AV says it isnt running

I've got a Win 7 x64 machine running Avira IS, the Action Centre says that Avira isn't running but when I check the processes it is, it doenst matter how many times ive selected that I trust the vendor Windows cannot change it to 'running'.
So I buy a MBP and put Win 7 x64 on and install Kaspersky IS15 and Windows is doing the same thing, so that's 2 machines one of which is a fresh install and both are genuine software with the same faults, has to be OS related?
Any ideas how I can solve this.

Do you find any event error logs as I mentioned in the last reply?
We are performing clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts. Follow these steps given in the link below to start the computer in clean boot.

I close FF and when I go to reopen it later it says it is running and I need to rerstart the system, if I Ctrl/Alt?del it is not shown as being open.

Firefox is not closing when I click on the X to close it, it seems to stay running in the background. So when I try to open it later I get a mesdsage that says FF is running, but is not showing up on my list of open programs. Windows XP. Actually, there seems to be a bit of a bug. Encountered this with a couple of files my wife made. The files were set to "open with" the new Keynote, but clicking the file brought up this error. Right-clicking and selecting "open with..." worked correctly. I can only assume the OS was attempting to open the file with Keynote '09 despite the file property setting.
Probably requires a Launch Services DB reset (although I haven't actually tried it on my wife's MBA yet...since she's still "working on stuff". So I can't confirm if it will solve the problem).

My firefox is running in the background, unvisible. It will not allow me to uninstall/ reinstall because it says it is running. I cannot create a new profile because it says that firefox is running? How do I fix this??

I have tried restarting my computer, tried uninstalling, tried reinstalling but it always tells me that Firefox is open and running. When I select the task manager, there is no "firefox" under process. I have tried checking to make sure that the "read only" box is not checked under the profile properties. it seems like my only option now is to create a new profile. However, the profile manager won't even come up because it says firefox is running in the background. So frustrating!

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.

You can force Firefox to create a new default profile if you remove the profiles.ini file.

You should first uninstall iTunes completely.
This is not an easy task!

I figured it out. A week ago I had downloaded a screensaver from a website I trusted and that's when my problems started. I uninstalled it but that didn't help. So, I reinstalled it then used an uninstall softtware app that cleanns more than the control panel does. Then I used a computer cleaner to be sure everything was wiped clean. And it worked. I downloded iTunes for the 7th time in 2 days and finally it worked! And I lost nothing from my account.
Maybe this info will help others.

Ok some things first I need to know...Did you use Microsoft cleanup utility to clean up all those uninstalls you have done?
I hate Norton and anyone who reads my posts will know that. I have seen way too many infected PC's by Norton users. Did you try the EWIDO and AdAware scan? I see you said you read lots of posts. That is helping folks remove the malware in order to get iTunes and quicktime back to health.

Reinstalling iTunes simply replaces the application. It shouldn't affect your media. You do have backups, right?

Once I turn off the browser and then try to use it later, I get a message saying its already running but not responding. tells me to close it which I cant do since its already closed. Forces me to restart my computer

When i open firefox it wont open...even though it says it's running..

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

It means that your machine does not meet the system requirements for InDesign. Check the system requirements for InDesign against those of your machine to see where your machine comes up short.
