Azure deployment process: where is my ".war" compiled?
Hi,
We're evaluating Azure PaaS, for a java web application.
We are trying to figure out where is the '.war' file compiled & packaged? Because we have a complex customized maven file (pom), using tricks such as automatically-generated source code. But the *final* product in a standard ".war" understandable
to any Servlet Container with no assumption or dependencies.
So the question please: what's the Azure deployment process 'under the hood'?
1) Will it try to run "mvn package" on the cloud VM, which might fail due to the complexity of the maven file.
2) Or will it just take the final "war" from my machine (not caring how the war was created) and copy it to the VM. Which is best for us.

after deployed, we can use RDP to the Virtual Machine and see the files, if you find the files that was important with the application but not in this VM, we can consider copy it to the VM (every instances muse be the same). Hope this helps, if you find

<web-module id="SimpleServlet" path="../../home/applications/SimpleServlet.war" />
3] To make this module accessible from over the web, I have modified file
<ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\config\default-web-site.xml and added following entry:
<web-app application="SimpleServlet" name="SimpleServlet" root="/SimpleServlet"/>
4] I saved both the files and started Oracle HTTP Server and accessed page as below:
http://<server>:7777/SimpleServlet/Simple
where Simple is servlet in SimpleServlet.war file.
In the browser, The page cannot be found is shown to user. I have verified that SimpleServlet.war is extracted to SimpleServlet folder under <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\applications folder. I found that Simple.class is stored under WEB-INF/classes folder and web.xml contains correct entry for url pattern for servlet Simple.
What else could be the problem? Am I placing the war file in wrong place or modifying application.xml or default-web-site.xml in a wrong directory?
This is very urgent. Please help me with your valuable comments on this.

SandeshHave you restarted you http server and then tried to load it again? Are you using the right port; maybe you have to use port 7778? Check you server settings in the http server instance. Also check your url binding of you application at Farm > Application Server: infrastructurehost > OC4J_instance > Application: appname > Web Module: modulename

Deployed processes not showing in BPEL Console
I am working on a processes that uses AQ to interface with a Oracle back end application.
It seemed to work fine, but from a certain moment on it didn't pick up any messages that were qeueued. Except for the first instance of the process. Though the monitor showed it waiting for the response, the process had actually received the response and had proceeded with the next step (in which a file was written to a directory, as I could see). Then it stopped. All subsequent processes stopped after queueing an input message.
After stopping and starting the BPEL Process Manager and OC4J container things went from bad to worse. Now none of the deployed processes are visible in the monitor. However, if I look at a previous instance of a process, it does show up on the dashboard.
I've had a look at the application log of the orabpel OC4J application and it shows a lot of errors (of the same sort) since BEPL Process Manager was stopped. Restarting the Application Server didn't help.
This is the error I'm getting:

I took one of the application servers out of the cluster and began working on it in a standalone state.
The Setup, OracleAS Middle Tier with BPEL:
1. The Application server sits on an internal network that has access to the outside world but restricted incoming access.
2. There is an Apache server running mod_proxy that acts as a reverse proxy for all requests to http://workflow/. http://workflow/ connects the requests to http://servername:7797/, where BPEL is running.
This works to get connectivity to the Application Server. We want the WSDL Location to start with http://workflow/ insead of http://servername:7797/ so we can eventually use a clustered load balancing environment.
I found out that the processes are not showing up in the BPEL Dashboard when I change, soapCallbackUrl and soapServerUrl to http://workflow/. They will not show up until I actually navigate to the WSDL file using teh http://workflow beginning. After which they show up in the BPEL Dashboard. However, on a OC4J_BPEL restart they all disappear again.
Everything works if I use the http://servername:7797/ beginning for WSDLs, but this will not work for the overall implementation.
How can I change soapCallbackUrl and soapServerUrl to http://workflow and still use the BPEL Dashboard? -
Can deploy process but not workflow (10.1.3.10 beta)
I tried to deploy several of the demo BPEL processes, but each time the process is deployed successfully, but the workflow is not. Fro example OrderApproval.
I tried setting properties in the build.properties file, but apparently to no avail. Also changing them via the project ant properties did not help.
It looks like the payload JSP did not get deployed -- most of the process works, including the workflow bit, as long as one does not try to look into the worklist entry contents (which gives the 404 Not Found error, same as in the 10.1.2 version when the JSP page is not in the proper directory of hw/worklistexpress).
I noticed some strange behavior in the build properties as stored in the project file (OrderApproval.jpr). There are a lot of equivalent ("fromjdev") entries in the oracle.jdeveloper.ant.AntRunConfiguration hash table. Also, each time after I run a deploy, the value for oc4jinstancename is removed and a corresponding <null/> entry shows up in the file. I tried cleaning up redundant fromjdev entries, but it did not help.
Also hard coding the oc4jinstancename attribute to soademo did not help.
Any suggestions on how to fix the build? See below for a log; I added printing of the deploy attributes to the build.xml file.

</hash>When I change the rmi ports to 23793 via the project properties and save, they get updated correctly in the .jpr file. However, the deploy still fails, because somehow JDeveloper resets the values back to 23791 (just as it routinely wipes out the oc4jinstancename) and writes them to the .jpr file.
How can I make the new value 'stick'?
I tried changing the port of the LocalBPELApplicationServer from 23791 to 23793 but got:

Deployed processes stopped showing up in BPEL console
Hello,
Our BPEL processes stopped picking up business events; BPEL console dashboard is empty. After, restarting oc4j_soa instance on secondary node, BPEL process picked up business events. After few minutes, BPEL process showed in console.
After one day, BPEL processes disappeared from console.
Following is the error message, I see in soa_err*.log on all nodes after the last successful pick up.

SivaI ran into a BPEL_OC4J_SOAP_Provider error today and it was related to my proxy. The proxy on my local machine with JDeveloper would allow a WSDL with an unqualified name through. For instance, the machine kronos:7779 would validate, compile, and deploy from my machine. But looking up the WSDL on the server would produce the above described error. When I changed the name of the server to kronos.whatever.com:7779 it worked as expected on the server.

We are starting new release where developers would be working on different projects. i have a some ANT scripts which use WLST script to export single project, created jar file and place them into a specific location.
For import, the script looks at a specific location, reads config.jar from that location, and imports that config into target environment. Now with multiple projects and each developer will deliver their own config.jar. How to handle that in WLST. I am not sure if the current approach i am using that any good to handle multiple projects deployment.
Anyone could give some pointers or helpful hints?
we are on version 10.0 and wont be moving to 10gR3 where we could use ANt to build config.jar from .metadata so not sure.
I want to know what other projects are doing etc!

Hi there,
When deploying a process flow, what happens exactly ? I know deploying a mapping creates a db-package, but i can't find anything in my database referring to the deployed process flow.
After deploying a number of process flows and renaming them a couple of times, I'd like to remove the previously deployed processflows.
How and where can I do that ?

I'm not 100% sure, but I guess that OWB deploys process flows using a java method oracle.apps.fnd.wf.WFXLoad.
Deployed workflows can be queried using the view OWF_MGR.WF_RUNNABLE_PROCESSES_V
If you want to clean up using Deployment Manager you
1) create a process flow package TEST with a valid process flow TEST (connect start and end activities)
2) rename the process flow package TEST to the ITEM_TYPE name from the view above
3) Deploy using Deploy Action=Drop
4) repeat steps 2) - 3) for each package you want to drop
5) Delete the TEST package in the main OWB window
By the way, when you deploy with Action=Create, you get an additional version of your process flow and the previous is outdated. When you use Action=Replace, all previous versions are deleted and a new process is created with VERSION=1.

Application Deployment Process
Hi,
I am looking for a definition of a standard application deployment process for J2EE servers. Maybe I missed this information in the specifications, if so, please point me to the right chapter.
To become a bit more concrete, I am searching for information on if there is a specification on what happens on deployment/startup, i.e., where the entry points are that objectes of an application are created, hence, if the application can be made aware of being "started" by the application server.
If there is no such general process, maybe someone could help out with specific information on either sun's server or Tomcat.

My general problem is, that I mostly find the typical information on how to use servlets etc. Just, I do not want to start my application after the invokation of a servlet but on deployment time (i.e., when my application gets deployed to and started by the Java Application Server) and wondered, if there is a standard process besides simply loading the applications classes and making the server aware of new URLs. -

We're implementing Service manager and we have an issue with the reporting management packs.
Upon opening the Service manager console we're getting the error:
"The report deployment process in in progress. To determine when management pack deployment is complete, see the procedure in the service manager deployment guide. You can view reports after management packs have been deployed."
I've consulted the guide and the MPsyncjobs tasks runs and completes in under 1 minute, the Get-SCDWJob command returns the following:

BPEL server and java crashes while accessing a deployed process in console

I am running BPEL developer version on my local machine (win xp ). If I try to run a deployed process from my BPEL console by clicking on the process name, an Unexpected error dialog box pops up saying Java has encountered an unexpected error. After that the broser as well as the BPEL server window crashes. I have tried both IE and netscape.
Can someone help as this is completely preventing me to test my deployed processes.
ThanksNaah, I said, that will never work. But to my shock and (pleasant) surprise, it does! Here is a snippet of a little routine I cobbled together using LabVIEW for both the Writer and the Reader.
The Writer is on top. It creates a Temp.txt file on my Temp directory, deletes it if it is already there, then opens it for writing. There's a boolean "Done" flag that tells me when the Writer finishes, so I clear it before entering the Writing Loop. Here, every half-second, I write the sequential numbers 0 .. 9, with a New Line to create a Text File of Lines. When I'm finished, I close the file.
Below this is the Reader Loop, designed to start after the Writer Loop has opened (and created) the file. Here we open the same file in Read-Only mode. The Reader Loop also goes 10 times (I could have built in a Stop condition, but this is only a Proof-of-Concept). The loop is initialized with the current File Position (0) in a Shift Register. The inner While Loop is a "Wait for Data to Appear", a loop which checks 10 times a second to see if the File Position has changed, exiting when it does (meaning the Writer has Written Something). It then reads a line from the File (the Read Text function has its "Read Lines" property set) and displays it.
When you run this, you will see the Reader's output, Line, count up, 0 .. 9, and then the program stops with no errors. What fun!

I think all processes starts OK, I get one for .kas and one for kas, one for .kxs and one for kxs and finally one for .kjs and one for kjs.
Is someone familiar with this/these problem(s)?It seems you are deploying a very big application. Try to deploy this application with following command
j2eeappreg <filename>
It should work fine. It was a bug with iasdeploy command in iAS SP3 which had been fixed in iAS SP4. -
How to publish an own and deployed process? Via WSDL?

i'm kinda new to BPM and i got some questions. I've gone through some tutorials and created my own process. I build and deployed it, startet it through the NWA and tested it (mostly human activitys and mappings). Everything works fine but i'm facing some unsolved problems:
1. Is it possible to get the sourcecode of the deployed process from the repository? I've already downloaded the WSDL-file from the "Single Service Administration" and want to get the process itself too.
2. Within the "Services Registry" i published the deployed process. I imported this published WSDL within the process composer (import per Service Registry) and linked it in an automated activity, but it seems that the process can't invoke itself. Neither when i use the imported interface at the end-event it doesn't "restart". My question here is: can't a process invoke itself or does it just not work with the default wsdl? It would be intresting for me, if a process could invoke another process when it ends.
3. Is there any good tutorial how to create an own WSDL-file with the process composer? I haven't seen any yet.

thanks for your answer. I had already found the process in the web service navigator. I tested it there and it was ok. But i wasnt able to find it in the UDDI-registry, so i downloaded the WSDL-File from the "single service administration" and registered it in the UDDI-registry. I imported this published WSDL-file from the UDDI-registry within the process composer to be able to test if a process can invoke itself, but it didnt work. Than i tried a new process which only has an automated activity which trys to invoke my first process, but this doesn't seem to work too. I need to know how i can invoke another process within an automated task or at the end-event of a process. I think this could be helpfull if i want to create Sub-Process and route input and output data through it.
I also need to know how i can create my own WSDL-file for a process which i want to create with the process composer, because not every process i want to define has an empty start nor an empty end. Is there any good tutorial for this? Somebody also mentioned that he/she created an own WSDL-file with the PI server, but i dont know how to do that. It is also confusing when you got ~ten or more default services within the web service navigator.
