Autoscan devices on startup with the Spiceworks Agent

I just had a thought as I am trying to push my way through inventory issues and the downsides to Spiceworks Inventory setup and thought of an idea and wanted to see if anyone else has thought of trying it or maybe have tried it.Currently we are deploying agents to get full inventory information for each of our workstations. One thing that keeps getting me is the fact that it only checks in every so often on a set schedule - which can cause server related slowdowns, etc. While digging through the Agent I thought of something. Startup script that reruns the agent with /faum switch on it to do a "reinstall" which would cause it to call back home when the computer starts up. This would in theory reduce the server load because it would have each device calling home on its own time.Currently we are tracking inventory in Numera TrackIT...

A move to a public cloud often manages to drive down capital expenditures. If it’s a public cloud where you’ll be running applications that you have to size for performance, there are some skills you’ll want to invest in before you make the move – principally:MonitoringSecurity and ComplianceOrchestration & AutomationThe amount of preparation and skill-set building needed prior to moving to the cloud is complex. It is directly proportional to the level to which you’re selecting a cloud/application combination that is pre-designed to work well together vs. a selecting a cloud infrastructure where you will have to do the performance tuning of all resources after you design your application deployment.Seagate’s Cloud Backup Service, for example, falls in the camp of an applicationtuned specifically for our clouds (Seagate, Azure, Managed...

While transferring several files to the G-Raid, the G-Raid device locks up with the following warnings:   "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in (whatever file) can't be read or written (Error code - 36).” NOt sure this is a G-Raid problem, can anyone help?

This is likely a problem with the drive itself. This error indicates unspecified I/O errors with the drive, which can be from a hardware fault, or a formatting issue. If the drive has valuable data on it, then try connecting it to another PC to get the data off, and then try fully partitioning and formatting the drive with Disk Utility. If this corrects the error then you should be able to use the drive again as it was likely a formatting issue, but if the problem continues then it is likely a hardware fault and the best solution is to be safe and replace the drive.

  • Communicating with the TI agent

    Hi,
I am new to the JVMTI world and I seem to be missing something. The examples provided with the JDK are commandline driven with postmortem analysis. My project needs to interact with the agent from the gui but I am not sure how.
My java tool is launching a target virtual machine using the JDI LaunchingConnector. This target vm is launched with a JVMTI agent. The state of the agent needs to change while the target is running (changes are based on the user's input). What is the best way for the java tool to communicate directly with the TI agent running in the target vm?
My first thought was to set up a socket connection between the agent and the tool but is that risky? Is there a better or preferred way?
Any help or pointers to examples would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I am heading in the right direction.
    Thank you,
    Maryann

The original post isn't very clear. It sounds like you are using JDI to launch the target VM, in which case the JDI implementation will manage the connection to the target VM. You also say the target VM is launching a JVM TI agent. In that case, you will need to code the transport yourself.

  • What files and directories are shipped with the Oracle Agent ?

under which directory should this logfile be placed ?

  • DPM failed to communicate with the protection agent on DPM 2010 SERVER because the agent is not responding. (ID 43 Details: Internal error code: 0x8099090E)

    Hi everyone,
Backup jobs for protected members are intermittently failing with the following error on the DPM server:
DPM failed to communicate with the protection agent on <DPM 2010 SERVER> because the agent is not responding. (ID 43 Details: Internal error code: 0x8099090E)
Why does the DPM server failing to see it's own DPM agent cause the backup job for another server to fail? One day a backup will work fine, the next it may fail; and the next back to normal again...
The following error is recorded in the Service Control Manager event log on the DPM server just prior to the above error:
A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the DPMRA service to connect.
    Thank you.
    With regards,
    Rob

    Hello,
I have read these entire postings and see that my problems match most of the above problems.
I believe we have tried all of the ideas in this blog and lots of other ideas from other forums and internet searches.
We have about 80 small databases protected and set at 15 minute incremental and most will work but some fail.  When they fail the most common, but not only error, is something like "DPM
failed to communicate with the protection agent on <DPM 2010 SERVER> because the agent is not responding. (ID 43 Details: Internal error code: 0x8099090E)". The alert is inactivated in the DPM Console, and the backups resume as normal."
Since later jobs are successful I thought all was well.  All was well until I went to restore from incremental backups.  We worked for two days (day and night work) to restore
from a corrupted virtual disk on our SQL Server 2008 R2.  I suspect DPM had something to do with the corrupted virtual disk.  All I know is that we never had this problem until installing DPM.  Here is what we encountered when we went to restore
    from the protection points:
    *  Restore jobs take a minimum of 15 minutes for jobs that are 45 MB or 2 GB.
    *  If you pick a backup from the list of recovery points that is not valid the job runs for 15 minutes and then "Failed".
    *  You cannot rerun the job because SQL Server 2008 has the table being recovered as <tablename> (recovering) and a retry will not work.  Of course time is wasted while waiting
    to see if it worked.
    * Eventually you realize that even after dropping the table in the (recovering) mode in SQL that the restore point must be bad or possibly one of this failed recovery points.
    * So begins the quest to start restoring recovery points one by one and 15 minutes by 15 minutes until you find one that actually restores to a SQL Instance.
    *  If you have 80 of these to do and you average trying three recovery points and each takes 15 minutes, not to mention the time to drop the table in SQL, well that time adds up to 3,600
minutes of trial and error.  60 hours of trial and error, wow not much of a savings using DPM over a SQL backup plan.
    * And then you have to explain to your customers that their databases were restored but you do not know at what point the DB was restored.
All in all it seems like DPM concept is great but like many backups the backup plan looks good on paper but actually restoring a backup is quite a different matter.
I don't know if anyone has ever solved the problems presented in this forum but if they have then I wish they would post and if no one has solved the problem then shame on DPM.
Good luck everyone, but I for one have spent about two months on trying to protect and restore consistently.  I have never had one day of consistent and reliable restore points.  I
am going back to sql management plans for my backups.  I have never, in 10 years had a sql generated backup fail me.  Never.

Maybe reboot your router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds or so and then plug it back in. Reboot your iPad while the router is powering up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • HT5887 Can you share pictures (or anything really that can be sent through air drop) from one device to another with the same iCloud?

I'm trying to send photos from my laptop (Macbook Pro 13") that aren't in my iphoto, to my iPod Touch 5g via airdrop, but when i know i have the bluetooth and airdrop turned on, neither show up on either device.  They're both signed into the same icloud (and apple id).  The other solutions I thought of are emailing them... over a hundred, five 1080x1920 (or something like that) pictures per email, and then take the time to save each one, send them through iphoto (which i'm sure costs a few dollars in the app store, or send them through another internet based app (like dropbox).
Are photos (and documents and stuff) able to send through airdrop if the two devices are logged into the same icloud? -thanks

    - AirDrop only work between iOS devices and between later Mac omputer, Not between an iOS device and a Mac computer. Do not ask why.
    - Transfer them using PhotoStream

  • Labview locks at startup with the network cable attached

I have an embedded application that is running winXP and Labview 7 Express.  I have my VI running from the startup menu as I have no keyboard, mouse or monitor normally attached.  the application uses TPC to commincate over a wireless network.  When I boot the computer with the network hooked up Labview locks up and a few minutes later the computer shuts down.  If I close Labview from Task Manager and restart the app it works fine.  The TPC part of the application is not running until a toggle switch is activated so the TCP part of the program is not active at start up.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible that Labview is trying to run the application before windows has fully come up?

Have you specify relative path or full of weblogic startup script? How's permission for user invoking startup script?
Excerpt from the docs as below:
Startup Script Location: Enter the full path to the startup script that is used to start your BEA WebLogic Server instance.
Have you installed the agent on the admin server instead of the managed server? It should be managed server.
Is this WebLogic clustered environment ? If it is a clustered setup; then you need to follow some specific steps to configure the managed servers. You are better off installing the agent on a managed server and copy the agent changes (CLASSPATH and JAVA_OPTIONS) to all the server instances. Some folks also prefer to copy these changes in commEnv.sh (easy way out) but we do not recommend this route since the server related JAVA_OPTIONS can be specific to each BEA server instance. Please note that the agent installer does not understand the template of admin server script. So, for a clustered environment :
    1. Remove the present agent, restore the admin server script.
    2. Install the agent on a managed server.
    3. If there are more than one managed servers, put the agent startup script related changes manually in each of the managed servers.
    4. Also note that you can start managed servers from console or command line. Depending on where you start managed servers, you will have to copy the agent changes to the respective files.
If it is not a clustered environment; follow 1 and 2 only. Could try it out and let us know what are your findings? Jerry

  • Problem with the Forwarding agent in MIRO

    Dear Guys ,
i have created 2 POs with 2 vendors V1 and V2 . Now in both the POs, the Forwarding agent is the same  FA. We will maintain  FA in both the POs with relevent Freight condition types and amounts too .The FA charges 10 rupees for V1 and 3 rupees for V2 . Now we have  to do MIRO for both the POs in a single shot . Please help me regarding the same

    Hi,
Your Forwarding agent FA should be a vendor (lets say V3).You created two POs with vendors V1 and V2 and during PO creation, you should assign Freight condition types to V3 for both POu2019s.
Once you finish GR, then you can do MIRO for two POu2019s to vendor-V3
    During MIRO,
Select Purchase Order/Scheduling agreement, enter PO number
    Select Planned Delivery Cost
After entering PO number, next to that, you have icon, Click on u201CMore Allocation Criteriau201D and you can enter other PO number in next pop-up screen and adopt it. Now you can see both PO number with two values( 10 & 3) for Vendor-V3, simulate and post document.

  • APAgent.exe error dnssd.dll on startup with the suggestion to reinstall. How do I remove the error?

I am giving away my windows XP laptop to my 80 year old Mom and deleted itunes and ipod software.
Now getting APAgent.exe error dnssd.dll with the suggestion to reinstall. How do I remove the error? I don't want to reinstall on this laptop.

Did you uninstall Bonjour from the PC? Airport software uses Bonjour, and it looks like your Airport base station agent is complaining about the missing Bonjour (dnssd.dll is a Bonjour file).
Is your Mom going to be using the Airport capabilities of the laptop? If not, it might be easiest just to uninstall the Airport utility and/or other related Airport software.

  • Device IS paired with the MacBook (white on 10.5.5) but won't connect?

Here is the deal- we have two MacBook Pros (one on 10.4.11 and the other on 10.5.4) and one MacBook (on 10.5.5) and all can see and be paired with the Nokia 6220 classic (mobile phone) but the MacBook refuses connection.
Now, I am not used to all this pairing malarky- I remember when your bluetooth device was found and connected automatically "just like that" back in the good old days. I cannot figure out why, if paired successfully, the MacBook will not just connect.
I am assuming that "pairing" is just the security formality between two devices and that IT relies on the ability of two devices to see each other.
So- if that was performed successfully (and it was) and the Nokia's bluetooth is on and working (was able to send a file to the MacBook Pro with 10.5.4 in the same room as a test) and so is the MacBook's bluetooth (it sent a file to the MacBook Pro as well) then where is the problem?
Notably- the drop down list of the MacBook we are trying to send files to shows three devices and I am assuming that this is like "favourites"? One of the devices on the drop down IS the Nokia 6220 classic mobile phone but it is the one which does not have options (ie a further drop down menu) but the one MacBook Pro we DID send to doesn't even show up on it!
I am completely lost- I would like to understand pairing and connecting better, and be able to resolve this because the Bluetooth Help files do not deal with this and the manual/site I was directed to did not address this.
    Thank you for reading.

Well, both iSync and Bluetooth File Transfers use the same Bluetooth hardware and system software, so it could've been related to your issue...
Anyway, as it works with some Macs, maybe there is some differences between those Macs?
Have you compared the Bluetooth hardware in the Apple System Profiler between the Macs that work, and the Mac that doesn't?
Most Macs with built-in Bluetooth use the CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) chipset, but I've seen some (usually more recent Macs) now have a Broadcom chipset.
In the past, the CSR chipset was always more compatible with other devices. If buying an external BT adapter it was always recommended to get one with the CSR chipset, rather than Broadcom.
If Apple have switched BT chip suppliers, you would hope that the new chip is as compatible as the earlier one. But maybe if the BT chips are different between the working and non-working Mac that could be a potential source of the problem. If so, it's likely to require a Bluetooth system software update from Apple to fix.
