Avoid duplicate entry in XSLT

All,
version: 11.1.1.4
I have a requirement
Input xml:
*<document>*
*<ponum>1000</ponum>*
*<linenum>1</linenum>*
*<ponum>1000</ponum>*
*<linenum>2</linenum>*
*</document>*
Output:
*<document>*
*<ponum>1000</ponum>*
*<linenum>1</linenum>*
*<linenum>2</linenum>*
*</document>*
i.e If in the input xml if the ponum is same for both the lines I need my output to be like mentioned before i.e removing the duplicate.If the ponum is different I need to output as it is, for ex:
Input xml with diff ponum:
*<document>*
*<ponum>1000</ponum>*
*<linenum>1</linenum>*
*<ponum>1001</ponum>*
*<linenum>2</linenum>*
*</document>*
In this case, my output should be same. How do i remove duplicate in xslt? Please help
thanks
sen

Hi Sen,
The input xml structure make things really difficult...
If you had something like this in your input
<document>
     <poline>
          <ponum>1000</ponum>
          <linenum>1</linenum>
     </poline>
     <poline>
          <ponum>1000</ponum>
          <linenum>2</linenum>
     </poline>
</document>Then it would be easy to solve using fn:distinct-values...
If modifying the input xml is not an option at all, you will have to rely on elements positions to eliminate duplications...
Cheers,
Vlad

  • To avoid duplicate entries in multi row

    Hi i need to avoid duplicate entries in multi record form.In the master block i have AGENCY CODE.These are the fields, RATING_CODE(composite primary key alng with AGENCY_CODE in the detail block,but set as hidden) and DESCRIPTION
    in the detail block.If AGENCY_CODE is CRISIL,then for that i should not enter duplicate RATING CODES.I have written
    DECLARE
         L_COUNT2 NUMBER;
         l_ret varchar2(20);
    BEGIN
         SELECT COUNT(*) INTO L_COUNT2 FROM CSTM_AGENCY_CODE_DETAIL
    WHERE AGENCY_CODE=:BLK_CSTM_AGENCY_CODE_DETAIL.AGENCY_CODE
    AND RATING_CODE=:BLK_CSTM_AGENCY_CODE_DETAIL.RATING_CODE;
    IF L_COUNT2 > 0 THEN
              l_ret := ovpkcs.fn_dispmsg('AGYCOD-03;',';',';');
    Raise Form_Trigger_Failure;
    END IF;
    END;
    in WHEN_VALIDATE_ITEM.
    Now when i press the TAB to move next time it gives the message,DUPLICATE RATING CODE.The
    problem is when i move back to the previous record by clicking mouse and change it to the already existing value,and while i save the validation is not happening and the message is not shown.Kindly tell me where i should code.
    Thank you

    hy,
    you can check whan commit( an save button)
    for i = 1 to n-1
    check condition (item = item +1)
    next_record
    end
    or by stored insert whit exception return to form program when duplicate key is found

  • How do I "avoid" duplicate calendar entries on my devices?

    I have an iPod touch, an iPhone 4, an iPad 2 and a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.2.  My software/IOS is up to date on all devices.  My main calendar is my Google Calendar.  Whenever I sync, my devices show multiple double calendar entries.  Now, I have found a large amount of information on removing the duplicate entries which has been helpful.  However, I am having difficulty finding an answer as to how to eliminate this in the future.  What I want is to be able to go into iCal, on any of my devices, and see the same calendar (which it appears I currently can) without ever having double entries for the same events.  How do I need to have it set up?  Yes, I have searched ad nauseum; but, I can't find my answer.  Maybe I am just incompetent.  Any help and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    O.K., first, thanks for the response Mistimp.  Here is my specific situation, my google calendar is my "main" calendar and is what populates iCal.  I hope that makes sense.  I want to be able to make calendar entries on any device either in iCal or Google.  I believe I can do that.  I'll have to check further.  If I'm not mistaken, the duplicate entries show up every time I sync.  Then, I have to go through the process of turning off a calendar and then re adding it. I want to avoid that step and just avoid duplicate entries forever.

    How to avoide multiple duplicate entries in adress book? I can add the same contact name and number more than twice and the phone isn't warning me at all!!! I's quite a heck for me.

    not possible from inside AB AFAIK. but you can do the following. in finder open the folder /users/username/library/application support/address book/metdata. switch to the list mode and sort by date modified. quicklook the vcards at the top to see which ones they are.

  • Every time I sync my iCal computer with my iPhone 4 or iPad, duplicate entries are generated on both systems. What am I doing wrong or how can I avoid the duplications?

    Every time I sync my iCal on my computer through iTunes with my iPhone 4 or iPad, duplicate entries are generated on both systems. What am I doing wrong or how can I avoid the duplications? I have been doing this for several years and this problem is a more recent issue, like in the last 6 months. I have been deleting the duplicate entries, on both systems, but some duplicates reappear through "general" entries that are connected to the correct color for a Calendar, but not the name. I am going nuts and wasting tons of hours trying to get the 3 calendars to sync without generating duplicate entries.

    Choose one of the Calenders on ONE of the computers OR the MobileMe as the Master / correct account.
    The REINITAILISE the data of MobileMe within preferences on the computer defining the datatransfer correctly (in the advanced box of preferences). The synchronise iphone contacts and calender directly on-line to MobileMe.
    I posted a question on this today, and gave my own reply !

  • Trick to remove duplicate entries from tables ?

    hi.
    i have 53tables which are having duplicate entries and names of all 53 tables r listed in top_t table ?
    can any1 provide me solution to show and if possible ask for remove of those duplicates entries from each table if required ?
    daily i am removing duplicates manually ....its too tedious now !
    can any1 help me out ?

    Well, I suppose if the duplication is such that
    SELECT DISTINCT * FROM tablename;gives you the required result, then you could have a procedure that made a copy of the table, deleted/truncated the original, then inserted the distinct values back into it.
    In 10g you could even use flashback to avoid the temp copy - but it also means you can't use TRUNCATE so whether it's any more efficient I'm not sure. But just for fun and since it's urgent:

  • Duplicate entries missing using for all entries in select query.

    Hi Gurus,
    Is there any way to avoid missing duplicate entries in an internal table if you use for all entries in select statement?
    Note : i am selecting two tables using non key fields and i have to aggregate the data. I want only 2 data fields and one amount field in my final internal table. I can add all the primary key fields into my internal table and collect my required fields in another table, but  I just want to know is there any other way to avoid missing duplicate entries without adding all the key fields?
    Regards,
    Raghavendra

    Hi,
    Just check what are the other possible fields in the table which may be having
    duplicate entries and make use of them in the selection accordingly.
    You may not miss any entries unless there is any restriction on them.
    You can better judge that in debugging mode while selecting data from that table.

  • ABAP Querry Duplicate entries

    I have an ABAP querry which was created using SQ01 that display some vendor, invoice and PO information. When I Execute this Querry it brings up all entries for different line items in the PO for an Invoice related to a vendor. As I am not displaying the line item information in the final output this result in duplicate entries which give the same information.
      Is there a way to avoid these duplicate entries??
    Any input is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Please check
    the join conditions for the query in SQ02. Inner Joint or Outer joint as per your requirement and the join should be made with the correct fields
    if the join conditions are fine, it means that there is no sufficient input in order to filter and get your output
    Suppose if you want to code, you can insert the code for each output field.

  • Duplicate entries in SQ01

    Hi,
    I was trying to get a Business Partners with active Budget billing plan. But when I used SAP query(Used Table Join - BUT000 & EABP), its showing duplicate entries also.
    For example: If i am giving a BP number as selection criteria, its showing multiple entries for the same BP. I checked in table level, there the number of values are less and no duplicate entries.
    Please guide me how to avoid this.
    thanks
    Vipin KV
    SAP ISU Functional Consultant

    hi vipin,
    are you using inner join statement and you have joined using the key PARTNER and GPART?
    if the problem persist can you try with select query because the data element are different..
    hope it helps...

    Please go to the following website:-
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/06/aafd54fc4011d195280000e8353423/content.htm

    <b>Deleting Adjacent Duplicate Entries</b>
    To delete adjacent duplicate entries use the following statement:
    DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATE ENTRIES FROM <itab>
                                      [COMPARING <f1> <f 2> ...
                                                 |ALL FIELDS].
    Then  please go to the last example  where the code is written as :-
    DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM ITAB COMPARING ALL FIELDS.
    IS  THIS CORRECT ?
    Regards
    abaper.learner

    Hi learner,
    <b>Deleting a sequence of lines</b>
    DO 101 TIMES.
    DELETE TAB_DEST INDEX 450.
    ENDDO.
    DELETE TAB_DEST FROM 450 TO 550.
    <b>Deleting a set of lines</b>
    LOOP AT TAB_DEST
      WHERE K = KVAL.
    DELETE TAB_DEST.
    ENDLOOP
    DELETE TAB_DEST WHERE K = KVAL.
    <b>DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES</b>
    As with the ORDER BY clause it could be better to avoid using SELECT DISTINCT, if some of the fields are not part of an index. Instead use ABAP SORT + DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES on an internal table, to delete duplicate rows.
       LOOP AT TAB1.
        READ TABLE TAB2 INDEX SY-TABIX.
          IF TAB1 <> TAB2.

    The way i try to avoid such exception is as followed (I will simply ignored the duplicate exception due to the nature of my program.):
    public void addToZipFile()
        try
            //some code here
        catch(ZipEntry ex)
            String msg = ex.getMessage();
            if(msg.indexOf("duplicate") > 0)
                  //ignored such error
            else
                 throw ex;
    }Is the above method a right implementation to deal with the duplicate entry exception ? Any suggestion ?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
    As i said the files i try to zip are resided in different folder , so they can have the same filename.... And due to the nature of my program ..... i add only one of those repeated files.....and it satisfy my requirement .... it is too troublesome to explain why i only add one of those repeated file.
    I just try to find out is the way i handle the exception is correct ?
    thanks

  • Avoiding duplicates in JTree

    I am trying to avoid duplicates in a JTree and don't think I should have to loop through all the objects and compare them for every new entry. I would like find a way to compare the label of an existing object with the one I'm about to add to the tree.
    I'm trying to use getIndexOfChild method instead of looping. The method as it is now is doesn't work. I've tried type casting and toString, but haven't found the correct combo.
    Thanks....
    public void refreshHostTree(JTree mytree, ArrayList myhostnodes) {
    // duplicates have already been accounted for
    // when the host list was built.
    DefaultTreeModel mymodel = (DefaultTreeModel)mytree.getModel();
    Object myroot = mymodel.getRoot();
    System.out.println("root is "+myroot);
                   for (int i=0; i < myhostnodes.size(); i++) {
    // update with new node
    DefaultMutableTreeNode curnode = new DefaultMutableTreeNode(myhostnodes.get(i));
    if((mymodel.getIndexOfChild(myroot,curnode) < 0 )) {
    System.out.println("object to add is "+curnode);
    mymodel.insertNodeInto(curnode,(DefaultMutableTreeNode)myroot,0);
    }

    I looked through many posts before posting this question. Could you send me a reference or what u searched on?
    As for your questions......
    1. Can unique nodes be duplicated in other nodes of the tree?
    - yes and no. No for the tree I'm working on now, yes for the tree on the next tabbedpane I'm populating.
    1.a If yes, can a node be a child of itself?
    - no. I don't want it to be at least...
    2. How many nodes total in the tree?
    - for my project, maximum of 500. Probably will put them in a paged scroll pane.
    3. How many average children does a node have?
    - depends on how young the sampled group started having children????
    3.a What is the maximum number of children a node can have?
    - I'm sure my 500 is below the limit, but only testing will tell.
    4. Once the tree is built is it static?
    - no. It doesn't have to be. There are good examples of this.
    5. How slow is too slow?
    - real time is a relative term! I'm trying to be more efficient with doing it this way instead of looping through all the nodes of the tree. I'm also hard headed and think that there should be an easy way to do this.
    Thanks
