AutomaticKernelDistribution - Need Info ( CI - Solaris, DI - Windows)

Hi,
Our Central and DB Instance runs on Solaris / Oracle.
We are planning to install one more Application Server. ( Windows / Oracle ).
I heard that it is required to match the Kernel Patches using Automatic Kernel Distribution.
Could you please explain how should we achieve this Automatic Kernel Distribution so that the Kernel Patches of Central Instance and Dialog Instance can be matched.
Basic Information you may require:
●ERP6.0 DB Instance ( PRD)
   OS : solaris 10
DB : oracle 10.2.0.2
H/W: PRIMEPOWER650
 ●ERP6.0 Application Server ( PRD )

   OS : Windows2003 sv
H/W: RX200 S3
x64
   MEM: 8GB
Thanks in anticipation
Best Regards
Paguras

Hello Paguras,
I would recommend that you take a look at the following SAP Note,
680617 INST: Appl.Server in Heterogeneous SAP System Environment
It should answer most of your questions about this type of configuration,

Need info on windows xp pro purchase

A Windows 8.1 Product Key will not work for a Windows XP install.
Please do not read this sentence. Please ignore the previous sentence.
    Hi,
We wont use the Win 8.1 Product Key - We will Purchase new Windows 8.1 License for the fourth PC but install our copy of Win XP on the machine (we have only 3 License that we used for the older 3 machines).
Carey's reply only speaks to the technical aspects of installing a dual boot environment.  It says nothing about licensing which is what I think you are asking about.  I do not believe that you can purchase a Windows 8.1 License and apply it to a
Windows XP install.  You need to enter in the Product Key when the OS is installed and I seriously doubt that the XP install will accept the 8.1 Key.  If you don't have a 4th key for XP you won't be able to have a legal copy installed.

  • How to find out the info regarding Solaris, server hang or shutdown.

    Hi
As I am handling the Solaris 9 Server remotely.
As in last week the server has stopped to respond suddenly, we have tried to ping, ssh which was not working. As ultimately we have asked the Data Centre Team to hard reboot the same, to resolve the issue.
In the same ref I would like to know how we come to know the reason, what caused to reboot the same, i.e . any log file, etc..
I have check /var/adm/messages, but not found any detail for the same.
    Thanks

    No core files?
    No hope for an answer.
As you learned in the other Internet forum.
    http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/solaris-opensolaris-20/how-to-find-out-the-info-regarding-solaris-server-hang-or-shutdown.-621500/
    To get such corefiles analyzed,
you would need to use your service contract and log a support case with Sun.
They have the special software tools to do that.

  • Migration from sun/solaris to windows

While performing a migration of SAP from solaris to windows OS what are the implications, issues and things to keep in mind. Also which database would give the best performance (Oracle or MS SQL) and what are the specific requirements if latest release of MS SQL is to be used the database.

    > That is fine but I rather need to know that if the database is changed from Oracle10.2  to MS SQL 2000 then what can be the implications and what will be the additional hardware requirements, if the current SAP configuration is 4.6D and it is migrated to 32 bit windows server 2003.
Why do you plan to use the almost 10 year old SQL Server 2000? It's like going back to Oracle 7.x times! SQL Server 2005 would be the way to go.
    > Whether shifting to MS SQL server 2000 would give an added advantage?
    Advantage for whom?
    - Oracle is expensive, the licenses and the annual maintenance is higher compared to SQL Server
    - Oracle is complex, SQL Server is much easier to maintain
    - Windows adds an additional risk (Virus, Malware) which is has to be dealt with separately (Firewalls, Virusscanners etc.) which in turn is additional work and hence costs additional money
    - Windows is not always a deterministic operating system ("it works again after reboot, nobody knows why")
    > My job is to give the pros cons of both configurations.
I would do some research what both combinations are able to do, if you need certain Oracle features that are not available on SQL Server, if you developers and administrators are more convenient with Oracle, if you have specific requirements about performance that can't be fullfilled with SQL server etc.
All that are things you have to evaluate and check. Since we don't know how you use the system and what you do with it we can't tell you what's "best" for your environment.

  • Two questions:  how do Skype and iChat compare for group video?  quality, reliability, cost, etc are important.  2) Is my MobileMe ID what I need to use in the window in making an iChat buddy?  It only says AIM above the window, online tutorial differs.

Two questions:  1) How do Skype and iChat compare for group video?  Quality, reliability, cost, etc are important.  2) Is my MobileMe ID what I need to input in the window in making an iChat buddy?  It only says AIM above the window, online tutorial differs, saying MobileMe, AIM, GoogleTalk (Jabber) all work. Thnx

    Hi,
IChat uses better Video Compression than Skype does.
On a top flight Mac you can send a 640 X 480 pixel frame up to 30 frames a sec.
    Skype can't match this.
iChat in Video is Peer to Peer. (you can actually Log out of the Buddy list)
Skype seems to borrow something from everyone's bandwidth to make connections.
What do you mean by Business account Tracking ?
iChat Adds (or can add) the First Name, Last Name of your Buddies and create an Address Book Entry
Whether you mark those cards connected with a  company is up to you.
(I have heard of issues with earlier version of iChat and the Address Book that "saw" the Company Name as the part of the Name and linking several Screen Names to the one name
Audio on a Mac using Skype tend to be the same as the streaming needs are less.
However you have to rely on any PCs audio abilities from PCs which may not be to the same standard.
Mac to PCs in iChat and AIM can be difficult though.  (It should work but it rarely as simple as Plug and go)
Skype may suit your needs better on ocassions.

Actually ,I need to download some patches for Solaris Sparc 10u10 its very urgent .Pls help me
    Thanks in advance.

A CSI is a "Customer Support Identifier" so you need a support contract to get one, yes.
You need to talk to your local sales rep to buy it, or, right on the support front page before you log in is a link to [url http://www.oracle.com/support/contact.html]Contact Support

  • Can solaris run windows?

    Hi,
I have solaris 10 x86 running in my desktop. I need to have windows simultaneously. VMware not helped me at this moment. I heard something like QEMU.
Can anyone help me out on this.
Is there any other tool helps to run windows on solaris desktop?
    Please advice. Urgent!!!
    Appreciate your response.
    Thanks.

You either run Sun's Solaris or you run Microsoft's Windows.
Each of them is an Operating Environment unto itself.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_environment
If you truly need them to be running simultaneously,
I suggest you consider using two computers.
You might find that to be a lot easier to figure out how to set each of them up.
Some people have chosen to dual-boot Solaris or Windows
from specific and discrete partitions of a hard drive.
(Google search, using keywords "dual-boot solaris")
That still means you run one of them or you run the other one.
Other people just use one hard drive for Windows and
a different hard drive for Solaris, and just tap whatever F-key at bootup to
get their system's menu for boot drives.
Yet other people (such as me) use a removable disk and just boot
to whatever I've placed into the chassis at the moment.
An example of a removable drive tray.

  • Solaris for Windows

    Hello!
I installed Solaris for Windows onto a Windows computer. By default, the computer only starts in Solaris now. Is it possible for me to restart in Windows? If so, can you tell me how to do so?
    Verna

I am having the lines you suggested in my menu.lst file also I can see windows in boot options
But windows is not booting it is giving some error like NTLDR no found.
Could you please suggest me what I need to do..
I have windows in one primary partition(partition 1) and installed solaris in other primary partition(partition 2) now not able to boot to windows XP.If Windows cannot find NTLDR then you may have to re-install it from scratch.
You could try setting the Windows partition as active but that will probably only result in the same error message and then you'll have to set the Solaris partition as active to get that to boot again.
Windows used to have a "Repair boot" or some such option on the boot CD. You might see if that still exists and see if it will fix Windows booting. If it does then you might need to run installgrub from a Solaris CD depending if it overwrites the Master Boot Record or not.

  • I am writing to this forum to ask for help in determining whether Aperture will satisfy my needs when I switch from Windows to MAC in the near future.

I am writing to this forum to ask for help in determining whether Aperture will satisfy my needs when I switch from Windows to MAC in the near future.
I am currently using Photoshop Elements 8 on Windows 7.  After several years of use, I am self taught and adequately proficient for an amateur.  What I didn't realize (until I started researching my upcoming migration on the Internet) is that I actually use PE8 for two functions: digital asset management and digital editing.
Regarding Digital Asset Management: My research leads me to understand that PE on MAC does not provide the same level of organizational capability that I am used to having on Windows, instead providing Adobe's Bridge which does not look very robust.  Furthermore, iPhoto, which come on MAC will not support the hierarchical keyword tagging that I require to organize my library of photos. The two SW applications which I am thinking of switching to are either Aperture or Adobe's Lightroom.  Frankly, I'm thinking that it would be smoother to stay within the Apple product line.
So the remaining question is whether Aperture will support my digital editing needs. The tweaks that I do to my photos are not very complex (no, I do not want to put people's heads on other animal bodies).  But could someone who uses Aperture tell me whether It will allow me to do the following kinds of edits?:
    - If I have a photo where someone's face is too shadowed, can I lighten just that person's face, and leave the rest of the photo as-is?
    - if I have a photo where the background is cluttered (eg, 2 people in front of the Parthenon which is undergoing renovation), can I remove just the construction cranes?
    - Can it splice together several separate photos to give a panoramic?
If, once I get Aperture, I find that it cannot enable the kinds of editing that I do, I would probably get PE11 in the future. However, if people in this forum tell me that Aperture will definitely not  support the kinds of editing which I've described in the previous paragraph, I would prefer to get PE11 with my initial configuration (since someone will be helping me with my migration).
Thanks in advance for your consideration and help!

I am concerned, however,  about using a non-Apple Digital Asset Manager in OSX. I would really like to avoid integration problems. Is using PE11 to import and catalog my digital photos likely to cause conflicts?
Thanks for any insight on this
    Amy,
Not so much conflicts as maybe a little less seamless integration with Apple software and perhaps some third-party software providers in the Mac App Store where some programs build in direct access to iPhoto and Aperture libraries for getting images into those programs easily. Typically, there is a manual command to go to Finder (think Windows Explorer) to browse folders.
One caution to mention however, is that the organization you set-up in PE Organizer is unlikely to transfer over to either iPhoto or Aperture if you decide to change at some point.
The only real stumbling block that I see in your opening comment is that you want hierarchical keywording (Kirby or Léonie can go into the details on keywording limitations as I stay at one level). If you can work with the keywording schemes of either iPhoto or Aperture, then using PE for your external editor (either program supports setting an external editor) would probably be ideal since you know PE well. This is the idea with the Mac App Store version of PE (editor with no organizer).
Note - I use Photoshop CS6 (full version) with Aperture and it works really well. The only downside is that Aperture has to make either a TIFF or PSD file to send to an external editor so that the original file is protected by not sending it to the pixel editor. While TIFF or PSD files protect the integrity of the image information without degrading it, they are typically much larger file sizes on disk than either RAW or JPEG files. Therefore, your library size (iPhoto or Aperture) will balloon quite a bit if you send a lot of files to external editors.
One other possibility for an external editor would be a program called Pixelmator. It is pretty similar to early versions of Photoshop, but built for Mac. Other than the panoramics you want, it will do most pixel editing that PE can do. It is not an organizer, so it is built to go with either iPhoto or Aperture. It does have differences in how you complete certain procedures, so there is bit of a learning curve when you are used to doing it the Adobe way.

  • When I access the address book, how can I copy an address without having to open the person's info in the edit window?

When I find a person's address in the address book and highlight their name in one pane, in the lower pane their info shows up. Unfortunately, highlighting the information I want is disabled. So, I open their info in the edit window, and then click on the appropriate tab.
Getting a single piece of information is not so inconvenient, but when you're putting together lists it is rather onerous to do it that way.
Being able to highlight and copy off the address book panes would be cool. Thanks

In an earlier communication, I had said that this was possible, at least with TB on Windows, but I realize now that it's only possible when a certain add-on is enabled: [https://freeshell.de//~kaosmos/morecols-en.html MoreFunctionsForAddressBook]
    http://chrisramsden.vfast.co.uk/3_How_to_install_Add-ons_in_Thunderbird.html
Install the add-on, and see if you can now highlight info in the Contact Pane by dragging the cursor. Ctrl-C (or the Mac equivalent) to copy the highlighted text to the clipboard.
You may notice that right-clicking an address in the Contact Pane now shows a Copy command, but a bug in the add-on prevents this option from being active.

    " Communication error"
I'm able to see the application name in projects of shared services. Can any one face the same situation , and also I need info regarding how to initialize modules of capx and wfp.

    Hi,
If you did a standard install then it should be running on port 19000 as well.
I take it workspace is working fine on port 19000
    http://<hostname>:19000/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp
^ this will be your workspace servername..
When you run the configuration utility for Reporting and Analysis and the section "Configure Web Server", this is where you set up the Apache Server for workspace, there is an option for "Planning", this should be ticked and the correct planning server entered as it will default to the workspace server.
The apache server redirects requests on the standard workspace port 19000 to the correct server and port, so for planning it redirects to the planning server and port 8300.
    Cheers
    John

Not using Boot Camp, but you should be able to using virtualization software such as Parallels to run Windows concurrently with OS X.
