AUR Vmware Question

Hi,
When using VMWare Workstation from the AUR, do i have to worry about it breaking when the kernel is upgraded? I remember something about having to recompile the kernel modules before, but the AUR package seems to just use a daemon.

I only use vmware player, but the wiki entry on that has a similar story on kernel upgrades, the page is here:

It looks like you need to rebuild the vmware modules package if vmware stops working, you can do this by downloading the source from vmware's site again, but you only need to do this if a newer version is available from their site. All of this is vmware player, but I think the same applies to the workstation version.

Currently, we have Business Objects 11.5 and Data Integrator 11.7.3.0 installed on physical servers. We are researching the possibility of P2Ving (physical to virtual) the servers into our VMware ESX virtual farm.
1) Does SAP support VMware under our service contract?
2) If it SAP does not support VMware, please point me to the KB articles stating that SAP does not support VMware virtualization for both environments. I will need this documentation to request new physical servers, as our current servers are reaching end of life.
If SAP support does cover BOSE and DI under VMware, please comment on any best practices/issues involved with this process.

I would recommend to address those question to SAP support in order to get an official statement about this (http://service.sap.com). Just open an OSS message (like in the case of a product error).

Cisco Prime Infrastructure and VMWare Question

We currently do not have any VMWare configurations. Do we need to have an existing VM server to deploy the virtual appliance. I have been told it comes with an instance that I can deploy. We have a server that is new and beefy with plenty of RAM and Xeon 6 core running windows server 2008 R2. I have deployed VMware in the past. I just want the community input - Talking about Prime Infrastructure 1.1 virtual appliance.

The virtual appliance needs to have a VMware hpervisor. You can use ESXi as a bare metal hypervisor.

[solved] vmware-server aur build fails

I'm trying to install vmware-server from aur. Downloaded the .tar.gz file from vmware, placed it in the build directory, and let it go. Build fails with the following:

Does anyone know of a solution? virtualbox works great, but doesn't support TI's MSP430UIF FET, which is why I'm trying out vmware.

Trying again... I haven't been able to find a solution. Is there something else I should be doing to install vmware-server and vmware-server-modules?

VMware from AUR

Hi all,
I've been trying to get Vmware Server to a usable state bun unfortunatelly I just can't get it right I've installed everything from AUR aur/vmware-server 2.0.2-1; aur/vmware-server-console 1.0.10-1 and aur/vmware-server-modules 2.0.2-3 sucessfully. The problem is when I try to run VMware I can't connect to Local and be able to do anything

I had the same problem with VMware. I also tried to connect with the VMware remote console, but got a similar error. In both cases it seems that it can not connect to the server for some very strange reasons.
I gave it another try with VMware player. The latest available version 3.1.0 and the previous version 3.0.1. Both versions did not start. The version 3.1.0 did not install a init script and 3.0.1 failed to start. In the end I gave up searching for errors.
Now I'm using VirtualBox and I am quite impressed of it's speed and stability. As long as you need a desktop virtualisation virtualbox will be probably all you need. I found it easier than vmware server. Sadly I was unable to try vmware player. So I can not compare the speed, but it is definetly faster than vmware servers remote console. But on the other hand the remote console of vmware server was developed for other purposes. It's not intended to be used as a desktop solution like vmware player.
If you need a full vmware server replacement then maybe xen would be a good try. Did not use it though, yet.

[SOLVED] Installation to a Bcache Device - A Few Questions

I'm installing arch to a bcache device following instructions on this page:

One thing I can't figure out.....
Step 1 is to boot into the install disc....DONE
.... at this point no partitioning has been done....
Step 2 is to install bcache-tools from the AUR.
Question: how can I install packages from the AUR if I don't have the base-devel group installed on my system yet? Am I overlooking a step or missing something obvious? Please help I'm stomped.

VMware 9.0.2 vmnet fails to build on 3.13.7

So yet another thread and problem with VMware and I've tried all different kind of patches from all kind of places without any results.
As usual with an upgrade (Syu) I needed to rebuild vmblock and vmnet. vmblock built successfully using the available patches for 3.13, vmnet however didn't.
I've tried the solution listed on http://dandar3.blogspot.se/2014/01/vmwa … alpha.html, tried the one listed on the wiki (patch that came with vmblock), tried the patch in the AUR vmware-patch, but nothing. I've also tried reinstalling the packages listed in some threads that got it working for a few people, that did however not help me.
This is the log from the last run, I've used the patch that came with vmblock (the solution listed on the wiki), I'm using the stock kernel which means no netfilter.

this issue was particularly upsetting today, as my phone was at 100% last night, during the night Irene knocked our power out, and apparently something about this drained by battery to only 40% when I woke up. Luckily my laptop is charged, so I can usb charge my phone, but I had hoped to use that later in the day, not first thing in the morning.
hopefully a resolution to this is being worked on.

Logging into vmware server

I have installed VMWare Server 2.0.x from AUR. I cannot figure out how to log into the console. When running vmware-config.pl the first time I used my normal username as the administrator username. When I realized it had to be an administrator on the computer, I reran vmware-config.pl and changed the administrator to 'root'. In both cases it will not accept my password. I'm stuck and cannot figure out how to proceed from here.
Any suggestions?

Je n'est pas encore achetez l'application, car j'ai quelque question a vous posez...
en effet, a partie de cette application on crées la base de notre site, on fait les emplacement les menu etc, aprés en restant toujours sur l'appli nous pouvons modifier les titres etc ? pas besoin d'avoir une autre application pour cela ?
ensuite imaginons que j'ai fait toute la structure de mon site, mis les textes les titres etc, il faudrait que je donne un peu de couleurs, si j'ai bien compris on ne peux pas le faire avec cette application, alors comment peut on faire le design du site internet ??
ensuite pour la mise en ligne du site comment sa se passe ? y'a t'il besoin d'un hébergeur ? j'ai du mal a comprendre
Désolé de mes question mais sa serait un peu béte de dépenser 7.99€ dans cette application et que a la fin je n'arrive pas a crée mon site internet...

Cette application sert à faire la wireframe, la structure de base du site web. Un peu comme un croquis avant de faire un tableau
Il me semble qu'après, on passe sur dreamweaver (une application payante pour PC/Mac) pour le design proprement dit. L'hébergement est à part, comme pour tout site web.
L'application n'est donc pas suffisante pour créer un site complet, c'est surtout un outil pour les webdesigners qui font les premiers jets d'un site avec un client.

Extending C drive on virtual server

Hello forum, Please can someone advise if extending C drive in this scenario will require reboot?
Server = Windows 2008 R2
Pagefile = system managed
Platform = VMware
I will be extending the drive on C drive but not sure if that will require reboot? I have read and experienced that it is not possible in 2003 to extend C drive without moving pagefile to a different drive. Is it the case in 2008 R2 as well?
I understand this is more like VMware question but I thought of using Microsoft forum. I have only worked with 2000 and 2003 so far. Please help.

Hi,
You cannot extend the partition if the system page file is located on the partition. Move the page file to a partition that you do not want to extend. If there is page file located on the 2008 R2 C driver, you also need to move the page file.

[SOLVED] unable to reach graphical.target

Hey Archers,
my issue begins with me trying to patch vmware for 3.6.3-1-arch
I tried using vmware & this told me the modules were not present for 3.6.3 so I went to grab latest from AUR (vmware-patch), the comments on there suggested that the ones for 3.5.x still worked but needed to be rebuilt.
so I read these instructions:

I noticed that in the finishing up section it gave a warning that if I update the kernel need too issue the following:
vmware-modconfig --console --install-all
so I ran this & tried to run vmplayer
this opened but crashed as soon as i tried to play a VM, I then decided that as I had not used it for some time I would just remove it:
vmware-installer --uninstall-product vmware-player
this finished & so I ran:
pacman -R vmware-patch
all was ok (so I thought) a while later I had to reboot to do something in my win7 install (non volatile) upon completing I rebooted back to arch & now my install refuses to boot & I see:
Failed to start load Kernel Modules [FAILED] see 'systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service' for details
obviously systemd fall's over & offers to enter password or control-D to continue
well the system refuses to go any further & locks up totally (no flashing kbd lights like a panic though!)
the exact same happens when I boot the fallback kernel
I can chroot into it using the old media (CORE 2011.08.19) which is the most recent I have, whilst chrooted in I thought perhaps the old vmware modules did not get removed correctly so I blacklisted them in:
/etc/modprobe.d/vmware.conf
blacklist vmmon
I have managed to get into the system using the following boot parameter:
systemd.unit=rescue.target
I then ran:
systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service
this provided the default message about the service not starting but no reason why or what caused it to fail
So any advice or way forward would be appreciated as I am totally lost & have googled everything I can think of which may help but this is the first time I have b0rk3d the modules & am lost as to what to do .

cheers for the response WonderWoofy usb is now working (removed a bunch of devices i don't use constantly)
i have been all over the FS & can no longer find conf files for vmware.
I really have no clue as to what is stopping my eth0 from starting & now i find that because this is not up xorg no longer wants to either as it cant find a screen due to no network (i thought this would use lo!)

Je travaille actuellement sur l'amélioration d'un programme sous vision.
Il s'agit d'un programme qui avait été dévellopé pour le concour robotique des NI days.
L'idée était de visualiser les couleurs du rubic's cube, et de déterminer de qu'elle côté elles se trouvaient afin de pouvoir le positionner par la suite sur la bonne face.
Malheureusement, au finale nous n'avons pas put l'utiliser car il n'était pas au point et que nous manquions de temps.
J'aimerai maintenant l'améliorer ce pourquoi j'aurai quelques questions :
1. La caméra utilisé (Axis M1011 : http://www.axis.com/fr/files/datasheet/ds_m10_40707_fr_1009_lo.pdf) ne me parait pas approprié pour détecter précisement différentes couleur à au moins 2m et suffisament rapidement. En sachant que l'idée est de faire un positionnement en temps réel, il faut pouvoir détecter différent élément côté à côte, faire du suivit de ligne etc ...
Quel est votre avis sur le choix de la caméra ? n'en faudrait-il pas une plus rapide avec une meilleurs résolution ou tout dépend-il du programme ?
2. Le programme qui a été concu par mes collègues me parait lui même lent au niveau de l'analyse. Que pourrais je faire pour l'améliorer ?
De plus, si vous aviez des sites web ou des tutos pour que je puisse progresser en vision, cela m'aiderai beaucoup.

1) Au niveau des conseils pour votre caméra, je vous invite vivement à contacter National Instruments au 0157662424 et demander le service commercial, ils sauront vous diriger vers le matériel adéquat. Maintenant, j'attendrai d'abord, si j'étais vous, d'améliorer votre code et de vérifier si le souci provient bien du matériel. Vous m'aviez fait part de temps réel, j'espère que vous avez soit une smart caméra ou une cible temps réel comme un compact RIO ou une sBRIO.
2) J'ai regardé votre programme, vous devriez utiliser une structure producteur consommateur. Dans la boucle producteur, vous venez récupérer votre image, vous transmettez les infos via une FIFO dans la boucle consommateur, enfin vous réalisez votre traitement dans cette boucle. L'exécution de votre code sera beaucoup plus optimale.
Ce que je vous propose de faire, c'est de vous rendre sur notre site www.ni.com, en haut à droite, vous avez un onglet de recherche. Si vous tapez producteur consommateur (essayez également en anglais) ou vision (essayez également "OCR", fonction de reconnaissance), vous aurez à votre disposition une grande quantité d'informations et d'exemples.

Problem with OID 11.1.6 clustering.

Hi,
i have created two OID instances for single database, later i have configured zen load balancer to those instances. i have connected to OID both instances are running, latter i stopped one instance of OID and i refreshed the ldap browser it is unable to transfer the control to next instnace. how to achinve OID clustering.
can any one help me, urgent requirement.

Problème d'échantillonnage de sinus et cosinus

débutant en labview et étudiant en électronique, j'ai une question dans un tp que je n'arrive pas à traiter.
Voici la question :
"créer un tableau contenant N valeurs de la fonction sinus pour des valeurs d'angle comprises entre 0 et 2*P, P étant le nombre de périodes , N P et l'amplitude A sont fixes depuis la face avant. Tracez la courbe à la fonction graphe".
a) tracer en fonction du nombre de points
b)tracer en fonction de la valeur de l'angle. Il faut alors créer un Cluster grâce à la fonction assembler.

Je suis tout à fait d'accord avec Ludovic. Notamment, si il s'agit d'un TP, c'est probablement que vous avez eu les leçons nécessaires pour le faire.
Quel est votre problème exactement? Qu'est-ce qui vous semble ne pas aller dans votre exemple? Qu'est-ce que vous n'arrivez pas à faire?
J'aurais quelques questions par rapport à votre exemple:
- Quel est le but du tableau initialisé?
- Etes-vous sûr qu'il est bien initialisé? (regardez l'aide, et l'aide contextuelle (CTRL+H))
- Savez-vous à quoi servent les informations que vous avez utilisé pour créer un Cluster à afficher dans le graphe?
- Après, je ne sais pas si cela fait parti de votre exercice ou pas, mais je pourrais vous conseiller de regarder la palette de fonctions "Traitement de signal", vous pourriez y trouver des fonctions intéressantes pour la création de sinus.
