Auto-fill doesn't seem to remember my passwords?

I have a MacPro & MBP. On the MacPro, Safari's autofill does not remember my passwords, but it does on my MBP. I sync all together using MobileMe. Any ideas why it doesn't work on the MacPro? Both machines are using Mac OS X 10.5.8. I looked at the Autofill options in Safari's preferences, all three options are checked on both machines. Both are running Safari 4.0.4.

If you go to Safari Menu/Preferences/Autofill what is ticked under 'Autofill web forms' and is there anything listed if you click the 'Edit' button to the right of 'User names and passwords'?

Firefox doesn't seem to remember Bank of America's website. Everytime I try to log in it treats me like it's the first time I've ever logged into the website with this computer, i.e. making me answer security questions. I've tried it with Chrome and Safari and both work perfectly fine, Firefox is the only browser this happens with. Any ideas?

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.
*Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Cookies
*do not clear the Site Preferences

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

It's probably looking for the Apple ID & Password you used to purchase Lion, or ML as the case may be.

Deleting auto fill doesn't work

I've tried resetting safari settings and editing the auto fill in safari preferences, but some of my user names and passwords refuse to delete. I've tried "removing all" but about 20 usernames/passwords cannot be deleted. Why is this and how can it be solved?

It's possible that Safari preferences have been corrupted. But you can still remove the usernames and passwords by opening Keychain Access and locating them in the Passwords > Internet list there and deleting them.

Auto syncing doesn't seem to be very "Auto"

I have syncing enabled on my Win XP Pro machine to the Apple TV. When I "Add File to Library..." with a movie, it seems to automatically sync over just dandy. When I do this with music, no sync happens until I do it manually. Anyone else see this?

Yeah, I've noticed this too. As soon as you import a movie into iTunes, it starts syncing to the Apple TV, before you've had a chance to fill in the tags/fields. So, either you cancel the sync, or you end up having to sync the same file TWICE. The first time without any of the tags/fields filled in, and the second time WITH them filled in.

My Zen V Plus doesn't seem to remember the point in playback if it goes into idle shutd

I have a Zen V Plus, purchased apx 6 months ago. I use it with my I-Mac so also use XNJB .4.6 to manage my music.
I find, specifically if I'm listening to a mix, that if I stop using my player and then return to it that it doesn't remember where I left off.
Is there anyway around this?

If you power off with the switch while a track is playing, play will resume where you left off.
If the track is paused when power off happens (either by idle time out or using the switch) play resumes at the start of the track.

I am only able to login to a certain website a few times and then I have to restart my computer. Mozilla doesn't seem to remember or allow me to login continuously. Help!! Very annoying....

I am an online student and have difficulty logging into my school. I am able to login only a few times before Mozilla stops me from being able to enter.

haha, so now i'm thinking. I'm learning the terminal as fast as i can but there are several lines of codes and commands in there that throws up red flags to me that i don't fully understand. It just looks fishy too me. It would be highly appreciated if someone could just check this out just to tell me that i don't need to worry about it. Or point me in the right direction. I just feel un easy about this. ha.

Safari 6.0 Twitter share doesn't auto fill

Hi all,
When I tweet a page using the Share function in Safari, it doesn't auto fill if I enter @[and then the twitter name of someone in my contacts].
I've read that the auto fill doesn't pull straight from Twitter (which is a pain), but that it does pull fro your contacts if you have the Twitter name of someone recorded in their contact info. But mine doesn't pull from contacts either.
Is Twitter auto fill working for anyone in Safari 6.0's Twitter share function?

Different systems and your iPhone isn't hitting the same website as your Mac. It will be redirected to a mobile version, which likely is formatted differently.
If you know of someone who has it working that way in Safari, you might try Resetting Safari from the Safari menu.
Are all the other options checked in Safari Autofill preferences?

Passwords and Auto Fill not working...

All of a sudden, new passwords are not being retained and auto fill doesn't work at all. I've repaired permissions, checked every setting I can think of. What should I try next?

I had a similar problem with autofill. Repairing permissions with Onyx seemed to work. (But first, double-check that Autofill is enabled and your "me" Address Book card is correct.)

How can I get the drop down window for a ID and P/W "Always remember" Auto Fill

Recently I had a mail issue with my ATT (Yahoo) Mail account and they temporarily changed by Password.
After the issue was resolved I changed it back but the auto fill kept the temporary Password in Safari when I log onto my e-mail account via the internet instead of the Apple Mail program.
In the Past, whenever I would put a different P/W or ID there would be a drop down window that said :
Never, later or Always remember", at least something like that terminology.
Since I have had no reason to change P/W or ID lately I do ot know if it is Lion issue or if there is a way of getting the drop down to appear.

If you didn’t erase the drive and install using you AppleID, then the OS and the purchased apps are still registered to the other AppleID. You cannot change that by logging into iCloud. Apps are forever tied to the AppleID used to purchase/download them.
You have to erase the drive and download/install the Apps using your AppleID.

I tried to manually clear my Time Machine back up drive (a La Cie). But now the Trash is filled with files (over 130,000) and it doesn't seem to want to trash them - how do I get rid of them now in a quicker way?

i've tried the alt solution to empty trash but it does not work
I still got the -8003 error
for emptying time machine backups that i foolishly put in the trash
i've also tried this solution using terminal and it did not work either

Google bar's "auto fill" feature worked EVERY TIME with the last version of Firefox, but works rarely with Firefox 4. ????
I have reinstalled my google bar AND Firefox 4, but that didn't help.

I need to know how to turn off my auto fill i do not like haveing that info accessable to hakers and do not want my computer to remember credit card numbers?

i looked in tools to options and then to privacy but i do not see a box saying remember the text that i type. i do not know if this is a program on firefox or windows that is auto fill.

You can set the pref browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS, default in Firefox 3 versions) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.
