AV scanning choices/methods
Folks,
After reading a lot of the posts/documentation on the topic I am attempting to sort through the choices on virus scanning methods available for a JES instance. In my case ver 6.2-7.05
Here are some questions:
Q: It looks like ClamAV is a good choice and it is apparently easy to do a channel integration with it, right?
Q: Does the "libclamav.so" library, now available in the recent JES release, allow one to integrate ClamAV directly into the MTA without a middle piece of software such as Amavis ? If so is this documented somewhere?
Document ID:79481 (which is now several years old indicates the need for amavisd-new to integrate clam-av scanning via a tcp_scan channel, however
the document also says "integration of clam-AV is open to discusssion" Once again the date of the doc is 2004.
I am familiar with, and am using, the Sophos virus scanner via sophie using, the multiscan.sh script, and we have a license for the defs. I have also used this with the iMS 5.2 MTA, so if the MTA integration to the sophos scanner is the same as clam-av, I am inclined to go with something I am familiar with.
Q: Can I assume that Clam-AV might plug into the MTA in a similiar manner as listed in the admin guide (pg 451) with the below settings,
or are these only specific to SAVSE ?

Hi,
Q: It looks like ClamAV is a good choice and it is
apparently easy to do a channel integration with it,
right?There are many factors to consider when implementing a virus scanning solution: cost, performance, reliability of product, number of updates etc.
ClamAV is a good start since its free, not too much overhead, integrates cleanly, fairly regular updates.
Q: Does the "libclamav.so" library, now available in
the recent JES release, allow one to integrate ClamAV
directly into the MTA without a middle piece of
software such as Amavis ? If so is this documented
somewhere?As of patch -58 for JES4 messaging server, libclamav.so is provided. Documentation is available in the next releases (6.3) messaging admin guide. libclamav.so plugin communicates directly with clamd, no need for middleware.
Document ID:79481 (which is now several years old
indicates the need for amavisd-new to integrate
clam-av scanning via a tcp_scan channel, however
the document also says "integration of clam-AV is
open to discusssion" Once again the date of the doc
is 2004.refer above.
I am familiar with, and am using, the Sophos virus
scanner via sophie using, the multiscan.sh script,
and we have a license for the defs. I have also used
this with the iMS 5.2 MTA, so if the MTA integration
to the sophos scanner is the same as clam-av, I am
inclined to go with something I am familiar with.I used Sophos/Sophie anti-virus scanning combination at my previous employer. I didn't use the multiscan.sh script but wrote a virus-scanning channel which communicated directly with sophie using the sophie libraries. The channel did other things such as plugged into spamassassin for spam markup, plus stripped and replaced executable attachments. Performance was/is excellent - unfortunately I can't supply the code and I no longer have access.. sorry.
The integration with ClamAV is much simpler, and faster. Calling out to multiscan.sh script is expensive in comparison.
Q: Can I assume that Clam-AV might plug into the MTA
in a similiar manner as listed in the admin guide (pg
451) with the below settings,
or are these only specific to SAVSE ?You assume correctly. If you provide your email address I will send you a copy of the to-be-released integration notes. The only cost to you is feedback so any fixes that are needed can be integrated prior to releasing the final documentation :)
Shane.

To scan a method boolean in another method
how can i scan a boolean in another method if its true, which parameters should i take..
because the same parameter like in the boolean method leads to the error X,Y cannot be resolved..
public boolean istPunktEnthalten(int X,int Y){
if (X>=x1 && X<=x2 && Y>=y1 && Y<=y2 ){
return true;
return false;
Rechteck vereinigung(Rechteck r){
if (istPunktEnthalten(X,Y)){ -------------->X,Y cannot be resolved, so whici param i need?
return r;
}First off, I would simplify the method like so:
public boolean istPunktEnthalten(int X,int Y)
return (X>=x1 && X<=x2 && Y>=y1 && Y<=y2 );
}Next of all, when you call it, you don't use X, Y, you use ints or variables that hold ints:
int a = 1;
int b = 2;
System.out.println(istPunktEnthalten(a, b)); -

I have a MacBook running OS X 10.9.5 and I'm using an HP Officejet 6500 series. I'm connected via USB cable. My scanner worked fine for months, now it's not working. The error message on the printer says "No Scan Options. Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot." I've gone through all the troubleshooting including uninstalling, reinstalling, and all the updating and restarts. Any idea what else I can try?
Hi @mk168
I understand you are having problems scanning despite your best efforts. I'm sorry to hear that, but will certainly do all I can to help out
There is no full feature software and driver available from HP, but the OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU).
With this driver you can still print and scan, you just wont have HP software to scan from. Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is only available when using HP Scan software, thus it will not work because there is no HP scan software as apart of the Apple Software Update driver.
Instead, you can scan using,
Method one: Scan from the Print & Scan window
Method two: Scan from Apple Preview
Method three: Scan from Apple Image Capture
I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions are have any difficulty using any of these methods, please let me know what method you are trying and what the issue/error is. You may also find the following document helpful; OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac

HP psc 24110 all-in-one - Problems scanning with OS X v10.5.7
Hi, I have been using my HP psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one printer successfully for the past 10months with my MacBook Pro. I recently upgraded my OSX operating system to v10.5.7. since then my printer has been unable to scan. It will print, copy & fax. Checking the HP website shows the latest version of OS X does not support the scanning function of the psc 2410. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem or do I have to buy another scanner? Alternatively, how do I get back to the previous version of OS X which was supplied with my Computer so that I can get the scan function to work?

Trying to scan via the paper feed of C309a to computer
I have recently upgraded to a Macbook Air and now I'm trying to scan for the first time from the printer to the computer. This was not a problem on my MacBook Pro. When I open the printer window there is no 'scan' button to press, like I had before? So what do I do to be able to scan?

1. We will be using a content management application to store and view the documents we scan, choice is going to be documentum
2. With that piece we already have the tomcat environment available
3. Outside of documentum we will need to build an application with an external database that will be the maintenence piece alongwith dynamic reports generated by the user community. We are looking at not more than a dozen tables that will be maintained externally via this application.
Now my question is what should the choice of tools be to develop this web application. Should it be EJB-JavaBean-JSP or JSP-JavaBeans-Struts type of framework? I am a novice in this area and any input/help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
TDLet me know if i have understood your requirement correctly:
You have a database with a dozen database objects(tables,etc).You need to develop a java application which will query this database.This application will consist primarily of reports which the users will be running.
Assuming I am with you so far, I have the following suggestion:
If the bulk of your processing is going to be "read" operations(as in case of reports),It really does not make sense for you to go for EJBs.A JSP-STRUTS type of setup will do very nicely.
Even If you DO have a lot of "Write" type of operations involved(eg: updating/inserting data),For most part,you may not need EJBs.Or you could use a mix of EJBs and plain java classes.For eg: you could use EJBs only for modules which have critical/sensitive data.For most part,I think you would do fine with JSP-STRUTS.
However,out of personal experience,I would urge you very strongly to use STRUTS; or if not pure struts,then atleast some form of the MVC pattern.

Not able to get the popup in WEB UI
Hey All-
We are implementing CRM 7.0 for the first time.We are using WEB UI to create contact persons.When users enters first name,last name,country and e-mail address.We have to do the validation in the system whether this is already exist in the system or not. If it is already exist,have to give table data(list of records) using popup.
Same logic works for me in SAPGUI using Transaction 'BP' with the popup...But, in WEB UI it is not working.I looked at the forums and try to find the solution...I did find,but not in-detail steps.
1. I have used transaction 'BSP_WD_CMPWB' to create new component for the copy of 'BP_ADDR'.
2. I created structure and follwed the steps.But,nothing is working
Regards,
SaiHello,
To create a pop-up in Web UI you need to create a new BSP component (for the pop-up) and set-up a link in the copy of the BSP component that you created. To set this link you need to configure inbound and outbound plugs in this two custom components and call the pop-up (BSP component) from a event method of your choice (methods of the implementation class in the view of BSP).
At the moment I don`t have any documentation of how create this link, but I will try find some of this in this forum.
Best Regards,
Felipe M Rodrigues. -

View Solution.Hi leslievilla,
There is no full feature software and driver available from HP, but the OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU).
With this driver you can still print and scan, you just wont have HP software to scan from. Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is only available when using HP Scan software, thus it will not work because there is no HP scan software as apart of the Apple Software Update driver.
This explains the issue you are having with the Printer Assistant. That program, and any other HP Software for that printer that is on the computer was intended for an earlier version of the operating system not 10.9.
Is your printer currently on your home network? If not you will not be able to use the software to configure it and this model does not have a wireless setup wizard available from the front panel. Instead you will need to either connect a USB cable, or we can try a work around to get the printer on the network.
Please complete the steps below to rid the computer of the incompatible software.
Scrub/ Uninstall
Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
* Only do this step if you do not have any other HP Printers. Hold down Control, Option and Command, While holding the three buttons down,
Click uninstall.
Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon ( ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan dialog box opens.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer.
At this point you can connect a USB cable from the printer to the computer and you will be able to print and scan, or if the printer is already on your network you can add the printer to your System Preferences with these steps;
Please ensure you are using the HP driver, not the AirPrint driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can choose the printer driver instead of AirPrint
You can scan using one of the following methods;
Method one: Scan from the Print & Scan window
Method two: Scan from Apple Preview
Method three: Scan from Apple Image Capture
I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions or have any difficulty using any of these methods, please let me know what method you are trying and what the issue/error is. You may also find the following document helpful; OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac
If you want to use your printer wirelessly, you can use another computer with a compatible operating system to configure the printer onto your wireless network, if you have one, or you can message me back and let me know and we can look at the work around as an option.
I hope this helps.
Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.

How do you connect separate VIs so data can be read in one and displayed in another?
I am reading data from a Lock-In Amplifier. I have wrote a general VI for the Lock-In Amp. I need to transfer data from this VI to a Control VI which logs the data. The Control VI also has to read temperature readings from a Temperature control VI. All three VIs will be running on the same PC.
The VIs must remain separate. The Control VI cannot read from the Lock-In Amp or aquire the temperature readings. Do you use ActiveX? If so, how?There are three relatively straightforward methods that come to mind, though the best implementation will depend upon the amount and rate of your data transfer.
1) Queues
Create a named queue, containing the appropriate data type(s). Add elements to the queue in the "Lock-In Amplifier" VI and remove elements from the queue in the general VI. This method may be the easiest to implement since all of the data handling mechanisms to ensure that data isn't lost or duplicated are built into the queue functions.
2) Datasockets
There are plenty of examples for transferring data via datasockets. I haven't used them as often as queues, but they're definitely the best choice in some circumstances.
3) By Reference
Create a reference in your general VI and pass th
e reference to your "Lock-In Amplifier" VI in the process of calling it. Alternately, the reference could be stored as a global variable so that the programs could be started independently. The "Lock-In Amplifier" VI would then utilize a property node to write data to the referenced memory. Of course, this method would require polling and a mechanism for preventing data from being lost. This wouldnt be my first choice method.
Certainly there are other methods as well, but I hope this gives you a good start. -
HP Photosmart D110a - Scanner no longer works after upgrading to OS Mavericks 10.9
I have an iMac. I upgraded my system to OS 10.9.5 Mavericks and the scanner of my multifunctional HP Photosmart D110a stopped working. Images imported by the scanner can not be saved in any format. I tried importing and saving from many different applications, as suggested in this forum, but none worked. I have read and researched this forum for at least 5 hours and none of the solutions worked! Neither for me nor for the people who had the same problem! I tried absolutely everything and nothing solved the problem! I downloaded drivers from various links provided, I reinstalled the printer multiple times, I read absolutely everything and no response from the HP team was satisfactory! The HP team indicates generic installation solutions, as if treating with stupid people. No objective response was presented! This seems like a joke! This is ridiculous!
Please, I require a clear and objective solution !!!
Thank youHi @LuloMusic
There is no full feature software and driver available from HP, but the OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU).
With this driver you can still print and scan, you just wont have HP software to scan from. Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is only available when using HP Scan software, thus it will not work because there is no HP scan software as apart of the Apple Software Update driver.
This explains the issue you are having with the Scan software. That program, and any other HP Software for that printer that is on the computer was intended for an earlier version of the operating system not 10.9. Unexpected Scan Output Using HP Scan Application for HP Multifunction Printers When Using OS X v10.9...
At this point you can connect a USB cable from the printer to the computer and you will be able to print and scan, or if the printer is already on your network you can add the printer to your System Preferences with these steps;
Please ensure you are using the HP driver
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can choose the printer driver
Now you can scan using one of the following methods;
