Autoforward one page in iWeb site to .Mac gallery?

Does anyone know if there is a way to have one of your iWeb pages autoforward to another site? I would like my "Picture" page in my iWeb site to automatically forward to my .Mac gallery, rather than force people to have to click the link.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you!

Here's another way to do it and it will be automatic, no viewer effort required: add the following code to the head portion of your Pictures page after publishing it:
<meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://www.the-domain-you-want-to-redirect-to.com">.
Replace the “0” with the number of seconds you would like to pass before the redirection takes place. Put in the URL of your destination site.
Any time you make changes to that particular page or use the Publish All to MobileMe you will have to reedit that page. This page demonstrates the effect.
The demo is set to go to another page in the site but you can send the visitor to any URL you desire.

  • Issues with publishing my iWeb site to .MAC - Progress bar freezes at 100%

Well, as topic says, i'm having troubles publishing my iWeb site to .MAC now since upgrading to '08. The progress bar reaches full circle, but then nothing. Left it uploading to .Mac for well over 2 hours one time while out of the house...nada. Sometimes i get an error message, sometimes not and have to close iWeb while it's still publishing.
    Any feedback regarding this?
    Thanks in advance.

Update: After 36 hours, I have successfully managed to upload my entire website via the "Publish All to .Mac" option. I now have blue indicators on the left side of my iWeb program in place of those pesky red ones. How did I do it? Well, I'm not sure. But on my last attempt I looked at the problem from a different perspective, so I took an alternate approach. I had a feeling that I was experiencing a network timeout issue caused by a 3rd party software, so I created a Whitelist entry on my website filtering software that allows unlimited access to "idisk.mac.com";; and "web.mac.com";; domains. I've got two kids at home, so I'm running the free OpenDNS Dashboard service on my network which provides content filtering (blocks adult site, phishing site, etc..). I started using this service two weeks ago. My last website update was a week before that. I figured I had nothing to loose by trying. To my surprise, it worked. Now, it took almost two hours to publish, of which the pie indicator was in the  "filled" position for a nerve racking hour. To reconfirm,  I then made a minor change to one of the pages on my website and re-published. This time using the "Publish to .Mac" option in place of the ALL option and once again it worked. It took less than 5 minutes. Now, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, maybe Apple fixed the problem, or maybe my website filtering service was causing some type of time out issue all along??  Don't know.. But at least for now, I'm a happy camper since I have my site up.

  • *** Publishing only one iweb site to .mac

I have a number of different sites creates in iWed that I normally upload to my own server and NOT my .mac account. I would like to clear my .mac space to 0 and then upload 1 of my entire movies there. I'd like to create the backdrop in iweb and publish this entire movie to my .mac account but I know that if I just go file>publish to .mac, that all my pages will upload to .mac.
Is there a manual way to control this? Ideally I'm hoping it's possible within iweb, but I'm guessing it's not. If it's not, will it work if I publish my pages to a folder, and then select my movie .html and files folder and manually drop them into my idisk/movies folder? Will that then publish only my movie site to my .mac account?
I'm not at the office today, so I'm just wondering if someone can give me a heads up if this may work. I'm trying to research in advance!
    Thanks everyone!

    Hi
Your iWeb sites are contained in a domain.sites file, which lives here:
    User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites
To separate sites, you need to have seperate domain files. You can do this by simply creating a second User Account on your Mac and creating the website there, and then use Publish to .mac.
Or you can swap out the domain files manually or use something like Domains Juggler, from Cyclosaurus.
There is some more info. on the How2 page of my site, www.willg4pb.com.

  • One page displays incorrectly on my Mac

Hi, I have a 6 page site hosted on Mac.com. All pages display correctly on various devices but on the Mac I used to create it, one page displays as plain text (in Safari) in Firefox it is fine. I suspect the file may be being read from a cache somewhere on my Mac but cannot find where. Have tried resetting Safari and emptying cache etc. Tried deleting the page and publishing and it doesn't appear but when I paste the page back into iweb and publish again the fault is still there. Just odd why it works on all other Macs using same OS and Safari, but not on the machine that created it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

To answer my own question - in case it helps anyone else. Just tried duplicating the offending page and renaming and relinking and it seems to work. Not sure why exactly but it now seems OK.

  • Download iWeb site from .mac

    Hello
I make most of my iWeb pages (ver 1.1) at home, but sometimes I am at my vacation home. I have iLife on both machines. Can I download the site I have made which is on .Mac to my second computer AND create new pages to be uploaded to .Mac? I have tried looking around for such a command but I can't find any. I realize that any pages I make on the second machine will have to be updated on my main machine.

No, because the published files on MobileMe (previously .Mac) cannot be opened in iWeb. Only iWeb's key Domain file can be opened in iWeb, so you can transfer that to another Mac as explained in these articles — the first also applies to iWeb '06...

  • Making an iweb site for .mac on a computer with no internet connection

    Hi.
I am making an iweb site for publishing to a .mac account on a computer that is supposed to have internet access via airport, but it's not working properly at the moment.
I would really like to transfer the site onto my other machine in my office which has a decent broadband connection (I have iweb installed on there too). Is it possible to transfer a site that is yet to be published from one computer to another?
    regards
    David T

    David,
You might want to try burning your Domain file to a CD or DVD by using http://iWebFAQ.com/iWebBackup.zip and opening the file & Publish from the other computer while effectively backing up your Domain file in the process.

  • How long does one page in iWeb go?

    Hi,
I currently have a website up on freewebs.com and now I have my own domain name and am working on making a new site with iWeb and just started using it the other day.
When you are working on a page within iWeb lets say the Welcome page, are you limited to one page or can you keep on going within that page so it scrolls down. Let's say my first page is really 5 pages do I just keep adding stuff to that first page and it will automatically scroll when someone opens it in their browser (provided they click the down arrow)?
What I'm really asking is, is their a limit to how long your first page is? I hope this is making sense here.
    S.

I don't think that a page in iWeb is limited in it's length. There maybe a limit that apple has placed on it, but it is well past 6000 pixels. You can change how long your page is by opening the inspector and clicking on the second tab from the left. This will open your "page" dialouge. Edit the length of your page by increasing the number in the "content height" field. About the automatic updating of the length in your page; that does happen, but only when you move certain things. iWeb will not lengthen your page when you keep adding more stuff into it. It will increase the length, however, if you litterally move the position of something that is a default item in your selected template. For instance, iWeb will update the length of your page if you move the position of that default text field (wich is in French or somethinng) beyond the current page's "page length" limitation. You can see more clearly the boundaries wich you've set for yourself by changing temporarily the "browser background" color (also in the "page" dialouge in the inspector.
One other tip: (this is not at all related) Personally I don't like the look or configuration of the links in Apple's provided navigation menu. I choose not to display the nav menu and I use my own. It takes more work - you have to worry about style and all of that in addition to coordinating all those links. so let's say you use a tab configuration like i do. I have five tabs, and I have about 40 pages on my website. That means I had to make 200 links just for my custom nav menu. Coordinating them to make sure each one is correctly configured is another thing. I think it's worth it though. - And the copy and paste technology invented 3 billion years ago has been used more and more by me to complete that task! check it out if you like at DesignNashville.com.

  • One page in my site has 3 columns but when I publish the site it shows up with 2 columns

I set up the site with 2 columns per page, except for one page which has 3 columns. I looks right in iweb, but when I publish the site it still shows up with 2 columns like the other pages...any idea how to correct that?

Clear your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reload the page.

  • Blog page in iweb site not responding or linking like other pages

    Hi
This is a new issue for me. I have multiple pages that I created in my iweb site through my personal domain ... studio8films.net
All page hyperlinks will work properly, but the BLOG page seems to stall and when I look at the bottom of the window it is trying to access www.me.com where ALL THE OTHER PAGES show the access to web.mac.com
Can someone tell me why this is the case? It doesn't make sense. And it is a new issue.

    Furthermore ...
When the BLOG page finally loads, I click on the 'add comment' and a message comes up that says 'We're sorry. We are having a problem processing your request.
Is there something going on with mobile.me and iweb blog pages or is there something wrong on my end?

  • Iweb site on .mac LOADING SLOW! Please Help

My iweb site loads very slow. It does have a lot of images, but can someone help me to convert some of my text files that iweb made images to text? Or any other advice would be much appreciated.
Here's my site it's hosted on .mac
    http://youth.kccfamily.org
    Thanks!

But if that's the solution, then doesn't that mean
that if I add a new site as a separate domain file,
it will delete all the old domains again? (my
bandwidth is not unlimited, though I can use the
    connection at work…)
No, it won't do this, since any new sites you will (hopefully) be creating in new domain files. The reason it happens after you split the domain files is because each newly split Domain file still had memory of ALL of your sites. So when you deleted the extra sites out to leave one, then iWeb thinks that you wanted them deleted from online as well. That's why it deletes the other sites when you publish one. But after the first round of "Publish Alls", iWeb is satisfied that it has done its job, and it has purged any knowledge of those other sites in the process. So it won't happen again.
And does using iWebsites complicate matters?
iWeb won't complicate matters as far as publishing goes.
How much of a difference does it make, and would it
be safer to use the manual folder / Domain file
    structure?
Either method is safe as long as you understand what is going on. All that iWebSites is doing is moving around the different Domain files for you. It also helps you to create new Domain files. It supposed to be easier than doing things manually...or you don't need to know the manual method if you use iWebSites.

  • Multiple users password for some pages on iWeb site?

    Hi guys,
I've been checking out this topic here on AD, but not really happy with what I found. Is there anybody out here who could help me with a multiple users password html code??? I want a "members only" link on the homepage linked to a page where people have to enter username and password and then go to a special "homepage" where they can click to different PDF files. It doesn't sound that hard, but again, I don't like the html codes I found so far. Hope there is someone out here who knows something nice.
    Thanks!!
    Marc : )

Marc ~ You may have to +"think different"+ to integrate the following suggestion into your iWeb site, but take a look at: http://drop.io/about
    Here's an example: http://drop.io/alancito
    ...the password there is: guest1
You'll find a downloadable PDF document at the bottom of that page and note that drop.io didn't require an email address, name or personal registration to set up the above “drop”.

  • Adding files to iWeb site using .mac

    Hi
Apologies if this has been answered before but I would like to achieve the following:
I have an iWeb site published to a .mac account. I would like to add links to other files such as m3u or qtl playlists and host the mp3/mov files somewhere else in my .mac account. I have read a little about using the idisk feature to achieve this. What's the best way of proceeding?

which means you have to put any file or folder linked to in this way inside iDisk>Web>Sites??
    That's correct.
Presumably that means when you publish any updates out of iWeb it leaves these files/folders alone and only updates what it needs to?
You can create folders as you like.
Just make sure you do not add a Site in iWeb with the same name as your folder. iWeb will overwrite that folder. Try it.
And do not add an index.html file of your own in the root of the Server. I have a custom index.html file. So any time I publish a Site in iWeb (by mistake) I have to make sure I replace the index.html file by iWeb with the file of my own.
But I do a lot of things I'm not supposed to do.
