Auto find Select List

I'm using a Select List (with submit) in my application and it's a long list, the available select list search by the first letter (if I pressed two letters it would search for words begins with the second letter)....
Can we find or create a Select List with more than one letter search facility.
Regards
Saad

This does work in IE7, but you have to type quickly!!
If you have a list of:
Andrew
India
Martin
Michael
Richard
And type 'M', pause, 'I' you will jump first to Martin and then to India.
Type 'M','I' and you will jump first to Martin and then to Michael
There does not seem to be a limit on how many letters you can type - just don't pause.
Hope this helps,
Martin

  • How to Build an Auto-Expanding Select list

    Hi everyone,
    I want to know if it's possible How to Build an Auto-Expanding Select list ?
    I saw some discussions which tell us to use Jquery to acheive this. Is it the only solution ?
    I want a solution that it is easy to implement.
    Thanks in advance. Bye.

    Hi,
    Not sure what you've seen before, but anywhoo:
    In my select list, i set element attributes of :
    style="min-width: 130px"Just because some of the smaller values were getting truncated.
    Then I add this onload javascript code:
    $('#P10_AUTO_EXPANDING').change(function(){
      $(this).width($('option:selected', this).text().length*10)
    })It's not perfect for getting the right size (i.e. i think it increases exponentially, but you can play around with the multiplier)
    Which you can see: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=45448:10:
    Edited by: trent on Dec 15, 2011 10:35 AM
    Probably best to add this line of code:
    $(this).width($('option:selected', this).text().length*10)
    into a dynamic action for a change event of the item, of which the true action is to execute javascript code.

  • A select list combined with auto-complete?

    Hello All,
    I am trying to convert an access application into APEX. There is a field on the form where I can look up various car models (Campry, Corola, RAV4, Sienna, etc) via drop down menu (select list in APEX) or by directly typing “Ca” in the field and it gets auto-completed to “Camry”.
    Is it possible to implement this feature in APEX? If yes, how?
    Thank you,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    Yes this is possible.
    Have a look here: Ajax Autocomplete (Denes Kubicek)
    There are some examples circulating, in the above thread you find Denes' example.

  • Query to find out list of the tables getting selected frequently

    Hi All,
    Please tell me Is there any way to find out list of the tables getting selected frquently, ( please exclude the insert+updates+deletes+truncate+drop).
    Regards

    Hi Sameer
    You can check V$SQL_PLAN to see the objects being accessed by your SQL statements. If you have diagnostic licence, you can also check DBA_HIST_SQL_PLAN
    select distinct object_owner, object_name from v$sql_plan;
    select object_name, count(*) from v$sql_plan group by object_nameRemeber, this is only a crude way of finding this information.

  • "Auto-Submit" using select lists

    hi, i have a few select list boxes that display data on a form, is there a way where i can have it "auto_submit" just by clicking an item on the list, instead of having a button with a branch to the same page?
    Thanks,

    Daniel,
    Edit the select list item and in the "Display As" field, select "Select List with Submit"

  • SELECT LIST versus POPUP LOV

    I have a form that currently has several fields defined as SELECT LIST, which works great when the list of items to be selected is small. However, one of the fields is a list of employees, which will be > 300, and I was thinking of using the POPUP LOV option. Mainly because of the Search capability - would like to just list those employees that are entered into the Search to show up in the list.
    I have tried the POPUP LOV within a CREATE record form (using Auto Row Processing and Database Columns), and it pops up showing a list of employees (using the same SELECT statement as used when it was a SELECT LIST). So far, so good. When I select an employee, the employees name shows up in the field in grey text. So far, so good. However, I do not get anything helpful when I enter anything into the Search box. I just get a "The page cannot be displayed" in the window. Basically I am unable to search. Bummer.
    However, when I look at the record that I just created, I do not see the employees name in the field anymore, I just see the employee's ID. I also get the following error message:
    "Error: ORA-00904: "SESTAFFID": invalid identifier performing List of Values query: "select Employee, SEStaffID from ( SELECT ec.ename || ' - ' || s.site_name "Employee", wss.wss_id "SEStaffID" FROM wiser_se_staff wss, vw_emp_contact@WISER_SA ec, vw_site@WISER_SA s WHERE wss.staff_emp_id = ec.empid AND wss.staff_sch_location = s.site_id AND ((:P205_REF_RECD_BY_ID IS NOT NULL AND :P205_REF_RECD_BY_ID = wss.wss_id) OR :P205_REF_RECD_BY_ID IS NULL) ORDER BY ec.ename, s.site_name) wwvlovinlineviewname where SEStaffID = :WWV_LOV_RETURN_KEY_UTIL_1111". "
    Dang, I hate it when that happens. I have not been able to find any references to this error that would shed light on how to handle this error.
    I followed the recommendation in the HTML DB User's Guide for Popup LOVs (Table 6-7 Available Item Types), to no avail.
    The SELECT statement that is being used is:
    SELECT ec.ename || ' - ' || s.site_name "Employee",
    wss.wss_id "SEStaffID"
    FROM wiser_se_staff wss,
    vw_emp_contact@WISER_SA ec,
    vw_site@WISER_SA s
    WHERE wss.staff_emp_id = ec.empid
    AND wss.staff_sch_location = s.site_id
    AND ((:P205_REF_RECD_BY_ID IS NOT NULL
    AND :P205_REF_RECD_BY_ID = wss.wss_id)
    OR :P205_REF_RECD_BY_ID IS NULL)
    ORDER BY ec.ename, s.site_name
    I guess my questions are:
    1) Why is APEX choking on the SELECT statement for the UPDATE and not the CREATE?
    2) Why doesn't the SEARCH feature work, or probably more correct, what am I missing?
    TIA

    Scott,
    Thank you for looking at this.
    You are correct in your assumption - I was using the 'Popup Key LOV (Displays description, returns key value)' Display As option.
    I have been able to isolate where the problem is. I reduced the 'List of values definition' to:
    SELECT ec.ename || ' - ' || s.site_name "Employee",
    wss.wss_id "SEStaffID"
    FROM wiser_se_staff wss,
    vw_emp_contact@WISER_SA ec,
    vw_site@WISER_SA s
    WHERE wss.staff_emp_id = ec.empid
    AND wss.staff_sch_location = s.site_id
    ORDER BY ec.ename, s.site_name
    I then received the same error. So, I just changed the alias from "SEStaffID" to "SESID" and it then gave me the following error:
    Error: ORA-00904: "EMPLOYEE": invalid identifier performing List of Values query: "select Employee, SESID from ( SELECT ec.ename || ' - ' || s.site_name "Employee", wss.wss_id "SESID" FROM wiser_se_staff wss, vw_emp_contact@WISER_SA ec, vw_site@WISER_SA s WHERE wss.staff_emp_id = ec.empid AND wss.staff_sch_location = s.site_id ORDER BY ec.ename, s.site_name ) wwvlovinlineviewname where SESID = :WWV_LOV_RETURN_KEY_UTIL_1111".
    So, I then eliminated the concatenation that was part of the first field so that it was then 'SELECT ec.ename "Employee",' and left the rest of the SQL statement alone. I received the same error message. I then eliminated the "Employee", resulting in 'SELECT ec.ename,' and reran it - the LOV then worked properly, showing a list of employees, and I was able to search the list as expected.
    There is something about using the alias on the fields that it just does NOT like.
    I just did another test, and it appears it is just when the alias is on the first field that it chokes. I removed the alias from the first field, and left the alias on the second field, and the LOV worked just fine.
    TIA,
    Tom

  • Select List View All submit option

    Hello everyone,

    Hi All,
    Got a message from cini007, but I get an error message when I want to reply to that message. I have copied the "solution" below.
    I have tried this, but it's not working. The only thing happening is it has changed the dates randomly.
    Although I have been looking for the auto shut-off option. I can't find that option only in the alarm clock options?
    cini007 posted "Re: iPhone calendar + List View All Calendars option (MobileMe)" in "iPhone calendar + List View All Calendars option (MobileMe)" on Mar 9, 2010 8:20:57 AM.
    I had Genius Bar visit with same issue—no go (was advised to reset to factory settings).
    BUT here is the SOLUTION as it happened again:
    1. set auto shut-off to never
    2. turn OFF MobileMe syncing for calendars on the iPhone (from Settings menu)
    3. wait for calendar entries to be removed—takes minutes if you have several calendars
    4. hard reset iPhone (press Home and On/Off at the same time for >5 seconds), and wait 2 minutes (about the time to reboot)
    5. restart iPhone
    6. turn ON MobileMe syncing for calendars on the iPhone (again, from Settings menu)

  • Report with select list and link to call another report

    Hi,
    I am trying to do 2 reports (REPORT1 and REPORT2).
    The first is a summary report (REPORT1).
    This report will display sales figures for the year. Now, I need to have a select list in the result set that will have 2 options, depending on which option is chosen, I want to call REPORT2 with the select list as a parameter. How can I do this ?
    Let me try to explain what I did.
    I created REPORT1 on Page 100
    SELECT YEAR, sum(YTD_SALES), APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST(1,'DEPARTMENT','Department;DEPARTMENT,Division;DIVISION') Drilldown FROM SALES_ANALYSIS WHERE YEAR > 2000
    GROUP BY YEAR ORDER BY YEAR
    I created 2 hidden items namely P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN
    I also made the column YEAR as a link and specified both P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN as parameters to be passed.
    Next, I created REPORT2
    SELECT YEAR, DECODE(:P100_DRILLDOWN, 'Department', department, 'Division', Division) dept_div, sum(YTD_SALES) ytd_sales
    FROM SALES_ANALYSIS
    WHERE YEAR = :P100_YEAR
    When I run Report 1, it's fine, when I choose either Department or Division from the Select List and click on the link to call Report 2, report 2 is displayed, but the value being passed for P100_DRILLDOWN is not correct and as a result, I am unable to get correct results for Report 2
    Am I missing something ? Are there any alternate ways to do what I'm doing ?
    Thanks,
    Ashok

    Hi Ashok,
    The link definition will not know the value selected in the list as it is constructed only when the page is being rendered. You would need to create some javascript to handle this. I've done that here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=267:182]
    The link on the EMPNO column has been defined in the HTML Expression setting for the column instead of the Link section. The HTML Expression that I have used is:
    <a href="#" onclick="javascript:doDrilldown('#EMPNO#',this);">#EMPNO#</a>And, in the page's HTML Header setting, I have added in:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function doDrilldown(empno,group)
    var g;
    var p = group.parentNode;
    while (p.tagName != "TR")
      p = p.parentNode;
    var x = p.getElementsByTagName("SELECT");
    if (x.length > 0)
      g = x[0].value;
    var url = "f?p=&APP_ID.:183:&SESSION.::::P183_EMPNO,P183_GROUP:" + empno + "," + g;
    document.location.href = url;
    </script>When a link is clicked, the doDrilldown function is called passing in the EMPNO value and the "this" object (which identifies the object triggering the call). The function starts from that object and goes up in the HTML tag tree to the nearest TR tag (the row tag that the link is on) and then finds the first SELECT list item on the row and gets its value. It then constructs a URL using this and the EMPNO value and performs a redirect to the second page (page 183 in this example).

  • Multiple Select List looping thru PL/SQL function body returning SQL query

    Hi,
    I have a Multiple Select List. I want to loop through the values from the Select List and process them in a PL/SQL function body returning a SQL query. Currently, my code only returns the SQL SELECT results of one item in the select list. How do I change my code to make it return the results of all of the items in the select list? (I tested it and it is definitely picking up all the values in the select list).

    Thank you,
    Laura

    Laura,
    First, I would be careful of introducing SQL Injection possibilities. Any time I see
    'Select ... ' || :P123_FOO || ' ... '
    I worry about sql injection. In your case you are converting :P50_SELECTED_INSTRUMENTS into selected_items and then selected_items into s. So when I see
    'WHERE TO_CHAR(orig_geo_loc_sys) LIKE ''' || s ||'%'' '||
    I think, "I could use sql Injection and hack this."
    So, I would do some validation on :P50_SELECTED_INSTRUMENTS or some other method to avoid this.
    I'm not certain I understand your query. Do you really intend to allow the user to select the beginning of a string and then find all rows that start with that string? Or, do you just want to let them find when it matches the string. This is one way if you want to do matching:
    DECLARE
    selected_items HTMLDB_APPLICATION_GLOBAL.VC_ARR2;
    s VARCHAR2(32767);
    q varchar2(32767);
    BEGIN
    -- Change the : separate string to be comma separated with quoted strings
    s := '''' || replace(:P50_SELECTED_INSTRUMENTS, ',', ''',''')|| '''' ;
    -- htp.p('COUNT: '||selected_items.count);
    q:= 'SELECT '||
    'SUBSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,1,INSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,''-'')-1) AS INSTRUMENT, '||
    'SUBSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,INSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,''-'')+1, LENGTH'||
    ' (orig_geo_loc_sys)) AS ORIG_LINENUM, '||
    'sum(orig_intrl) orig_intrl, '||
    'sum(orig_extrl) orig_extrl, '||
    'sum(recv_intrl) recv_intrl, '||
    'sum(recv_extrl) recv_extrl '||
    'FROM line_usage_sum_view '||
    'WHERE TO_CHAR(orig_geo_loc_sys) in (' || s ||' ) '||
    --'WHERE TO_CHAR(orig_geo_loc_sys) LIKE ''2213003%'' '||
    'AND switch_id = ''' || :P1_SWITCH_ID || ''' ' ||
    'AND call_start_date > TO_DATE(''30-NOV-1999'') ' ||
    'AND call_clear_time > TO_DATE(''30-NOV-1999'') '||
    'AND '||
    :SORTFIELD||' BETWEEN '||
    'TO_DATE(:STARTDATE,''dd-MON-YYYY HH24:MI'') AND '||
    'TO_DATE(:STOPDATE, ''dd-MON-YYYY HH24:MI'') '||
    'GROUP BY GROUPING SETS (orig_geo_loc_sys)';
    -- htp.p('SQL query: '||q);
    RETURN q;
    END;
    If you want to do something more like you originally stated, try this:
    DECLARE
    selected_items HTMLDB_APPLICATION_GLOBAL.VC_ARR2;
    s VARCHAR2(20);
    q varchar2(32767);
    BEGIN
    selected_items := HTMLDB_UTIL.STRING_TO_TABLE(:P50_SELECTED_INSTRUMENTS);
    -- htp.p('COUNT: '||selected_items.count);
    q:= 'SELECT '||
    'SUBSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,1,INSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,''-'')-1) AS INSTRUMENT, '||
    'SUBSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,INSTR(orig_geo_loc_sys,''-'')+1, LENGTH'||
    ' (orig_geo_loc_sys)) AS ORIG_LINENUM, '||
    'sum(orig_intrl) orig_intrl, '||
    'sum(orig_extrl) orig_extrl, '||
    'sum(recv_intrl) recv_intrl, '||
    'sum(recv_extrl) recv_extrl '||
    'FROM line_usage_sum_view '||
    'WHERE 1=1 ';
    FOR i in 1..selected_items.count LOOP
    s := TO_CHAR(selected_items(i));
    q := q || ' and TO_CHAR(orig_geo_loc_sys) LIKE '''|| s ||'%'' ' ;
    END LOOP;
    q := q || ||'%'' '||
    --'WHERE TO_CHAR(orig_geo_loc_sys) LIKE ''2213003%'' '||
    'AND switch_id = ''' || :P1_SWITCH_ID || ''' ' ||
    'AND call_start_date > TO_DATE(''30-NOV-1999'') ' ||
    'AND call_clear_time > TO_DATE(''30-NOV-1999'') '||
    'AND '||
    :SORTFIELD||' BETWEEN '||
    'TO_DATE(:STARTDATE,''dd-MON-YYYY HH24:MI'') AND '||
    'TO_DATE(:STOPDATE, ''dd-MON-YYYY HH24:MI'') '||
    'GROUP BY GROUPING SETS (orig_geo_loc_sys)';
    -- htp.p('SQL query: '||q);

  • How Do I Filter a Report Using a Multi Select List Box and Specifying Date Between Begin Date and End Date

    Hope someone can help.  I have tried to find the best way to do this and can't seem to make sense of anything.  I'm using an Access 2013 Database and I have a report that is based on a query.  I've created a Report Criteria Form.  I
    need the user to be able to select multiple items in a list box and also to enter a Begin Date and End Date.  I then need my report to return only the records that meet all selected criteria.  It works fine with a ComboBox and 1 selection but can't
    get it to work with a List Box so they can select multiple items.  Any help is greatly appreciated while I still have hair left.

    The query should return all records.
    Let's say you have the following controls on your report criteria form:
    txtStart: text box, formatted as a date.
    txtEnd: text box, formatted as a date.
    lbxMulti: multi-select list box.
    cmdOpenReport: command button used to open the report.
    The text boxes are used to filter the date/time field DateField, and the list box to filter the number field SomeField.
    The report to be opened is rptReport.
    The On Click event procedure for the command button could look like this:
    Private Sub cmdOpenReport_Click()
    Dim strWhere As String
    Dim strIn As String
    Dim varItm As Variant
    On Error GoTo ErrHandler
    If Not IsNull(Me.txtStart) Then
    strWhere = strWhere & " AND [DateField]>=#" & Format(Me.txtStart, "yyyy-mm-dd") & "#"
    End If
    If Not IsNull(Me.txtEnd) Then
    strWhere = strWhere & " AND [DateField]<=#" & Format(Me.txtEnd, "yyyy-mm-dd") & "#"
    End If
    For Each varItm In Me.lbxMulti.ItemsSelected
    strIn = strIn & "," & Me.lbxMulti.ItemData(varItm)
    Next varItm
    If strIn <> "" Then
    ' Remove initial comma
    strIn = Mid(strIn, 2)
    strWhere = strWhere & " AND [SomeField] In (" & strWhere & ")"
    End If
    If strWhere <> "" Then
    ' Remove initial " AND "
    strWhere = Mid(strWhere, 6)
    End If
    DoCmd.OpenReport ReportName:="rptMyReport", View:=acViewPreview, WhereCondition:=strWhere
    Exit Sub
    ErrHandler:
    If Err = 2501 Then
    ' Report cancelled - ignore
    Else
    MsgBox Err.Description, vbExclamation
    End If
    End Sub
    If SomeField is a text field instead of a number field, change the line
            strIn = strIn & "," & Me.lbxMulti.ItemData(varItm)
    to
            strIn = strIn & "," & Chr(34) & Me.lbxMulti.ItemData(varItm) & Chr(34)

  • Select List Performance Issue in Apex 3.1.2

    Hi
    It would of great help if you could suggest us for the following
    We are facing some issues in Select List performance in Apex 3.1.2 version.
    We have 6 select list and all have been cascaded i.e., values of each select list based on pervious list value.
    Values in each select list are huge. Because of this, the performance is very slow.
    It takes huge time to fetch the data based on other list values.
    We cross verified in backend, the same query takes less time compared to the Application.
    Any recommedation to fine tune this?
    Thanks in advance
    Vijay

    if your select lists are very huge then it could be the browser that is causing the slow down.
    try and create an example using a static HTML file containing a select list of the same size and you may find the same performance issue.
    a quick way to create the test would be to save the source of your APEX page as a html file

    mistake in guide corrected.

    Hi Matt,
    which version of APEX are you currently on?
    With ApexLib Framework you can have cascading select lists in normal forms, but not in a Report or Tabular Form. Also refreshing a Report when changing a select list doesn't work out of the box. You would need to add some javascript. But i think this isn't what you wanted.

  • Could not find selected item matching value "New" warning message in ADF

    Hi,
    I have a selectOneChoice1 for a field which has the following fixed values in it. And while creating it, I selected the 'SelctionRequired' option so that this field will always have a value.
    New
    Pending
    Completed.
    While navigating to this page, I am trying to set the value to 'New' (Retrieved from the DB) in the backing bean. But when the page is rendered, the above field is empty with the above options in the list and jdev has the follwing error message in its log.
    WARNING: Could not find selected item matching value "New" in CoreSelectOneChoice[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=selectOneChoice1]
    Can any one help me with this issue?
    Thanks,
    Priya

    The value of a list binding is the zero-based integer position in the list that is selected, not the actual underlying value.
    The simplest way to set the value of an attribute is to use an attribute binding (which can be bound to the same attribute as the list binding). When you set the value of an attribute binding, it sets the value as you supply it. Otherwise, you'd need to set the list binding's value to the numerical "slot" number of the one you want to change the value to.
