Automatic hyperlinks inside a text block

hi,
I'm doing page with multiple pop-ups that each contain an information paragraph with adress, phone numbers and email adresses...
Is it possible to have all email adresses automatically converted to hyperlinks??
thanks, j

Another option is to use a reg expression to detect static email references and filter them out (ie find a match) among target selector; then replace it with a live email vesion.
http://www.joe-stevens.com/2010/02/18/convert-all-static-text-email-addresses-to-mailto-li nks-using-jquery/
So as per example in the above link reference, your solution would be something like this (place in compositionReady event handler
//////// copy to compositionReady /////////
var regEx = /(\w+([-+.']\w+)*@\w+([-.]\w+)*\.\w+([-.]\w+)*)/;
    $("div").filter(function() {
        return $(this).html().match(regEx);
    }).each(function() {
        $(this).html($(this).html().replace(regEx, "<a href=\"$1mailto:$1\">$1</a>"));
//////////end copy//////////////////
Note - the only change I made to the orginal authors script is the element selector reference. The default tag selector in Edge Animate is div so that is what I used.
If you have other tag slectors to filter from you will need to chain it into the matched selects.

  • Inserting automatic file name within text block

    InDesign has a great feature where the filename can be inserted as variable text which will automatically update whenever the filename is changed. Is there a plug-in for Illustrator which can do the same thing?

    You could use a script to update, each time you run the script.

    When printing you can turn on page information.
    To get that into the text box of your choice, the best advice I can offer, is to do a save as, copy the filename, don't save, and then paste your clipboard. Though what you ask for is really nice, and I would love that, and even an automated date and your username. With how many people do Illustrator slugs in the professional world, is disappointing that Adobe nor a 3rd party devleoper has not come up with this.

    I want to know that:  "automatically increasing text block size when typing?" This works exactly in Freehand 10, 11.
    is it possible?
    Thanks.

    Smart Text Reflow was added to CS4, which might also be of interest to you.
    Adobe does, in fact listen to customer requests for new and improved features. Not all requests can be satisfied during each release cycle, but if you have a suggestion, you should file it at Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form

  • Tab rulers are not locked to text blocks

    I have a brand new (2 weeks old) iMac working with CS4. I work in Prepress so my typesetting skills are a bit rusty...
    I am trying to work with the tab ruler. If I am viewing as a full page and have my text block selected, my tab rulers open up to the correct size on my text block. However since my document is quite large and my text block is tiny when viewed as full page, I am zooming into my text block to be able to see it correctly. My Tab rulers stay locked to the size and space of my full page viewer, even if I close my ruler and zoom in, then re-open it. What am I doing wrong?

    To clarify: That is, only if the entire width of the column is on screen, and only if your left sock is inside out (right sock during daylight savings time).

  • How can I have a standard text block appear on the last page of my documents?

    How can I have a standard text block appear on the last page of my documents without having to type it in all the time? I have a terms statement with a line for a customer’s signature which I want on the last page of my invoices and right now I have to type it in each time or cut and paste it from a previous invoice. I already have a Master Page that includes the customer information and my company information at the top of each page and I am using data merge to fill each page with the items ordered and their pictures etc. I would just like to have this standard terms block automatically show up on the last page after the last item in the data merge.
    Thank you all in advance for your help.

    Thank you Peter. This works. I have the text block now at the bottom of a second master page which I apply to the last page. For aesthetics I can modify the position of the text block in the new master page to bring it up from the bottom under the last item ordered when there is less than 4 items on the page. (my data merge fits up to 4 items with their images on a page).  If the last page is full I’ll insert a final page using the second master and also bring it up to the top of the page.

  • The option to add a hyperlink to a text or image is greyed out and not functional.  How do I fix this?

    The option to add a hyperlink to text or an image in pages is greyed out.  How do I fix this?

    Peter is correct. However, one can clever up two overlayed, grouped Text Box and simulate a hyperlinked image that can be placed in the document body with text flowing around the image. Moving the image requires temporarily turning off the hyperlink in the Link inspector. Example was Pages ’09 v4.3 on OS X 10.8.4.
    Steps:
    From the Pages Toolbar, select Text Box twice. The Text Box will be slightly offset. Select and drag the offset one to just above the centered one.
    Click inside the centered Text Box and back out the placeholder text. Now select this Text Box and choose the graphic inspector.
    Choose Fill > Image Fill. Choose your image, and then Scale to Fit the entire Text Box.
    From the Pages arrange menu, choose Make Background Objects Selectable, and Send Object to Background.
    In the Wrap inspector, select Object Causes Wrap, and your choice there. My example was door #2.
    Click inside your text-only Text Box. Change the placeholder text to three instances of the capital letter ‘O.’
    Launch the Font panel (command+T).
    Manually change the font size to 92 points. This just fits a default Text Box size without wrapping. I used Times New Roman Regular.
    Select the text, and with the Link inspector, enable your choice of hyperlink, and also disable it (for now) with the “Make all hyperlinks inactive.”
    With the text still selected, choose Font color from the Font panel. At the bottom of the Color tool, set the Opacity of your text to zero.
    Drag the transparent text-only Text Box exactly over the top of your image Text Box. Use the blue guides.
    From the Pages edit menu, Select All. From the Pages Arrange menu, choose Group.
    Drag the Text Box group where you want it in your document body. Text will flow around it if you used my setting in the Wrap inspector.
    Lastly, with the Text Box group selected, disable “Make all Hyperlinks inactive” in the Link Inspector. You now effectively have a text map overlaying your image and the mouse pointer changes to a hand. The link is now active. Exporting your Pages document to PDF preserves the hyperlinked image effect in both Preview and Acrobat Reader.

    Hi,
    CSS is interpreted by your browser, so server cache seems unlikely in htis case. There is however some hierarchy in CSS, so parts of the APEX CSS, theme CSS or page CSS might overwright or block yours.
    Does changing the CSS on runtime affect your page? Eg, run the following in your browser console and see if your page turns black: $('#uBodyContainer').css("background-color","black")
    Also try moving up your css in the hierarchy labeling it as important:
    div#uBodyContainer {
      background-color:#000000 !important;

  • Use of IF inside a Fix block

    Hi,
    I am having issues with use of IF inside a FIX ... END FIX block. I am trying to check for the value of a substitution variable inside a calculation script. Based on the value of the Subst Variable, statements inside the IF block should get executed.
    CALC Script 1 :
    FIX(x,y,z,"Final","Local",&SubstVariable1,&SubstVariable2)
    IF(&SubstVariable3="Yes")
    DataExport
    ENDIF;
    END FIX;
    CALC Script 1 above gives the warning message as "CALC command [IF] can only be used within a calc member block"
    Therefore I modified it as below
    CALC Script 2 :
    FIX(x,y,z,"Final",&SubstVariable1,&SubstVariable2)
    Local
    IF(&SubstVariable3="Yes")
    DataExport
    ENDIF;
    END FIX;
    This gives the error message as Error Parsing formula for Local, [(] without [)]
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You are still missing something after the DataExport:
    From the Tech Ref:
    For a text output file:
    DATAEXPORT "File" "delimiter" "fileName" "missingChar"
    For a binary output file:
    DATAEXPORT "Binfile" "fileName"
    For direct export to a relational database using ODBC:
    DATAEXPORT "DSN" "dsnName" "tableName" "userName" "password"
    Also, you need to set your DataExport options.
    SET DATAEXPORTOPTIONS
    DataExportLevel ALL | LEVEL0 | INPUT;
    DataExportDynamicCalc ON | OFF;
    DataExportDecimal n;
    DataExportPrecision n;
    DataExportColFormat ON | OFF;
    DataExportColHeader dimensionName;
    DataExportDimHeader ON | OFF;
    DataExportRelationalFile ON | OFF;
    DataExportOverwriteFile ON | OFF;
    DataExportDryRun ON | OFF;
    Also, I am assuming that you are running 9.3.1 or higher as this is when the dataexport option became available.
    Good luck

  • Editing swfobject.js code so hyperlinks inside the flash widget open in a new window

    0down votefavorite
    I have a flash calendar widget (code shown directly below) and I do not have access to anything other than the compiled .swf file (no access to .fla).
    The widget contains some hyperlinks to other websites, these links are dynamic and changes based on a number of things.
    There is also a corresponding swfobject.js file that is used to add functionality to the flash widget. The swfobject.js code is shown further down this post.
    Currently, the way the code is now, when I click any of the hyperlinks that are available to me in the widget, the destination website that hyperlink takes me to opens in THE SAME PAGE as the flash widget which is a big problem.
    I need to edit the code below so that any hyperlinks that are clicked inside of the flash widget open in a brand new browser window and do not take the user away from the original widget other than opening a new page with new content.
    Because the hyperlinks that are available are always changing, the swfobject code below uses some functions and parameters.
    I am hoping you can show me exactly what code I must insert, and exactly where I must insert it, in order to alter the behavior that happens so that when a user clicks one of the hyperlinks inside the flash widget, so that the content at the other end of the hyperlink opens in a new window, instead of opening in the same window.
    See code below.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide

    In that case, I will have no choice but to decompile the .swf to get the .fla because the original .fla is un-obtainable. Unless there is a way to edit the contents of the .swf file without decompiling it.
    I can see the code inside via various decompile tools and it seems that I would need to add the equivalent of <src target=_blank> to some of the lines I have shown below.
    obj_xml.load(appurl + "loadconfig.aspx?calendarid=" + calendarid);  -- need to edit this so it opens in a new window using something similar to target = _blank
    dest_page = appurl + "default.aspx"; -- need to edit this so it opens in a new window using something similar to target = _blank
    I know a lot of decompile tools can get you the code and the .fla but once you edit and re-compile and attempt to replace the original with the new & updated file, the decompiler did not necessarily generate the properly formatted flash pro project file, so compiling it back into an operational .swf often ends in failure.
    Do you know or can you recommend a tool that has a very good track record of re-compiling the decompiled modified.fla into a workable and usable .swf?

  • Is it possible to have multiple hyperlinks inside an interactive button?

    For example I have 5 buttons on a page.
    Each button when clicked reveals a three column text chart.
    In each of the columns there is a different hyperlink.
    It appears that when I convert that chart to a button, so it can be hidden and revealed it loses the text hyperlinks inside the columns.
    Is there a way around this?

  • Can I change a size of basic text block?

    I wonder can I do smth with a size of any text block that Indesign creates if I, for example, copy-paste some text into the page?
    I repeat, I don't create any text block, just make the paste command. Then, some text block will be created with my text inside.
    Usually this text block is too big especially if I paste just 1-2 words. Right for now, such block equal almost 53 mm squared.
    Can I change it? The width is not that important but the height of such block causes some obstacles during the work.

    hm..
    so this way it is might be also auto-size:height only used, and even to set some minimum height to avoid a block getting too flattened.
    though, autosize options are good for some specific projects, and not really for daily use..

  • Problem with copying and pasting text blocks in Fireworks CS5

    Until recently when I copied and pasted a text block in Fireworks CS5, the block would retain all formatting applied to the copied text block, font, size, color, etc. Now, the pasted block reverts to some default setting. Oddly, if I copy multiple text blocks, the formatting is retained as expected, but not if I copy a single text block. I cannot find a preference that affects this, and I cannot figure out what might have changed. The current behaviour is definitely not desired, and is dramatically affecting my efficiency. Anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.

    Sure, thanks for replying so quickly. My workflow is simple. My problem is limited to copying and pasting within Fireworks. I typically select an entire block with the main selection arrow but I sometimes use this one too depending on the context. I usually just use the keyboard CTRL-C then CTRL-V to paste. Previously (and I have been using FW for years, it's always been the same) it would paste an identical text block directly over the top of the copied one, and it looked exactly the same, same font, same color, etc. Now, it pastes a new block in the center of the document and all the formatting has reverted to what I guess is the default, in this case Myriad Pro 12pt. The behavior is the same no matter which arrow I use to select the text block. I tried Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste, the effect was the same. The Duplicate function seems to work as desired, but I had never noticed or tried that command before reading your post. Using the keyboard to copy/paste is such an ingrained habit I'd much prefer to continue using it as I always have instead of trying to retrain myself. (I'm old, retraining is hard!)
    (Selected block)
    (pasted block)
    Most often I copy and paste directly on the canvas, but occasionally will do it within the layers panel. Both now have the same undesired effect. I also tried creating a new document to see if it was a corruption in my current file, but the issue persisted to the new document as well.
    Thanks.

  • How do I use page numbering and a text block in a footer in Word with the Report Generation Toolkit?

    I am creating a Word document with the Report Generation Toolkit, and LabVIEW 8.2.1. In the report I am using a template that has page numbering enabled in the center. When I try to add a text block to the left side footer, it eliminates the page numbering and adds my text on the left side. I found "Set Report Footer Text" and "Word Set Page Numbering" vi's that may be the clue to this. When I use these two vi's I either get Page 1 of 456789-001 on the left side, or if I reverse the order I get only 456789-001(text) in the left side with nothing in the center. What I would like to achieve is 456789-001(text) on the left footer, and Page 1 of 2 in the center. Is this possible and if it is, then how can I do it?

    Hi SciManStev,
    I have attached a vi where you can see how they can be made to work together. You have to design it such that one follows the other. If you don't design it that way, it results in a race condition and only one of them get executed.

  • How do I add multiple text block records from text file?

    The data manager documentation (page 151) for MDM 5.5 SP3 indicates that one or more new text blocks can be added to the Text Blocks object table from files. It is noted that the files must be plain text files.
    I use notepad and create a text file with two lines as follows:
    Test 1
    Test 2
    When I try to add the text blocks following documentation mentioned above, it only adds one record for the Data Group I have chosen and the record contains the entry "Test 1" from the first line in the text file.
    How can I add multiple records to the data group from a file?

    From my testing it appears that you need to have one text file per text block record in Data Manager.
    I wrote VBA macro to so that I could input my text blocks into an Excel spreadsheet and then the macro will take the contents of each cell in a highlighted column and create one text file per cell.
    Then using Data manager, I can select all of the text files at once and it will import them, creating one record per text file.
