Auto-mapping across multiple domains

I originally posted this in an O365 Exchange forum and was redirected here.  Any help is appreciated.
Single E1/E3 O365 account with multiple domains having hosted email.  Automapping is working correctly only if the shared mailbox is from the first domain added to O365.  The other 4 domains that were added to O365 are not able to utilize automapping.
I have recreated Outlook profiles, removed and recreated permissions with PowerShell and the O365 GUI.  I also looked at the DNS settings required for O365 to work properly and everything looks correct.  Mail is being delivered, Lync is working,
Example: [email protected] has full access to [email protected]'s mailbox.  Automapping does not work and UserA is prompted to provide credentials to log into UserB's mailbox.
Any thoughts on why automapping would be failing across domains?

Hi,
Generally, if the Automapping works, the msExchDelegateListLink value for the shared mailbox should contains all users who have full access permission to this shared mailbox. Please follow these steps to check this value:
1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
2. In Users, right-click the shared mailbox > Properties.
3. In Attribute Editor tab, double click msExchDelegateListLink attribute.
4. Make sure all users who have full access permissions are listed in the Values field.

  • Can we share one single RDBMS security store across multiple domains ?

Can we share one single RDBMS security store across multiple weblogic domains? The idea is to utilize the same set of users and group defined in Weblogic Security Realms across multiple weblogic domains. Is it possible ? are there any risk ?
i am using Oracle WebLogicServer11gR1 (10.3.6) Generic with Coherence.

    Hi,
The document which you are referring is for WLS 10.0 and RDBMS security is introduced from WLS 10.3.0 onwards.
The reason why RDBMS security store should not be stored between two domains is RDBMS security store is used by authorization, role mapping, credential mapping, and certificate registry providers.
Once the RDBMS security store is configured in a domain, an instance of any of the preceding security providers that has been created in the security realm automatically uses only the RDBMS security store as a datastore, and not the embedded LDAP server.
It is just the replacement for Embedded LDAP.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Murali.

  • How do I get certificate authentication working across multiple domains?

    Hi,
I've got LC ES2 set up for certificate authentication and when there's only one domain (with a single certificate mapping set up), it works fine.
However would like to have multiple domains (application specific), with a small set of administrator type users who manage all of the domains.
To test, I've set up two domains, with the admin users in one and the normal users in the other.
I've set up two certificate mapping rules (both for the same CA), one for each domain.
However LC will only authenticate users who are matched using the first certificate mapping rule.
Has anyone else seen/tried this?  Have I missed something obvious?
For the moment I'm going to have to work with a single domain, which is a pain, but will have to do for now.
    Thanks
    Craig
Here's the error I get when LC fails to match (or attempt to match?) on the second cert mapping rule:

    Craig,
The certificate mapping works in the following manner,
First the User's certificate is validated.
If the certificate is valid, the related Certificate mapping information is fetched.
From the Certificate Mapping information, the domain is determined.
Following this, the user is searched in the domain and checked for it's current/deleted status.
If user exists or is a valid one, then return an AuthResult corresponding to that is returned to the client.
The error log below says, "Certificate Authentication failed since no user exists in the system that satisfies the certificate mapping"
    1. Please check if the concerned user exists in the domain registered in the second cert mapping.
    2. Also check if the concerned user satisfies the attribute mapping specified in the second cert mapping.
    3. Could you confirm whether the admin Users and the normal users are distinct in both the domains and not duplicate in any of them??
Because if same user exists in 2 domains, then there is no way to find out which domain you are referring to. In that case the first domain which declares the user as valid will return the AuthResult.
    4. You are using LC ES2, so there is a Test Certificate utlity on the same Certificate Mapping page, which can help you confirm the validity of the user's certificate and then you can proceed.

  • Using Get-ADGroup Member recursively across multiple domains in a Forest

Quick question for the gurus around here....
We are using a script that is querying the Local Administrators group on a Server.   It will pull the Users as well as the Groups that are a member of the Local Admins group on a server/system and using the recursive parameter with Get-ADGroupMembers,
it will also list the members of any groups.  However, we seem to hit a snag when a Group is a member of another domain or even if the group is a member of the parent domain/forest.
For example...One of the Members of the Local Admin group on a server is the "Enterprise Admins".  This group lives in "Corp.Fabrikam.com" yet the server is one level deeper in "ChildDomain.Corp.Fabrikam.com".
So of course, when looking in the Child Domain there is no Enterprise Admins group for it to find and it gives us an error that it can not be found.  Samething for Groups that live in other child domains of the forest (ChildDomain2.corp.Fabrikam.com)
I am trying to figure out how to get the command to distinguish between these differences of the Group accounts and return the results from the domain those accounts live in.   Any ideas if this is normal behavior or if there is a work around?
    Thanks!

You have to chase the answer.  If you do not have permissions on those domains you cannot retrieve the info.  I suspect it is your script that is wrong and not AD because AD tends to work as required.
In other words.  Without a script we cannot be of much help.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Scanning Multiple Domains

I'm trying to scan across multiple domains with the MAP toolkit.  I have a stand-alone computer not in any domain and I'm searching by IP address.  When I try to enter the credentials I use domain\username and I get an error that I the wizard can't
authenticate to that domain.  I need a single database that collects data from several domains, so I either need this to work, or another option.
Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

As found in our Read Me's known issues section:
If the MAP Toolkit is installed on a computer that is a member of a domain, log on to the computer using a domain user account. Use of a local computer account on a computer that is a member of a domain will result in authentication failures to remote computers,
even if the correct domain credentials are provided to the Inventory and Assessment or Performance Metrics Wizards.

  • Multiple objects, multiple domains, for-loops the problem?

    Hi,
I've based a small amount of Powershell code off the code I've found here: http://halfloaded.com/blog/powershell-using-posh-to-search-across-multiple-domains-in-forest/
Ideally what I'm aiming for is for it to find the current forest, enumerate the domains, and then for each domain to search for a specific user. If it finds the user it should then do something, for now just clear a value extensionAttribute8.
What I suspect is happening is it finds the users but then tries to modify them while attached to the current domain, which is child1.
    Domain structure:
     - Root
       - child1
       - child2
    cls
    $objForest = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Forest]::GetCurrentForest()
    $DomainList = @($objForest.Domains | Select-Object Name)
    $Domains = $DomainList | foreach {$_.Name}
    foreach($Domain in ($Domains))
    $ADsPath = [ADSI]"LDAP://$Domain"
    $objSearcher = New-Object System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher($ADsPath)
    $objSearcher.Filter = "SamAccountName=testuser"
    $objSearcher.SearchScope = "Subtree"
    $colResults = $objSearcher.FindAll()
    foreach ($objResult in $colResults)
    $userDomain = $objResult.GetDirectoryEntry()
    Set-ADUser $userDomain.DistinguishedName[0] -clear extensionAttribute8
    It errors with

    $Objects = Get-ADObject -LDAPFilter "SamAccountName=dttestuser" -Server $Domain -Properties extensionAttribute8
    Foreach ($Object in $Objects)
    Set-ADUser $Object -clear extensionAttribute8
If anyone could tell me why removing the loop:
    Foreach ($Object in $Objects)
    And saying
    Set-ADUser $Objects -clear extensionAttribute8
Errors I'd be interested. $objects only finds 1 object so having the loop makes no sense but it does seem to stop it error'ing!

  • CCM / AD intigration with Multiple domains

Our corporation is made up of two different active directory domains. Is it possible to integrate call manager with both domains?

If they are in the same forest, yes you can. Take a look at the following link:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_callmg/4_2/srnd4_2/uc4_2/42drctry.htm#wp1067012
There are definitely some added complexities and considerations in this sceario. Take a look at the following note from the previous link:
"In a multiple-domain AD forest, try to keep the users for a specific Cisco Unified CallManager cluster within a single domain, and follow the guidelines described previously. If a single domain is not possible because users are spread across multiple domains, set the User Search Base to the lowest point in the tree containing all domains with users serviced by the Cisco Unified CallManager cluster. In structures in which serviced child domains are under the top-level domain, the User Search Base must be set at the root of the entire AD forest. In all cases, though, try to ensure that a domain controller for each serviced domain is collocated with Cisco Unified CallManager, or that the network is sufficiently resilient and fast to allow remote searches with no greater performance degradation than occurs with local searches."
Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

  • Principal mapping across domains -help!

Hi, I am trying to find a way to authenticate users on a WL6 domain

  • Exchange setup for multiple domains

We are planning to deploy Exchange server 2013, We have two companies and would like to create Email box for both the companies with same name.
Example : [email protected], [email protected]
We would like to have separte email boxes for the both companies. Please suggest us accordingly.

That should be simple enough. Exchange can handle having multiple domains for sending / receiving and users can have multiple mailboxes configured in Outlook. The name field in Exchange doesn't need to be unique (the account name does obviously), so for
instance there's no issue having "Fred Bloggs" <[email protected]> and "Fred Bloggs" <[email protected]> both setup.
In a way the trickier part is setting it up in Outlook since different versions react differently. If you're using Outlook 2013 it should be quite straight forward. As you can see here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee815819.aspx the manual setup is easy enough for multiple exchange mailboxes, though auto mapping should work as well. If you're in a network AD
environment (eg connecting using your local password), then realistically you'll want one mailbox to be primary which is associated to your network login, and then that login to have full access and send as permissions on the second mailbox.
You may also need to deploy a reg key change to enable saving sent items from the second mailbox into that mailboxes sent items folder rather then the primary mailboxes (assuming you want to keep messages two and from both domains separate and in their own
mailboxes). The reg key is listed here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2843677 and is definitely needed in Outlook 2007 and 2010 but I'm not sure if it's still an issue if you're using Outlook 2013.

  • Multiple domains for tracker.js

I'm using the personalization functionality of CQ 5.4, which appears to force a request for http://localhost:4502/libs/wcm/stats/tracker.js when pages load. According to the docs at http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/5-4/deploying/configuring_cq.html#OSGi Configuration in the Repository , I should be able to override this URL by adding some nodes to /apps/projectName. However, my tests seem to show that doing so for one project affects all sites on the server. In production, the client has a number of domains all running on one CQ instance.
    1) Is there a way to remove this request altogether without modifying any JSPs in the /libs folder, or inheriting/overriding them?
    2) Is there a way to support multiple domains?
The best solution I've come up with so far is creating a generic domain like cq-tracking.clientName.com, and having all sites use that.

    See the following:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00808c3c45.
    shtml
    *Perform Multi-Domain Searches (Optional) *
*Optional.* The ASA currently does not support the LDAP referal
mechanism for multi-domain searches (Cisco bug ID CSCsj32153).
Multi-domain searches are supported with the AD in Global Catalog Server
mode. In order to perform multi-domain searches, setup up the AD server
for Global Catalog Server mode, usually with the these key parameters
for the LDAP server entry in the ASA. The key is to use an
ldap-name-attribute that must be unique across the directory tree.
    server-port 3268
    ldap-scope subtree
    ldap-naming-attribute userPrincipalName
If global catalog server is not an option for you, you can always create two seperate SSL tunnel-groups and two seperate LDAP aaa-server groups and this would also allow you to do two AD domains (but the drawback is that you would have to inform the user which group they should select)

  • Supporting Multiple domains in IM&P with and Expressway deployment?

Hello everyone. This is long winded but the context is needed to explain what I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated.
My customer has piloted IM&P for 1 year now and is looking to take it to the next level. They purchased Expressway Core & Edge and they are looking to enable Mobile Remote Access, B2B Video and XMPP Federation. One issue is that the Jabber domain that was selected 1 year ago for the pilot was a local domain. The reason for this is because the multidomain support was not available at the time. Internally there are 3 domains. example.ca, examplesales.ca, and examplebanannas.com. Their Jabber ID they use today is example.root.local. I am reading through the guides and it seems as though IM&P allows you to map a JABBER ID to an email address or a directory URI. This will allow multiple presence domains within one Presence cluster. The problem is that it appears as though federation will not work through expressway core / edge if you use this method. Expressway-E does not support XMPP address translation (of email addresses, for example). If you are using Expressway-E for XMPP federation, you must use native presence Jabber IDs from IM and Presence Service.
    This being said
Based on my findings, I believe Cisco now supports multi-domain setup for IM&P with the "caveat" federation still doesn't work. My customer is not happy with this but still would like to proceed with the rest of the benefits that MRA brings to the table for their Jabber deployment.
To support the above scenario it is my understanding I need to make an adjustment to the configuration of IM&P. As I stated when I opened the case my customer’s current IM&P domain is “example.root.local” their JID is made up of [email protected]. It’s my understanding we cannot use this domain and activate MRA so we need to adjust everyone’s JID to be a Publicly routable DNS name. Since everyone that has a JABBER account also has an email account I was thinking we map the JID to the email. I’m trying to understand how to get from where we are to where we need to be. I found this guide but it doesn’t talk about the effects of doing this on a live system setup the way my customer is setup.

    Domains Configuration
Use the controls on this window to view and edit domains managed by the IM and Presence Service. Previously, the IM and Presence Service supported a single domain. With this release, you can specify multiple domains.
    Before You Begin
To take advantage of multiple IM and Presence Service domains, you must choose Directory URI as the IM address scheme on the Advanced Presence Settings window. If the IM address scheme is set to UserID@domain, the default domain is used for the IM and Presence Service. The status of the IM Address Scheme setting is displayed at the top of the window in the Status box. The Status box contains a link to the Advanced Presence Settings window.
Is this what I need to do?

Can this be confirmed?

  • DNS for Multiple Domains

I am trying to figure out the proper configuration for DNS that will support multiple domains. I have DSN working now for just one domain.
My XServe has a static IP connected directly to cable modem and is the master nameserver. I also have an Ubuntu server with static IP connected directly to cable modem that is the secondary (slave) nameserver.
On the XServe, I currently have a primary zone created for domain1.com. with:
    * an A record for domain.com. (Fully Qualified) and the same static IP as the XServe
    * an A record for ns1 (not fully qualified) and the same static IP as the XServe
    * Aliases for ftp, www and mail (not fully qualified) mapped to destination ns1.domain1.com. (Fully Qualified)
Nameservers under the Primary Zone is ns1.domain1.com. and Mail Exchangers is ns1.domain1.com. with a priority of 10.
The reverse zone is getting created appropriately for me as far as I can tell. I am able to access www.domain1.com just fine as well as mail and ftp.
Now I want to add a new domain2.com to this master nameserver. I know that I will need a new Primary Zone for domain2.com. to be recognized and to setup it's aliases?
Can I use the same static IP or do I have to have a unique static IP?
Can I use the ns1.domain1.com. nameserver or does the new domain2.com need new nameservers?
    Does domain2.com have it's own A records?
Does the mail exchangers need to be different for domain2.com?
It seems like all the documentation and information that I can find are just for configuring one domain and not so much for multiple domains. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Spotted Dog

Don't think of subsequent domains as being any different from the first domain.
For every domain you need to provide certain information, including a list of the hostnames within that domain. There is no relationship between 'www' in domain1.com and 'www' in domain2.com (unless you point them to the same address, but that's a different issue).
Any host record in the zone can either be an A record (where you specify an IP address) or a CNAME (where you specify another hostname that it maps to).
In the case of your web server handling both domains you could set 'www.domain2.com' as an A record with the appropriate IP address, or you could set it as a CNAME with a value of 'www.domain1.com.' (essentially saying 'www.domain2.com has the same IP address of www.domain1.com, so go find that address').
It's also possible to use cross-domain records for things like name servers and mail servers - in other words you can set your MX record for domain2.com to mail.domain1.com (essentially saying that domain2.com's email is handled by mail.domain1.com).
Can I use the same static IP or do I have to have a unique static IP?
That's not a question for DNS. What you're defining are the hostnames in that domain. If you have one server (e.g. a web server) that can handle multiple domains (e.g. one apache server handling web traffic for both domain1.com and domain2.com) then, sure, you can use the same IP address for both.
If, on the other hand, you have specific services that cannot be multi-hosted (e.g. HTTPS) then you will need different IP addresses.
Can I use the ns1.domain1.com. nameserver or does the new domain2.com need new nameservers?
Sure, it's entirely possible to use domain1.com's name servers for domain2.com.
    Does domain2.com have it's own A records?
It can do, or not, as you choose. If you're running www.domain2.com on the same server as www.domain1.com then you could use a CNAME record to point www.domain2.com to www.domain1.com.,or you could set an A record with the same IP address.
The result would be the same, but the CNAME has the advantage that if your IP address changes you only need to change your DNS in one place (www.domain1.com) and all the other addresses would automatically follow.
Does the mail exchangers need to be different for domain2.com?
Not at all, if your mail server is configured to handle mail for both domains it's entirely possible to specify mail.domain1.com as the MX record for domain2.com.

  • Issue with Update Rollup 5 for Exchange 2010 SP3 - Mailboxes that were auto mapped not working

Below is  my response in another thread but creating a new one in the hopes that someone has the same issue and a solution besides mine below.
Ever since we installed Update Rollup 5 for SP3 Exchange 2010 mailboxes that were auto mapped are not accessible. They all get the same error.
Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange has failed.
What I have been doing is removing the users permission, then adding them back using the noautomap switch in Powershell. After doing that, the user manually adds the mailbox and all is well.
Just a note here, I suspect it may have something to do with the version of Outlook 2010. We are running an older version here. I think only SP1 with no other incremental updates. Office is up to SP2. Also, one of the users I was working with could not access
the mailbox no matter what we tried but she can walk over to another workstation and open Outlook and access the very same mailbox so that pretty much proves its software related particularly with Outlook.
I cannot reproduce the problem on a workstation (XP) with a newer version of Outlook.
This has been wearing me out and I suspected the Update Rollup all long. Now I am confident as others are having the same problem. If you find out anything on how to fix this other than the steps above, let me know.

Not sure why it was suggested to use the auto mapping feature to grant permissions because that is the component that is causing the issue. Also, there is nothing wrong with the auto configuration because the user can access their own mailbox just fine and
also select mailboxes in their Outlook that were NOT auto mapped.
With that said, here is how I fixed them all.
Remove the permissions using the Exchange Console. Don't forget Send As
Wait about 15 minutes. The mailbox should disappear from the users Outlook
Open an Exchange PowerShell window and run the following command:
.\add-mailboxpermissionsnoautomap.ps1 -Identity mailbox -User user -AccessRights FullAccess
Have the user add the mailbox to their Outlook using the manual process.
    All is well....
If you don't have the PS script add-mailboxpermissionsnoautomap.ps1, you can download it. I stumbled across it a few years ago and use it all the time. If you can't find it, just use the Exchange built in command for adding mailbox folder permissions but
    specify automap $false.
The idea here is to grant the user access without auto mapping.

  • Multiple domains hosted on one OSX Server

    Hi guys,
Does anyone know if it is possible to host more than one domain name on OSX server?
A client of mine runs a number of businesses and is considering Snow Leopard Server, and wants to have multiple email domains and websites hosted on one server. Also per-account contacts sync and calendar sync would be useful, does anyone know if that's available?
    Thanks!
    W.

You can certainly host multiple domains on Mac OS X Server. There are a few options depending on how you want it to work.
If all the usernames are the same across all domains (e.g. [email protected] is the same person as [email protected]) then just change the mail server configuration to match all the domains in the mydestination parameter in /etc/postfix/main.cf.
If the domains are different (e.g. [email protected] is not the same account as [email protected]) then you have two options - one is to use the postfix model (which requires command-line management), the other is to add the email addresses in the shortname section for each user.
You may have some issues integrating contacts and calendars, though - if you take the postfix model then the users won't exist in Open Directory and won't have a calendar/contact link, etc.
If you follow the shortname model then you have one directory with all users in all domains and you'll need to work to separate them out if you need to.
