Automatic trapping of NaNs?
Infinites would be nice too.
I badly need a way to force the JVM to automatically throw an Exception with the first occurence of a numerical error. Yes, debugging is possible by throwing in if(X!=X) type statements, but the time expended to locate problems is enormous in a large program. I guess there are some other alternatives: 1) Stop making programming errors. 2) Run a Java to C++ converter and then turn on NaN trapping in the C++ loader, ... How about a Java option?
Thanks.
How about 200,000 lines of code and >1 hour for a
test case. You can't have a 200,000 line method so presumably you have more than one method.
Each method can have a NAN check at the end.
Adding in a few strategic NaN checks can
make this >2 hours for a test case. Then 1 or more of the following is true...
- The checks are creationg 1000s/10000s of exceptions (because you are producing too many NANs anyways.)
- It isn't a "simple" check that is being added.
- Something is really wrong with the code.
We are very good
at putting in NaN checks, but the lack of an
automatic NaN trapping capability has still set the
overall project back several months.Java has always been that way. So that suggests the architecture/design was flawed from the beginning (because either the wrong language was choosen or the attributes of the language were ignored.)
Actually I believe C++ behaves that way as well. (At least I have used compilers that did that.)
You can of course modify the JVM. If might take months however to figure out where to modify it. And if you distribute the code you will need a contract with Sun.

Re:SNMP Trap in 10.3
Hello
We are migrating Applications for 8.1 to 10.3
So we wanted to set SNMP Traps in the 10.3 at the domain Level
We had setup the traps in 10.3 and restarted but we are not able to recevie any traps
Please let me know if you have any suggestions
Regards
-nar-When you start the managed server, you should see a message such as the following:

Here's an extract of the SNMP config, showing the "Server SNMP Agents" and a single String Monitor for the server status

Need help with Trapping on Illustrator CS3
Hello,
I'm a graphic design student taking a class on digital pre-publishing, I'm having a difficult time with some trapping assignments.I'm supposed to do manual and automatic trapping using spot and manual colors, knocking away CMY colors by three points on a keepaway but I have no idea what I'm doing. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it very much. My email address is [email protected] I can also be contacted through Yahoo IM.
Thanks,

Exporting a pdf in indesign CS5 interactive portfolio, the buttons dont work?
interactive PDF using Indesign, Export problems
im working on an interactive portfolio, its got 6 pages and four of them have buttons which scroll through alternative images which relate to that page. All very simple stuff. as far as im aware its all set up properly and in preview its working like a dream. As soon as i export > adobe pdf (interactive) > i tick buttons and media Include All but when i open the finished pdf i wont let me use the buttons. they are acknowledged by the fact that when i hoover over them there is a tin black box that apears but the actual button its self wont work.
if anyone knows how to export such a file so i can share with people as an interactive portfolio i would be most grateful. thanxOr, better than that, export the PDF from InDesign as PDF/X-4!
By default, Acrobat and Reader use overprint preview when displaying PDF/X-4 files. Plus you have the benefit of full color management and not having transparency ruined by premature flattening.
One other note. Other than for the fairly common practice of overprinting black text over colors to avoid halo effects due to registration, one should be exceptionally careful in using overprint. Trapping, the other good, justifiable use for overprint is really best performed by the RIP. Most modern RIPs provide for automatic trapping. Overprint should absolutely not be used as a “poor man's transparency,” especially in conjuction with spot colors. With the advent of real transparency in the Adobe imaging model and hence in Illustrator, InDesign, and PDF, there is no good reason to use overprint hacks anymore to simulate transparency.

Exporting a pdf from InDesign-need to access Overprint
I am exporting an InDesign CS5.5 Document with mixed ink and Illustrator eps with pantone overprints.
When I export it into PDF the native mixed ink in InDesign represent accurately.
However the Illustrator eps preview as solid gray @ 70%. This is the overprint layer onto of Pantone 293.
When I turn on Print preview in pdf it is accurate.
My question is:
In the export to pdf palette under the output header, there is a check box 'simulate overprint'.
I've tried several different variations, but cannot get that check box to turn on.
Unlease I make an X-1a file the overprint for the Illustrator eps does not preview without turning on the output preview palette in Acrobat.
And lets face it, to the client, that is rocket science.
How can I access the 'Simulate Overrpint' option when I am exporting the document.
Thanks,

Function being called multiple times
Hi,
In my custom workflow, when the user approves a notification, it goes to the next function in the workflow. I have used insert command in that function to insert data into a custom table. I see that the data is inserted 2 times with different values.
I was wondering how the insert statement is called 2 times when it was supposed to do only once?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.2 Scenarios that can occur:
1) Check if you have a post notification function which is also doing an insert into the custom table.
2) Make sure that the procedure being called by your function activity have proper if conditions for funcmode. Pasting the extract from Workflow Developer Guide:
Standard API for PL/SQL Procedures Called by Function Activities
All PL/SQL stored procedures that are called by function or notification activities in an Oracle Workflow process should follow this standard API format so that the Workflow Engine can properly execute the activity.
Important: The Workflow Engine traps errors produced by function activities by setting a savepoint before each function activity. If an activity produces an unhandled exception, the engine performs a rollback to the savepoint, and sets the activity to the ERROR status. For this reason, you should never commit within the PL/SQL procedure of a function activity. The Workflow Engine never issues a commit as it is the responsibility of the calling application to commit.
For environments such as database triggers or distributed transactions that do not allow savepoints, the Workflow Engine automatically traps "Savepoint not allowed" errors and defers the execution of the activity to the background engine.
Oracle Workflow components that continue workflow processing asynchronously, such as background engines and the Notification System, do issue commits when appropriate on behalf of the calling application.
The example in this section is numbered with the notation (1) for easy referencing. The numbers themselves are not part of the procedure.

Hello,
When performing settings on JMS connection factory, one can set (check the "Load Balancing Enabled" option in the Configuration tab, Load Balance sub tab).
In the help documentation, we can read:
Specifies whether non-anonymous producers created through a connection factory are load balanced within a distributed destination on a per-call basis.
*If enabled, the associated message producers are load balanced on every send() or publish() .+
I have performed some tests and I don't see the expected behaviour that is to say load-balancing for each send or publish call.
So first what does mean "non-anonymous producers" ? Does that mean that we have to create JMS connection with username/password arguments ? If yes, I have used the same credentials than the ones used for the admin console and again I don't see load-balancing on physical queues belonging to one distributed queue !
Could you give, please, me advice on how to get the load-balancing working per send or publish call ?

Product Management :
Calling wf_event.raise from an after insert row trigger produces ORA-04092. This is exactly opposite from the supposed documented behavior.
Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter. Needless to say, raising business events from fundamental database activities like inserting & updating rows is critically important.
Version : 2.6.2 as distributed with 9iAS 9.0.2.0.1 on Win2K
Error message :
ORA-04092: cannot ROLLBACK in a trigger
ORA-06512: at "OWF_MGR.WF_EVENT", line 830
ORA-04092: cannot SET SAVEPOINT in a trigger
ORA-06512: at "OWF_MGR.WF_EVENT", line 451
ORA-06512: at "CASEINT.CG$AIR_FOLDERS", line 7
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'CASEINT.CG$AIR_FOLDERS'
From the Oracle Workflow Guide :
"For environments such as database triggers or distributed
transactions that do not allow savepoints, the Workflow Engine
automatically traps Savepoint not allowed errors and defers
the execution of the activity to the background engine."The Business Event System and Workflow Engine are two different components, hence the documentation is actually
correct as it refers to the 'Workflow Engine' specifically.
A fix is currently being developed for the problem that you are encountering and will be included in Workflow Standalone
Version 2.6.3 (iAS 9.0.4).
There is also a Bug raised for this issue in Workflow 2.6.2 - Bug 2427354 - if you wish to escalate this then please contact
Oracle Support to raise a TAR against this Bug.
As a workaround in the meantime you could launch a deferred workflow process that raises the required event. -
Changing the cursor position in an input text field and Removing leading numeric zeros
Flash8 - AS2
It's good to be back after all these years and thanks for the faithfull folks like kglad, Ned Murphy, Rothrock and all the others who give so much of themselves to make this forum a success!
My Problem:
I have an input text field that is named in the properties box as 'numberOfKids'.
When the program is executed, and a delete or backspace is pressed the input textfield goes blank
and any calculations that use 'numberOfKids' shows NaN.
I have trapped the NaN and undefined so that a numeric 0 shows up instead of a blank.
There are two problems:
First problem:
The cursor is to the left of the zero, so the first number inputted by the user is 10x larger than what they want. 0 becomes 10.
Question: How do I get the cursor to move to the right of the 0?
Second Problem:
When I manually move the cursor to the right of the 0 and input a number, say 4, it shows up as 04.
Question 2: How do I delete the leading numeric zero in the input textfield?
Thanks for the help.
Here's the code I am using:
calculateChildWeight = function () {
if (isNaN(numberOfKids)) {
numberOfKids = 0;
if ((numberOfKids) == undefined) {
numberOfKids = 0;
if (numberOfKids>=0 && numberOfKids<=137) {
numberOfKids = numberOfKids;
} else {
numberOfKids = 0;
if (isNaN(adjustedChildWeight)) {
adjustedChildWeight = 0;
if ((adjustedChildWeight)=undefined) {
adjustedChildWeight = 0;
adjustedChildWeight = Number(numberOfKids*(-100));
//numberOfKids.setSelection(numberOfKids.length, numberOfKids.length);
//if (numberOfKids.length=2 && numberOfKids<10) {
// remove the first character or leading zero
// numberOfKids = numberOfKids;Thanks Rothrock for being so patient.
I'm lost!
I go back to a brand new flash file to try and implement the textfields as a stand alone test document. I have lost the concept I think.
I created on the stage of a blank .fla file 4 text fields, 2 input and 2 dynamic. I gave them an instance name in the properties box. I use this instance name.text to find the value of the field. I use the parseInt to put that value into a numeric variable for calculation. The results are put to the appropriate textfield.
All seems to work except one of my input text fields. I use the value of this field to calculate:
revisedValue = parseInt(numberOfKids.text);
revisedValue = revisedValue*(-100);
The problem now is that if the numberic '2' is inputted into numberOfKids, numberOfKids.text shows up as 200 and a trace shows up as '2NaN'.
Flash is logical and consistant, I must conform to it but I'm in the dark.
(( Concerning the forum: If I click on helpful, which your posts have been in directing me, does that blank out the possibility of selecting the correct answer in the future???)) -
I have a access 2013 database. I am trying to automate generation of 3K+ pdf reports. I have the following code. It was working in a previous iteration of the code pictured here, but due to some "illegal" characters, was canceling
the outputTo command lines due to those characters. i.e. mostly / chars. So, I wanted to trap those errors and write them to a table, I added the on error statement. It works for the first record with an illegal character, but second time
around it cancels the outputTo command. What am I doing wrong?
Private Sub OutputAll_Click()
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acFirst
Dim V_Counter
V_Counter = 1
Me.Counter = V_Counter
Do While V_Counter <= 20
On Error GoTo FirstReportError
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "NoMeasurementsIPReportForQualityPreview", acFormatPDF, "c:\PDFFiles\" & Me.IPKey
GoTo NoFirstFeportError
FirstReportError:
DoCmd.OpenForm "IPKeyErrorsForm"
Forms!IpKeyErrorsForm.IpKeyError = Me.IPKey
DoCmd.Close acForm, "IPKeyErrorsForm"
DoEvents
GoTo SkipSecondReportDueToError
NoFirstFeportError:
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "NoMeasurementsIPReportForQualityPreviewProductionVersion", acFormatPDF, "c:\PDFFiles\" & Me.IPKey & "_ProductionVersion"
DoEvents
SkipSecondReportDueToError:
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext
V_Counter = V_Counter + 1
Me.Counter = V_Counter
Loop
End Sub
IPKey on this report is:
00-5901-981-02_STYLUS BAR 4/6 MM_100_DHans,
Thanks again for your timely response. It is now sort of working, but I must be missing one important piece. Here is what I have.
Private Sub OutputAll_Click()
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acFirst 'Go to the first record
Dim V_Counter
V_Counter = 1
Me.Counter = V_Counter
Do While V_Counter <= 739
If V_Counter = 739 Then
MsgBox "Counter is 739"
End If
On Error GoTo FirstReportError
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "NoMeasurementsIPReportForQualityPreview", acFormatPDF, "C:\PDFFiles\" & Me.IPKey & ".pdf"
Resume NoFirstReportError
FirstReportError:
DoCmd.OpenForm "IPKeyErrorsForm"
Forms!IpKeyErrorsForm.IpKeyError = Me.IPKey
DoCmd.Close acForm, "IPKeyErrorsForm"
DoEvents
Resume SkipSecondReportDueToError
NoFirstReportError:
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "NoMeasurementsIPReportForQualityPreviewProductionVersion", acFormatPDF, "c:\PDFFiles\" & Me.IPKey & "_ProductionVersion" & ".pdf"
DoEvents
SkipSecondReportDueToError:
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext
V_Counter = V_Counter + 1
Me.Counter = V_Counter
Loop
Done:
End Sub
Only problem is, it does the code after the label "FirstReportError" every time. What am I missing? -
CS5 TEXT TRAPPING options? Knockout? 0.44? Overprint?
Is there no option in InDesign CS5 for the text trapping?
How can I be sure that the text I want to be knockout is in fact set to knockout? and likewise for text to be overprinted?
Am I to assume that everything is automatic and I have to trust InDesign to decide it for me?
I will be taking a project to the printers soon, and I NEED to be sure for myself that all the overprint and knockout text is set correctly, but I can't find the settings anywhere.
Help, guidance and anything else very much appreciated.le_mac_man wrote:
Thanks for your reply.
So, are you saying that every other colour except black will knockout automatically?
In the "attributes" panel the options are:
Overprint Fill
Overprint Stroke
Nonprinting
Overprint Gap
Why is there not an option, "knockout Fill" etc... or is it just given that if the overprint fill box is not ticked then that means it will knockout?
There is no option for Knockout because that's the default condition, and the only possibility if overprint isn't selected. You can't "sort of" or half overprint any more than you can "sort of" print red using black ink. -
Macbook doesn't wake up after automatic sleep
I've got a problem with my macbook. Whenever it goes asleep from not using it ( automatic, I set the time at 15 minutes ) I need to push the power button for like 2 minutes before it wakes up again. I've many friends who have macbooks, whenever they shut the computer down just by pushing the screen down on the keyboard, they simply need to open it again and it wakes up. Mine doesn't unless I close it and open it 2 minutes later. If I let it shut for something like 10 minutes I then need to press the Power button to have it revive. Sometime I need to press it 2 minutes, sometime a bit less.
That was the first part of the problem. At the beginning it didnt disturb me that much so I didn't try to solve the problem. Now the infaction has mutated. Whenever I put it asleep myself or when it goes automatically I can't restart it. I press the power button but whenever it restarts ( still need to push the power button for 2 minutes ) the screen recovers ( can see the recovering bar down ) and when it reaches the 3 last bar it stops, and an message comes on the front saying there is a problem and I need to restart the computer.
It's very nasty, I can't put my computer asleep, and can do nothing about it.
Has anyone encountered the same problem? Or does anyone know what I can do? I still have my warranty. Should I send it to apple?
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi I am Arka Dey. I am using a
Windows 8.1 64-bit single language Dell laptop. Recently I have installed an update to my Windows 8.1 (X-64) operating system from the "Windows Update" available in the "Control Panel" section of my laptop.
But from that very day when I installed the updates, my laptop started behaving weird sometimes.
The problem is while I am using my laptop, a
blue screen suddenly appears and it says, " Your PC has run into a problem and needs to be restarted." Along with it there is
written the following message: " You can later search for this online - Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap (Wdf01000.sys)".
After displaying this for a few seconds in the blue screen mode, my
laptop automatically restarts. This has been happening for sometime for the past few weeks. I do not understand the meaning of the message displayed in the blue screen and nor do I know the reason behind its occurrence. Please help me with
a solution to this irritating problem as I am not a student of computer related sciences and software technologies. Neither am I that tech savvy. So please do help me with a guide or set of instructions to solve this problem of mine. The detailed specifications
of my laptop are given as follows:-

N.B. : If you need more specifications about hardwares then I can send them to you in later messages. Please help me.Hi roberto-
Yes, its a shame. I have also contacted lenovo support hoping that they can sort out this problem. However, first response from them was 'contact your internet service provider since internet connectivity goes down'! :-/ I am hoping I have been able to get through to them now at least about where the problem lies. I wonder if anyone has tried using the laptop with the same broadcom wireless adapter with some other version of OS (linux, windows 7 etc.) and whether they still face the same problem. I haven't tried that yet. If this is just an OS / driver issue I hope someone somewhere is working on a fix! If not, I guess the only other solution would be to get an external USB wifi adapter but that is not something one would want to do when you buy a brand new Lenovo laptop. This was a big let down for me.
