Average on chart with Region Area

Hello,
I have a Line chart with time periods as X Axis, Count of Incidents as Y Axis, and Resolution Code as Region.
Now I want to make one more line on chart - average count of incidents, despite the Resolution code (over all codes).
But when I insert measure like =Average(Count([Number])) on chart, it applies resolution codes to it.
Is there a way to insert a line independent from Region?

A step is a dimension, which represents date.
User is prompted to choose possible period from such:
25 months with step of 6 months
13 months with step of 1 month
1 day with step of 1 hour
I have a special view in DB, which calculates each step, e.g. for period "1 month with step 1 day":

So what I am doing, is calculating Count of Number ForEach step.
Then I add field Resolution Code from another table, and thus I get my chart.
Basically, what I need to have as trend line is Average Count for Each Step despite Resolution Code.
Hope, this makes my issue clearer.
P.S. =Average(Count(Number) foreach([Step])) in Report isn't helping, the issue is the same.

Drill Down between 2 stacked column chart with multiple rows.

Can anyone please help me.
1) i have to create stacked column chart with Region and cout of calls for previous 3 quarters.
2) the 2nd stacked column should display the priority with the count of calls for the respective selection of region on the 1st chart..
to achieve this,
i'm using 2 stacked column charts and 1 lebel baseb menu.
from this i can able to get the drill down from label based menu to 2nd stacked column chart but i couldn't able to done the same from 1st stacked coumn chart.
Becoz my data is multiple row for each quarter.
please suggest me to achieve the drill down between 2 stacked column charts.

I'm using label based menu "filterd rows" only but i couldn't bind the drill down with the 1st stacked column chart.
for mor details:
1) i'm having 2 stacked coumn charts & 1 lebel based menu but eventhough i couldn't able to achieve.
if i select the lebel based values then the 2nd stacked column charts is giving detailed valus but if i keep my mouse on the 1st stacked column chart the there is no changes on the 2nd chart..
somewhere i'm mising the binding data between 1st stacked coumn chart & lebel based menu on drill down part.
Becoz i'm having multiple rows. so can you please try your and send me the xlf file using your concept.

Line chart with different "colors": Values not available are displayed as 0

Hello,
I defined a line chart with more than one lines (aka "colors" in the chart wizzard) - each line representing the (monthly) values of a year. x axis are the 12 months of the year; y axis are the values.
When one defines such a line chart in BIP client there is a choice between sum, average and count for the data values.
This is no problem for my template as there is only one value per month/year - so I used sum.
The problem: for the actual year there are no values for future months . But bip nevertheless shows 0 for this month/year... Can one prevent this?

Solved it finally - unavailable values must explicitly be passed to the report with nothing contained in the value tag.

Pie Chart -- legend texts are cut (with "...")

when I*m using pie charts with displaying the legend, longer texts are cut (e.g.: "220/35V 60W yellow...")
What can I do to show the complete text?

the cuts are due to the size of the pie chart. you can resize your pie chart for the legends to show properly.

OBIEE Area Chart with Line Graph

Can you create an Area and Line Graph together in one chart with OBIEE (rather than with the bar graph and line chart combo)??

Did you mean a Trendline? If that is the case, right click on any of the areas in the area chart and select Trendlines from the context menu.

Calculate Results As Average of Detailed Values That Are Not Zero... with hiearchies doesn't work

For the key figures, the option of "Calculate Results As Average of Detailed Values That Are Not Zero, Null, or Error" works fine for characteristics drilldown without hierarchies, but with hierarchies it simply doesn't work; instead of calculate the overall result as average, the system calculates it as SUM. It works like the option "Nothing Defined" where the results provided by the analytic engine are displayed. No local calculation takes place.
How can I do to display the overall result of hierarchical drilldown of a characteristic as an average?

It is usually best to just keep it as simple as possible. What do you think the code in the OR Array Elements does? I imagine it is just a simple FOR loop with a variable to keep the latest OR. So I would do what GerdW just showed with the FOR loop.

Stacked area chart with start and end dates

Hi,
I'm trying to create a stacked area chart from values that have a start date and an end date. I'd like the area to be drawn as a sum of the values at each x-axis date interval. So if I have data like:
Start
End
Value
2013-01-01      2015-01-01
100
2013-09-01      2014-01-01
200
2013-01-01      2016-01-01
300
What I need is to have the chart show the area y-axis at 400 from the start up to 2013-09-01 where it would rise to 600. At 2014-01-01 it would drop back down to 400 and at 2015-01-01 it would drop to 300 until the end.
Is this possible without calculating the sums for each date beforehand?

According to your description, it seems that you need add Start and End fields with the same level (without group relationship) to the x-axis in stacked area chart. As per my understanding, we couldn’t add multiple fields in one group at the same level.
So in order to work around this issue, we can modify the dataset to combine the Start and End field into one filed, then add the new filed to x-axis. For more details, please refer to the steps below:
Modify the dataset with the following query statement:
select Start as date , Value as value
from table_name
union
select [End] as date, (0-Value) as value
from table_name
Drag a Stacked Area Chart to design surface.
Insert value field to Values pane, then modify it with the expression below:
=runningvalue(Fields!vlaue.Value,sum,"DataSet_name")
Insert date field to Category Group pane.

Bex Analyser: Bar chart with limit or average line, is it possible?

Hi everyone.
I have a short question:
Do you know if it is possible to combine different chart types in the Bex Analyser?
I would like to have a bar chart providing monthly values and in the same chart a line showing 1) a fixed limit and 2) another line showing an accumulated moving average.
I have the values as source available, however I can't figure out how to combine the bar charts with a line chart in the same graph.
Does anybody know if this is possible?

Nana ,
it is possible to have a Bex Chart of mixed type , you can choose the type of display for each series
As for fixed line - you will need to have the values supplied by query
As for moving average , that too needs to come from the query. The IGS service which renders the chart is something similar to Excel - the display options can be changed but nothing more that what is in the data table.

How to implement this algorithm with region growing ?

I would like to ask u to help me in developing code for the region growing segmentation algorithm for digital images.The algorithm perform
1.Model I should use the average of the pixel(for each colorchanel,red-green-blue ) from the color I choose.
2. Strating start by choosing an arbitrary seed pixel via 10X10 region and calculate the average of the region and compare it with neighbouring pixels.
3. growing region is grown from the seed pixel by adding in neighbouring pixels that are similar , increasing the size of the region.
4. stop when the growth of one region stops, then the program should try another direction. the growth is starting on the left and in the same direction as the rotating hands of a clock
the whole process is stoped until the growth of all the direction stoped and choose a largest region with a bounding box. all the pixels in the bounding box is now similar.
I really don't know , how can I do it?
Please suggest the tips to develop or code if u have for this algorithm.

Something you need to consider is what sort of data structure you will use to hold the result of a region that you are growing. One possibility is to keep a second black and white image that is simply a mask of the grown region, i.e. black in the areas that have been included and white in the areas not yet covered.
You also need to determine a threshold for similarity. How close in color space must two pixels be in order that you consider them to belong to the same region. You will need a boolean function that compares two colors and returns true if they are similar.
Finally, if you use a mask bitmap to indicate where you have been, you can proceed in the following sort of manner.
You can sweep across the entire image array, first right to left, then top to bottom, then left to right, then bottom to top, cycling through these 4 directions until nothing changes.
A single sweep will consist of a double nested for loop, one incrementing x and the other incrementing y. Inside the inner loop you are considering a single pixel at (x,y)
So assume that you are sweeping from left to right, i.e. incrementing x
You will be expanding the reagion at (x,y) only if
a) mask(x-1,y) is black (i.e. the previous pixel is in the region.
b) maks(x,y) is white (the current point is not in the region
c) color of image at (x,y) is similar to color of region
When you update the region you will
a) color the mask at (x,y) black
b) add the RGB from the image to TotalR,TotalG,TotalB in region
c) increase point count for the region
The point count for a region and the TotalR etc allow you to compute the average color of the region at any time. You can detect if a single pass changed anything by noticing if the pointCount changed between two passes
This algorithm is not particularly efficient, because you keep sweeping over the entire array, but it is easy to comprehend and easy to code.
Note: the hard part is determining a decent threshold for color similarity. everything else is very straight forward.

Plot empty point in line chart with previous non empty value

I have a problem to plot series data in SSRS line chart, with the empty point, I don't want use average and zero provided by the report builder, I want use the last non empty data to fill the empty point, tried to use expression =Previous(Field!Value), no
luck, any one have some good idea?
P.S. do not want to use query to fill the null with previous non null value, just from the performance point view. at last , the chart should have some line as square wave with different height, if I use average for empty point, it shows slop wave line which
is not reflect the real production.

In Reporting Services, if the chart type is a linear chart type (bar, column, scatter, line, area, range), null values are shown on the chart as empty spaces or gaps between data points in a series. By default, empty points are calculated by taking the average
of the previous and next data points that are not null.
If we want to use previous value to replace the empty value, please refer to the following steps:
Right-click the field which displayed in Y axis (Height) to open the Series Properties.
In the Value field to modify the expression to look like this:
=iif(isnothing(Sum(Fields!Height.Value)),previous(sum(Fields!Height.Value)),sum(Fields!Height.Value))

JavaFX, Display Line Chart with additional text

I am new to Java and JavaFX. I have been able to create a line chart that has four series using example code from the Oracle Javafx Documentation home. Below is the syntax used to create the line chart once the series info has been populated:
Scene scene = new Scene(lineChart,800,600);
lineChart.getData().addAll(series1, series2, series3, series4);
When I display the chart, I would also like to display additional text.
My chart measures four different averages by month. I would like to use the text to give more info about each series (ex: 6 month and 1 year total avg for each series). The Line Chart and the text that I want to add do not need to be related. I will calculate the 6 & 12 month avg and list it in the text separately.
I am struggling to find a way to display the line chart with a separate text field. If anyone can point me to some sample code that does something similar I would greatly appreciate it.

My data points in my line chart are an average for a single month for each series.
Ideally I would like a table as shown below centered under the Line Chart if possible (I was unable to use underscores or spaces to build the example. The + signs would really just be a line and the ' are used for spaces):

How to build a gantt chart with BI Publisher

Hi everybody, I need to create a gantt chart with BI Publisher. I had a look to the document "Getting Gantty" from the blog:

but I don't understand in which way:
1. build the data template in order to replicate the XML code in the article
2. build and link the yellow bar which dynamically increases its length according to the meeting duration
Anybody already tried to implement something similar ? I didn't still found a real example about how to do it......

Yes that is the only option which we can stop a running report in BI Publisher
I suspect you'll need to ask your DBA to kill the session.
However, if you have DBA privileges yourself, you can do this by a few methods, some of which are described here:

I need to create a Scatter Chart, with a text label for each data point instead of the xy coordinates. A legend will no longer be necessary.Also, I want to draw "cross-hair" lines on both the x and y axes centered on one particular data point.Any ideas?

I have the same problem here, did you find any solutions.
Here we are ok if the dimension is displayed in the scatter instead of the measurements but the only options i founds was "Show data" and that option displays the values of the xy.
pls let me know if anybody found any solution for this problem
