Azure Webjob created in Visual Studio 2015 fails to run

An Azure Webjob created in Visual Studio 2015 (any job, including the sample project) fails to run in an azure website with the following error:
Job failed due to exit code -2146232576
Note: the same project created in Visual Studio 2013 deploys and runs successfully.
How can I fix the project in VS2015?

Not the OP but I've the same problem.
I created a continuously running webjob with the following code. The job runs perfectly fine locally.
Program.cs
static void Main()
var host = new JobHost();// config);
host.RunAndBlock();
Functions.cs
public static void ProcessQueueMessage([QueueTrigger("queue")] string message, TextWriter log)
log.WriteLine(@"triggered job TriggeredWebJob");
Here's the log from Azure WebJob:

  • Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise and SSDT -- which SQL Server version(s) targetted for SSIS and SSRS

With Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Preview, I see that Sql Server Data Tools (SSDT) are included.  What I need to know is, when I create an Integration Services Package or Reporting Serivces report, on which versions of SQL Server can the result be
    deployed?
e.g. Can I deploy an SSIS package created this way on Sql Server 2008R2?  2012? 2014?
If all three, how to I tell Visual Studio the target environment for the package?

I think, SSDT BI templates for VS2015 is not available yet. If it's available or yet to come please post the URL if you have got details about it.

  • Recommended way to unit test mobile cross platform C++ in Visual Studio 2015

    Hello,
I'm playing with the new Visual Studio 2015 to check its capabilities for cross platform development using C++ as coding language. I've seen several videos in Channel9 about this feature but I don't remember hearing in any of these a word about how
to unit test such projects from Visual Studio 2015. Is there some recommended way to create unit tests for such projects?
I'm not sure I can use Visual Studio test projects for C++ to test the android library or the Windows Phone 8.1. If I add a new platform ARM to a test project of those, I cannot select in the platform toolset combo the values that I have for my libraries
(Clang 3.4 and Windows 8.1 respectively). So it seems that such test projects are not addressed for cross platform c++ in VS2015.
I also have tried to make a second cross platform library project to contain the tests, adding there the Catch.h file from catch framework or adding the files from Google Test framework. My idea was to link each cross platform test library with their corresponding
"production code" libraries. In both cases (catch and gtest) I have problems when trying to compile the test framework files (not sure if it is not possible or just my fault being new at C++ for mobile platforms).
Has anyone succeeded unit testing the cross platform c++ code in VS2015? How?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jorge.

  • I can't find the appx or xap package from windows app studio souce code in visual studio 2015

I created a project from Windows App Studio then downloaded the source code and modify it. I set all configuration to Release Any CPU. But after rebuilding solutions several times there are no appx or xap package files found. How to create appx package
from windows app studio source code using visual studio 2015?

For that right click on the solution folder in Visual Studio, and you would find an option to create App Packages.
    Hope this might help!

    Hi spoldman,
You would check whether your VS2015 version supports this kind of apps, or whether your VS IDE has the enough requirements to develop a specific app.

  • C# Getting path of folder that is created in Visual Studio and it's located in app directory.

Alright i created folder that will contain video resources for my app.But now i need to connect it with my code.I need to get file path of folder that i created in Visual Studio, but it needs to work on other machines.I tryed Path.Combined(Environment.GetCurrentDirectory
    + @"Video\Lekcija1.mp4") but it didn't work.Any suggestions?

If you set the Build Action of the Lekcija1.mp4 file to Content (right-click on the file in the Solution Explorer in Visual Studio) and the Copy To Output Directory property to Copy always or Copy if newer you could use the following code to get the absolute
    path to the file:
    string codeBase = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CodeBase;
    string fullPath = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(codeBase) + "\\Video\\Lekcija1.mp4";
    Hope that helps.

  • Windows 7 and windows8.1 Azure VM which supports visual studio professional

I tried to find azure vm which supports Visual Studio professional.
without Windows Server 2012, there is no visual studio professional for windows 7 or windows 8.1.
if we want it, we should install it manually?

Dave - Thanks for the prompt response.  I've built this application using MFC in Static Library, x86 configuration.
OK, that would eliminate the run-time DLLs.
I've not heard of Depends.exe but found and downloaded it.  Ran it on both Win 7 and 8.1 with similar results shown some missing dlls (e.g.: API-MS-WIN-CORE-PRIVATEPROFILE-L1-1-1.DLL).  I've never heard of these.
If they're the same on both, I wouldn't worry about them, it's
    differences that would be relevant.
On the face of things, there's nothing immediately apparent that would
prevent your program from running, so is there any error reported
(message box, or event viewer) when you try to run your application on
    Win8.1?
Have you tried debugging it on 8.1?

You should be able to install Visual Studio 2015 alongside 2013 and 2010. However, I'd advise against it until the release version of Visual Studio 2015 becomes available. There may be issues down the road upgrading the preview version of VS 2015 with the final
    retail version.

  • Known Issue: You cannot install the Visual Studio Tools for Universal Windows Apps on a pre-RC build of Visual Studio 2015 (Windows 10 Insider Preview SDK and tools, April 2015 release)

The Tools for Universal Windows Apps requires Visual Studio 2015 RC. If you have an earlier build installed, for example, Visual Studio 2015 CTP6, you must first uninstall Visual Studio 2015 and the Tools for Windows.

To uninstall earlier versions of Visual Studio 2015 and the tools for Universal Windows app development,
Go to Control Panel, and select Programs & Features.
Select Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and click Change.
    Click Remove, and then Yes.
Next, select Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Tools for Windows 10, and click

  • Cannot Connect to Azure SQL Database in Visual Studio 2013

    Beyond Frustrated here.
I am trying to connect to an Azure SQL database - it has been created, has tables etc. I am trying to create a new Data Connection from within Visual Studio 2013, latest release for VS and Azure. I continue to receive the following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)
I have ensured that TCP is allowed and above Named Pipes in the Configuration Manager. The associated IP address is allowed on Azure Firewall. Certificate has been added to VS etc. But still no connection. I can see the database in the Azure section in Server
Explorer, but cannot add a Data Connection. What is equally as frustrating is I have a MacBook Pro running Win 7 sitting right next to my office computer and it can access Azure fine, not problems.
If anyone has any other ideas on how I might be able to solve this I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.
    Jeff

    Hi,
The Error message "   A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is
configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53) "
The issue comes up mainly because the application is not able to connect to the server.
To resolve this issue, try the following steps (in that order):
Make sure that TCP IP is enabled as a client protocol on the application server. For more information on how to do this, see
Configure client protocols. On application servers where you do not have SQL Server tools installed, you can check this by running cliconfg.exe (SQL Server Client Network Utility).
     2.  Check the application’s connection string to make sure that it is correctly configured. For example, make sure that the connection string specifies the correct port (1433) and the fully qualified server name.
Note You can follow these steps to obtain the connection string from the Azure Management Portal:
                          Log on to the
    Azure Management Portal.
In the left navigation pane, click
    SQL Databases.
Select your Azure SQL Database server.
                          Click
    Dashboard.
On the right side, go to the
quick glance section, and then click Show connection strings.
Test the connectivity between the application server and the Azure SQL database by using a UDL file, ping, and telnet. For more information about how to do this, see
Azure SQL Database connectivity troubleshooting guide and
    Troubleshooting SQL Server connectivity issues.
Note As a troubleshooting step, you can also try to test the connectivity on a different client computer.
Try increasing the connection timeout. Microsoft recommends using a connection timeout of at least 30 seconds.
As a best practice ensure retry logic is in place. For more information about the retry logic, see
Azure SQL Database best practices to prevent request denials or connection termination.
If these  steps do not resolve your problem, follow the below steps to collect more data and contact support:
If your application is a cloud service, enable the logging. This step returns a UTC time stamp of the failure. Additionally, SQL Azure returns the tracing ID.
Microsoft Customer Support Services can use this information.
For more information about how to enable the logging, see
how to enable diagnostic logging for Azure Web sites and Developing SQL Database Applications section in
    Azure SQL Database Development Considerations.
      Check out
the list of best practices for Connecting to Windows Azure SQL Database.

  • How do I load an SSIS package created in Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated) onto SQL Server 2012 using SQL Management Studio 2012

I am fairly new to this whole process of working with the Microsoft development environment.  Here is what I have to work with:
an NT server running Microsoft SQL 2012  - Microsoft SQL Server Standard (64-bit)  11.0.2100.60
and on my laptop (all freebie downloads):
SQL Server Management Studio 2012            ver 11.0.2100.60
Visual Studio 2012 Express  for Desktop Development and
    Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated)
I was able to create an SSIS package in
2012 Shell (Integrated).  It takes a flat file and imports it into an SQL database table.  It runs successfully from within the
    2012 Shell (Integrated) envrionment.
But I am having trouble figuring out how to set this up on the 2012 SQL Server.  I see that one of my colleagues created an Integration Services Catalog,
and using SQL Management Studio I was able to create a folder under that called DigLic.  But when I go to the Projects subfolder of DigLic and attempt to import my SSIS package, I get an error message:
"To launch the Integration Services Deployment wizard, one of the components: Integration Services, Management Tools - Basic or Business Intelligence Development Studio has to be installed by the SQL Server
2012 Standard, Enterprise, Developer, or Evaluation Edition.  To install a component, run SQL Server Setup and Select the component name"
I realize that Express Versions of Visual Studio lack the full feature set of a professional version.  But am I wrong in assuming that owning a server version of SQL Server 2012 gives us license to a professional
version of SQL Management Studio 2012?  If so, how would I go about getting this software component installed?  And I am not clear if this is something that needs to be installed on our SQL Server or if I simply need a professional version of SSMS
    loaded on my laptop.
I work for a company that is fairly fractured in its repsonsibilities, so I would need to know exactly what to ask for if I need to track down any licenses that I might need and if I need to have any specific software installed on our SQL server or on my
    laptop.
All helpt would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Arthur,
Thank you for your reply.  But at this point, one of my points of confusion is what software I have available to me.  I wish I had a useful central help desk to call up and just say, "Hey, load me up with all of the professional version(s) of Visual
Studio.  But I do not know what we have license to.  And I kind of need to know what the options are, so that I can ask a specific question of our vast buracracy.
For now, I have downloaded only free versions of Visual Studio client software.  Since my company does have servers running Microsoft SQL Server, I am going to assume that we have proper licensing for those servers.  But does that server license
allow me to get any professional versions of the PC client software for the various Visual Studio(s) 2012?
And if I get a professional version of Visual Studio 2012, does that do away with the three different flavors that I have right now?  I have 2012 versions of SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio Express, and Visual Studio Shell (Integrated).
    Your feedback is much appreciated.

  • EnterProjectStage - reading GUID from a string variable within Workflow created in Visual Studio 2012.

    Hi,
I am creating a Project Server Workflow (site workflow) using Visual Studio 2012.
If i set the "EnterProjectStage" activity with a GUID within quotes the workflow works
(as suggested in the MSDN blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project_programmability/archive/2012/11/07/creating-project-workflows-using-visual-studio-2012.aspx).
However, the GUID of stages will change from environment to environmet (QA, Stage, PROD). So, I tried setting the GUID in a string variable (which i am populating dynamically) and assigned the string variable to the "EnterProjectStage"
activity. However, this dynamic assignment of stage id to "EnterProjectStage" does not work and after deployment the workflow dumps with the following error:

Is there a way the "EnterProjectStage" can be made dynamic so that it reads from a variable.
