Autocorrect trigger: time vs. spacebar/return/punctuation

The autocorrect feature in Mountain Lion is frustrating in that it operates differently from iOS devices.
If you type a word which autocorrect wants to correct, time is the trigger for the autocorrection instead of the spacebar or other terminator.
For example, if you begin to type the word "ensuing" but get distracted mid-word and only type "ens" (pause), autocorrect jumps in and makes it "end" because that's what you meant, right?
iOS may make the suggestion, but it's not accepted until you use a space or other terminator (return, period, etc.). This is a much superior method of activating the correction.
Is there a way to change the behavior? Anybody?
(Googling autocorrect brings up lots of pages of Mountain Lion features and lots of iOS pages, but nothing on changing how autocorrect works in Mac OS X... er, "OS X".)
/Bill

You folks with your "Paste a photo into everything to turn autocorrect on" in all your mssages cracked me up. Thanks; I need that. It's been a hard month.
K. So first I'll spend a day with the keyboard pulled off (argh; that's gonna blow), and if I find out that's the solution, that's one thing. Oh, and I'll reset all my settings. (Grf. I hate you, Mr Man WhoSuggested That. That is in the No-Fun category.) In the event it's not, I'll take my pd (with appleCare; yay!) into the store and pester those folks about it, let them deal with it.
Thanks for letting me know I'm the only weirdy suffering from this. :-\ Least I have some ideas now. I appreciate it!

  • Re-arming trigger time with pxi-5122

    Hi all!
this is my first discussion in this forum so I'm not sure it's the right place to post it, because i'm using LabView but maybe it is an hardware problem.
So... I have a problem to calculate the re-arm trigger time for the pxi 5122.
From the data sheets I read that it should be about 3 us with the tdc off or 12 us if on.
But I needed an accurate measure of the dead time following each record measured so i decided to find it by myself...
Using an acquisition program I have previous written in LabView, I started single acquisitions of 10000 records and each record is composed of 128 samples; as signal I used square waves with different frequencies, of 10 volts peak-to-peak (my trigger was set on the first channel of 5122 with 1 volt of edge value).
First acquisition: 50 kHz wave. Theoretically I need 0.2 s to capture 10000 records without loosing any signals from the square wave. Choosing an acquisition time for a single record of 15.3 us, I found that the time required was 0.199998 s, very similar to the expected one.
Then choosing an acquisition time for a single record of 15.4 us, I found about 0.4 s.
I can guess that in this second case one every two wave peaks goes lost so I required twice the time to capture 10000 records.
    Because a wave period is 20 us I have calculated a dead time of 20 - 15.3 = 4.7 us.
It wasn't as the 3 us described for the 5122 but i wasn't impressed and i went on with my try.
Second wave: 20 kHz. I need 0.5 s to capture 10000 records without loosing signals from the square waves.
What i found was that in this case, choosing an acquisition time for a single record of 39.6 us I required 0,5 s to capture all the peaks, while with 39.7 us I required about 1 second, again twice the time.
As the previous example I have calculated the dead time: 50 - 39.6 = 10.4 us.
Very strange... the dead time I supposed being the rearming trigger (and so fixed) was different for the 2 cases.
Trying with others waves lenghts, values were always different.
This happen also fixing the frequency of the square wave and changing the number of samples per record.
For example, with 128 samples per records as I said before I needed a measure time of about 15.3 us to collect all the consecutive peaks, while with 64 samples I needed 12,8 us and so on.
So it seems to be a dependency between the dead time after a records ( the rearming trigger? now i'm not so sure if I can call so) and the sampling frequency of the pxi 5122.
But I don't know why the DAQ behave in this way.
Is it right? Rearm time should be fixed, shouldn't it?
I know it required a bit of time to read my problem but i tried to be more accurate I could.
    Thank you in advance.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just as with full blown oscope, the cannot select a timing period between the scales shown on the front panel.  For example, the horizontal setting is labled 1us, 2us, 5us, etc.  You cannot select 2.5us.  Here is an excerpt from the PXI-5122 spec manual triggering section:
    Divide by
    n decimation available where 1<n<65,535
For more information about Sample Clock and decimation, refer to the NI High-Speed Digitizers Help.
What this means is that when you change from 15.3us to 15.4us, the scope changes timing ranges.  That is why it takes twice as long to acquire the samples.

  • Identify the trigger time Badi ECRM_CRM_UPLOAD

Hi, can any one help me regarding this?
While ending the contract in CRM, move out reason will be captured in custom developed field in CRM contract line item and the same will be replicated in ISU contract custom field (move out reason).  In order to achieve the required functionality badi ECRM_CRM_UPLOAD will be implemented to capture the move out reason from CRM and update the same in ISU contract through BAPI_ISUCONTRCT_CHANGEFROMDATA.
Now the problem is that after ending the contract, data has not been replicated in ISU.So i cant debug and cant get trigger time of the BADI.
    How can I approch?
    Thanks in advance.

  • EA6500 completely disappointing, erratic performance, waste of time and money, return it

Bought this late last year, paid almost $200 for up to date features, dual band and fast speed.  This is apiece of junk.  Firmware up to date too.
Intermittent  both WIFI and wired connections.  Randomly drops WIFI and wired connections and then requires full power down to reset.  Waste of my time to do so 2 or 3 times each week.  Calls to tech support direct me  to TURN OFF THE FEATURES (prioritization, parental control) included in it.  Really?  For $200 why should I have too. And they are ALREADY off and it chugs along inconsistently.
Saved box and receipt and am returning it.  Need advice what to buy now.  Have had WIFI at home for 10 years, this was my 3rd router. Had more problem in a few weeks than I had in a decade with the other 2 and they were MUCH cheaper.

    Hi vid81,
Have you ever tried to call tech support?  If you did, you probably had a bad router. I suggest the newest from Linksys WRT1900ac. Check this out.

  • CF8. ODBC Vs JDBC Oracle Date. Time portion not returned

    Hi.
Just upgraded one of our servers to CF8. We are connecting to
a Oracle 10g R2 database and we have also started using Oracles
    JDBC drivers.
If I do the following query under ODBC and dump the result.
    Query :
    Select CALL_DATE
    From CALLS
    WHERE CALL_ID=1234
    CALL_DATE
    2007-10-09 19:03:32.0
    Same query under JDBC :
    I get
    CALL_DATE
    2007-10-09 00:00:00.0
    Where's my time part gone???
I know I can mess about with the SQL to return what I want,
but we've got loads of old apps that use CF to format the date and
time so it would be a bit unrealistic to do that! Plus we wouldn't
be able to work out the time between two dates.
    HELP!
    Ta
    Nick

I am facing a similiar issue in a different context. When I
use select xyz_Date from abc table in coldfusion cfquery tag, the
    out put comes as follows:
    CF5 - '05-MON-2007'
    CF8 - '2008-01-27 00:00:00.0'
Note: The xyz_Date is stored without time stamp in the
    database.
both running on 10.2.0.3 Oracle version. This is creating
problem when inserting dates when we only use xyz_date as a value
to be inserted. It worked fine on CF5 but not on CF8 due to format
change. Is there a way to set it to behave like CF5.

  • System time stuck after returning from deep sleep

    Hi,
When I return from deep sleep, my system time is set to when I entered deep sleep. Only after opening Date & Time system preferences, the time is corrected.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

Other basic and routine maintenance is often helpful
even if the results of preventative tasks go unseen.
The use of Disk Utility's function to 'repair disk permission'
and also the ability to start the computer into SafeBoot
mode, where it is forced to check and repair system bits,
(hold shift key on startup, wait, login; at desktop, you can
also choose to run Disk Utility per above, by using GO in
    the Finder menubar, and open Utilities folder> disk utility;
when done repairing disk permissions, quit; then restart)
is one of the harmless simpler single or dual acts one can do.
There are third party utility like interface tools that allow
the user to run maintenance tasks through the GUI of
that tool and not have to force them from a Single User
mode of access; these are often freeware, such as the
well known OnyX by Titanium Software. In my Macs,
once a month or more (if I feel motivated) I run OnyX's
'automation' tab selection, and check-box all of them.
And have OnyX's preferences set to restart after its done.
Some of the other options can be helpful, when you discover
their purpose and find when they can have practical worth.
In any event, some kinds of issues can be headed off; and
a good idea is to invest in some backup strategy which
gives you a few options; although I am lazy about it now, I
have made backup full bootable clones of my computers.
This is done to an external drive which supports same.
Learning ahead of a drastic need, how to use some of
the better free-running downloadable cloneware, is good.
And the idea is you can actually do most of the minor tech
work and repairs to a system (and have boot clones) at
home; especially handy when you live 100+ miles on a
road to nowhere. As some will argue, the living planet is
on a dead-end road, it is good to get out and witness life.
Being where there are no tech support persons, I have
learned to do more than I need to; and when not messed
with, tend to enjoy learning more than I'd actually need to.
In any event, hopefully things go well with these matters...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How many times did you return your Zen Mic

Im just curious, i am about to return mine for the second time so i would like to see if im one of the few that has returned their product more than once, and that most of everyones problems are resolved after the first return.

2nd Bought from CompUSA and had to be returned because it would not connect to my laptop.
3rd Replacement from CompUSA. The headphone jack was totally shot by the third week.

  • Repair time / pick up & return

Anyone knows how long Toshiba usually needs to fix a laptop?
On 2005-07-23 my m40-107 died within a month of purchase. After some phonecalls and endless waiting times I got a number of a service centre. Instead of picking up my laptop I had to bring it in myself on 2005-07-25.
I'm waiting for a phonecall for 3 weeks now. So if any of you had your laptop being fixed, let me know how long it took before you got it back.
If someone at Toshiba reads this:
Thanks for the pick up & return service, not!

    Hi,
Sorry to hear about the delay in getting your notebook fixed. On the two occasions when my notebook has had to go to an authorised repairer it has always been returned within one week.
I suppose it depends on the nature of the problem and whether the repairer needs to order parts or components, but I would definitely contact them to ascertain the reason for the delay and to check on progress.
    best of luck

  • Timed Trigger timer resets when text is eneterd in TEXTEDIT

    Forum,
I have a java WD applcation, where the requirement is to Auto Save the contents of a view with several Text Edits automatically after 10 minutes, so that the data gets saved while the user is writing (and it is saved if he forgets to save the content and logs out or power goes off).
For the same, i have used a Timed Trigger Element which calles a method to save the contents in the textedits. But the problem is, it is not behaving as espected.
The Timed Trigger element's timer resets even when text is entered in the textedit, though i was under an impresseion that the Timed Triggers timer resets only when there is a request from clent to sever.
pls tell me how to rectify this issue.

    Hi,
Ensure that you do not have any events which are triggered by changes in the TextEdit control.

  • Time machine restore returns only empty folders

I need to restore several folders with lots of files within. When entering TM, I see the files and folders. Selecting on one or several folders and clicking restore, copies only the first and empty folder over. I can repeat this by going back to TM, this time selecting all the files within the folder and click restore. I get asked for my password and all files are succesfully restored. However, there are many folders with many files and I think TM should be copying folders and there contents. The same happens if I manually try to do a copy and paste via the finder.
Background to this: I had my harddrive replaced on my iMac. During set-up, I restored all my contents from the timemachine backup. No problems here. I had one folder, which I had deleted before the last backup from which I restored the iMac, so went back in time to recover it. Then run into problem above.
Folders and files have rwx permission. I have searched through all the discussions, but not found an answer to this.
    Thanks for help.

    Additional information:
When trying to restore the folder and files to a different destination, I get the error code 36, items can't be read or written.
Checking permissions: the folders in TM have drwxrwxrsx. User is correct = me, group is staff (unknown to me and not in my accounts). So it seems a permission problem. Only thing is strange, that I can restore the files one by one.
Have also checked pondini's troubleshooting tips, still not sure as all files. Should I reset the group on the backup disk? or my own iMac. Seems a bit too risky for me.

  • TS1702 hi, my iPhone is a US purchased officially unlocked iPhone4. It is not jailbroken. My problem is, that apps either wont start or if they start then they quit after a short time and everything returns to the main page. I have IOS 5.1, I turn it off

Hi, as I said in the statement, my iPhone4 is unlocked, bought in the US on July 27th last year. I had this problem before so I had it returned to the USA as they would not do anything with it here in Hungary. I got a new one without extended warranty so it would expire in a week or so. And the same problem came up again a few days ago. I try to send sms, or open mail, p r use facebook, the apps quit on me while typing sms or chatting. I turn the phone off and on but it wont help. What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Tamás

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
    Try each of these.

  • Button - Varying pause trigger time

    Captivate 8.0.1.242 - Windows 7 - 64 bit - swf format
I'm adding a button which runs an advanced action expression exactly as this post (CP8 - add a replay button on a slide). I have a 1 minute CPVC video. Now, I want this replay button to be present always but not pause the slide. I have other buttons from the master slide which takes care of pausing before slide exit. But this replay button comes with a pause. Anyway, like every other button, I try to move the pause in the timeline using mouse drag and drop to the end of the time line around 59 seconds. But every time i drag beyond the current time line display threshold which 17 seconds when captivate is maxed out, the pause goes back to around 3 or 4 seconds in the timeline. This is so weird. I dont even  need this pause and if i try to atleast move it beyond the video length, I'm facing this problem.

Do you like it to be controlled? You can get workspaces back if switching over to Expert mode, just select the 4th option in Preferences, General Settings, 'Enable custom ....'. Then you can have all the panels open and even floating. You see in my screenshot that I have 4 panels in the right docking station in my normal workspace, and I have the Master Slide panel in the bottom docking station, because I want to have both Filmstrip and Master slides at my fingertips. In Quizzing I have both Quizzing Properties (left) and Properties visible and the Advanced Interaction floating and reduced to its title. Saves a lot of time.
Can you change the pausing of the button in the Timing Panel?

  • Unity Connection policy trigger time?

Does anyone know, upon enabling the aging policy, how soon after enabling does it kicks in? Wonder if there is a timer it cycles through in a 24 hr period?
    Thanks

Interesting, thanks for the clarification!  I played around with it some more, I tested disabling message aging entirely (not having messages go to the deleted items folder) and that one took effect right away, any new messages that were deleted were purged immediately.  However, if there were pre-existing messages in the deleted items folder, those didn't get removed and seemed to be using the ;pre-existing policy.  +5 for you as well!

  • Trigger and Gate Only Returns One Channel

    Hello all,
I am trying to write a VI that will run in the background and start writing some data to a file when it detects a signal. For detecting the signal, the VI uses the "Trigger and Gate" express VI to see when the input voltage goes above a treshhold. Then I plan to write whatever data comes out of the "Triggered Signal" output.
There are 8 channels, with the 6th one being the channel that is being checked for a signal. I have configured the "Trigger and Gate" express VI to trigger when that channel reaches 0.01 V and it does trigger when that happens. However the problem is that the "Triggered Signal" output only contains data for the first channel, and I want it to contain all of the channels.
I don't have access to the device that will be sending the data right now, so I am testing the VI using the "Read From Measurements File" express VI. It reads from a file that contains data that I saved from the device previously. When I set the the "Retrieve segments of specified size" for the express VI, so I can see how it progresses, I get the error I mentioned above. When I set it to "Retrieve segments of original size" (the file contains only 1 segment, so it reads all data), everything works as expected.
Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
I attached the VI with some sample data.
