Auto create thumbnail from pdf

Hi all, can anyone assist with writing a script to automatically create thumbnails of a saved PDF and then move that thumbnail onto a NAS SMB shared volume?

Take advantage of Automator, and create a workflow that prompts you for a PDF, and then generates thumbnail images of that PDF into a Desktop folder. The workflow will overwrite any thumbnail images associated with the PDF, if you rerun it on the same PDF.
Here is the AppleScript to generate the thumbnail(s) from the PDF, and access the first thumbnail. I am not using a Server here, so that is missing from the AppleScript, but should be a Finder move/copy from your thumbnail folder to the server destination address. The applescript can be saved as an Application on your Desktop.

PDF - Render PDF Pages as Images
Files and Folders - Move Finder ItemsI created a new folder on the Desktop to place the generated thumbnails

Getting Thumbnails from PDF

Hello,
When we use Acrobat Professional to "Create PDF" using "From File" , Acrobat is internally creating the thumbnails for each page and storing these information in one of the layers. I would like to know how to extract those already generated Thumbnail images from PDF using ACrobat SDK.
Questions:
1. Is there any mechanism to achieve this using Acrobat SDK?
Performance is the criteria I am looking for as far as extracting the thumbnails are concerned.As Acrobat has already created the thumbnail data, I would like to reuse/get it which I feel would enhance the performance.
2. I tried PdPage.CopyToClipbpoard() which would give a thumbnail image but its not matching the performance criteria. In this approach we are re-creating the thumbnails anyway which I would not prefer.

Your first statement is incorrect. Acrobat hasn't generated embedded thumbnails of pages since version 6.
You mention, CopyToClipboard(), which implies to me that you are trying to do this through the COM interfaces - those are going to be slower than working with the plugin interfaces, but plugins require C/C++. If you do stick with COM, then you should look at the drawing interfaces used by the Static and Active samples in the SDK - those will be much faster than copy to clipboard.

Thumbnail from PDF is always blank

Tearing my hair out over this.
I generate PDF's from a Fujitsu scanner and need to generate png graphics of each page pair (1-2,3-4,5-6 etc) from multi-page document. If I try to generate the thumbnails directly from the document, <CFPDF action="thumbnail" pages="1-2"...> CF fails to generate anything. If I use <CFPDF action="Merge" pages="1-2"....> to generate the page pairs in PDF and then try to generate the thumbnails from the PDF page pairs, the PNG files are generated, but are blank.

Usually that means that you have linked to the logical file rather than the correct one. The actual editor is hidden away in the support files folder. The file at the top level of the PSE 12 folder in Applications is just an alias to the welcome screen. You want to choose this one:

Objective: Convert open sales orders and maintain the link to the purchase order for back to back and drop shipment sales orders?
Question: Is it possible to convert the sales orders first. Then run requisition import to create the purchase requisitions in the PO module. After the requisition lines are created, convert the purchase orders through the open interface table or an API by auto-creating the PO from the requisition lines? This would maintain the link between purchasing and order management.
If this is not possible, does anyone have any suggestions? Someone mentioned using BPAs (this assumes I can assign items to specific suppliers).

After creating a PR, why you want to go thru open interface.
There is a standard functionality : AUTOCREATE, available , which will convert the PR to PO.
On PO Shipment level, you can view the SO number & Line Number also.

How to create jpegs from pdfs without pixellated results

I have been creating jpegs from high quality pdfs (typically 20-30 MB files) of maps (paper dimensions roughly 2 ft by 3 ft) with no problems until this week. I use the export function in Adobe X Standard and select jpeg. Did I recently get an update which changed my settings? Now I notice that sometimes the process generates a progress bar which says it is optimizing the content for the web. I don't remember seeing this either. Previous conversions worked great and the jpegs could be blown up on the screen with crisp detail. Yesterday I did the same process with a new map (I checked it for good resolution and the pdf can be zoomed way in with no loss of resolution). But the resulting jpeg pixellates very quickly when zooming in. What gives? It may be possible that this new map (pdf) is in layers. I think the others were scans of the paper maps. Does this affect the conversion? Also noticed that the jpegs now have little lock symbols on them. Is that related? I don't think it is, because a map I recently converted has the lock symbol on it and is OK (as a jpeg). I am converting the pdfs into jpegs so I can import them into Autocad.

As the helpcenter(2005 helpcenter) has missed this bit of documentation (on UserQueries) could someone please provide an example of using this object

Bridge to create thumbnails from web application

Hi all,
I'm looking for a solution to create thumbnails on my web application server (eps, ai, psd.. files).
Did you think that it a good idea (and possible) to use Bridge on a server (I have a licnese for InDesign server) to generate thumbnails with a jsx script ?

I have no idea about using Bridge on a server, but here is an example of creating thumbnails.
This example should be run from ExtendScript Toolkit, it will generate thumbnails for all (that it can) filetypes in the selected folder.

Need to change auto generated text from pdf report

I have implemented pdf but it generated text from the autogenrated xml.
If I need to change that text then what should I want to do for that?

Create Thumbnails from photos in iPhoto11

I have tried to activate photo stream in iOS 5 however, my photos in iPhoto11 are too large to upload and take too long.
Is there a way to create thumbnails of my photos that I could upload to photo stream.

I am begining to have concerns about space on my Mac due to iphoto!
I can move the library to my Nas server. It is then my intention to set up a new iphoto library on my Mac. If I deselct the "copy items to the iphoto library in preference" will this affect me in the future if I choose to merge the iphoto libraries in the future?

Acrobat Pro 9.2.0 error on creating .jpg from .pdf

Hi there,
I am encountering this same issue that was cited in the "Saving a PDF file as a JPEG" from 2008. I have a one-page poster in Word 2010 which I was able to convert into a text renderable pdf, then - in Acrobat Pro - was able to convert this pdf into a jpg with no problems - hundreds of times in the past. The Word file is a composite of several images and text that I wish to save as a .jpg to insert into an event programme as the front cover.
Now, on printing to pdf, I am not getting consistent renderable text when I open the file in Acrobat Pro, AND if I attempt to "save as" a jpg I get the following error:
"Acrobat could not save a page in this document because of the following error:
The image is too wide to output. Please crop it or reduce resolution and try again. (Page 1)"
I can only click ignore or cancel. Neither will allow me to create a jpg.
Has anyone else found this error recently?
I did download some updates recently to Adobe and Flash, so they could be the problem... but I have no idea what to do to undo them.
I have tried using a different pdf writer to create the pdf file, but if I go back to Acrobat Pro, I still get the jpg error. I assume the error is to do with teh image rendering end, not the pdf writing itself.
I note from the discussion string earlier, there has been no fix posted for this. This in itself is rather disappointing for an issue that first arose in 2008.
I hope someone can help as this is driving me crazy!

I'm still unable to update Acrobat Professional without doing a complete re-install of the product.
Has this issue been resolved by Adobe?
Everytime there is an update to Adobe Acrobat Professional, I have to do a complete re-install before I can apply an update.

The problem is, that the "thumbnail" is only created of the
last selected image. I think it has something to do with the
air.Event.COMPLETE event. But when I kick that off, an error

Creating Thumbnail from an Image with transparent background

Hello,
I want to create a thumbnail image of size 200 x 200 pixels from an image of any size.
As the thumbnail is square, I'm centering the image according to size.
The code I'm using is working fine BUT after centering and resizing original image
and writing it to output file the remaining area is of black color.
I want the background should be transparent.
Code I'm using is not using JAI.
Please suggest me the solution.

Change this line

...to use a BufferedImage type that supports transparency like TYPE_INT_ARGB or TYBE_4BYTE_ABGR (I would recommend the latter since your saving the image).
Also, btw, you're not going to like the quality of the thumbnail if the image is reduced by more then half its size.

Auto Create Filename from Form Fields

Hello all,
I am trying to find a way that I can save a form with a certain filename. I have the form create and all set to go. The user will be input some information into boxes. For instance I will have a Name box and a Date box. After the user is done filling out the form I would like the filename to be these two input boxes. Is there a way to do this? So basically I need to take these two form fields and have them be saved as the filename. Any help would be great. Thanks alot.

You can export the data form the PDF using the FormDataIntegration service.
Once you have the data in xml format, you can use a setValue and concatenate the value of the two nodes you're interested in.
