Automatic Reschedule of Background Jobs

Dear Experts,
I have a background job which runs on daily basis and does some FTP operations.
Now whenever it fails i need to reschedule that background job again automatically.
How should i do this rescheduling task automatically?
Can anyone please help me out with this?
Thanks,
Praveen

Hi Thomas,
My background program does some FTP operations on a network drive.
Sometimes, that network drive is down and the program fails to connect there.,that network down time is not fixed.
So i want the background job to be run again automatically when ever it fails.
I dont have to make any changes in my report, i just need to re run that program again after some time.
Can you please suggest me how to handle this issue?
Thanks,
Praveen

  • Job automatically reschedules

Why does my job always reschedule at runtime?
I have a job submitted from a procedure called from a table insert trigger where the insert statement is generated from Websphere. The job is scheduled to run 1 minute from submission. When the time arrives, the job appears to be resubmitted with a run time 10 minutes in the future. This continues to happen whenever execution time arrives.
If I submit the job manually, it runs at the scheduled execution time, so it is not a SNP process problem. Could there be some issue with Websphere keeping some sort of blocking lock which stops the job from being executable?

    Hello,
My understanding is automatically cancelling the background job is not possible. That will beat the very purpose of the background processing

  • Need to know how to find out the Variant associated with a background job

    Hello,
Plz help me in finding out how to find the variant associated with a background job. I need to know which variant does the program picks up when it runs the scheduled background job. There are so many variants that exist. How do I figure out which one is being picked up by the program. When I go and see into the job that are already finished it shows the parameter as "&00000000645354" which I do not understand what it corresponds to. I was expecting a variant name instead of this number in the parameter field. Is there a way I can find out the name of teh variant the program is using automatically in the background job ??
    Thanks in anticipation

Yes it is possible which is variant, input fields are choosen
    - go to SM37 and locate the background job which was processed using proper selection criteria
    - select the Job and click on 'Step' button availabe in the screen
    - the new screen is 'step list overview'. now, place the cursor on selected variant avaialble on the screen, then from Menu >> Goto>> variant
which gives the list of input values.
    hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Scheduled TMS_ # TMS_TP_IMPORT  background jobs fail with error code 0232

Is anyone else having the problem we've just encountered since upgrading to ECC 6.0 and CRM 2007, where once setting up the automatic import ALL background jobs, to have all of the Transport Change Requests imported into the Q-Prod testing systems automatically, fail after several successful runs?
After setting up the automatic import background job to run every 15 minutes, the first few run successfully (importing any transports as it should), then the transports stop being imported.
The background jobs continue to run, but have the following in the job log overviews CRM 2007 - "Could not start transport control program tp". R\3 ECC 6.0 - "Transport control program tp ended with error code 0232".
Only by deleting the background job and recreating it (or manually importing) from STMS, can the transports continue to be imported. Although I have noticed that there are multiple tp.exe processes started, which need to be deleted before the STMS and TMS Background jobs work again.
    The:
       DB is SQL Server 2005
       disp+work is at version 7000.150.14.48855
       R3Trans is at version 7000.149.14.47907
       tp is at version 7000.144.14.39594
Any suggestions on how to cure this for good?

    Thanks All
    FYI
SAP first suggested the following notes: 19466, 1150361, and to add a Startup profile parameter rfc/use_gwstart = 1. Which was only partially successful.
I guess it had more to do with RFC processes hanging than it did with the tp, which was fixed in a later kernel patch level.
I've upgraded the kernel to the latest (70000.181.0.0) and my problem was fixed.

  • Automatic Mail not getting generated through background job

    Hi Experts,
We have set up a job variant with spool recipients. We are getting the automatic mail if the job is getting finished successfully. But we are not getting the automatic mail if the job is in cancelled status. Earlier we used to get the mail even if the job is in cancelled status. We are not sure if there is any setting which would restrict the automatic mail based on the job status.
Appreciate your help in this regard.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ranjani.

    Hi,
Just for a work around, try checking the SAP user inbox for the user who has scheduled the background job.
I don't there  is any seperate configuration in Spool List Recipient for the canceled jobs. We need to confirm that the email ids provided in the Spool List recipient are correct and the background job creates a spool request even if it is canceled.
Also if possible try deleting the existing background job and create a new background job with the same parameters and valid email id's maintained in the Spool List recipient.
    OR
Without deleting the existing background job, parallely create a new background job with the same parameters and valid email id's maintained in the Spool List recipient. If it works then delete the old background job.
    Thanks

    Hi,
If your batch job is creating a file in SAP and sending it to another system. These are some things you could do, if you have tools and resources available.
    1) When the job ( SAP program ) runs to create the file, ensure there is no file already existing in the landing zone ( AL11), if it does then do not over write, just throw an error, because the last file created did not leave the landing zone, because the other system or middle were did not pick it up. Usually when the middleware or third party system picks up your file from the landing zone, it may delete the file, so next time fresh file can be picked up. It is always good to have date and time stamp on the file that you create on the landing zone, so we could uniquely track which files were creates, when it was created and transmitted.
    2) Lets say your job created the file in the landing zone, the FTP program or what ever service or tool that you use to pick the file, if it is running as per design, then it should pick it up, if not you need to see why it is not running, usually the FTP softwars like GIS will throw an error if no file is found, and we could track them.
I am sure there are many other ways to handle if the file really left the landing zone or not. Something to think about. thanks

  • Report layout - ME2N - Automatic background job

    HI all
We are using the above report for Pending PO-RElease ie., dynamic selection - release indicator "B"  thru automatic background programme schedueld thru SM36 (after setting the variant) for the relevant/concerned users.
The issue is, the report layout be default standard sap layout is taking, actually i have saved layout as PO no & date, but always, whenever background job is run, default sap report is taken in HTML.
request kindly help how i can ensure my our report layout for backgrounds jobs thru ME2N or is there any other report which can give the pending PO-Release report for my requirement.
    thanks in advance
    regards
    srihari

I am doing same as suggested by you for all other reports, but i am not successful with ME2N, because after having your own default layout, but for background it is default taking sap report. even i have tried to delete the sap - std report format but not allowed.
if any one knows how to change the sap-default std report layout then also it's okay for us, as default report as 15 columns whereas we need only max 5 columns in report layout
    thanx in advance
    regards

  • Automatic workflow customizing :Schedule background job for condition evalu

    Hai,
I have one problem in automatic customizing SWU3(Maintain runtime environment)-Schedule background job for condition evaluation.
How to turn  green tick from red cross? All other steps are OK in SWU3 except this problem.
    Please give me some tips.
    -Jaheer
_______Thanks in terms of BIG points_______________________

    Hi Jaheer
If the only red cross is next to the condition evaluation job, I suppose you could just schedule up the job automatically in SM36. Just be sure that the RFC Destination is correctly configured.
The program that you need to schedule is <b>RSWWCOND</b>. The SAP default is to call the job SWWCOND and schedule it to run every 30min. That should get rid of the red cross. And if not, you might find along the way why the Auto-Customising didn't work.
    Cheers

How you are saying that no Deliveries were created ?
First of all make sure that they are sales orders due for delivery data on the day you are creating.
-> Run VF04 in foreground with the variant that you used in Background and check whether there is any orders due for delivery or not?
Make sure you have proper data.
    Hope you should get it.

  • Automatic Background Jobs Monitoring

    Hi,
I'd like to ask how to setup an alert to the background job if it fails to run.  How is it done in K1P box?
What I'd like to happen is to have a message sent out to the jobs owner it encountered any problems.  I work in the Support Team and I'd like my team be informed automatically (via email or anything) without contacting the K1P box Owner.
Hope someone can help me here.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
You can create a query using SQ1.  Tables you need are  /SAPAPO/LISMAP and /SAPAPO/LISLOG. The query can help you to sort or order the jobs based on the status message type and many other parameters.

  • Background job not automatically poopulating Dependant Demand

    Hi Users,
We've recently set up a POS & PA using the DP-BOM selection and characteristics, manually created PPM's and generated CVC's using the BOMS. All of this is set up fine in our SCM 7.0.
The background job has created the forecasts for the ouptput products but NOT the input product.
Now if I call up the parent material, and then choose to show the input products the dependant demand is generated. If I now return to the material with the dependant demand, it now shows the demand from the parent.
Or, if the forecast is genereated interactively, then the dependant demand is poopulated.
Is there an automated method to populate the dependant demand when using background jobs? I would like to think that we don't have to query every sales BOM parent in DP and drill into the input products to load the dependant demand?
Please let me know if there is an easier way to do this as part of the background processing.
    Thanks
    Edited by: Paul_111 on Mar 31, 2011 4:20 PM

    Hi Andand,
Thanks for your reply and sorry if my post is confusing.
As far as the PPM with imputs A & B, output C - I have this relationship working and calcuclating demand in DP no problems.
If I now add a new PPM combination inpput X, Y and output Z. Create the BOM CVC and TSO so its all set to go. Add to selection profiles and background jobs.
Now, if I run the background job to create the forecast and this runs successfully. Now I check my products.
Z has the forecast generated, X & Z have no dependant demand showing.
The only way I've found that pushes the demand to X & Z is:
    - open product Z in demand planning and then choose the option to show input products from the header
OR - from demand planning, select the univariate forecast to run interactively.
    My issue:
The background job (if run alone) does not push the forecast on Z to X & Y.
And if I show the input products or create forecast (as bove) the dependat demand is shown on X & Y.
This is going to be a slow process if we have to do this everytime we run the backgound job.
What am I missing when running the background job?
