Azure to Azure Migration Cloning between subscriptions

What is the best way to clone a configuration of VMs (Biztalk, SQL, 2012 Server, etc..) from one subscription to another?
Is it possible to build a shell configuration of VMs in a Virtual Network and clone it to another subscription?
So this is not a move but a copy of a deployment to a new subscription?  And where would the customer store the shell configuration of the deployment?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Robb,
Here is an article about how to copy a virtual machine from one Windows Azure subscription to another with PowerShell. It may be helpful:

  • Move WIndows Azure Visual Studio Premium Subscription to another Azure account

Our organization have Azure account with WIndows Azure Visual Studio Premium Subscription. Can we move this subsctiontion to another Azure account?

This is how we migrating from old subscription to a new one, this usually occurring when companies using MSDN account or Bizpark account want to migrate to their new EA/OPEN license accounts.
    Important:
before you decide to migrate data from one Azure Subscription/Microsoft Account to another, you should check the pre-requisites beforehand (see at the end of this article).
    To create a support ticket
To migrate data or move subscriptions between different Microsoft Accounts, follow these steps:
    Go to
    Azure support site
    Click on “Get Support”
This will cause you to have to authenticate to the Azure portal
Once loaded, you’ll get a modal window like this one.  Select “Billing” for support type:
    5. On the next page you have a number of options, if you want to migrate a subscription or data, go with the option “Subscription transfer and Migrations”
    6. In the Category, you can be more specific with your request
    7. On the final page, enter contact information
Once you submit the ticket, a representative from the Azure Support team will be in touch via Email or Phone to confirm the details with you.
Microsoft Azure Data Migration/Data Transfer Pre-requisites
Ensure you review each point before submitting a service ticket:
The source as well as destination subscription should be active,
Microsoft do not support selective service transfer. i.e. transfer selected hosted service, storage service from one subscription to another. It may become available in future but today,
    we transfer all or nothing.
Destination subscription must be completely empty. If there is any data on the destination, we will be performing a force migration which will transfer the data.
Source subscription and destination subscription must have the same service admin (at least till the migration completes).
List of services that can be migrated by us:
    Virtual Machines
    Cloud Services
    CDN
    Web sites
    Media Services
    Service Bus
    Storage
    Multi Factor Authentication
    Traffic Manager
    Mobile Services
    Virtual Network
    Access Control Service (ACS)
Caching – we need to work with Engineering Team for migrating caching service
Reserved IP Address and the Reserved IPs under the list
    Self- serve Migration:
    VSO
    SQL DB
    MFA
These are the services that cannot be moved:
    Active Directory (AAD)
    BizTalk Services
    HD Insight
    Backup
    Hyper-V Recovery Manager
    Azure Store
    Import / Export
    Scheduler
    Management Services
    SQL Reporting
Note: Microsoft won’t be able to perform data migration, if source as well as destination has  mobile services deployed. You would need to take the backup of mobile services
from either Source or Destination delete it and once the data migration is completed, you can redeploy the mobile services on destination.
Additionally  follow these steps to change the Service Administrator if it’s not same:
    Login in to
    https://account.windowsazure.com.
    Click ‘Subscriptions.’
    Select the subscription
    Click “Edit subscription details.”
Note: the Service Administrator needs to be the same for both target and source subscriptions.

  • TranslateApiException: Cannot find an active Azure Market Place Translator Subscription associated with the request credentials.

    Hi,
I am developing .net application, I have found an issue : TranslateApiException: Cannot find an active Azure Market Place Translator Subscription associated with the request credentials. : ID=1250.V2_Soap.Translate.14B2EC51
Recently signed up, sometimes it translated, most of the times i am having this exception
And cannot able to translate the large amount of characters, exception raised as : 403 Entity is too large
I set an maximum buffer length 2,147,483,647 too in web configuration
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Charulatha Suryakumar,
You can verify that you are subscribed to the Translator API, by going to your
My Data page on Windows Azure Marketplace.  It may be that you have reached the maximum monthly volume limit and need to upgrade your subscription level.
Try shortening your requests.  Currently, you can translate a maximum of 10000 characters. We recommend keeping each request between 2000 and 5000 characters to optimize response times.  There is not a limit to the number of requests per minute.
    Hope this helps. Thank you.

  • Migrate VM between clusters added to the same SCVMM

Is it possible to migrate VMs between two Cluster ( from 2012 SP1 cluster to 2012R2 cluster) that added
    to the same SCVMM?

Yes this is possible. Make sure that the networks selected for live migration is available on both clusters, and that the name of the logical switch in both environments are identical.
The key here is that VMM must be managing both environments.

  • VO does not distinguish between subscript or superscript text

I find it strange that VocieOver in Mac OS X (10.5.8) does not distinguish between subscript and superscript. Subscript and superscript hold a lot of meaning and was wondering if there was maybe a setting somewhere that enabled subscript and superscript text to be easily identified.

Hello, man with the spoof hobbitname,
Try doing it the other way around: put your legacy instruments in the main folder, after you've removed the new ones with the same names - including their samples folders.
    *Like so:*
    +(the folders are empty - I don't actually have them)+
    It should work this way...

    Hi babarzhr,
For uploading large data files to storage blob, please try AzCopy, a command line utility with concurrent operations to upload, download, and copy blobs. You
may get the latest version from aka.ms/azcopy, find the AzCopy at "<system disk>:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Azure\AzCopy" after your installation and use below AzCopy command line pattern:
           AzCopy <source folder> <destination folder> [filepatterns] [options]
Here is the sample command lines for your scenarios.
#1. Upload from local to your Azure Storage blob.
#1.1 Upload single file, say uploading “db1.bck”.
             AzCopy D:\backup\
    https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer//DestKey:key db1.bck
#1.2 Upload multi db files, say uploading “db1.mdf”, “db1.log”, “db1.bck”, use file pattern “db*” and option /s to recursively upload.
             AzCopy D:\backup\
    https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer/ /DestKey:key db* /s
#1.3 Choose block or page blob by option /BlobType:Page|Block.
            AzCopy D:\backup\
    https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer/ /DestKey:key db1.bck /BlobType:Block
    #2.
Download from Storage to your VM local disk.
#2.1 Download single file, say downloading “db1.bck”.
             AzCopy
    https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer/ D:\backup\ /SourceKey:key db1.bck
#2.2 Download multi db files, say downloading “db1.mdf”, “db1.log”, “db1.bck”, use file pattern “db” and option /s to recursively upload, attention, when ‘source’ is storage blob,
the file pattern will be treated as prefix.
             AzCopy
    https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer/ D:\backup\ /SourceKey:key db /s
#3. For uploading/downloading large data files, suggest you open resume mode directly with option /z:<journal file>.
             AzCopy D:\backup\
    https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer/ /DestKey:key db1.bck /z:”d:\test\restart.log”
    If your operation is
    terminated
in the middle of downloading/uploading, use same command line to resume directly.

  • Azure AD in MSDN Subscription

I have an issue with an imported AD into an MSDN account not being able to be used for things, for example, like the source for VS Online users or subscription co-admins. I *assume* this is because when the Azure account was provisioned, it wasn't tied
to an org account at the time. Can this be verified, and if this is the case, is there any way to "unclaim" the benefit (aka delete the Azure account, what have you) so that the provisioning process can be re-started?

    Hi,
To be able to be used in VSO, the directory must be the default directory, so you may want to make the Directory Default by going to "settings > subscription > edit directory" in the management portal.
I am not sure about which account you are referring to, but the deeply discounted development and test rates that are part of the MSDN dev and test pay-as-you-go offer require every account owner and co-administrator to be MSDN subscribers. (you can login
to the other Subscription and add your org user id into the directory U want to use)
     FYI.
The Azure MSDN benefit is for development and test purposes only and is offered at discounted usage rates. Usage within the Azure MSDN subscription does not carry a financially-backed SLA. We reserve the right to suspend any instance (VM or cloud service)
that runs continuously for more than 120 hours or if we determine that the instance is being used for production. We are making this capacity available to MSDN subscribers on a best efforts basis; there is no guarantee of capacity availability.

  • Does Azure supports switching between databases?

We have 1000s of Stored Procedures, Views & Functions with 'SELECT * FROM DB1.dbo.TBL1' we constantly switch between databases (about 300 of them) within a single instance, running real-time on-line business. These are back-end SQL queries that
we normally run from one of the ADMIN databases with in the same instance.
I tried using 'USE <database name>' and realized that it does not support and then tried using <db name>.dbo.<tbl name> that also does not work.
If these 2 functions does not support within Azure we simply cannot use the environment to support our business databases, could someone please confirm this - thanks.

    Hello,
Yes. Cross database references or four-part names are not supported by SQL Azure.
Windows Azure SQL Database supports the three-part name database_name.[schema_name].object_name when:
    • the database_name is the current database
    • the database_name is tempdb and the object_name starts with #.

I want to migrate information from my Macbook Pro to my MacMini but the Macbook Pro doesn't see/recognise the MacMini. The MacMini sees the Macbook Pro.
The MacMini is using OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1

I have connected a thunderbolt lead between the two devices but this hasn't changed the problem.

  • Migration from DPS subscription to Creative Cloud

    Hi there,
I come to this forum for a DPS account problem because no other form of Adobe support seems able to solve my problem.
I have been using DPS since the beta days and then subscribed to DPS professional although I create only Single-folio apps (no other product choice at the time).
When this yearly subscription was about to run out, I considered migrating to Creative Cloud, which had been released by then and seemed perfect for my needs: CS6 and as many Single-folio as I needed to produce.
Right now, with my Creative Cloud subscription working fine, I can create my folios to the point where I transfer them directly to the iPad; no problem this far. But it’s when I would need to open the App Builder and get a single-folio app generated that I’m stuck. When I enter my Creative Cloud credentials (with an Adobe ID which happens to be the same I used for my former DPS subscription), I get a message that my DPS account has been deactivated. It seems my Adobe ID is still linked to the DPS subscription that ran out and isn’t identified as a Creative Cloud account…
Here’s the whole message (translated from french): ‘This account has been deactivated. Your DPS subscription isn’t up to date, try another ID or contact your Adobe representative to update your account’
I tried Instant messaging support to end up reading there was nothing the support person whom I was chatting with could do. So I tried phone support, not successful either. I’ve tried getting into my Creative Cloud settings to see if I could create another Adobe ID, but found nothing. To this day, I’m still unable to open the DPS App Builder and generate an app.
Maybe there’s something I’m missing. For info, all my software is up to date.
If anyone has a clue as to where I could try next to get that problem solved, it would be more than welcome, I’ve been unable to produce any single-folio app for more than a month now.
    Thank you beforehand.

I figured this was the problem, but I was hoping it would’nt have to come to canceling CCM subscription and purchasing a new one. But if it’s the easiest way, then that’s what I’ll do.
Thank you very much for the swift answer.

  • Migrating a New Subscription in the Business Event

We have created a new subscription for an existing business event. We need to migrate the subscription to the test and other instances.
    Download Subscription :-_
    *$AFJVAPRG oracle.apps.fnd.wf.WFXLoad -d <apps> <apps_pwd> <machine_name:port_no:SID> thin US <Custom_File_Name>.wfx*
    SUBSCRIPTIONS <Business_Event_Name>
download commands extracts the subscription successfully
    Upload Subscription :-_
    *$AFJVAPRG oracle.apps.fnd.wf.WFXLoad -u apps apps <machine_name:port_no:SID> thin US <Custom_File_Name>.wfx*
The upload command says the subscription is loaded into database successfully. But when inspected from the Work Flow Administrator , the upload is failed to upload the new subscriptions.
Can anybody tell me if I'm missing something here.
    Thanks

Below are the information you requested.
1> Customization Level for Business Event = Limit
2> Customization Level for Subscription = User
3> The new subscription was downloading along with the existing subscriptions. I was deleting all other and keeping only the new subscription in the download file.
    Output of the download :-_
    Oracle Workflow XML Loader 2.6.4.0.0
    Connecting to [email protected]:1560:MDEVC -- UTF8
    Connected to mdcora09.na.ops.local:1563:MDEVC
    Download completed successfully.
Output of the force upload :-_
    Oracle Workflow XML Loader 2.6.4.0.0
    Connecting to [email protected]:1560:MDEVC -- UTF8
    Connected to mdcora09.na.ops.local:1563:MDEVC
Loaded 1 object to the database...
    Upload completed successfully.
The FORCE UPLOAD Command worked fine. Now I'm able to see the new subscription. I observed the PHASE is the primary Key here.
Can you tell me whats the issue with ?
    Thanks
