B1License constantly using much CPU
Hi,
We have a customer for which his system has gotten very slow lately. We found out that the B1License is using constantly over 50% of the CPU. Any of you got this problem before? What was the reason for this?
They are running SBO 2007, SP1, PL08
Thanks
Claude
Hi Claude,
That is not normal. Have you asked your customer to restart server (or at lease licensing service) to check?
Thanks,
Gordon

High CPU "% User" after update, but no process using much CPU...
Hi guys,
since I did the recent system or security update for my Macbook, my computer crashes a lot and freezes. The fans run constantly, and the weirdest thing is, that in my Activity Monitor no program is actually using much CPU capacity.
BUT, the usage screen below (wih the red and green squares) is showing that the system is running under full capacity. The cause for that is mentioned next to it the user percentage display "% User" shows values between 50 and 90% or so.
What is causing it, and how can I get rid of it. At the current state I can't even surf the net properly as Firefox and Safari freeze constantly.
Thanks for you help in advanced.
A desperate RigoX.....Sorry forgot to give the below details.

Hi!
The system is Windows 7 Home Profession. I installed iCloud application for PC for photostream sync with iPhone 4. The photostream sync is well. But "applephotostreams.exe" constantly uses the CPU to 50%. Whatever you sync or not.
Help please.My APSdaemon.exe issue coincided with the same issue from the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.
The problem for me was not resolved by iTunes or iCloud uninstall/install (iCloud uninstall or even logoff at a PC is risky for your Outlook data by the way).
The solution was:
- OPEN Command Promt with Administrator’s privileges and
- run:
netsh winsock reset
then
- reboot Windows.
...as posted in a thread about AppleMobileDeviceService.exe by Madblaster6. Thank you Madblaster6

Mail 6.0 in Mountain constantly uses 100% CPU power???
Hi,
I have upgraded to Mountain Lion and it would be perfect if there was one major issue fixed: when having Mail.app open, this application uses between 80 to 110% of the CPU power constantly. The main issue is reduction of speed of other operations but more concerning is that fan colling fan just runs endlessly.
Has anyone experienced such issue? The activity Monitor shows that Mail uses all processing power.
I use a macbook 13' (unibody) and Mail has an Exchange mail account active (and the iCloud email). After upgrading I recreated all mailboxes (by deleting the V2 folder), server setting is using SSL and no SASL.
Could it be a bug or something in the server settings/account setting?
Y.Finally solved.
Had to delete the full Mail folder (+Maild Downloads) in the Library/Application Support, to recreate the full app support fmor the new version.
Seems to work normally now.
Thanks for the tip -
SyncServer constantly using high CPU, causing fans to run
Has anybody found a solution for when the SyncServer process runs wild? I'm running OS X 10.7.1. In the last day or so I've had a problem where I find my laptop's fans are constantly running. Opening Activity Monitor shows the SyncServer process eating a consistent 20-30% of my CPU. I've left it going all day and it never stops.
From what I've been able to determine so far, the SyncServer process doesn't cause any problems until I launch iTunes and sync my iPhone. After that it keeps running. I upgraded to iTunes 10.4.1 yesterday, but I _think_ this problem started just beforehand when I was still running 10.4.
If anyone has any insight I'd appreciate it.I resolved a similar situation. I am running OS 10.6.8 and noticed my fan was on constantly. ActivityMonitor showed the syncserver process using about 15-30% of CPU cycles, with iCal showing up suspiciously high on the CPU list. I downloaded syncrospector v4.0 from http://goo.gl/logoG (I got that lead from http://help.jools.me/kb/21) and running that app I could see that iCal was syncing about once per second! A bit more searching took me to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627, and there I found the answer.
"If you see the Sync menu in the menu bar, skip to step 4: "
I hadn't noticed the little icon in the menu bar, but there it was with an exclamation mark inside it. Clicking on that I saw a message that there were "conflicts" (about 10, it turned out). I resolved those and the syncserver problem went away.
Now, there is probably an underlying problem, still. Just because there are conflicts between iCal and my iPhone, iCal should not be trying to sync more than once per second. For now, though, I am content. I'm not going to try to figure out what was really going on.
By the way, this all started when my daughter plugged her iPhone (an old one of mine) into my laptop. Evidently the old calendar entries on that phone for some reason conflicted with old entries on iCal. -
Firefox using much CPU; how to find the offending tab/URL?
My Firefox 32 .0 is using lots of CPU, and it frequently goes into "not responding" state. I restarted in safe mode, and the same condition happened. Is there any way for me to determine what tab(s)/URL(s) are causing the problem? I really do not want to start closing each of my many tabs and windows one-by-one to see which one(s) might be causing the problem. I am running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. Thanks.
--Barry FinkelI run MSE as my basic anti-malware. I also run WebRoot Security Anyware (WRSA) and Spyiit Search & Destroy. None of them has found any malware. Yesterday I ran MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), and it did not find anything. I ran RogueKiller, but before it finished and gave me results, it told me that there was a new version available. I downloaded it and it caused a BSOD when I started it. That was the BSOD before I watched "60 Minutes" last night. I tried it again, and the second BSOD "allowed" me to do the debugging I did last night.
I do not want to disable flash, as the weather.gov radar image I have open needs flash to display the radar loop images.

LMS.exe using 25% CPU
Noticed that the LMS.exe on my new T510 is constantly using 25% of the CPU, I assume this is not normal, anyone know what I need to tweak please?
Solved!
Go to Solution.I don't know why it's constantly using 25% CPU, but i belive the file belong to "Local Manageability Service" (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74374). You could try to upgrade to the latest version if not already done so. I'm also under the impression that very few people actually use this so you could uninstall as well and disable in BIOS if you don't need it. I don't have it installed and keep it disabled in BIOS since i don't need it. Like to only install what i need to keep it as simple and clean as possible.

Mds and mdworker are constantly using 10%-40% of my CPU since partitioning.
2 days ago I partitioned approximately 80GB of my 500GB 7200rpm macbook pro drive to be used for Windows 7. There was 430GB of free space on my HDD at the time so I know that there was no overwrite issue. It has successfully been installed and runs very well. However, since I did this the mds and mdsworker processes on the Mac side are constantly using large amounts of my CPU and are bogging down my computer. I understand that these services help create the Spotlight database. Is anyone aware of this issue?
After two days I'd say it's time to start over. Go to the System Preferences application- you can get to it by clicking on the Apple in the upper right corner, System Preferences is about a third of the way down the menu. When it's open, select Spotlight from the list of preferences. Under "Search Results" in Spotlight you will see the order in which results will be displayed. If you want to change the order, now would be a good time.
Uncheck all the boxes, this will remove them from the consideration of Spotlight. Then re-check the ones you wish to be available in Spotlight, this will force them to be re-indexed. My arithmetic says your files should occupy not much more than 50 GB, this should not take long to index.
You could try just Applications, or just System Preferences first to see if it is able to complete the task. If it takes longer than a few minutes, there's likely something else going on, perhaps related to your partitioning.
Good luck! Joel. -
Flash Player using high CPU constantly and heating system
Hi I am in India ... from last few months I am noticing that Flash Player is using too much CPU when ever I run IE, Explorer or opera ... when I disable Flash Player then IE and opera work on normal CPU ... I have uninstalled Chrome since I was unable to disable flash player on it ... I have 2nd generation i5 .. 3gb ram ... dedicated 1gb nvidia graphics card ... 750 Gb hdd ... win7 home premium 64 bit ... I am able to easily play Crysis 2 ... halo ... far cry ... wolfenstein 2009 and many more intense graphic games on my laptop without over heating it ... but flash player causes excessive CPU constant use and system to over heat if I watch a complete movie on you tube ... any other compatible player available plz do tell ..... rgds
Hi ... I use admin account only to install new software or games ... for all other uses I log in as an ordinary account
But even when logged in with admin account the same prb persists ... cause of this flash player prb I have even stopped playing games on FB & Zynga ...
For this flash player problem I even took it to acer service center and since I have extended service warranty the engineers there ran acomplete check on ram, hdd, graphic card and they also did a complete fresh install of win 7 home premium 64 bit edition. They even completely serviced it, cleaned it and applied new thermal paste ... but even they were baffled that my system can stand up to high intensity graphic games running from HDD or DVD rom or USB pen drive but if I try to run graphic flash player games for long ie castleville or watch a long movie on you tube then flash player can single handedly cause CPU usage to be constantly high leading to system getting heated up.
Guess will just have to be content without flash ... but some sites require flash player to be enabled and therein lies the problem

Apple mobile device service uses too much cpu time
Apple mobile device service uses too much cpu time, from 88% to 99% of the CPU time.
The best way to fix this is to completely remove all aspects of iTunes then reinstall. Step by step directions are on this article. Good luck

Kworker constantly using 15/20% of CPU since upgrade to 2.6.36-ARCH
Hi,
Since upgrading to 2.6.36-ARCH kernel I've noticed that my CPU has a constant load on one of the cores:
kworker/0:1 shows as using 61% CPU usage on one core.
I cannot seem to find out much about what kworker is and what logs I need to look at to diagnose, can anyone point me in the right direction?
Kind regards
Craig

How much CPU should the Agent (in general) be using on an Exchange 2010 Server
Hello
Can someone please help me with the following question.
I was asked by the Exchange admin if the HealthService.exe process should be using around 10% of the CPU on a 6 core system.
First of I am note sure if the agent can use more than one core and if the % CPU as shown in Task Manager reflects all cores for a given process e.g. does 10% mean 10% across all cores or just one core.
I explained the Agent is running many workflows and instigating other tasks i.e. monitoring host and perhaps cscript etc. So it is difficult to say how much CPU is normal!
However does anyone else have an Exchange 2010 environment (I am using SCOM 2007 R2 CU6) and if so how much CPU is it using over a few minutes?
also, if there a canned report I can run which shows how much CPU the agent is using over time.
Thanks in advance

AAnotherUser__There are many scripts and monitoring workflows in general that run in the Exchange management pack. CPU may spike periodically while scripts are executing. However, this may be a SyncTime issue in the Exchange pack - since there are many scripts in the
pack, it would be recommended to cascade script runtime by using SyncTime configuration. I haven't taken a look at this pack in some time, so cannot comment on whether this practice was used. In general, a typical SCOM agent should not use more than 1-5% CPU
time, sustained. But, again, for heavily scripted packs like the Exchange pack, you will likely see CPU spikes regularly.

Firefox uses too much CPU ff3.6.3 any HELP?
Firefox uses way too much CPU. Running MAC OSX and ff 3.6.3 using "activity monitor" shows Firefox uses typically 96% of my CPU !!
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== I noticed my computer was getting s- l -o w- e -rHello Kr.
This kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
#run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe-mode] to disable all extensions, themes and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins, themes or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
#update all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#disable all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
#enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. Also, try the theme you want to have installed so see if that is what's causing the problem. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension/theme, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
#you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons. If you want to keep using those problematic add-ons, please contant their author for support.
Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
#try reinstalling Firefox. No data will be lost. You can get the latest version for free at [http://www.getfirefox.com/ getfirefox.com]. If that doesn't fix the problem, proceed;
#do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
#disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix your issues with Firefox, proceed;
#check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable them to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't work, proceed to the following point;
#update your modem/router software. There have been some reports that some modem/router software may cause Firefox and other browsers to loose performance and/or stability. If updating doesn't fix your issue, try other versions of the software, if possible. If you need support with this, contact your modem/router manufacturer. If this doesn't help, proceed;
#clean up your OS registry, using appropriate software. Make sure you've followed my instructions correctly, but if this all doesn't work, [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles create a new Firefox profile] (this can be temporary, of course) and see if the issues persist. Report here the results, so we can't help you further. -
I cannot watch Flash vids because Firefox uses too much CPU.
Firefox has become untenable because it uses too much CPU and disrupts Flash videos.
I've tried disabling or changing the values of plugins. Installing older versions. Nothing helps. It just sucks. It makes me want to pull someone's lungs out.Everyone has this problem, since Firefox rigged one of its Plug-ins (something to do with crash reports) about 06 months ago, to max out CPU, thereby sabotaging computer performance (including Flash videos).
Why or how they haven't fixed it before now strains belief. I have seen the same complaint everywhere. It is a major fuck-up. People want to abandon Firefox in droves, except that none of the other browsers have decent add-ons like pop-up blocker.
Sort it out, Firefox. -
Whenever it is not active, Firefox Mobile 10 constantly uses 10-40% CPU
Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4g (aka "Galaxy S 1.5") with Gingerbread.
While it is the active application, Firefox seems to be using reasonable amounts of CPU. If it is not active, though, it constantly uses 10-40%, until it gets background killed, which obviously eats through the battery.
This happens with Sync disabled.
Is there anything I can do about this, aside from file a bug and wait for v11?Letting Firefox run like this in the background and eating through a fully-charged battery in less than 3 hours is simply ludicrous. No other Android app I've ever encountered works this way. I use Firefox exclusively on my desktop and laptop and was looking forward to using it on my mobile so I could take advantage of sync. But, after finding my phone completely discharged, as soon as I had enough power to restart, I yanked Firefox off as quick as possible. Not funny. Not acceptable, especially since there is NO WARNING of this behavior. WTH are you thinking??????
