Authorization for Master Data (Customer / Vendor)

Dear All,
I've requirement in Master Data Transaction display (XD03 / XK03), to control the dispaly of data for certain fields based on Authorization. As an example like below...
User X1 to see F1 & F2 data in above master transaction display data
User X2 to see F1 field, but F2 field not authorized...should be displayed as XXX (u2018XXXu2019 u2013 means data exists in database); if data doesn't exits for field F2...then I would like to display as YYY)
Can you please share your thoughts / ideas to implement the above requirement.

SAP standard does not provice such function in XD03/XK03.
Yes, you can achieve this function using custom ABAP code but implementing in sap-standard transaction would be challanging because of the restriction on modifying sap-standard code and not having exits at right place where you would need to implement this.

Yes, we play a greater role in getting the roles defined. We practically don't do it, the basis team gets it done. But, all the list of tcodes per role, authorization objects are to be listed by us. Check with your seniors, you should see the authorization matrix made during the implementation.
This sheet lists all the roles to be assigned along with tcodes, authorization objects and list of the users, who will be assigned these roles. Maintenance engineer and Maintenance manager will obviously be two different roles. It again depends on the size and the way the company works and wants authorization.

Master Data (customer, vendor & material) extraction from ECC6 to BI

I am looking to extract data from the R/3 KNMT table (VD53 txn u2013 Customer-Material Info Record) for BW reporting. Does anyone know if Standard Business Content exists to do so, and where I can find it?

There is no standard content DataSource for the KNMT (Customer-Material Info Record Data Table) table. You will have to create a generic DataSource for this table. You can create a generic delta, based on KNMT-ERDAT, for this generic DataSource.

MDM-XI-ECC for Master data like Vendor and customer

If there are some changes like addition or deletion of some fields in customer or vendor, then it is not possible to use the standard pre-delivered content which SAP has provided.
So in that case, how can we handle that in XI?
For example DEBMDM or CREMDM?
The predefined content splits this into two idocs CREMAS & ADRMAS and serialises and then sends to ECC.
So when there is customization of Idocs, how can we handle it?
Any clues please?

For various reasons I would recommend not using the predefined content. Mainly for the exact scenario in which you describe. If you have to add custom fields, then you can't use the predelivered content, however you can copy the predelivered content and modify it. The MDM content for XI uses XSLT mappings, so if you are familiar with XLST then you can work with those, however I prefer to generate a graphical mapping, because it only takes a few seconds anyway. You simply have your source message be the CREMDM (or DEBMDM) format, and the target is CREMAS and ADRMAS. You simply select the top node of CREMDM and do a 1:1 mapping to CREMAS, then map the ADRC segment of CREMDM to the ADRMAS IDoc. If you use the graphical tool then you can modify your map easier if you need to add or remove fields. For example, if you want to do a IDoc reduction, then you can perform the IDoc reduction in ECC, and then swap that message type out with the one in your graphical map. Or if you want to add fields you can perform an IDoc extension in ECC, and then swap that message type out in XI. It's much easier to make these changes when you've built a graphical map.

BW - Delta for Master data not loading

Hello All,
I am not able to load delta for master data of vendor and material.
The initial load works fine but when I load delta it gives an error
" The extraction program does not support object 0vendor"
" ALE change pointers are not set up correctly"
Do i need to activate the change pointer in BD61. I was not sure so checking up with all experts.

Hi Ravi,
We faced the same problem as you for <b>0MATERIAL_ATTR</b> and we solved it by the following steps,
1. Delete the previous Delta Init for the InfoObject
If you have access to R/3 Side you can follow the steps or you can follow the BW Steps
Goto RSA7 ->Select and Delete the Init for the InfoObject
<b>From BW Side</b>
InfoPackage-> Inti for Source System -> Select & Delete
2. Execute the Init InfoPackage for the InfoPackage again.
3. After successful completion, execute the delta InfoPackage.
We have have got resolved by doing these steps and it may help for your problem as well.

My entity A has 50,000 records.
Entity B has a domain attribute "City" from entity A.
I successfully add new records to the entity B, but after refresh I cannot see any data in the domain attribute "City" for new records (empty cels)!!! Although in the Web client (or through SSMS in table) I can see the data in "City"
attribute (e.g. code_095 {Moscow}).
If I reduce the number of records in the entity A to 20 000, then I see code_095 {Moscow} in Excel 2012 SP1 plagin for MDS.

It cannot be defaulted , Still you can make Mass change for the Vendor master through T.Code MASS >>Object type : Vendor>>Select Gr Based IV Field, Put the check mark & Execute.

MRM1- transportation is not define for master data

Hi Expert!
i try to set up condition records for consignment order type -KONS. But system has given me this message "transportation is not define for master data". Can anyone tell me is it normal? Or is there anything else i have to set up? Please guide me from here. I have to set up MRM1 in order to allow me to do MRKO.

MRM1 is a customizing transaction, however conditions are master data.
This message just tells you that you cannot transport your records from developement system to a production system, as it is usual for other customizing entries.

DBconnect for master data

Hi everbody,
we are extracting customer master data from an Iseries-system cia DBconnect.The relevant info object 'Customer' has attributes and texts.
Generation of the data source and loading of data worked without problems for the info object attributes (after generating the data source in the source system tree with setting 'master data attributes for 'data source type').
Now i would like to extract from the same data source the info object -texts. Problem is that the system does not allow to assign for the same info source 'customer' the source system for a second time: 'No data sources for source system 'Iseries' available/message RSAR383.
This is although I did generate the data source (below the source system tree) a second time with the setting 'master data texts' (for data source type).
While it is normal that I can connect the data source only once to an info source for transaction data, I would expect to be able to use the data source twice for master data when differentiating between 'text' and 'attributes'.
Has anybody an idea on this topic?

thanks for the further clarification on the topic. The problem is now solved following your recommendations. From the source system we receive attributes and texts in one view. The corresponding data source was generated with type 'texts'. I had to manually enter the text fields 0TXTSH, 0TXTMD, 0TXTLG in info source and had to maintain mapping in the communication structure.On info provider level it was possible to create two update rules (type attribut and type text). Then-using one info package- the upload of attributes and texts worked fine.

You make the settings for change transfers in transaction *CFC9 (Change Transfer
for Master Data setting)*
For material masters, customers and vendors, the change transfer can occur
periodically or can be executed online immediately. You also have the option of
deactivating the change transfer.
You can also configure an immediate change transfer for work centers and
resources. In this case, the change transfer only concerns the header data of the
individual work center capacities.

Hi Expert,
To download Vendor Master Data:
Go to T-Code: SE16 and provide LFA1 for General Data and LFB1 for Company Code Data..
and Press Enter, then provide the Vendor Range and Press Execute Button.
Select Menu -- Edit --- Download then select Spread sheet provide the path to save the download file and provide file name and press OK...
Go to the provided path, which may find your Vendor Master Data in Excel format...

SRM Field Control for Master Data fields e.g. hide Street prefix

Hi Experts,
we are using SRM 7 Ehp1.
For the RFx process we need to create bidders.
To simplify the creation of the bidder for the users we would like to hide
all unnecessary fields e.g. Street prefix / Street suffix.
I tried to use the customizing img "SAP Supplier Relationship Management --> SRM Server --> Cross-Application Basic Settings --> Extensions and Field Control (Personalization) --> Configure Field Control"
I've tried the function "Configure Control for Fields on Header Level".
There is a business object type BBP001 for bidders but only 4 fields are available for field control.
It seems this customizing entry is only for transaction data, e.g. SC, PO but not for master data.
Is it possible to hide fields for bidders within SRM?

About delta loading for master data attribute

Hi all,
We have a master data attribute loading failed which is a delta loading. I have to fix this problem but I have two questions:
1. how can I find the those delta requests because I need to delete all these failed requests first, am I right ? Master data is not like cube or ods that we can find the requests in Manage, for master data how can we find them ?
2. Could you please let me know the detailed procedures to perform this delta loading again ?

Look.....for master data.....no need to delete request from the target..........just make the status red.......and repeat the load.....But problem is that master data sometimes does'nt support Repeat delta..........if u repeat......then load will again fail with Update mode R.........in that case u hav to do re-init.......
1) delete the init flag.......(In the IP scheduler >> in the top Scheduler tab >> Initialization option for source system)
2) Init with data transfer(if failed load picks some records)..........otherwise .....init without data transfer.....if the last delta failed picking 0 records.......
3) then Delta.......

2) Repeat the load.....
