Authorization based on Material

Hi Friends,
I want to give authorization to some users only for certain material groups. Normally in PFCG transaction, we can give authorization for purchasing group, plant, company code etc. But I could not find how to control the authorization for material code.
Please suggest regarding this issue.

Hi,
You can do this by the way of authorization control. In transaction PFCG, select your role for creating / changing the material master. Select option Maintenance statuses. Then at change status option select material type that you want to give the authorization to the users. Create profile & save the role. Now assign the role to the users. Better Consult Basis Consultant.

    of course it is not possible. the multitude of application transactions cares nothing about authorisation objects bound to the material master like M_MATE_MAR or the other one with authorisation groups (which has the additional disadvantage that you would have to group all materials ...)
    This subject has been stated in this forum various times, I put a small link farm here (only the most recent/relevant from the search function ):
    So, here goes ... one more time: ME39 does not care about material master related authorisation objects unless you make it do so by coding something or other ...

    Please help me to find a solution on Authorization control on material reservation creation and change (MB21 & MB23).
    Client looking for a control over end user on those T.Code s but not at T.Code level;
    Client looking for control either based on "Storage location" and/or u201CProduct hierarchyu201D.
    More specifically, user A and B both can Create/Change MR but user A only can do it for the MR which related to storage location say YY while B authorized for storage location ZZ

    Only available Standard SAP Authorization Objects, related to Reservations, are M_MRES_BWA (Reservations: Movement Type) & M_MRES_WWA (Reservations: Plant) where you can maintain authorizations based on Movement Type & Plant respectively and hence seggested enhancement.
    You can use Tcode-SUIM to search for Basis authorization details i.e. Roles defined for specific transaction/authorization object / profiles.

    Dear Mahendra,
    You can definitely restrict a end-user to only particular Material Type thru Authorizations.
    Authorization Object: M_MATE_MAR
    This can be done thru authorization management. Consult your Basis person or follow this:
    SU01 - Enter the user Id & select display button. Now click on the Roles Tab & note down the role assigned to this user Id.
    Go to T-Code - PFCG - enter the Role name & select the change icon.
    Click on the Authorizations tab page. & then Click on Change Authorization Data.
    Now expand the menu tree of Materials Management: Master Data & further expand the menu tree of Material Master: Material Types. Now click on the change icon next to Authorization Group & select the required Material Type that you want to authorize the end-user.
    This is how you can give authorizations only for a particular Material Type.

  • Analysis Authorization based on Hier node with multiple display hierarchies

    Hi guys - I've got a problem where s.o. might have an idea of how to switch on the light at the end of the tunnel, I am currently standing in:
    Requirement:
    Cost Center Authorization should be given through RSECADMIN, reporting should be possible for any hierarchy that exists for the authorization relevant info object.
    Preferred solution:
    The Cost Center Analysis Authorization should be given through RSECADMIN - Hierarchy node assignment.
    u2022     A dedicated Authorization Cost Center Hierarchy will be maintained in ECC6 as an alternative cost center hierarchy and extracted into BW.
    u2022     The RSECADMIN Hierarchy node assignment should be based on a particular node (Type 2).
    u2022     The display level will be specified as required (here: Level 7)
    u2022     The Authorization granted should be independent of hierarchy name and version (validity 3).
    Reporting Scenario and technical impact:
    As mentioned above, when designing and running a query the user should be able to freely select other (i.e. than the authorization) display hierarchies for the authorization relevant reporting object 'Cost Center' as well. The technical names of the semantically relevant hierarchy nodes could therefore vary. E.g. cost centers 1, 2 and 3, being assigned under hierarchy node u2018Au2019 of the RSECADMIN relevant authorization hierarchy, could be subsumed by hierarchy node u2018Bu2019 in another display hierarchy, which the user may want to display in accordance to his reporting needs. Ideally, the alternative display hierarchy should therefore display node u2018Bu2019.
    My findings so far (based on prototyping) turn out that this is not possible as long u2018Bu2019 (and its hierarchy) is not authorized in RSECADMIN. Can these findings be confirmed? And if not, would anyone have an idea of how to facilitate the reporting scenario?
    Would there be any other way to grant access, possibly based on RSECADMIN single values, and also enable the user to flexibly display hierarchies with only those hierarchy nodes whose single cost center values the user has been given access to?

    I am also in the same situation as you and need to understadn your solution. I understand that you created a Nav Attr on 0COSTCENTER and made this auth relevant whilst ensuring that 0COSTCENTER is NOT auth relevant. This is all fine. The issue was you have multiple hierachies for 0COSTCENTER, how did the new Nav Attr help you solve your issue. When loading 0COSTCENTER what values did you load ino the new Nav Attribute and how did that link to the hierachies? Also, in RSECADMIN you created hiearchy nodes based on the Nav Attribute but I am confused as to what values you have in the Nav Attr.
    I appreciate if you can share your solution from the past in more details.

    Hi,
    Normally, we perform QC activity based on Material Code, i.e. in Material Master we maintain inspection type in QM View for material which needs QC activation during Good Receipt from Production
    Is it possible to perform QC Activity based on Production Version of a material i.e.
    For Example
    Product A having 2 Production Versions
    IF Product A with Production Version 1 then No QC required during goods receipt from production
    IF Product A with Production Version 2 then QC required during goods receipt from production
    So please tell me what feasible solution possible from your side

    Dear Sap User,
    Production version is nothing just a combination of Master recipe/Routing and BOM used for particular production or process.
    If you are having so many production version then you have to choose which you want to choose but if you are having a single production version then it will be chosen automatically.
    Do it once and revert in case of any query.

    I have a new customer requirement, Customer does not want invoices based on the order They want invoices on monthly basis and based on the material means like they want the invoice for all the orders with material A  for the month of April 2011.
    I tried to search something logical in forum but was not able to find it, any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Better you go for yr customised programme where u can have option to enter material and check delivery table and get all delivery no for that particular material and then do billing and invoice. Take help of your ABAPer give him your requirement with logic for monthly billing and sure he will be able to write a customised programme to fulfill yr requirement.
    In short,  Here is the way..... Get a customised programme where you select all dliveries for a partuicular period by date range,  from delivery table based on material and call VF01 ( as u know billing is based on payer. Payer must be same for all deliveries. U can add to check payer criteria as well with material) and then invoice.

    However in quality system, it is failing because in quality system "atinn" value is not 0000000381. It is different.

  • Delivery split for STO based on Material Loading Group

    Hello, I want to split the Delivery created from STO based on material loading group. I checked SAP Note:166397 and it requires copying routine. But this solution is not accepted and looking for other solutions. Please help with any user-exit or badi which can solve the purpose. Delivery needs to be created from VL10B transaction.

    The copy routine is designed for this purpose - it's not clear why the client does not allow the use of it. In my opinion you should find the root casue of their resistance and offer an acceptable solution (if it is possible).
    If you want to solve it in another way I guess you should go into a big development and develop your own copy routine functionality which could mean much more work (for you) and money (of your client) - instread of modifying a copy routine (maybe within few minutes).
