Availability check of alternate components / raw materials

A HALB material ( I1 ) has got four alternate raw materials ( R1, R2, R3, R4 )
The need is that when doing the material availability check of I1 when releasing production order, it must check the material availability of R1 + R2 + R3 + R4 to meet the requirement of I1.
Can the above be done in R3 ? If yes , how ?

Hi,
A quick thought:
For those materials which you consider as critical, in the scope of check for these materials OPJJ, tick only include safety stock & you might want to consider Released -> production orders, Stock transport orders & only withdrawable reqn's so this would ensure that the system considers the present stock & then only those issues which you have selected, thereby have a more realistic availability check, where as for the non-critical components, you can consider all stocks, firmed receipts etc, this rule you can assign during creation stage. But for release stage since you want to do a detailed check for all components you can assign the relevant rule as per your need.
The above would ensure that the missing list would be generated only for your critical components if the present stock does not support the new needs generated by the production order.
Hope the above helps.

Vivek

  • Availability check  for Alternate items

    Hi PP Guys,
In the BOM alternative item group has been maintained with the parameters of Priority, Strategy "2" language probability 100%.
Alternative item group with the strategy " 2 ", it will check for full required quantity of the 1st priority item while doing availability check in the production order, if there is any stock deficit it will check for 2nd priority item for full required quality.
But the requirement is, if there is any stock deficit with the 1st priority item, then quantity available with the 1st priority item should be confirmed and the balance shortfall quantity should check with the 2nd priority item and accordingly it should confirm the requirements.
Please suggest me, is there any way to map the above requirement.
    regards,
    Purna

    Purna,
This is not possible in standard SAP. SAP has provided only two options for this. The one which you explained and the other in which you define the percentage of usage probability.

  • Error in process order- availability check

    Hi All,
system is throwing error while checking availability in process order creation. it says availability check is not maintained in materials and child component. but it is maintained. apokz field value is 3 for all materials. and it is showing error for all the materials.
while debugging we found there is a field TM00000000010R whose status is inactive.
    any clue guys??
    thanks in advance!!

    Dear Ashish,
1.Check if a master recipe exists for the material in C203 and if exists means check the usage and status of the master recipe.
that is value for status as 4 - Released General and usage - 1 - production .
2.If no master recipe exists means then create one using T.Code C201.
3.Then check the impact in COR1.

  • Material availability check not being executed

First of all: I’m an SD consultant with limited knowledge about PS
At our current client are we facing an issue with the material availability check in project system orders, created through e.g. CJ20N. The client mentions, that the availability check on the components is not being executed and therefore is effecting their operations
I did check SAP OSS and found the following OSS notes:
01774744           Planning quantity of PIR is not getting updated properly
    01745038           BAPI_NETWORK_COMP_CHANGE is updating PBED-PLNMG incorrectly
    01774657           BAPI_NETWORK_COMP_CHANGE is not updating PBED-PLNMG –III
    Those notes were also implemented
Did find transaction CJBN and did some testing, but did get the message
    BL 001
    Availability check not activated
    I did check transaction
    OPJJ and everything looks good.
    OPJK and everything looks good
At this point I’m totally clueless on how to resolve the issue.
If you would have any suggestions, pointers or remarks: they would be appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Jan Pel

    Hi,
Can you please check whether the configuration of material availability check in PS is proper and in place or not. Please check the following sap help link on material's availability check in PS:

  • Avail. check in subcontracting orders

    Hi guys,
I have recently faced an issue that must be a well-known problem. Unless I am doing something wrong.
When you place a subcontracting PO, its components are reserved in stock. The problem is that the availability check is not started automatically when the order is placed, but must be explicitly triggered by the user on the component screen.
    This creates two problems:
    - There's no warning about unavailability of components
    - The reservations are not confirmed (committed), which means that the other orders (prod. orders, sales orders) competing on the same stock don't see them and reserve the stock for themselves.
I wonder if there's a way in standard SAP (either customising or a user exit) to force availability check of the components.
    TIA
    Raf

    Hi,
Thanks for the input. I have found the answer - it is impossible.
If you like, check the OSS note 323991 why.
In short, SAP doesn't want to reserve the stock and doesn't recommend doing this manually since the following stock movement (541) doesn't consume this reservation, as this is the case in e.g. SD and PP. The functionality is simply not there.
For our purposes however, it is enough to cancel the reservation when the the subcontracting PO is recieved and closed (thus effectively cancelling the reservation). But SAP doesn't have provision for this case. We will have to continue running the avail. check manually...

  • Availability Check on Subcontract Component

We have a one to one ratio of component (B) to Finished Goods (A)  ratio for our BOM quantity.  PO is for 15 ea of  Material A.
There is only 12 ea of Material B at the vendor.  System allows me to Post Goods Receipt all 15 Material A without any error message.
Is there any availability check of subcontract components during GR?  I was hoping the system would suggest that I only need to receive 12 ea.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
As you have told that there is one to one ratio b/w component (B) and FG (A). It means if you create a PO for 15 qty of A then system will automatically copy 15 qty of B in "Components" tab of PO from BOM.
And you will transfer 15 qty of B to Subcontractor. (MB1B - 541 mvmt)
So at the time of GR, system will propose 15 qty of A as well as B.
But, if you will change the qty of A or B after clciking on "BOM Explostion" button then it will allow to change you the qty of A and B and will not give you any message since it is the facility provided by SAP. In case if your FG got manufactured in less qty then you have that faclility to change the qty of components in MIGO.
If you want system to change the component (B) qty on the basis of receipt qty of FG (A)as per the BOM then first change Qty. in Unit of Entry for FG (A) at "Item Details" level and then click on "Explode BOM" button at "Item Overview" level. It will propose qty of B as per BOM.

  • Production order release Material Availability check

    Gurus,
I have a production problem where the order can be released when the component for the order is in a restricted status.  This is not allowed by the batch search strategy.
    <u>Here's Problem Description:</u>
When running on version 4.6C, I have a work order created. I release the work order successfully.  However there is a component that has an invalid material/batch according to the batch search strategy  The material availability check shows all components available.
However, I remove the batch and the batch can not be entered because it is not correct according to the batch search strategy.  I try and release and the material is added to the missing parts list.
I change the component so that it can be used.
Put the batch number back in the order.
    Save the order.
Change the component material/batch so that it is no longer valid.
The order will release and it shouldn't because the material/batch is not valid.
<u>I've looked at the following transactions and master data:</u>
OPL8 - Order Type - Dependent Parameters Overview for my plant and order type and the check batch box is checked.
MM03 - Material Master MRP 2 view for the component to get the availability check
    OVZ2 - Availability check control
OPJK - Order Control to get the checking rule for order release
OPJJ - Availability check control details with availability check and the checking rule for order release - I did not see anything here that would influence the checking based on if the batch was entered or not.
I did double check the batch search strategy for production order - COB3. Everything looks OK there.
Does anyone have any other places to check? I must be missing something. I tried OSS - there weren't any notes that I could find.
    Thank you!
    Michelle

  • Material Availability Check Upon Confirmation

    Hello Everyone,
I had a question regarding Material Availability check.
Here My raw material and Semifinished Goods are Backflushed during confirmation. My client wants to check material availability check upon confirmation of production order. System should not allow Confirmation if no stock is available. Is there any way how I can do this?
I know we can perform material availability check upon release and prevent the same, but user does not accept this since change in production order is possible even after release.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Aji Kurian Mani

    Hi,
you can configure this in the confirmation parametres --OPK4.In General individual entry tab Error handling/logs tabmake a tick for the Goods movements --Termination for the Incorrect Goods Movts.
Termination of Confirmation if Incorrect Goods Movements Controls if the confirmation is terminated in the event of incorrect goods movements
If these incorrect goods movements are determined by inventory management, then the option of correcting these errors is offered in the error handling
If the correction is not successful, the confirmation is terminated
    Thanks,

  • Availability check for components

    Hi All,
We have one material which is assembled by using two components (BOM).
During avaiability check in sales order system should check components stock available in Stores.
    · If there is sufficient stock of the component materials is available, the availability check should report a fixed number of days to make assembly,
    · If there is insufficient stock of the component materials, the availability check should report the longest lead time for the material which is short + fixed number of days to assembly.
    Please help
    Vikas

    Vikas,
This is pretty standard Strategy 82 (assemble to order).
In the case of adequate components in stores, finish date of the production order (from which the confirmation date of the sales item is derived) will be dependent on the routing time.  You can construct your routings to be fixed times, if you wish.
In the case of inadequate components, the system determine the availability of the components (usually from Total replenishment lead time of the components) and will then schedules the production order.  The finish date of the production order (from which the confirmation of the sales item is derived) will be TRLT of the longest lead time component plus the routing time.

  • Availability check of raw material during sale order processing

    Dear experts,
When i am entering the finished good in sale order processing, system should check the raw material availabilty. Is it possible in STD sap
    Regards,
    murali.R

thanks to you all for your reply,
My customer is bright bar manufacturer,They just buy the steel bar & process it & sell it to the customer. So there is only one RAW MATERIAL.
Their all the activities are mainly based on raw material. So customer wants.....when we enter the finished good system should check the RM stock, based on RM STOCK,sytem should do the availability check...& confirm the delivery date
I have mapped customer requirement, after modifying item category & assignment......
Sales BOM explosion & delivery group is maintained for header material.availability check is on at component level & header level. So now system consider the raw material stock & it conform the dates when  i do availability check combinely.
I would like to know how it will affet the MRP incase of alternative BOM....FURTHER PROCESSING
Is it the right practise.....Please reply...............

  • MTO not considering available raw materials

Here there are some available raw materials in unrestricted use. When any new sales order is generated for MTO finished material it is generating a new purchase requisition for the same raw material ( since that raw material is not assigned to the sales order ). But here client is asking that it should consider the available raw material only when they generate any new sales order for finished product and it should not generate any new PR

    Hi
For raw materials in MRP- 4 view give individual/coll field as 2 which is collective requirement. It will consider. Do it only for raw material.

  • Materials in stock at u loc consider for Availability check but not for MRP

    Dear ALL,
Please solved the problem by settings in the customizing  we are able to set the materials  at stock U location (serviceable )should not be considered in Mat Availability  for PM orders
Settings we have made for all storage locations in U * By excluding storage location stock from MRP
If storage location stock is excluded from MRP at plant level, no receipts for this storage location will be created in the planning run.
so we are able to run the availability check perfectly
But now MM dept.is not accepting this as they want this stock to be considered for MRP
Has anybody done this scenrio successfully please reply the solution
    Regards
    Pratap

A way that I think of, is to set the ATP at SL level, so in PM order you check only in a specific location, not in all the plant.
Of course that you need to let all SLs to be relevant for MRP, otherwise this stock is not considered for planning.

  • Budget check in PR/PO for Raw Materials

    Hello
We have requirement that there should be a Budget check even for Raw Materials before PR /PO is created.
We have observed that Budget check is done if Account Assignment Category "F" is used. But for procuring Raw Materials is there any way we can check the Budget.
Can this be requirement  done through Funds Management ?

    Hi,
'Budget check even for Raw Materials before PR /PO is created' before PR?when you want check budget?
'We have observed that Budget check is done if Account Assignment Category "F" is used'-not only for F.
'Can this be requirement done through Funds Management ?'-you can check at PR/PO level as well as GR/IR

  • Need to do availability check for multiple materials (in bulk)

    HI Friends,
I need to do availability check for multiple materials. Currently i am using function module AVAILABILITY_CHECK within a loop. For my purpose I could find this particular FM as well as BAPI "BAPI_MATERIAL_AVAILABILITY" however both of this options can not be used for more then one materials at a time.
I want to take out the loop from the code and get multiple materials be ckecked at once for availability. If AVAILABILTY_CHECK FM can be used for multiple materials, please post the usage.
    Any other options are there?
Any help or clue would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Use the BAPI.  Even if such a function existed, it would still perform the relevant internal logic required for checking by material, so you wouldn't gain anything.

  • Availability check in sales order for DIEN materials.

    Hello,
Is it possible to make availability check in sales orders for a service material e.g.: type DIEN? How can i customize it?

The DIEN material type is not stock managed, so it does not make sense to check the availability. If you need to do something similar you could use material type UNBW, this material is quantity managed but not valuated, so maybe this can help you !
