Azure Pack VM Clouds without System Center

We need a private cloud service for a small group of our users. I considered Windows Azure Pack, but it needs System Center which I think it's too much for our purpose.
Is there any simpler solution ?

No one knows ?
I have the same question.
Actually i am intersted in access to remote console without system center. Is it possible or not.

  • Azure Pack Private Cloud RDP GateWay Configuration Console Access

    Hello,
We are in the process of deploying the Azure Pack Private Cloud and have run into an issue with configuration of the Console Access.  We have been able to successfully configure the Console to work internally but external access is not functional.  When
a user attempts to connect from Windows 8.1 to the RDP Console via the Remote Desktop Services Gateway they are seeing the error:
An Authentication error has occurred (code 0x607)
    Internal access works flawlessly.
Environment: Windows Server 2012r2 Data Center, fully updated
    Windows Azure Pack RTM - Distributed Installation - 7 VMs - wapadmapi1, wapadmauth1, wapadmprtl1, waptenauth1, waptenprtl1, waptenpriapi1, waptenpubapi1

Wildcard Certificate has been assigned and RDP Gateway/VMM/SPF/Hyper-V have been configured as per http://www.hyper-v.nu/archives/mvaneijk/2013/09/windows-azure-pack-console-connect/ (PS this article needs to be updated because the set-scspfvmconnectglobalsettings
cmdlet doesn't work on RTM) and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/dn469415.aspx
    Thanks,
    Rick

No problem Dennis, as noted in the two articles I referenced above:
    http://www.hyper-v.nu/archives/mvaneijk/2013/09/windows-azure-pack-console-connect/  and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/dn469415.aspx
an RDP Gateway is required to connect the external user to the console access on the Hyper-V backend
server.  When the RDP file is downloaded it enables users to have more functionality than a standard RDP session and it also allows you access to internal resources, acting similar to a proxy.  I have checked the security logs and there is nothing
    that jumps out at me.
Here is an excerpt from the logs:
The user "FedAuthDomain\FedAuthUser", on client computer "CLIENT_EXT_IP", met connection authorization policy requirements and was therefore authorized to access the RD Gateway server. The authentication method used was: "Cookie" and connection protocol
    used: "HTTP".
The user "FedAuthDomain\FedAuthUser", on client computer "CLIENT_EXT_IP", met resource authorization policy requirements and was therefore authorized to connect to resource "HV_SERVER_INT_IP".
The user "FedAuthDomain\FedAuthUser", on client computer "CLIENT_EXT_IP", connected to resource "HV_SERVER_INT_IP". Connection protocol used: "HTTP".
The user "FedAuthDomain\FedAuthUser", on client computer "CLIENT_EXT_IP", disconnected from the following network resource: "HV_SERVER_INT_IP". Before the user disconnected, the client transferred 1254 bytes and received 1615 bytes. The client session duration
was 0 seconds. Connection protocol used: "HTTP".
I have removed the actual IP addresses from the logs but kept the user credentials that are being currently passed.  HV_SERVER_INT_IP = IP of Hyper-V Host, internal and CLIENT_EXT_IP = IP of client who is attempting to access.

  • Release Management Azure Pack (website cloud)

Is it possible to integrate Release Management 2013 with Azure Pack? (as in deploying to for example an on premise website cloud using the controls that Release Management provides?)

    Hi Kameel88,
    Thanks for your reply.
    According the information in this
document, we can download the publish file from Azure Pack web site to deploy TFS web application to Azure Pack, so I think you create the PowerShell script to run that publish file, and invoke/run this PS Script in your release template to complete the
    deploy. http://www.visualstudio.com/get-started/deploy-no-agents-vs.
For more information about deploy to Windows Azure Pack, please post in
Azure Pack forum for the better response.

  • Management pack version difference in System Center - Operations Manager 2012 R2 - Help us.

    Hi,
I have SC Operation manager 2012 r2 in my environment. It has managed with multiple management servers.
I have import some unsealed MPs through Ops SDK code and by manually using Operation manager console.
Here with i tried to install higher version of MPs and upgrade its version from 1.1.0.0 to 6.0.0.0.
    case 1:
After successful installation of some MPs and check Operation manager console, it showing newly upgraded version(6.0.0.0).
Then i have import that MP and checked its version inside it showing 1.1.0.0(older version).
Here the imported MP has 1.1.0.0 version and console showing its version as 6.0.0.0.
Why it showing different versions in imported MP(inside xml)  and Operations manager console view?
    case 2:
    After that i tried to import other MPs using console. But it showing below error;
    Verification failed with 1 errors:
    Error 1:
Found error in 2|Monitoring.ActiveDirectory_server|6.0.0.0|Monitoring.ActiveDirectory_server|| with message:
Could not load management pack [ID=Monitoring.Base, KeyToken=9e875220a3987e0b, Version=6.0.0.0]. The management pack was not found in the store.
: Version mismatch. The management pack ([Monitoring.Base, 9e875220a3987e0b, 1.1.0.0]) requested from the database was version 6.0.0.0 but the actual version available is 1.1.0.0.
Its happened in  multiple management servers scenario. So Is any possibility to happen because of multiple management servers scenario?. There is no issues in this same MPs while i tried in single management server. These same MPs are imported and working
fine in single management server scenario.
Help me to solve these 2 issues!!
    Thanks,
    satheesh

    1) At first, you should make sure that the imported MP has correct version. I will open the XML of the imported MP and check its current version e.g.
When you open the xml file of imported MP, the version number is shown as
    <Manifest>
        <Identity>
            <ID>Microsoft.SystemCenter.Visualization.Component.Library.Resources</ID>
            <Version>1.0.0.2</Version>
        <Identity>
        <Name>Resources library</Name>
        <References>
            <Reference Alias="System">
            <ID>System.Library</ID>
            <Version>1.0.0.1</Version>
From the above sample, the imported MP version number is 1.0.0.2.
    2) I am using operation console to import the management pack and check the version number in operations console whether it is updated to new version 1.0.0.2
    3) Using operations console to export the MP which has imported in step 1) and open it to check what is the version number of MP. Make sure that the version is 1.0.0.2
    4) If the above procedure provide a prefer match of version number, re-import all problematic MP.
    5) At last, you may use the following SQL to check whether the correct version number of MP is stored in DB successful
select version, friendlyname from managementpackview where friendlyname like 'Microsoft.SystemCenter.Visualizatio%'

  • SQL Cluster - Unable to obtain IP Address from System Center IP Pool

    Hi everyone,
we are trying to deploy a SQL cluster into a windows azure pack tenant cloud.
    Our azure pack environment contains:
    - 4X Hyper-V server in a failover cluster
    - 1X SCVMM server
    - multiple WAP server
    Steps we have done:
    -    Windows failover cluster is installed and configured successfully
    -    Quorum disk was configured successfully
    -    SQL server 2014 installation (via static IP) is successfully. But routing between the VMs is not possible.
    -    SQL server 2014 installation (via DHCP) fails at the end of the installation with following error:
-> We used DHCP to obtain an IP from the scvmm IP pool.

    Hi Darryl,
    thanks for your supply.
We don't have an DHCP in the Cloud. System Center DHCP is used for assigning IP addresses and routing inforamtion to the vms.
This works fine for assigning IP addresses to the vms.
At my current point of understanding network virtualisation with system Center, we do not have an alternative to this way of assigning IP addresses.
    Kind Regards

  • Error message while upgrading to System Center 2012 R2 Orchestrator

I recently tried upgrading System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 Orchestrator to System Center 2012 R2 Orchestrator on a Windows Server 2012 instance, running in VMware Workstation. According to the Microsoft TechNet documentation, you basically remove all of
the Service Pack 1 Orchestrator components, and then install the new R2 Orchestrator components.
    Management Service
    Runbook Service
    Orchestrator console and web service
So, that's what I did. When it got to the point of running the Orchestration Console and Web Service installation, it failed.
The relevant portion of WebComponents.msi log file indicates the following:
    MSI (s) (10:A8) [10:52:15:669]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\Windows\Installer\MSIC647.tmp, Entrypoint: WriteIIS7ConfigChanges

So far, I have tried removing IIS and reinstalling it completely from scratch. That has made zero impact on the problem thus far. I posted this same issue over at

For anyone else, you may need to reset any failed jobs statusid back to 3 after you run the script from
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn299381.aspx (first
    issue)
and after that run your jobs in correct order.
I had to reset the statusid for DWMaintenence and common.load.

  • Can VMM and System Center have portal equivalent to Azure?

I plan to create Private Cloud and handle staff like customer. They will have service portal to create and access to VM.
If, I would like to provide them the capability to see performance just like in Azure portal. Can out of the box solution of System Center built same function with Azure?
    Thanks.

    I am freaking lost!!!!
I have a Widows Azure environment that i'm trying to manage using system center ( apparently this is the bee's knees cause every post is about it)
So I attempt to install Microsoft System Center and I got something now on a 2012 server called Virtual Machine manager... I am assuming this is not the product I need to manage my windows azure solution so now i'm back to square one. can someone please
    help me with this???
what download do I need to install system center on a windows machine to get this working?!?!
    Please help!!

    hi,
It seems like the issue is not related to PAAS. I suggest you could refer to those tutorials
2012 configuration manager sp1 lab in the cloud  and
how to monitor your windows azure application with system center 2012 and this blog(https://blogs.technet.com/b/keithmayer/archive/2013/04/01/build-your-private-cloud-in-a-month-new-article-series.aspx#.Ux1QJHnxsic
). You could down load System Center files form
    this page.
By the way, I suggest you could post this issue on azure

  • SCEP 2012 System Center Monitoring Pack for Linux v4.5.10.1 Problem

    Hi Everyone!
We are having a problem with OpsMgr 2012 R2 and the System Center Monitoring Pack for SCEP 2012 for Linux v4.5.10.1.  We have successfully deployed the Linux OpsMgr 2012 R2 agent to our test CentOS 6.5 VM as well as SCEP 2012 v4.5.10.1.  We have
imported the System Center Monitoring Pack for SCEP 2012 for Linux management packs into OpsMgr 2012 R2 which is successfully discovering SCEP on our Linux VM, but when looking at the details for the monitor, it indicates that SCEP is "not found"
as seen in the following screen shot...
As seen in the following screen shots, everything else seems to be installed, configured, and working properly...
Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    JJ

Magnus_001 (big ups) and I were able to get discovery to stop failing on the Linux side of things, but the SCOM MP is still highly problematic.  Their pdf guides for SCEP implementation on Linux has a bunch of typos and errors -- for example, listing
'/bin/sh' instead of '/bin/bash', and one of the lines (the one that includes "export LANG=C" won't run no matter what.  When we disassembled the SCOM MP, we found that there's an extraneous space at the end of the command, current thought is
that that's causing a regex to fail within sudo.  All of their commands, from what I can tell, need to be specified as NOPASSWD within sudo; if you see errors about ssh-askpass with that you can confirm that there are likely typos in their guide sourced
from the pdf.  We eventually allowed '/bin/bash' to get the programs to run since we couldn't get a regex match to catch their command (which should be in a script).  We are out of failures that we can discover with logging on the Linux side; it's
likely to be an error within the MP at this point.
When we look at the powershell script in the MP library, the "not found" error is the default state, set immediately after stdout is captured from the discovery script.  I'm guessing that there's some problem interaction between that script
and the parsing thereof, as when we run the script locally as root we see the output that we'd expect. For all I know that's a line ending or locale problem.
Troubleshooting on the linux end is problematic, as instead of distributing a script to check on the linux side (which makes the sudo part of things much easier), the script is hard-coded within the MP.  From what I understand it would need to be disassembled
    and recompiled to change.
The snippet below may be of use to someone for use in their sudoers file, it will make the checks work on the linux side at least.  I wouldn't recommend this for anything beyond testing, as specifying that an account can run a full bash shell as root
without a password is a terrible idea.
#replace scomactionaccount with whatever your scom action account is called
    User_Alias SCOM = scomactionaccount
    Runas_Alias SCOM = root
    SCOM ALL = (SCOM) NOPASSWD: /opt/microsoft/scx/bin/scxlogfilereader -p
SCOM ALL = (SCOM) NOPASSWD: /bin/bash

  • Can I use System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection in "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host" without buy the license ?

Can I use System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection in Azure Virtual Machine Gallary's "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host" without buy the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection license ?
I want to protect my Azure RemoteApp against the malware.
System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection installed Azure Virtual Machine Gallary's "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host".
Now, I try to build Azure RemoteApp template by using the  Azure Virtual Machine Gallary's "Windows Server Remote Desktop Session Host" .
    Regards,
    Yoshihiro Kawabata

    Hi Yoshihiro,
Unless and until Microsoft modifies the license terms for System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection and/or modifies the Online Services Terms (OST) and/or other document explicitly saying that use is included with the Azure RemoteApp (ARA) monthly
fee I recommend you assume as that it is
not included and license it separately for ARA if that is even possible, which is a separate question.
For licensing it is best to be cautious and make decisions based on the official documents that are available that govern use of the software and services involved.  At this moment I'm not able to find a Microsoft document that grants use of System
Center 2012 Endpoint Protection with Azure RemoteApp.
When I first used the gallery template and noticed that Endpoint Protection was installed within it I had the same question as you.  I will update this thread if/when I obtain more information.

  • Windows Azure application with System Center 2012

    Hi Team,
We are able to add the Azure subscription to SCOM 2012. but when we are configuring the  adding monitoring wizard unable to discover  the Azure service, azure storage and VM's in the subscription. Could you please let me know why I'm unable to discover
the Azure service,Azure storage and VM's in the subscription using monitoring wizard

    Hi,
Download the System Center Management Pack for Windows Azure:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38414 and execute the .msi on the server where Operations
Manager 2012 w/SP1 is installed. Install files either in the default directory specified or another directory of your choice.

  • UCS Management Pack for System Center 2012 OpsMgr add monitor wizard error

We're successfully using the 2.6.0.179 version of the UCS Management Pack for System Center 2012 Operations Manager in our 2012 SP1 OpsMgr environment; however, in the new 2012 R2 OpsMgr environment we've stood-up and in which we installed the 2.6.2.0 version of the UCS MP, we're getting an error when trying to run the Add Monitoring Wizard under the Management Pack Templates node of the Authoring pane. We get the same error from the 2.6.1.0 version of the UCS MP as well. The text of the error is as follows:
"The page [Cisco.UCS.MP.UI.Proxy.Template.Page.ProxyDetailsPage] in the assembly [Cisco.UCS.MP.UI.Culture="",PublicKeyToken="6c96076cdf2c87a",Version="2.6.0.0"] could not be loaded. Please make sure that the account you are running under has sufficient privileges to load the given assembly, or the management pack that defines this page is installed or the assembly containing the page is in the path of the executible or that the page derives from known Operations Manager page type."
I'm an admin user in OpsMgr, so this should not be a user privilege issue, and that leaves the MP itself. The fact that a 2.6.0.0 version is mentioned makes me wonder if the base version of the MP must be installed before the 2.6.2 version. I'd test this, but we no longer have that version, and its no longer available for download from Cisco that I can see.
Has any dealt with this issue successfully, or have any insight into the problem?

Solved...the requirement is that you must do the MP configuration from the SCOM console on the SCOM Management Server where you installed the Cisco UCS MP; you can't do it from a SCOM console on a remote computer like I was trying to do.

  • Uninstall all management packs related to System Center Virtual Machine Manager and then run Setup again.

I uninstalled all System Center VVM related management Packs, but still received "Uninstall all management packs related to System Center Virtual Machine Manager and then run Setup again.".
Think I got them all. But how can I figure out which Management pack is still installed and has to be removed.
    Thanks for your reply
