AVReceive2 -  Q about the ip address given as input

Hi
I've managed to understand a bit of AVReceive2.java and AVTransmit2.java , but there is one thing that's unclear to me .
The transmitter sends the stream to a specific ip:port , and the receiver should know in my opinion only the port on which he should listen to receive the stream . But as i've seen the Receiver needs as input session(s) (ip/port) , and in the [web-page where u get the receiver sample from |http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/AVReceive.html] it says the ip is "the address of the computer which transmits the data" and i assume the port is the one on the receiver's machine on which he'll get the streams on .
The thing is i've tested it on localhost and as well between localhost and a VM and no matter what ip you specify as the input for a session to the receiver , if the port is correct , the receiver gets the stream . So my question is what is the ip address in the session for ? and who's ip address is ? and why does it work even if the ip address is not set correctly (in case the address would be the transmitter's ip as they say) ... ?
thanks for any suggestions and for reading this

The transmitter sends the stream to a specific ip:port , and the receiver should know in my opinion only the port on which he should listen to receive the stream . RTP packets are carried via UDP packets, which are a connectectionless transmission packet. What that means, basically, is that you can receive packets from more than one remote host simultaniously on the same local port...
But as i've seen the Receiver needs as input session(s) (ip/port) , and in the [web-page where u get the receiver sample from |http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/AVReceive.html] it says the ip is "the address of the computer which transmits the data"
Right. In the case that 2 streams were being received on the same port, you'd need to tell JMF which one to play...
and i assume the port is the one on the receiver's machine on which he'll get the streams on .Technically no. The port you give it is the port on which the sender's machine is sending the data. The IP/PORT combo is matched against the source ip / port of the UDP packets...
In this case, the AVTransmit2 code is designed to send from the port it's sending to, so the source port of the UDP packet will have the same value as the destination port of the UDP packet...
So, in summary, the source and destination ports can be different, or they can be the same. You need to give the source port to AVReceive...
?I've tested this between 2 machines in the past, and if you don't give the correct address, you won't receive the stream. More than likely, because you're using localhost & a VM, it's just considering all of your IP addresses to be equivolent...
127.0.0.1 = localhost = 192.168.x.x, etc...
So you should test this between 2 actual machines with different IP addresses, and see what you come up with.

It sounds like you are talking about an iPhone that has been Activation Locked.  This article explains:

If so, the iPhone can never be unlocked without the original Apple ID and password.  This is an anti-theft measure.

I installed an Extreme in place of an old Express, the various phones and Ipads seem to work on the WiFi but the Mac itself will not connect.  It says something about the IP address being used by another device.  Second wifi network was also created.  The Mac worked for a few minutes and then gaev up citing eth IP problem......any clues people??

If you have not already done so, now would be a good time to perform a complete network power cycle.......to give everything a fresh start.
Power off every device on the network.....computers, printers, hard drives, etc......in any order that you want
    Wait a full minute
Start the modem, and let it run by itself for 2-3 minutes
Start the next device connected to the modem and let it run a full minute
Keep starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until the entire network is back up
    Check the network

  • Questionb about the site address in navigation bar

    Hi there,
I am using iweb to create my website, have a .mac account so using that to host the site. I did get a domain name with godaddy.com and have my site forwarded to my .mac account address.
To be clearer, my website address is http://www.mikkelinadesigns.com
when it redirects, it goes to this address:
    http://web.mac.com/mikkelina/iWeb/MikkelinaDesigns/Mikkelina%20Designs.html
that's WAY too long and I think would confuse visitors. Can I rename/shorten the address or even keep www.mikkelinadesigns.com in the navbar? I might be doing something wrong here (I hope so).
If not, I may need to have godaddy also host my site, but I wanted to first find out all my options before I do this. Thanks!!
    Michele

You can start by getting rid of the %20s as iWeb's Help suggests...
Browsers convert spaces in site names to "%20." To avoid these symbols, use an underscore, hyphen, or some other character instead of a space. Also avoid non-Roman characters; many get converted to numbers when you publish.
Other characters aren't recommended for use in website names, including: forward and backward slashes (/ \), brackets ([ ]), tilde (~), exclamation point , question mark (?), "at" sign (@), number sign (#), dollar sign ($), ampersand (&), asterisk (*), colon (:), equal sign (=), comma (,), and double quotation marks ("). Using these characters may result in names with strange numbers in them.

  • Q about the site address itself

    Currently, I'm http://web.mac.com/mmpaiva
I would like to be able to just be mmpaiva.com or something akin.
Is there a way to be less cumbersome and easy to remember and access for other folks?

I am in the process of that too. You need to purchase and registar a domain name. www.yourname.com and have your iweb pages use that instead.

  • My Foscam IP Camera "times out" after one day - the IP address changes

    Hey All,
I'm trying to set up my Foscam 8918 camera.  I'm not so much concerened about being able to view it remotely as i can't even get the local (home) setup to work successfully for more than a day.
As far as I undertand it my IP address is dynamic and changes every day and I have to manually go into the foscam app and change the Local Camera Address 10.0.1.XX
Is there a way I can give the camera a static IP address?  I've tried the port forwarding as instructed on this forum and I can't get it to connect.
Everything works until the IP address changes and then the camera times out.
    Thanks for any insight.
I'm using the brand new apple router (the tower)
I'm using FoscamPro app on iphone 4S and ipad 2

In case you do want to be able to access your Foscam IP camera from the Internet. Note: I don't have this exact camera model, but the following worked for mine.
    Camera Setup Part 1
Plug the camera into your router with your ethernet cable
Log onto the camera using the IP address given by the IP camera tool (IPCT) using the default login given on the bottom of the camera.
Choose Device Management, and then, Wireless LAN Settings.
Find your wireless network and input the login info.
    The camera should now reset
802.11n AirPort Extreme (AEBSn) Setup (Note: I am assuming that you will be using version 6.x of the AirPort Utility from the iPad.)
Start the AirPort Utility > Select the (AEBSn) > Edit > Advanced > DHCP and NAT
Verify that the Router Mode = DHCP and NAT
From the DHCP and NAT window > Reservations > New Reservation...
Enter anything you like for the Description field.
    Reserve address by: MAC Address
MAC Address: Enter the wireless MAC address of the IP camera
IPv4 Address: Enter the desired IP address you want reserved as a "Static IP" address for the camera. This address must be within the DHCP range of your AirPort. By default, this range is: 10.0.1.2 - 10.0.1.200.
    Click Done
Go to the Advanced window > Port Settings > New Entry...
    Entry Type: IPv4
Description: Leave blank or enter a desired description.
    Public UDP Port(s): 8888
    Public TCP Port(s): 8888
Private IP Address: Enter the Static IP address you created above.
    Private UDP Port(s): 8888
    Private TCP Port(s): 8888
    Click Done
    Allow the AEBSn to reset.
    Camera Setup Part 2
Use the IPCT utility to obtain the network configuration settings.
Right (or Option)-click the IP address given in IPCT and choose Network Configuration.
Note these values. You may want to write them down.
Log onto the camera via a web browser, like Safari.
Go to Device Management > Basic Network Settings
    Uncheck the box.
    Input the settings from IPCT.
Verify that the port numbers used are the same as what you entered in the AirPort Utility's Port Mapping option.
    Allow the camera to reset.
    Optional, but recommended
Setup a Dynamic DNS account. This would take care of the issue of having a Dynamic WAN IP address that your ISP provides you. I would recommend DynDNS.
    Go to  https://www.dyndns.com/account/services/hosts/add.html
You will want to just set up a basic account.ollow the directions for setting up a basic account.
Once the account is set up, you will want to choose a web address to map directly to your camera. The Dynamic DNS service will assign a web address that will link to your Dynamic WAN IP address. The web address will stay the same even if the IP address changes.
When accessing the camera from a remote location, just tag on the port number to the web address. As as example, if the web address DynDNS assigns you is: www.myaddress.com, you would enter: www.myaddress.com:8888 into the web browser's address bar to access your camera.
Your camera should now be ready for both wireless access on your local network and from the Internet.

  • How to fetch the BCC address using java mail

    Hi,
I want to extract the mail address given in the Bcc address field of an email which I fetch it from the IMAP store !!
I will be very much thankful if this problem is solved !!
    Thanks!!

You can read the Bcc addresses just like the To and Cc addresses. But.... Note that Bcc addresses
won't be present in any message you receive; if you could see the Bcc addresses it wouldn't be a
blind carbon copy. If you create a message with Bcc addresses and save that message in your
"Sent Items" folder, you'll be able to read the Bcc addresses in that message.

  • Is there a way to personalize the eprint address?

I just got a Photosmart Premium All-in-One printer, and it's great, but I have a question about the ePrint address it spit out:
I was wondering if I could somehow manually change it to something else (e.g., [email protected]).  The randomly generated ePrint address is a bit unwieldy.
If anyone knows, your help/input is appreciated!

    Thanks for the response.
I hope that they make this an option in the [near] future; as I said, I think the randomly generated ePrint address is unwieldy and not easy to commit to memory.

  • DNS addresses (master and slave) + personalizing the url address

    Hello.
My name is Fernando and I published my site using MobileMe (www.fernandoingles.com).
    It’s working already really well.
But since I’m from Brazil, I built one in Portuguese as well.
And since the common site endings here are .br I’m trying to purchase the www.fernandoingles.com.br as well but in order to be able to actually buy the site I have to give them two DNS addresses of the place I’m publishing the website with.
    (one ‘Master’ and one ‘Slave’).
How can I get those addresses?
And another thing is that I also have my bands site’s published under my main domain name (fernandoingles.com) with my main MobileMe account (but I have the family pack now).
    [www.pipeusa.net and www.pipebrasil.com]
I purchased those Urls using GoDaddy and they are all properly forwarded already, which means that when the person types those addresses above it already goes to the correct site.
But what shows on the actual url above is (http://www.fernandoingles.com/fernandoingles.com/Pipe.html).
And what I would like to appear is only the addresses (www.pipeusa.net and www.pipebrasil.com) instead of my name before them.
I bought the family pack so that I would have more space and etc... and already put those addresses ((www.pipeusa.net and www.pipebrasil.com and fernandoingles.com.br) as their main domain.
But since I’m publishing them all using my own iWeb how could I make those extra sites work as their own main sites?
Would it work if I log in with the desired MobileMe sub-account (let’s say www.pipeusa.net) and then go to iWeb, move that site to the top and them publish it?

Thank you so much for the response!
Great option on the added accounts!!
Since I manage all those sites myself could I manage them all within the same 'log in' or each and every time I need to make a change on one of those sites I must 'log out' of whatever account I'm in and then 'log in' into the account that the change needs to be made?
And whenever I 'log in' into those accounts (the ones that have the respective domains) should I replace on iWeb before I publish the top site with the one I want to as the main domain or can I just not do anything at all?
And about the DNS address issue,
Since I’m from Brazil, I always build two sites, one in Portuguese and one in English.
And since the common site endings here in Brazil are '.br' I’m trying to purchase the '.br' option of all the addresses I have as well but in order to be able to actually buy the site I have to give them two DNS addresses of the place I’m publishing the website with.
    (one ‘Master’ and one ‘Slave’).
How can I get those addresses?"
Thank you so much for the help!!!!

    s.command,
    s.machine,
    s.terminal,
    p.spid,

  • Changing the IP Address

Wanted to find out from where does the Oracle Server gets the information about the IP Address of the machine. Does it take the IP Address from the OS directory or do we need to specify somewhere in its settings?
We need to change all ip addresses in our network. We have Oracle 8i database server with around 20 clients. If I am not wrong I just need to change the ipaddreses in the respective machines(windows clients and Linux server) and the tnsnames.ora on the client machines. No other change should be required. Is it OK? Pl let me know if anything need to be changes in the Oracle Server configuration or if any other issue is involved in the same?

one way I know is to set it up so that you only have to change it one place. If you are using DNS for your hostname lookup and you had entered the name of your oracle server (not ip address) in tnsnanmes.ora(client side), then just change the ip address of the server where your oracle app resides at in DNS. otherwise you will have to go to the client and changes the entry in tnsname.ora to point to the new oracle server. You will also need to change it on the server side as well. Hope this helps.

  • Sent laptop in for repair, the address given was WRONG!

I sent my laptop in for repair the begining of February. When I recieved the box to ship my laptop off it came with instructions on packaging and shipping procedures. The address I was given to sen my laptop said is it an HP Repair Center and has been recieved at this address and sign for per tracking number, Hp says they have not recieved it, because it is not at the right location. I call every 24-48 hours as directed for a solution to this problem as I am told.
I always wanted an hp laptop. Never could afford one and received this as a christmas present. I am so upset about this and Im getting very frustrated! I did exactly as the instructions said and sent it where is said to be sent and no one is helping with this issue. I still have the instruction paper that states the address but keep getting told it is not a repair center and that it is the wrong address.
I was told over and over not to send it in for repair because there are always issues with something happening to peoples products, but I took the chance anyways. I really wish I didn't now!!!
WHAT DO I DO??? PLEASE HELP!!!

    @meljohnston ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

  • How do I get FF to work with Mod Organizer (for mods used with ES: Skyrim)? I get an error message that it can't understand the address given.

I am an avid Elder Scrolls fan and am using the new STEP 2.2.9 setup. They've gone to Mod Organizer (MO) and I cannot seem to get my FF working with the download mod portion of things. I click the "earth" icon, which takes me immediately to the Nexus Mod files page but when I choose a file to download after clicking "Download with Manager" I get this error message:
    The address wasn't understood
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (nxm) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.
You might need to install other software to open this address.
The address given, when clicking "Download with Manager" begins with nxm://Skyrim/mods/ The address is such due to trying to download with the manager.
Any help will be greatly appreciated! I've pulled my hair out for the last few hours trying to find a fix. I've disabled Adblock, all other popup blockers and enabled the main address in my exception rules. It's just not working. Ugh!
    Thank you in advance!

In order to use ''nxm://'' links, Nexus Mod Manager must be installed and associated with the ''nxm'' protocol.
