Auditing without FGA

Hi,
I have a requirement to monitor database queries on a particular database view involving a data depending condition.
Example
COL1 COL2 COL3
001 XXX ABC
002 YYY ABC
003 XXX XYZ
If someone query for COL3 = XYZ (results set has the row where COL3 = XYZ) then I need to trigger an email notifying that to a user. But if the same user query the same table and did not get the row with COL3 = XYZ in the result set then it should not send out the notification.
Is this possible to achieve without FGA? I can't use fga since the DB is Oracle 10g standard edition.

No, you'd need FGA for this sort of thing.
Database Vault may have something to offer as well but that would also be an additional license so you're probably better served spending your money on an enterprise edition license.
If all of your data access goes through an API (i.e. your applications cannot query the table directly), you could potentially figure out a way to add this sort of logging to your API layer. Exactly how you would do that, however, is very application-dependent and may be quite difficult.

  • Can WSUS audit without downloading updates?

    Hi,
    I am about to setup and Windows 2012 r2 WSUS server. I would like to audit the updates I need, but not download the updates to the server. I would rather find the old applications like Office 2007 and upgrade them rather than having to keep updating them.
    The same goes for Vista, Project, Visio etc.
    Can I just select all products and categories and leave synchronisation schedule to manual?
    Best wishes
    Michael

    Yes,it's possible. In Wsus 'Options' -> 'Files and Langages', choose 'download updates files on this server, only when updates have been approve'. So that clients computer will be able to report on needed updates without having to download it on the
    server.

  • Purging of Audit Records(FGA)

    Hi,
    I have enabled Fine Grain Auditing on production database with an DBMS_FGA.XML,DBMS_FGA.EXTENTED options.Files are getting generated in the ADUMP destination with XML format.I have purged all the XML audit files that are generated on 24-NOV-2010 from ADUMP destination.Even though when i have purged the files when i have queried the following query for the date 24-nov-2010 my query is still giving the results for the date 24-nov.
    select sql_text ,object_name,db_user from v$xml_audit_trail where trunc(EXTENDED_TIMESTAMP)='24-NOV-2010'
    According to my knowledge for the fine grain audting with the XML option when i have queried the V$XML_AUDIT_TRAIL dynamic view oracle will parse the XML files which are in adump dest and share the results.
    Could you please assist me even though records for the date 24-nov not exists in adump destination how ORACLE is showing the contents in V$XML_AUDIT_TRAIL
    Thanks in advance..

  • Should I use the fine-grained auditing?

    I need to record the changes (of data) made to serveral tables by users. For example, I have to check the before and after images of the changes and what kind of transactions they do to cause the changes. Sould I program the logging procedure in the application or should I use the fine-grained auditing function of oracle to do it. I am not sure what this built-in function can do for me. Can anyone give me some advice on this? Thks.
    A beginner

    Why Fine-Grained Auditing?
    You may want to check standard auditing if it is suitable for you

    I don't think you can get pre and post update values of the affected data with Auditing.
    FGA is useful when you want to audit just a "subset" of the data in the table.
    (for instance, audit everyone that wants to get all records from EMP table where SALARY > 100000)

  • BO 4.0 Audit Universe Deleted Reports/Duplicate Records

    Hi,
    I'm using the BO 4.0 Audit Universe for a project/report. The idea is to show just the user name against report name, run date and run time. The problem lies in the report name. The universe does these:
    In case of deleted reports, the report name is prefixed and suffixed with a series of numbers i.e xxxxx_<Report Name>_yyyyy.
    Is there any dimension upon which I can filter these entries out assuming I don't want them in my report even if they were run on that particular date but do not exist in the system now - a dimension that shows the current status of the corresponding report, whether they are available or deleted?
    Another issue is, if the report name has been changed (the CUID remains the same), the resultant data set brings up individual records for each of the report names.
    For eg.,
    Date
    CUID
    Name
    Runs
    March 1
    AaabbccDeFF
    Drilldown Report
    5
    March 7
    AaabbccDeFF
    Detailed Report
    7
    March 20
    AaabbccDeFF
    Detailed Report V1.02
    3
    This is how the result data set brings up. Is it possible to bring them all under one name (the latest) so that, in the above example, only the last record turns up with a total runs of 15?
    Back info: MSSQL is used and I do not have access to the database. I have access to just the universe. Neither do I have access to CMC. However, if anything needs to be done at either of these levels, I can push for the concerned team to get that done. Also, the final medium of reporting will be both a WebI  report and a Dashboard.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rangarajan

    Thanks, got it. Is it possible, by any means, to get that information through the Audit schema by adding it but not manually? I mean, is there an alternative to bring that into Audit without manually creating a user master and including it in the schema?
    Thanks,

  • Problem with playback in Audition CC

    Hello everyone,
    im new here and work with Audition CC at the moment..
    now i went into an error or problem that i dont know how to solve.
    Simple as that i have a laptop with a Realtek HD Audio Soundcard and want to play many clips in a multitrack in Audition..
    the thing is, it seems that Audition does not have a problem playing back the whole audio track or bigger parts of it..
    But when i cut the clip into smaller clips and paste them each after one then Audition seems to have playback crackle problems..
    It could be that the latency is not accurate or the bits of the soundcard (currently at 24bit, 48kHz) are not correct..
    I dont know what to do exactly?!
    I tried many things but it didnt come to a conclusion yet..
    this is how the multitrack looks like atm:
    The bigger parts could be played back by Audition, the smaller ones NOT!
    this is how the preferences look like atm:
    Can you help me??
    Thanks in advance,

    4 questions:
    1. can i convert a whole multitrack session to 32bit after working with it is done??
    or is there a driver or sth that supports 32bit for my soundcard?? (im no expert on this area..)
    2. is 24bit so much worse than 32bit?? does it sound differently?
    3. how can i solve it that if i exit Audition without saving any track sometimes doesnt save the standard settings i made before like standard view (bars & beats) or last imported files are all gone! or new multitrack session preferences??? thats soo bad if i have to make the settings all again
    4. can i drag & drop a mp3-file into Audition instead of pressing the Open.. button??
    1 & 2. Generally, unless you've set them otherwise, multitrack sessions will be in 32-bit Floating Point anyway - it's the internal working format. It's the Floating Point bit that's different - this isn't an integer format like 24-bit at all. It is like 24-bit - that's it's basic bit depth, but it goes further than that; the other bits are scaling and sign bits, and it's these that make it far more flexible in production - you virtually can't overload the format, neither can you shrink signals so small that they can't be fully recovered; it's clever! Unfortunately sound devices can't cope with this though, and if you present a massive 32-bit signal to them, then they will overload their outputs and sound dreadful. So, the driver in your sound device interprets the 32-bit signals correctly, converts them to 24 bit internally, because that's how real world signals fed to an A-D converter have to be. It's up to you to get it right. Other than that, there's absolutely no sound difference at all.
    So in production terms, the big advantage of Floating Point signals is that you don't get the loss you'd get from shrinking integer signals too small, and saving them as such, when you'd lose the bit depth for ever.
    3. You have to save your desktop layout as a separate preset, and then you should be able to recall it with all of its settings. If all of your settings are disappearing though, then it's possible that the .xml file that they are being written to is being deleted by something like a system protection system, and then you'll be back to a vanilla system when Audition can't find them (the vanilla files get restored automatically).
    4. I think you can drag and drop MP3 files, yes. They will automatically get converted into whatever the session format is though - Audition can't handle them directly in that format at all.

  • Automate HFM Task Audit Export

    I am trying to find a way to export the daily task audit info and email it to our auditors on a nightly basis. I figure if I can find out which table in the HFM database contains this audit info I can write something to automatically export it. Does anyone know where I can find this audit task data? I have searched tables in the HFM database and I am unable to determine this.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi there,
    Check the Consultant Tools that are installed with HFM. There is a quite simple tool which allows you to extract the task and data audit without any effort at all.

  • Audition 3 on a Mac

    Not really being able to find a suitable place to vent my frustration, I thought I'd put it here.
    Yet again, Adobe releases another version of Audition without a Mac OS equivalent. When are you going to listen to your customers and rectify this?
    On your own site, you reference that Soundbooth is for people with very limited background in sound editing, and that Audition is for professionals - and although this is probably an exaggeration, you'll probably find MANY more professionals in the media industry working on Mac's because of their stability.
    I've used this software for nearly a decade in its various guises - but I'm just disappointed AGAIN by this shortsightedness. If anyone from Adobe would like to comment, I'd love to hear your corporate stance on this.

  • Can I install my old version of Audition (v.1 build 3211.2) on Windows 8 system?

    I have used Audition v.1 (build 3211.2) (from 2003) for years and am very happy with it.  It does exactly what I need.  But my old computer is dying, and I have just bought a new Windows 8 system.  The tech doing setup says this version of Audition will not run with Windows 8.  Can I install it and run it somehow?  If not, will it run on Windows 7?  (I might be able to trade the 8 unit for a 7).  If not, can I upgrade to the current Audition without paying?  I am reluctant to have to learn a new version of the program, as I am so used to the old version.  Any help appreciated.  Thanks!

    Never mind!  (I hope.)  The tech guy just called back and said he was able to install it using the command prompt instead of using the graphical interface.  So I hope it will work.  Will update if that helps.  Thanks.

  • Auditing a process started at boot time

    Hi All,
    I am having a problem with auditd. I am starting a process of my own at boottime that I would like to audit. I think the problem lies in that my process is not getting an auditID. If I run the process from a terminal after the system is started it audits correctly, only when started at boot will it not audit.
    I have the process's audit class defined in the audit_control file as such (md is my audit class):
    dir:/var/audit
    flags:md,lo,ad,-fw,-fm,-fd,-nt,no
    minfree:50
    naflags:md
    I thought placing it under naflags would allow it to audit without attributes, but this does not work. The audit event and audit class are also properly in place.
    Any help with getting a process to audit when started at boot would be greatly appreciated.
    Victor

    Hi,
    Processes, are not able to start at boot-time as the "processes" is a OS based concept. The closest method you can do is replace the bootloader of Windows with your bootloader then load the Windows through your bootloader, and before loading the OS your
    Bootloader can perform any calculations or start files up as soon as Windows loads. This is the only way to start processes closest to Boot time.
    In windows vista+ OS this technique would not work because Windows Vista+ has Session separation which by design separates processes into sessions and if you were to start it as soon as the OS starts the process would crash the entire OS as the process would
    not be able to fit in any session as it started before "Winlogon.exe"
    process. Therefore it is not really possible.

  • Please help with audit

    Hi there,
    I'm' trying to audit users who does "a'ter table" and capture the SQL command of the "alter" statement. It doesn't matter if it's audit or FGA.
    I've tried these sql below and it doesn't work.

    dbms_fga.add_policy( object_schema => 'APPUSER',
    object_name => 'EMP_INFO',
    policy_name => 'audit_alter',
    statement_types => 'alter',
    handler_schema => 'system',
    ENABLE => TRUE );
    end;
    \\dbms_fga.add_policy( object_schema => 'APPUSER',-

    ORA-06550: line 2, column 1:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    audit alter on emp_info WHENEVER SUCCESSFUL;
    This doesn't give me the "alter" sql command.

    I don't know if audit statement should work or not. You could also try to code a trigger on system event 'BEFORE ALTER' or 'AFTER ALTER' ( you should be able to retrieve the SQL text with the system defined event attribute: ora_sql_text)

  • Exporting merged audio tracks to audition problem

    Hello,
    I recently started to work with the Adobe suit so i am not yet used to the workflow. We are serval people working on the post production of a short movie filmed with a red SCARLET in raw which means that the files are pretty big. The audio where captured in serval tracks who all have been merged with the video clips. The clips have thereafter been cut and placed in its right place. So now it is my job to work with the sound design. I have tryd to export the audio in both AAF and OMF and every time i open it up in Audition it sais that the media is offline. On my computer all i have is the orgininal Audio files. Is there anyway to get only the audio (all the tracks) to Audition, without having them searching for the merged files. For example creating new Audio from the cutted tracks?

    Have you tried this?

  • Extremely long video preview export for Audition

    I'm using Premiere Pro CC, and since my last update (I'm on Build 8.2.0 (65)) I have had extremely long export times when attempting to roundtrip to Audition. For example, a 10 minute sequence can take 4 hours before I cancel and send to Audition without video. I know there have been other discussions about this -- is there a solution?

    My version of Photoshop ( 13.0.1 x 64) doesn't have this option listed in the File/export menu. Am I missing something?

  • Is it possible to record from 2 different mics in adobe audition?

    I have a blue snowball mic and a blue yeti mic and I want to record from both on the same computer (co-hosting a podcast). Is that possible in adobe audition without a mixer board?
    Thanks!

    ackadams wrote:

    Whilst it's possible to record as many ordinary mics as you want at once in Audition using a sound device capable of supporting them, it's not possible to use more than one USB mic at a time very easily, if at all. And even if you could get something like ASIO4ALL to recognise both at once, you'd still need to have the OS resample them, because they wouldn't have synchronised clocks, and this will inevitably lead to loud clicks at inappropriate places. And in Windows at least, I don't think that's possible at all, and even if it was I'm not sure that it would have them on seperate channels. In short, I'm pretty sure that it won't work. People seem to have a lot of problems with just using a single USB mic, never mind two of them...
    Apparently on a Mac it's easier to aggregate USB mics, but you'd still run into the problem of synchronising them, because each does its own digitising, with no external clock reference.
    If you want to use two mics at once, then absolutely the best way to do this is to use either a sound device that supports two mics, and use ordinary mics with it, or get a small mixer with a USB output, and mix a pair of ordinary mics in that. If you want to keep the channels separate, then all you have to do is pan one mic to the left channel, and the other to the right - you can arrange a better mix during editing.

  • Audition 4 for Mac - Recording Streaming Audio

    Hello All,
    Apologies to all if this subject has been covered already, but couldn't find the answer.
    I have just downloaded Audition 4 for Mac (beta), and I'm trying to work out how to record streaming audio off iTunes, Youtube etc, straight into Audition, without picking up anything else in the background?
    Thanks in advance!

    audition4 is good for Mac while recording streaming audio, cool it is. But i guess there are free applications for recording streaming audio, for some users. More options can be available for you here: audacity, limewire, streaming music recorder.
