Automating Command Line FTP.
Hi, Gurus;
I am trying to automate the Command line Ftp for Pulling a file from
a remote Host.
I want to do this interactively.
Steps are: from DOS Prompt.
C> ftp <Host IP>
ftp> user: <username> [ my prgram will wait here to get "user:" reply from machine. then send username]
ftp>Password: <password>
ftp> user logged in
ftp get <filename>
I want to do like this step by step for a specific reason.
It has to be like a COMMUNICATION PROGRAM.
Now how do I code this in java ?
Can somebody help ?
Regards
Gouthaman

Command line FTP - Abort trap: 6
Using command line FTP via Terminal. After establishing an FTP connection, any incorrectly entered command or text exits the application and throws an "Abort trap: 6" error. Correctly entered commands complete correctly. This occurs on two completely separate installations of 10.9. It does not occur if an FTP session is not established.

Command-line shutdown for Xserve RAID?
We have had serveral A/C failures that have left our computer room extremely hot (104 degrees a week ago). We will be getting a temperature sensor that can trigger a shutdown event for the servers. However, I don't know how to issue a remote command (like, ssh host shutdown) to get the RAID to actually power off so it won't cook itself.
Any ideas?I suppose I should have said automated command-line shutdown. Yes, what you say is true. However, I need to have a script that runs when a room over-temp alarm occurs that will shutdown all running machines, in the absence of any people. Also, the network the RAID is on is not connected to the outside world, so I can not see it when I'm not at work.

FTPS (TLS) via command line
I'd like to know if it's possible to initiate an FTP (with TLS) connection from the command line. I know that FTP is available from the command line, but I'm not sure how to enable TLS, if it's even available.
My goal is to write an Automator workflow that securely uploads the content of a chosen folder to an FTP server. I currently use a third-party action called "Upload to FTP", but I don't think it uses the TLS protocol.curl --ftp-ssl
will attempt to connect via encryption - but it will silently revert to a non encrypted connection if it can not.
curl --ftp-ssl-reqd
might be a better choice: it will fail with an error message like
curl: (64) Requested SSL level failed
when it can not connect via SSL -
Command line wasn't executed in ftp adapter
Hi,gurus:
I met a problem when I used "Run operating system command before message processing" in a file to file scenario. After the message was processed successfully I found the command wasn't executed. However, the command(bat file) could be executed in XI server.
The value of the parameter "command line" is "c:\data\copyResult.bat %F %f".I want to use the bat file to delete the archived file after the message is processed successfully. But now it was not executed. The content of relavant file is below.Any ideas?Any help will be appreciated.
( Also I have referred to michal's blog about error catching, but it didn't work.)
copyResult.bat
ftp -s:copyResult.txt
copyResult.txt
open <ftp_host>
<username>
<password>
cd /archive
delete send.txt
quitHi,
Have you tried to check the execution of BAT file directly on FTP server or may be you are trying with XI server. What are the results for it.
Plesae check the log of each and every step ...in Runtime Worbench in Communication Channel on sender or receiver side.
Thanks

Hello Guys,
I have FTP to FTP scenario where more than 100 files are picked up from sender side.
My requirement is to send a "Done.txt" file into the receiver folder once all the files are successfully processed.
I believe "Command Line After Successful processing" in the FTP channel could help me. But I don't know how to use or write scripts for the same.
Also, the sender party is ready to provide me with the "Done.txt" file but I have to pick this file at the end, after all other resourceful files are successfully processed.
Please let me know if there are any links for the same or how to do this.
I was unable to find it out on SCN(may be I am not writing the proper words for the search).
Thank you!
Regards,
Simran>>>I believe "Command Line After Successful processing" in the FTP channel could help me. But I don't know how to use or write scripts for the same.
The problem with this approach is that the command gets executed for each file
>>>Also, the sender party is ready to provide me with the "Done.txt" file but I have to pick this file at the end, after all other resourceful files are successfully processed
For the Transport Protocol "File Transfer Protocol (FTP)" files are always processed in ascending alphabetical order.
so request your sender system to place this "done.txt" in such a way that it should be last one when you arrange them in ascending order.. something like "ZZZZZZ.txt"??? -
Command line parameters for automator?
I'm trying to setup a cron job to so that every morning at 8 am "New Mail.workflow" will open and run. I'm able to get it to open but I was wondering if there were command line parameters for Automator that could open AND run a workflow file? Ideally I'd like it to close after running, but I'll worry about that later. Thanks in advance.
The preferred way is to save your workflow as an application and then call usr/bin/open on it. If for some reason you must have the workflow run inside of Automator (not self-contained) then you're looking at some quality time with man osascript. As it happens Apple has removed even the need for Cron for most users. A click to File -> Save As Plug-In -> for iCal handles it from start to finish.
Edit: I forgot to mention that Automator has its own simple command line utility for running *.workflow files. Check out man automator -
Automating sql files via a command line prompt
Hi All
I've set up an SQL file that extracts information about students in csv format. This information is then imported into another piece of software that creates students e-mail accounts etc..
The program prompts the user to specify from when they want the data from e.g. list of student details that enrolled after 01-SEP-2002.
The Network Manager has now asked me if there is any way the extraction of the student data and import into the e-mail creation software can be automated. He suggested command line prompts as used in DOS e.g. dir/od *.sql > test where dir gives the directory the od orders the files by date.
The Network Manager wanted the extraction and import procedure run on a regular basis by simply just typing a 'command line'. The extraction would take place on an hourly basis especially during the main enrolment periods
Can anybody help me?
Thanks
JenI work mainly with UNIX, so cannot give you the actual DOS commands, but I would structure the program as below. I assume that you have some way of identifying the last enrollment you extract.
In psuedo code:
Set up any environment variables required
sqlplus -s user/password@enrollment_server @student_extract.sql
-- student_extract.sql would spool to a fixed name file say enrollment.txt
-- after extracting, it would update a single column, single row table with the
-- the identifying field for the last enrollment extracted (this would also
-- be used in the extract query as the lower bound)
Reset any environment variables required to connect to the email server
sqlplus -s user/password@email_server @load_email.sql
-- load_email.sql would read enrollment.txt and do whatever is required
rename enrollment.txt to enrollment.txt.current-date-timeThis could be run out of an automatic scheduler if you have one, or manually from the command line.

Automated Purge functionality using runjob command line prompt?
We are currently running scheduled jobs through a command line interface using various batch scripts. We are calling the runjob command.
My question, is there a Purge command prompt that we could include in these scheduled jobs to automate desired purges? We don't want to use the runopsjob command because this is taking away from our ability to view data in our created results books.
Thanks,
JordanHey Mike,
So let me layout the situation we are currently in. For our end-users, we generate results books showing data quality consistency issues between 2 systems. Those results books may have upwards to 100 tabs that the users will go into and analyze for what exactly is causing the discrepancy. Along with those results books, we populate Dashboards that will give a high-level understanding of what pages in the results books need attention as well as track our improvement overtime to present to upper management.
Our issue is that our storage space isn't sufficient for the large quantity of processes and records being ran and populated in EDQ. Therefore, we want to set up an automated purge schedule that we can use and incorporate with our command line batch scripts where we run the RUNJOB command. This almost seems as if it should be consider an enhancement request to either allow RUNJOB to have an automated purge schedule functionality or allow RUNOPSJOB to populate results books and dashboards.
What are your thoughts around this and what advice would you have moving forward?
Thanks,
Jordan -

Turn off FTP service via command line
We are running a Mt Lion server. The FTP Service quit working properly. Instead of directing users to the FTP folder specified, users are just sent to the root of the OS drive. We attemped to turn off FTP service in the Server.app, but FTP stays running even when Server.app lists it as off.
Is there a way to turn off FTP via the command line? We can't seem to find it. The instructions we found online for 10.7 don't work. We've tried rebooting the server and repairing permissions but the same problem exists. Finally, tracked it down thanks to the good people at CrushFTP http://crushftp.com
Here is the command for anyone else that may be looking.
sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist -

By this I mean, I want to continue having robohelp installed on my machine for my authoring use and ALSO have my same robohelp instance installed on anothe machine in our continuous integration environment so that my help files can be built automatically (command line builds only) as part of our frequent application builds. I hope this makes sense! thank you in advance for your help

Hi,
Am having a requirement in my staging and prod env. to add, install, retract and remove wsp.
In my dev env i used to perform with Visual Studio ,so i didnt face any issues regarding retracting and removing the wsp from solution store.
But in my staging and prod since i dont hav VS installed, i would like to have a automated script[ NOT in POWERSHELL] using stsadm command line tool which adds the solution from a folder [say D:\DeployWSPs in staging and Prod] to the solution
store and installed onto a particular web application [ NOT "All WebApplications"].
and if the wsp already exists , i need to retract it & remove from solution store and add it and install again.
can someone pls help me with the automated script .also if the folder contains multiple WSPs how can i doa for each loop [ iterate through wach ".wsp" file and perform install/...task].
i know stsadm -o adddsolution, deletesolution,m retractsolution etc. But the issue is that customer asked me to do this ina automated fashion. manually entering all these commands is a cumbersome activity.
note: when i used powershell on 2 / 3 occasions, the wsp was retracted successfully, but failed to successfully remove from the
soln store.
so i thought i will depend upon on stsadm again like old version of SP since its supported.
DasI would recommend you to use Power Shell so that you can do the automation easily. You can use
power shell for earlier version of SharePoint as well.
Look why removing the solution is getting failed. May be you are trying to remove before the solution is retracted. Wait for retract and remove the solution. Refer to the following post for more information

Automating Audition - command line?
I'm looking for a way to automate Adobe Audition from the command line. Essentially just opening projects and exporting mp3 files or wav files. I need to be able to dynamically open 100s of projects and save out mp3 files from build scripts.
Batch processes are not a valid solution. What I'm looking for is a way to script the entire process, because I won't always know which projects I'll need or where they are. The goal is to allow our artists to manually edit a project. And when they do, every where that project's output was used can be updated with a push of a button. Not that I know of. Although the developers may know some secrets that we mere mortal users don't.

Can you use command lines to copy files in UNIX to Oracle Apps
Hi! We have installed the oracle apps 11.5.0 to a unix operating system. And we use ftps to upload the rtf and xml files to the unix server. Is there any command lines we can use to copy all the rft and xml files in the server to the real location of where the report files stored without going through the XML Publisher font end through the internet explorer? Thanks for your help!
Hi,
From what you have mentioned, I believe you are writing custom xml pub report
1) Storing all your template and sample xml data file on Unix box by FTPing it. This step is not required as XML publisher picks template from XDO tables (where it is stored in CLOB), unless you are explicitly Coding to use templates from a fixed location like <CUST_TOP>/<xml_templates>
2) As part of XML setup, you need to define the template and datasource using the front end. This causes the Template and XML data (sample) to be stored in XDO tables (as clobs). This step is basically required and unavaoidable. This step can be automated using FNDLOAD tool (not sure).
Hope it helps somewhat.
