Windows 7 and windows8.1 Azure VM which supports visual studio professional

I tried to find azure vm which supports Visual Studio professional.
without Windows Server 2012, there is no visual studio professional for windows 7 or windows 8.1.
if we want it, we should install it manually?

Dave - Thanks for the prompt response.  I've built this application using MFC in Static Library, x86 configuration.
OK, that would eliminate the run-time DLLs.
I've not heard of Depends.exe but found and downloaded it.  Ran it on both Win 7 and 8.1 with similar results shown some missing dlls (e.g.: API-MS-WIN-CORE-PRIVATEPROFILE-L1-1-1.DLL).  I've never heard of these.
If they're the same on both, I wouldn't worry about them, it's
differences that would be relevant.
On the face of things, there's nothing immediately apparent that would
prevent your program from running, so is there any error reported
(message box, or event viewer) when you try to run your application on
Win8.1?
Have you tried debugging it on 8.1?

  • Please wait while windows configures microsoft visual studio professional 2013

After installing visual community 2013 and rebooting visual studio works fine but all other microsoft office programs display "please wait while windows configures microsoft visual studio professional 2013" and continues the installation for
about 1 minute before the program starts. I tried deleting mso.dll and reinstalling but it is still the same. Any help would be appreciated?

    Hi iwallhead,
Then can your VS work fine? Anyway, please upload the installation log.
Use a tool named collect.exe to collect the log file. Download
    collect.exeand
run it directly. The utility creates a compressed cabinet of all the VS and .NET logs to
    %TEMP%\vslogs.cab. Please upload the
    vslogs.cab file on onedrive.
I will help check if any install error exists.

    Hi Satosh Sutar,
Based on the description, you got the error message when you update the apps from version 1.0 to 1.1.
From the error message, it seems the menifest include some settings no allowed in the new version. Would you mind sharing more detail about how you update the project?
And here is an article about updating apps for Office and menifest schema files in the project for your reference:

  • Azure & Visual Studio Professional MSDN

    Hi,
With a Visual Studio Professional MSDN subscription you can provision Visual Studio 2013 dev virtual machine(s). When selecting the MSDN option when creating a VM from the gallery gives several options with VST to choose from.
    - Is a VST Pro MSDN subscriber eligible to choose from all options (even VST Ultimate)?
    - How is pricing determined for an VST VM?
    - When not selecting from the MSDN subscriber options but from the "normal" VST options (e.g. Win 2012 R2 with VST 2013 Community Edition Update 4) how is pricing determined?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I would suggest you contact with azure support, it is a good choice for you, Please contact support team by creating a support ticket at

I want to develop a plugin for adobe acrobat 9+10+11 do I need “SDK 9.1 and Visual studio 2005” +“SDK 10 and Visual studio 2008” +“SDK 11 and Visual studio 2010”
Can’t I develop this plugin with visual studio 2013?

The SDK is produced when the version of Acrobat is released, so if you insist on using obsolete SDKs for obsolete Acrobat you can hardly criticise the Acrobat 9 SDK for being out of date.
To develop for Acrobat 9 (obsolete)+10+11 you can use the Acrobat 9 SDK but it may require some work and expertise to get it to work in all versions. Get the other SDKs for reference.

Just got a new PC with a fresh install of Windows 8.1. I went to Dreamspark to download VS for my uni work, I got for Visual Studio Professional 2013 Update 4 web installer.
Only problem is every time I try to install I get an error message:

I've tried to install on the Administrator account, re-downloaded the installer, got the ISO... I also tried to uninstall DirectX SDK and the distro's that came with it as I remember having problems installing it together with VS last time, but that didn't
work here. Thought I should mention the SDK here as it was the only thing I had installed before Visual Studio.
Thanks in advance for any help, I have saved an installing log if anyone needs to see it.

  • Microsoft Visual Studio Professional

    Dear Sir/madam,
We have purchased a software 'Microsoft Visual Studio Professional'  from a Vendor (Mumbai based).
we understood that this software do not have a feature or tool like Visual dBase or Visual Foxpro.
Now after enquiry with vendor we came to know that Microsoft has stopped this
Visual dBase or Visual Foxpro in Microsoft visual studio. We want to confirm this from you . Also is there any tool similar to visual dBase or Visual foxpro in
Microsoft Visual Studio Professional? if so pl let us know. Otherwise, we want to revert this purchase order. Pl let us know the procedure for the reversal of purchase order.

    Hello Rui M_
Applications are different depending on the processor. For example, common windows desktop apps like WinForm and WPF are not supported on the above "arm processor". But store apps are supported on some kinds of tablets. For example, you may know
that Surface have Surface RT and Surface Pro. They are based on different processor, normal Windows Desktop applications does not support on Surface RT.

PS:I would like to upload the picture of it but i can't since my account haven't get verified and i don't know how to verify it

    Hello Jer_1998,
I'm not sure if it is a corrupt installation issue or some others. May I ask this questoin, have you be able to use Visual Studio before you get this error?
If you cannot use Visual Studio since it is your first time installation. I believe we need your full logs to troubleshoot this issue:
    Please use  http://aka.ms/vscollect
to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to
    https://skydrive.live.com/
    and share the link here.
If you can use VS before and suddenly get this kind of error, please either choose pvdg42's solution or use the following way to reset:
Please open an administrative CMD window and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE and run these commands:
    1.devenv.exe  /safemode
    2.devenv.exe  /resetskippkgs
    3.devenv.exe  /installvstemplates
    4.devenv.exe  /resetsettings

  • Trouble to download visual studio professional 2013

    Hi!
I have just recently download the visual studio professional 2013. When I was trying to run that folder in Windows 8.1 laptop. Visual studio running process just come up on my screen for 2 second and disappear after that
process. I have tried manyy times with different types of visual studio. Can u help me to fix this problem? I really need  help.

    Hi,
It seems you install your VS by web installer. When you open the exe file, the installation process crashed.
You should follow up these steps to install Visual Studio again:
    1. Re-download the Visual studio from Microsoft official site here:
    http://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/download-visual-studio-vs
    2. Disable your Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware software and be sure that your OS has been "patched" up - Update your computer (Windows) before install the VS.
    3. Clean your %temp% folder and run the installer with Administrator permission.
Look the links to get more information:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/msdnforum/archive/2010/03/06/visual-studio-and-net-framework-installation-tips.aspx

Or you can install by ISO:
Please try download the content online or copy the content from your DVD to some folders from your disk, then try the installation again. And try to use the tool in below link to check your ISO checksum.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290
If the error also occurs, please use http://aka.ms/vscollect  to gather the installation logs. You will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to
https://onedrive.live.com/   and share the link here.

  • Having trouble getting Visual Studio Professional 2008 to rec. Crystal 2008

I am used to the tricky business of installing Crystal Reports every time there is an new version. I did not have a problem getting VSS 2005 to recognize CRXI R2, and used the reportdocument object to develop web reports within my ASP.NET 2.0 applications.
In my current virtual server development environment, after uninstalling and reinstalling in various combinations, I still haven't got VSS 2008 Professional to recognize that it has upgraded dll's for Crystal Reports 2008.
In my opinion this Business Objects/SAP website for support has got to be the worst website I have ever encountered for trying to find the information that I need to support Visual Studio and Crystal Reports. Very frustrating.
Can anyone tell me what the sequence and/or trick is to get VSS professional 2008 to recognize the updated DLL's???
    Thanks in advance....
    SMA

Sorry. I'm not sure if you are actually working with CR 10.5 or CR 2008 (soundes like 10.5). But the latest SP (SP1) for CR 10.5 is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009351512008E/crbasic2008sp1.exe
and the latest SP (SP1 also) for CR 2008 is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100010503722008E/cr2008_sp1.exe
Now, remember if your reports are created in CR XI and you are running them with CR 10.5, you may run into issues as you're looking for a forward compatibility from CR 10.5. And there are a number of changes in CR XI that CR 10.x will have trouble resolving. Parameters for starters.

  • Cannot Connect to Azure SQL Database in Visual Studio 2013

    Beyond Frustrated here.
I am trying to connect to an Azure SQL database - it has been created, has tables etc. I am trying to create a new Data Connection from within Visual Studio 2013, latest release for VS and Azure. I continue to receive the following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)
I have ensured that TCP is allowed and above Named Pipes in the Configuration Manager. The associated IP address is allowed on Azure Firewall. Certificate has been added to VS etc. But still no connection. I can see the database in the Azure section in Server
Explorer, but cannot add a Data Connection. What is equally as frustrating is I have a MacBook Pro running Win 7 sitting right next to my office computer and it can access Azure fine, not problems.
If anyone has any other ideas on how I might be able to solve this I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.
    Jeff

    Hi,
The Error message "   A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is
configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53) "
The issue comes up mainly because the application is not able to connect to the server.
To resolve this issue, try the following steps (in that order):
Make sure that TCP IP is enabled as a client protocol on the application server. For more information on how to do this, see
Configure client protocols. On application servers where you do not have SQL Server tools installed, you can check this by running cliconfg.exe (SQL Server Client Network Utility).
     2.  Check the application’s connection string to make sure that it is correctly configured. For example, make sure that the connection string specifies the correct port (1433) and the fully qualified server name.
Note You can follow these steps to obtain the connection string from the Azure Management Portal:
                          Log on to the
    Azure Management Portal.
In the left navigation pane, click
    SQL Databases.
Select your Azure SQL Database server.
                          Click
    Dashboard.
On the right side, go to the
quick glance section, and then click Show connection strings.
Test the connectivity between the application server and the Azure SQL database by using a UDL file, ping, and telnet. For more information about how to do this, see
Azure SQL Database connectivity troubleshooting guide and
    Troubleshooting SQL Server connectivity issues.
Note As a troubleshooting step, you can also try to test the connectivity on a different client computer.
Try increasing the connection timeout. Microsoft recommends using a connection timeout of at least 30 seconds.
As a best practice ensure retry logic is in place. For more information about the retry logic, see
Azure SQL Database best practices to prevent request denials or connection termination.
If these  steps do not resolve your problem, follow the below steps to collect more data and contact support:
If your application is a cloud service, enable the logging. This step returns a UTC time stamp of the failure. Additionally, SQL Azure returns the tracing ID.
Microsoft Customer Support Services can use this information.
For more information about how to enable the logging, see
how to enable diagnostic logging for Azure Web sites and Developing SQL Database Applications section in
    Azure SQL Database Development Considerations.
      Check out
the list of best practices for Connecting to Windows Azure SQL Database.

  • Problem Installing Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2010 in my laptop ( OS: Windows 8.1 64bit )

hi staff of microsoft or anybody,
I have problem installation of VS pro in my laptop windows 8.1 (64bits) using web installer and offline unzipping iso. BTW i have VS 2013 installed in my computer at the moment. Before i
upgrade from windows 8.0 to 8.1 , i used to have VS PRO 2010 but after installing VS 2013 it was uninstall automatically,
I keep getting this popup of error: DDSet_Error: Internal error: 1009 ( while installing Visual Studio 2010 Professional ) . Could somebody tell me what is the solution because i need VS 2010 for my project.  thanks in advance for anybody who could
provide me the solution , thanks a lot

    Hello SuperWeb,
I have checked you logs and find something which may related to this issue:
    1.  WIN64DUALFOLDERS: Substitution in 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\Microsoft.VisualStudio.vspGridControl.dll' folder had been blocked by the 1 mask argument (the folder pair's iSwapAttrib member = 0).
    2. Assembly Install: Failing with hr=80070005 at RemoveDirectoryAndChildren, line 396
The folder substitution is blocked and the RemoveDirectoryAndChildren meet access denied in your setup. May I ask a few questions:
    1. Do you have admin privilege and have you run your setup with admin
    2. Do you have any ant-virus software installed on your OS which may blocked Visual Studio from installing?
I will recommend u refer to this blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/solving-setup-errors-by-using-the-subinacl-tool-to-repair-file-and-registry-permissions.aspx
You can then run a script to give all your folders and registries admin permissions. Let's see if you can install your setup after that.
By the way, the checksum can be checked by using this tool from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290
However since I cannot download ISO from DreamSpark as I'm not a student, I cannot help you verify it. Please contact your vendor to know the exact ISO hash number. A good ISO is required before you start the install process.
    Best regards,
    Barry

  • Windows 8 HTML5/JavaScript Notification Hubs using Visual Studio 2012

    Hi,
I'm not able to implement Microsoft Azure Notification Hubs using HTML5/JavaScript. Please help
    Thanks

That is a Windows issue. Perhaps you should contact Microsoft about Windows issue not Visual Studio issue.
You say it fails to work. So I would imagine it downloaded and installed then you attempt to launch it and it fails to work. Or is it the download that fails to work?
Windows Compatibility Mode you can search for on the internet also.
Below is an image of an executables properties. One of the tabs (the one displayed) is for Compatibility. The issue with your system is not an issue for this forum. It's possible a setting displayed below for your executable or possibly your executables
shortcuts could be altered to correct the issue. Or not.
