Avalible Serials in stock - OSRI and OITW differences
Hi all
i was navigate to : Item master data - inventorydata Tab
and look at the "in stock" value (per whscode='020') .
"in stock" value reprent OITW table ,onhand field
i found a value that "in stock" not represnt the "REAL" 'available serials' in OSRI (not frozen and with status=0)
there is differences between OSRI and OITW.
SQL - to Look at OSRI for 'available serials' :
select T0.ItemName, T0.itemcode, count(T0.itemcode) as 'available serials', T0.status, T0.WhsCode
from osri T0
Inner join OITM T1 on T0.ItemCode=T1.ItemCode
Where T1.frozenFor<>'Y'
group by T0.itemcode, T0.ItemName, T0.WhsCode, T0.status
having T0.status = 0
and T0.whscode='020'
order by T0.itemcode
1. how this happen in first place ?
2. is thier away to sync beween those values , to match ?
3.how i modify the in stock value ?
Thanks in advance
yanivh
Whether an Item is frozen or not does not have any relavance to stock counts. If your Item was not serialized initially then there could be quantity in stock for that item but nothing in the OSRI table as they were not serialized at time of receipt.

Difference between Stock transfer and transfer posting
I am little confused about the difference between stock transfer and transfer posting. Please clarify
<<Locked - reason: failed to search before posting question>>
Edited by: Csaba Szommer on Feb 9, 2011 9:10 AMHello,
Transfer posting may involve or not involve the physical goods transfer. In the system you might do transfer posting from quality to unrestricted, or from one store location to another.
In transfer posting you remove and or replace materials from storage in one storage location and place them in another storage location.
That transction code you use for transfer posting MB1B with following movement types may be used
301, 303,305,311,411,309.
301 is Stock Transfer Between Plants in One Step
303 & 305 : Stock Transfer Between Plants in Two Steps
In stock transfer, it always involves physical movement of goods, like transfer between plants under same company code or different company codes.
Following types are possible with STO's
Stock Transport Order Without Delivery
Stock Transport Order with Delivery via Shipping
Stock Transport Order with Delivery and Billing Document/Invoice

What is the difference between WTR1 stock price and Price, some time both are zero?
what is the difference between WTR1 stock price and Price, some time both are zero?
please adviceHi,
Are you referring these two field in WTR1 table? If yes,
(Figure 1 There is no price defined and received with zero price)
1. Based on price list, this info price will be updated. If there is no price, this field is zero
2. If you receive any item without price (for GRPO with zero price), then field is zero
3. If you receive item with price, based on quantity, the moving average price will be updates at item cost.

Exact Difference between Non Stock NLAG and Non Valuated UNBW Materia type
Dear All
What is the Exact Difference between Non Stock NLAG and Non Valuated UNBW Materia type?
I tried creating Purchase Order and found that accouting doc got created at both times and stock was not updated in MMBE for both material types.
RegardsHi,
non-valuated material (Material Type UNBW):
This type of material is managed on a quantity basis, but not on a value basis. This makes sense for materials of low value, stocks of which nevertheless have to be monitored (for example, operating manuals).
Non-stock material (NLAG) (Material Type NLAG):
Inventory management is not possible for these materials either on a quantity or value basis. For frequently required consumables, the use of this material type nevertheless enables you to store the information required to create
purchasing documents (such as texts and units of measure).
When a material is procured directly for consumption, no material master record is necessary. In connection with consumable materials, you can distinguish between the following cases:
Consumable material without material master record
Consumable material with material master record that is not subject to
inventory management (on either a quantity or value basis)
Consumable material with material master record that is subject to inventory management on a quantity, but not a value, basis

Serialized item stock discrepency
Hi,
For a material in MMBE it shows stock has 10 nos. If I see it in IQ09 serial number report for the same article it shows 11.
How it can be possible
Pls adviseYou can run the report RIMMSF00 to identify the differences between the MM-IM stock tables and the serial number data.
Then, to fix the differences detected, please, run a physical inventory process. See the SAP Note 612132 about it:

Serial Number Stock Check at the time of Delivery
Experts,
Process:
Sales Order PR(Purchase Order) GR( New Serial Numbers are created automatically or manually keyed in)
Once the Goods Receipt is received, we do the (SO) DELIVERYu2014SERIAL NUMBER ASSIGNMENT Post Goods Issue
Issue:
Current Serial Number Profile Management does not do a valid serial number check during DELIVERY CREATION where we do a SERIAL NUMBER ASSIGNMENT.
Only during POST GOODS ISSUE, the check happens for valid serial numbers; this is too late in the game for business as there is a time lag of 3 days from the DELIVERY CREATION and PGI.
Reason being--- We donu2019t check the following u201C Existing Stock Checku201D( which does a serial number validation during delivery creation as well)
SPRO>Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Technical Objects>Serial Number Management>Define Serial Number Profiles
If we check this option, the business requirement to do a valid serial number check does happen during delivery creation, however we cannot create new serial numbers during Purchase Order- GOODS RECEIPT.
QUESTION:
Can we have the system check the valid serial numbers from stock during delivery creation and serial number assignment.
And Also create new serial numbers during Purchase Order- Goods Receipt.Hi,
Thanks for the reply. This field is having the value the count of serial numbers entered irrespective of the valid serial numbers entered. I created two delivery document, one with serial number which was not there in the stock and the other with a valid serial number. For both the delivery document LIPS-ANZSN gives the count of serial number which I have entered.
Please let me know how can I move further.

Use of Serial Numbers in Deliveries and Goods Issue
Hi,
We are using externally created serial numbers in Sales deliveries. At the time of creation of Serial Number we are maintaining Plant code in Stock Data and creating an Equipment for every serial number.
Now at the time of Delivery when user assigns serial numbers then system is allowing using Serial Number created in a Plant to be used in other Plant. Moreover I am able to use same serial number twice i.e. Serial Numbers which were used for the goods already delivered can be used again for other deliveries.
Though this process is related to Delivery but the same situation is there at the time of GR also.
If somebody have faced simmilar situation may be in different process then pl. suggest any solution.
SMHi Everyone!
Lot of similar questions but with no answer.
I have found out an answer to the below and thought of sharing it with all for the sake of the community.
The setting(if at all available) that has
to be maintained to avoid the scenerio: a serial number if already posted in
the goods issue document should not allow for further goods issue for the
same material serial number combination.
Solution:
1) Check from the material master data of the material that you are doing the PGI for, the serialization profile used for it.
2) Go to Tcode : OIS2, check the box for ExistReq, and make StkCk as 2.
3) Go to Tcode : OIS2, select that serialization profile, and go to serializing procedures.
4) Dont alter any procedures that are there, just add
SDCR-Completion check IR delivery with SerUsage value as 03 and EqR value as 01,
In case, this is already maintained, change the values to 03 and 01 for SDCR - Completion check IR delivery.
This will give an information message while usage of serial number for PGI, with same message BS011 and IO233 but will not let you do the PGI and save the document.
Thanks & Regards,

Miro hitting inventory and price difference
Dear All,
I would like to seek advice of the posting during MIRO on point 4 and 5 why there is a hitting on inventory account and price difference of the amount given? How system get the amount in inventory account and price difference account?
Really need advice.
1)
GR - qty 20
dr inventory $1500000
cr GRC $1500000
2) GI - qty 1 and now remained only 19 qty
moving price = $75,000
qty = 19
price unit = 1
value = $1425000
3) MIRO
dr GRC $1500000
cr vendor $1500000
4) MIRO say qty is 21 and amount no change
dr GRC $1571429
cr vendor $1500000
cr inventory $64626
cr price diff $6803
5) MIRO say qty is 20 and amount i enter $1507500
dr GRC $1500000
cr vendor $1507500
dr inventory $7125
dr price diff $375
thanksrefer my remarks in BOLD
4) MIRO say qty is 21 and amount no change
This scenario is not possible as you have taken GR for Qty 20 only.
*still you have added $ 71429 in GRC so this should be uploaded on Inventory ($71429 / 21 = 3401.38) hence Inventory account will get updated with $3401.38 * 19 (available stock) ie $ 64626 & diff of 21 - 19 = 2 * 3401.38 ($6803) will be updated in Price Diff account*
dr GRC $1571429
cr vendor $1500000
cr inventory $64626
cr price diff $6803
5) MIRO say qty is 20 and amount i enter $1507500
* Goods receipt is posted with 1500000 but vendor has presented invoice of 1507500 hence the additional cost ie 7500 has to be loaded on inventory but available inventory is 19 as 1 qty is already issued from stock hence (7500/20 = 375) for 19 qty inventory account will updated with $7125 (375*19) & for material which is already issued prior to taking invoice receipt ie 1 Qty (375 * 1) = 375 will hit to Price Diff Ac.*
dr GRC $1500000
cr vendor $1507500
dr inventory $7125
dr price diff $375 -
Landed costs and price differences
I'm trying to figure out what PS does to adjust for total value discrepancies between an invoice voucher and associated PO. Say on my PO I have a line item with quantity of 2 and unit price of $10. Therefore total value is $20. When I create a voucher, that same line item is now 2x$11 = $22. I approve that voucher for $22. Now I run the Extract Landed Cost batch process. What does this process do to "compensate" for the difference between voucher and PO? Does it change the unit price of that item in inventory from $10 to $11?
Hi, yes you are right: Using this approach ML would use price differences for other batches and increase their value instead of posting them as loss like the initial cost.
The way around that would be to post some unplanned material good receipt for the loss production order, e.g. a material called scrap. In account determination you might make sure that these materials have own stock and price difference accounts that you could treat special in your balance sheet.
This would be shown in ML like a joint production between the planned product and the scrap material and multi-level variances would be distributed using following an apportionment structure from material master.
If it is difficult to maintain a reasonable apportionment structure you might implement BADI cost_split described in note 997264.
Also a good possibility would be to use a quantity-proportional split that can be derived from the ML quantity structure.
I could provide an example implementation of that.

Very imp stock transfer and stock transport order
hi folks,
please explain me in detail the difference between stock transfer and stock transport order.
regards,meenaHi:
Stock Transfer is the physical movement of material from one location to another location, stock transport order is one way of doing the stok transfer.
Stock can be transfer between plant to plant, company code to company code, storage location to storage location.
However there are different procedures for stock transfers:
1.Stock Transfer using one step procedure: Here Goods issue and Goods receipts happens in single step.
2.Stock Transfer using Two stage procedure:The two-step procedure allows you to monitor the stocks in transit. After the goods issue is posted at the issuing point, the stock appears "in stock transfer" at the receiving point and is managed as such in the system.
3.Stock Transport Order:
This is transfer of material from one plant to other plant or co.code to co.code via SD route.
Here a.receiving plant raise the stock transport order on issuing plant.
b. Issiuing plant creates the outbounmd delivery against STO and PGI.IF it is in India, then excise
invoice creation.
c. Receiving plant post the goods receipt against outbound delivery and post the excise ivoice.
d. Invoice verification.
The main advantage of Stock Transport order is you have a more control because you can have purchasing document behind itand you can check the PO history which would gives all the details for Delivery as well GR documents.
However ftor STO via SD you need to configure the set up stock transport order in MM>Purchasing>Purchase Order-->Set Up Stock Transoport order.
Also on a data maintanace side you need to maintain the custmor and vendor relations.
Hope this would helps you.
Cheers

Plant Management documentation serialized equipment stock adjustments
In the Plant Management module is there any documentation how to make serizlized equipment stock adjustments within a plant. When to change the equipment status for a material to ie ALVB, ECUS, ESTO, etc.
Hello Shirley,
Yes this PM-MM integration through Serial Numbers is tricky and not many resources are available.
IMHO for material types that can be serialized, I would make the serialization profile mandatory through field selection or user-exit. This way the material would be always moved according to the serial profile rules.
I just found there is a new documentation available from SAP. Do a Google Search on "Serial Number Management (126)" that should get you to the following URL: http://help.sap.com/bp_bl603/BBLibrary/HTML/126_EN_CA.htm
Using serial numbers, you can track each individual material during goods movement. This building block includes the configuration settings for serial number management and shows the serial number handling on finished goods level.
As always with Best Business Process, you want to check the "Configuration Guide" and the "Business Process Documentation".
Display Serial Number Status
... You will the status of the serial number. There could be more than one active status:
AVLB Available
ECUS At customer site
EDEL Assigned in delivery note
ESTO In the warehouse
That looks like your original question

Stock transfer and post changing
Dear WM consultants,
What is the diff between Stock transfer and post change or post change notice in WM view?
can u explain with an example?
pl reply
guruHi,
The main difference between stock transfer and transfer posting is that, transfer postings need not involve an actual (physical) goods movements. In the case of stock transfers, on the other hand, there is always a physical movements of goods.
In the below link, you can find all the informations about transferpostings and stock transfers:

QM- Differnce between stock posting and Qty. posting
Hi Gurus,
I want to know what is the difference between the term stock posting and the term qty. posting. Is it possible to do the stock posting and qty. posting from QA32 screen.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
The term Qty posting and Stock Posting are same. The material stock or qty can be transfered to different storage locations or to different plants or to different companies. The material will be removed from one location and added in the other location.
Through QA32 you can do the stock or qty posting if the material is in the Quality stock.
