisualStudio.com so I can create an environment for Beta Testing with VisualStudio.com and Azure.
I have started from scratch:
Build a VMWare Virtual Machine - Windows 7 Ultimate
Added all of the Windows Updates
I installed Visual Studio 2008 - Professional
I updated Visual Studio 2008 to SP1
I have installed VS2008 Team Explorer
Unable to install GDR2 - with message "Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your system. '
I attempted to follow the "more information" instructions but there were no previous version to uninstall.
I attempted to login to Team Foundation Server (https://nnnnnn.visualstudio.com/DefaultCollection) and receive the "TF31002: Unable to connect to ....
I am able to login to the visualstudio.com site without any issue.
I have been working on this for days and no matter what I have read and tried, I cannot seem to get past this point.
I tried using a laptop I have and did the same steps as above with the same results.
It is obvious I am missing a step or that this process is longer possible.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Is there a "support" number that might help me resolve this?

Visual Studio 2008 Dataset Designer

Hello,
I've noticing an annoying issue using VS2008 Final with ODT 11 beta2.
When I change any object from DataSet designer the VS2008 freezes for awhile. In the same time one Oracle (10g R2) process hits 100% CPU usage.
What does the designer do to consume so many CPU cycles?
My Oracle Server is installed on Linux (Dual Xeon, 4G RAM) and my Windows Vista is a Core 2 Duo 2G RAM.

Hi, I have same problem when create DataTable with join tables.( Where section is like "Where xxxx=yyyy(+)" )
When I create a DataTable on QueryBuilder,I should wait 3-10minutes.
The issue you describe should be fixable by adding filters. Go to the connection in server explorer and click the Filters tab. Set it up so only a few tables, views, procedures, packages and functions are shown in Server Explorer.
Then try to create the table adapter again.
Please make sure you are using ODT 11.1.0.7 (or later)This is not fixable for me.
So. I'm using 11.1.0.6.20 ODT, and 11.1.0.7.20ODAC.
( install 11.1.0.6.20 with ODT first, install 11.1.0.7.20ODAC( without ODT ) next )
I hope fix this problem ASAP.

Is there an Uninstall Package for Visual Studio Ultimate 2015 CTP?

Having some serious issues using VS 2015 Ultimate CTP and need to revert back to VS 2013 Community Edition. Can someone please point me in the direction of an uninstall package for VS 2015 Ultimate CTP, if there even is one? In a very tight time crunch right
now and don't have time to go through the whole computer and find all files associated with 2015. I've already used Control Panel > Programs to Uninstall, however, it appears that there are still some 2015 files lingering...

Different versions of VS install as complete separate programs. Your issues with uninstalling the VS 2015 CTP should not interfere with installing VS 2013 CE.
Have you tried simply installing VS 2013 CE? It should work and give you what you want.

Visual Studio 2010 Datset Designer & ODAC 11.2.0.1.2

When I drop a table on the dataset designer it can hang up to 10 minutes before finally adding the table.
This gets even worse when trying to add a new query to a table. It can hang for up to 1 hour.
I checked activity in Oracle and it is moving since it ends up adding the query. There is very little activity on the database.
I followed what an other thread recommended, use filters and reduce what objects the userid sees. I did that and in fact it can only see 10 tables and one package anyway.
What can be done to correct this issue?

I just saw your reply to my post.
I found that the designer slows down when I remove the schema name from a sql statement in the designer view.
If I had Select ACCT_ID from AGG.TABLE_NAME it updates quicky. If I remove AGG. then update the sql statement in the designer then click OK the time it takes to update can vary from 1 minute to at times 1 hour.
I have filters in place to only look at the AGG schema, and only packages, and tables.
I have not seen the issue of the designer running over the link and querying another database again.
But for sure removing the schema name AGG.Table_NAME from the front of the table slows down the designer to a halt.
