Auto hide taskbar

I'm using windows 8.1 and I.E. 11. My taskbar won't "auto-hide" help

most common causes are programs that need your attention or that update the taskbar icons too frequently.
For testing purposes, make sure you don't have programs open. Check if windows action center (the little flag) has open messages, click open actions and resolve possible related issues. Also check if any third pary icons are displayed in the clock
area. If so, these might be the cause too. Close the related software, or configure it to not display notifications or status on the taskbar.

  • Auto hide taskbar not working with iTunes 10.5 & Windows 7

    Anyone else having problems with Auto-hide Taskbar not working when iTunes is open and the active window? Was working fine with previous versions including the beta of 10.5 I had. Is this a general problem or just me? Im using Windows 7 64bit for what its worth.

    Chiming in with the same problem. 64-bit Win 7 Professional, taskbar set to auto-hide, newest version of iTunes (actually uninstalled and reinstalled via the website download earlier today to see if that would fix it; nope). I normally use the Alt+Tab keys to navigate between windows anyway, so it's not inconveniencing me too much, but it's still irritating when I'm trying to use the mouse to switch windows (or check the time) and realize I can't. Definitely fix this one soon. We'll all be very grateful

  • BUG - Auto-Hide Taskbar Won't Un-hide

    Using Windows 7 64-bit on a multiple monitor extended desktop:
    I've set my taskbar to auto-hide.
    I'm not sure which application is causing this to happen, but I've managed to get Windows to not display the task bar when I mouse over the bottom of the screen when the currently focused application is maximized. If I normalize the application, I can get the task bar to un-hide.  I had four apps open this morning when it happened again - Firefox, Thunderbird, Windows Explorer, and Visual Studio 2008.  I suspect that Visual Studio is somehow the culprit, but it's kind of difficult to quantify.
    Once the task bar decides that it doesn't have to un-hide itself, only a reboot fixes the issue.
    I saw this behavior in in the release candidate as well.

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum.
    To clarify if the issue is caused by any specific application, I would like to suggest that you run these applications using a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down the exact cause. There may be related to signal application or conflicts among applications. To confirm this, please take the following steps:
    1. Run Firefox, Thunderbird, Windows Explorer and Visual Studio 2008 separately to see if the issue occurs.
    If the issue doesn't occur, please continue the step.
    2. Open two of these applications at the same time per test to see which combination causes this issue.
    If the issue doesn't occur neither, please continue the step.
    3. Run three of these applications at the same time per test to see which combination causes this issue.
    Meanwhile, I noticed that you use a multiple monitor, this can be a cause too. I'd like to suggest you disconnecting the external monitor and running the above four applications at the same time to see if the issue occurs.
    Best Regards.

  • Will Photoshop Album Starter Edition support taskbar with "auto-hide" on?

    I am using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 on my Windows 2000 computer, and I have a problem with my taskbar not popping up. I have the "auto-hide" selection on for the taskbar, so it stays out of my way when I am working in applications. However, I have to hit the "windows" key if I want to switch from Photoshop to another app.
    I looked through the support site and found the article that Album 2.0.1 fixes this bug for Windows XP. However, the problem still exists with Album 3.0 and Windows 2000. Will this bug get a fix soon?

    You may already be aware of this but you can shift to another open application by pressing the Alt key and the tab key together. While Holding down the Alt Key, press the tab key. You will see a small window with the application name in it. When you press tab repeatedly, the application name will keep on changing in the window. When you let go of the keys, the application whose name is in the window will be activated.

  • How to make taskbar reappear in tablet after auto-hide???

    Hello:
    I've have a 11 inches tablet with Windows 8. I like to make the taskbar auto-hide to give me more viewing area (some programs require lots screen space to show the whole dialog box and were
    not able to shrink down to have scroll bar, like some area in QuickBooks) And, with tablet, I don't have
    the
    mouse pointer to move it to the
    top of taskbar to make it reappear. Please help.
    Regards,
    Leo

    Thank you, S. But, that's not really what I want to do.
    I am not rotating, I just simply want to make taskbar reappear after auto-hide when I don't have a mouse (cursor) to move
    it over the taskbar.
    For example, I have
    set the taskbar auto-hide on my tablet (no keyboard, no mouse, just touch screen) Now, what do you need to do to make the taskbar reappear to see the time for fraction of second??? Do you
    need to use one finger to move from the bottom up? Or up and down twice? Or two fingers twist around on the screen? Yes, the little program with rotating might help. But, I’ve been working or reading on the tablet which is on the stand. It just doesn’t
    make any sense that I have to pick it up and rotate the tablet to make the taskbar reappear.
    I think Microsoft just simply over look that because they got stuck of thinking everyone has to have a mouse to work on Windows OS. But, with the small and mini tablet coming up so fast, I think
    they need to address this issue very soon. (or maybe there is a way and I am just ignorant, so please help)
    PS, I don’t have Surface, I am using ATIV Smart PC. And I don’t have mouse or keyboard on that thing. And I don’t want to buy a mouse or keyboard for it. I think that would totally defeat
    the purpose of using the tablet. And yes, I have laptops too.

    Leo

  • Taskbar keeps disappearing NOT on auto hide

    Hello,
    I have viewed other articles similar but neither seem to help. Basically I work at a council and we
    have gone about upgrading the rest of the machines from XP to 7, Now we only seem to be having this issue with a few of the machines out of all of them, this issue is upon minimizing anything such as Internet Explorer the full task bar disappears
    it just leaves a blank space and the start button, we have made sure it is not set to auto hide.
    So far the only remedy we have is to reboot the machine, it might not happen again for a couple of days
    but it happens again eventually. It windows explorer does not crash either and the only way to access software open is to use Alt + Tab.
    Finally these computers are within quite a big network if this helps any.
    Thank you for your help much appreciated.
    Regards

  • Auto-hide playbar

    Hi,
    Is there a way to autohide the playbar in the published files? I would like the playbar to appear only when the mouse is over the area where the playbar should be, something similar to 'auto-hide the taskbar' on the desktop.

    Some confusion with Vish, he did not see I was answering and also preparing a blog post. Here is the work flow in short, will post the link to the blog post where I will have an example and screenshots, when it is published.
    First, grab a copy of Chris Dorna's widget to hide the close button on the slidelet, it is free:
    HideSlideletClosebox
    Configure the playbar and the borders so that the playbar is in overlay mode (will be on top of the slide instead of below the slide) and that no borders are showing.
    for the first slide, on Enter Side attach the action  Assign cpCmndShowPlaybar with 0 to hide the playbar
    insert two rollover slidelets: make sure that the stroke is set to 0 and that the color is set to the color of the background or configure its style in the Object style manage so that no border, nor runtime border is shown
    size the first rollover slidelet to approximate the size of the playbar, the second you put little bit higher and attach the rollover actions to change the variable to 1 for the first, to 0 for the second
    insert Chris' widget and configure it to hide the close button for both slidelets
    You have to repeat the last 3 actions for all the slides, easy with copy/paste but you'll have to edit the HideSlideletClosebox properties to adapt to the new ID of the slidelets.

  • Auto Hide with WebDynpro

    Hi All,
    In Windows Operating system,Taskmanager i can set properties ->General->Auto Hide.
    Bottom Task Bar will be auto hided when mouse is points on Desktop, but if we move towards Taskbar we can see taskbar.
    can this be acchived using WebDynpro, let's there is a view with few Buttons, i would like to Autohide this view is it possible to do this,if so what are the steps.
    Your help highly appreciated!!!
    Regards,
    RK

    Hi RK,
    As far as I know, in WebDynpro you don't have methods to locate the cursor/mouse position. We had a requirement in our project but this feature was not there. We had a discussion with SAP and they asked us to submit a Development Request for the same.
    So I think as of now this might not be possible.
    I am not sure if there is any work around for the same.
    Experts please comment.

  • Full screen auto-hide feature does not work with Adobe Acrobat Reader add-on 11.0.0.379 in Firefox 17.01.

    "Full screen" menu item and its keyboard short cut F11 stop working with Acrobat Reader. The Firefox top edge border does not hide once you have moved around in the Acrobat document. Therefore it is not possible to display PDF documents in a true full screen mode within Firefox. The auto-hide full screen mode works nicely with other Firefox windows, so apparently the Acrobat Reader add-on breaks the feature. Windows 7 64-bit.

    From the JS API Reference of the print method:
    Non-interactive printing can only be executed during batch, console, and menu
    events.
    Outside of batch, console, and menu events, the values of bUI and of interactive are ignored
    and a print dialog box will always be presented.

  • SAP Signature Design & Task Bar Auto-Hide Feature

    Hi Experts,
      I'm having a problem with SAP Business One 8.8 PL18 using the new 8.8 SAP Signature Design. We are in a business with 4 professionals and 1 CRM. When we use the SAP Signature Design Skin Style and you have SBO maximized on the screen and you have Windows auto-hide the Task bar. You can't go back to the task bar with your mouse to switch applications or to just go to your start menu. The only way you can make the task bar appear is by pressing the "window key" to make the task bar display. To change applications, you can still use the "Alt Tab feature". If I put the Skin Style to Classic Mode, everything works great with no apparent display problems.
    I've tried this on 3 different operating systems. Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server and the same results. The task bar won't re-pop up if you move your mouse down to it (I tried moving the task bar to the left, top or right to see if that made a difference, and it didn't). I've been using the "Window Key" for now to make the task bar pop up (display), but I think it's a bug with the skin style and not the operating system.
      I've tried to get this resolved with our partner, but I don't think they understand the problem, or are just not willing to acknowledge the problem. They probably think it is a petty problem. We all like the new design and would like to use it properly while still having the task bar auto-hide.
    The question actually is, do you know of this problem, is there something I can disable or do to get it to work (ie: make it run with compatibility mode to something) or do I just have to live with this problem?
    I thank you very much in trying or helping me with this problem
    Ron
    IT Manager

    Hi Ron,
    Welcome you post on the forum.
    I don't have the same version to test. Based on your detailed explanation, I do think it is probably a bug. Since it may not be used by many users, it could have low priority to be fixed even if it is confirmed to be a bug.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • ITunes 10.5.0.142 prevents 'auto-hide' task bar reappearing on scroll-over at page bottom when ITunes home page is up. Task bar appears and hides fine on other windows.  OS: Win 7.

    In Windows 7 my latest ITunes version won't let the 'autohide' feature work for my task bar.  I have mine set at the bottom of all pages, and they all work when the Itunes page is up.  But not the ITunes home page itself.  The task bar is gone, and won't appear on scroll-over.
    Look, I'm not going to kill myself over it.  I just have to minimize the IT page to get to another task bar.
    But I like my auto-hide and won't disable it, and I like what's been done with the new version of IT and - of course - won't get rid of that.  I just want them to live together happily ever after.

  • Dock not showing in auto hide

    Hi,
    My dock is set to auto-hide, and I am using spaces. however my dock does not always show when in put my cursor at the bottom, I have to swap to and from another space to get the dock to show or unhide.
    My hot corners are also not working.
    any suggestions, spaces bug?
    Thanks

    could be a bad preference file.
    move the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.dock.plist to the desktop. then restart dock by entering the following in terminal
    killall Dock
    this will reset your dock to the default and might fix the problem.

  • Auto/Hide with Flv playback doesn't work with javascript lightbox, need help?

    Hi everyone,
    i created some swf loading a flv file in a flv playback and
    check on the auto/hide parameter. When i test the movie it works
    very well. BUT, in my website, i put those swf files in Lightbox
    (javascript computed) and when the mouse goes Over the flash video,
    it shows the Skin player and when the mouse goes Out, the Skin
    player stays over the video!? Why? Does someone has an idea on how
    to force the auto/hide paramater in this case?
    Thanks for your help
    Orlenka

    Found this post when searching for an answer, but didn't find much elsewhere so I'll post my quick and ugly solution here. I'm sure it can be vastly improved, but I didn't have much more than 5 minutes. Note - setting .visible to false just ended up causing the autohide transition to occur over and over, so instead I'm just temporarily moving the whole sprite offscreen.
    (AS3, using CS5 component... note that 'player' is the FLVPlayback instance):
    //### force 'autohide' when mouse inactive
    var timer:Timer = new Timer(1500, 0);
    timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, onTimer);
    timer.start();
    var skinSprite:DisplayObject;
    var prevMouseX:Number;
    var prevMouseY:Number;
    function onTimer(e:TimerEvent):void {
      //get skinSprite if we haven't already
      if(!skinSprite) {
        var child:DisplayObject;
        for(var i:Number = 0; i < player.numChildren; i++) {
          child = player.getChildAt(i);
          if(i == 2) { //this is the skinSprite
            skinSprite = child;
      //check to see if mouse hasn't moved since last timer event
      if(skinSprite && mouseX == prevMouseX && mouseY == prevMouseY) {
        skinSprite.y = -1000;
      prevMouseX = mouseX;
      prevMouseY = mouseY;
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, stage_onMouseMove);
    function stage_onMouseMove(e:MouseEvent):void {
      if(skinSprite) {
        skinSprite.y = 0;

  • (Chrome Like) Auto-Hide Tab bar in Safari Full Screen mode

    Is there a plugin or some other way to auto hide the tab bar in Safari fullscreen mode like the way Chrome does?
    This is the only thing stopping me from using Safari, it's way smoother than Chrome and feels much more native to Lion, but the fact the tab bar just keeps hanging there is annoying.
    I tried the Cmd+I method mentioned in the community, but it only works when you're only opening one tab, if you open several tabs, the tab bar will show up again. It also comes back up once you exit Full Screen mode.
    Thanks for your help !

    Hello myzzzl, this is normal behavior in full screen mode, you can set the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.fullscreen.autohide browser.fullscreen.autohide] in about:config to False, to change that, but if you do that tabs and location bar is enabled in full screen mode.
    wait if another contributor/helper give you a code which I don't know.
    thank you
