Back & Restore

Dear Gurus,
I have the following requirement:
I have a production databaser running on Dell Server with Windows 2003. I want to create a back up server for the same and it need to be updated daily evening. So i have writtent a batch fil as follows:
echo "Backup of 10g Database User"
del d:\10gDB_Backup\*.dmp
del d:\10gDB_Backup\*.log
del s:\*.dmp
exp system/oracle file=D:\10gDB_Backup\10gDB%DATE%.dmp full=Y log=D:\10gDB_Backup\10gDB.log
echo "Finished Backup"
echo "Backup of 10g Database User"
copy D:\10gDB_Backup\*.dmp s:\
echo "Finished Copying the 10g Database to Backup Server"
Now from the above file you can see i am using the exp utility and taking a full backup of the database and copying it to S drive which is nothing but one of the drives i have mapped for coping over the network to my back up server. Now on my backup server i have installed Oracle 10g Database same version as on production with the same SID. Now after doing the export can i run import on the back up server using system user to load all the data from the export file?
Will it work also i have to perform this exp/imp daily evening automatically so what will happen to the data which is on Back up will all the users data will overided or what will happen, I will be thankful if anyone can explain and guide me in performing the above mention task.
Note Db Size is 450MB.
Regards
Kiran Rana

Hi Kiran
This would work, but on test server you need to drop all the users except users like '%SYS%', dbsnmp, outln and also depends on your application if it is dependant on XDB using XMLDOM. in such case XDB user should not be dropped before import on the TEST server, after dropping you need to import.

    Hi Michellebone,
I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue with your iPad. Given your description of the issue and the symptoms you are seeing, it sounds like you may need to have your iPad evaluated or serviced. You may find the following page helpful:

  • I synced my IPhone but OK'd the wrong button (back-up from old IPhone) and deleted all my data, such as contacts, pictures, videos, notes etc. How can I get my data back, restore all my lost file?

I connected my IPhone 4 with my PC/iTunes to transfer my pictures/viedos to my PC. Unfortunately, I clicked on the wrong button when asked to sync with the old back-up files and ll my data werde deleted from my IPhone.
Is there a program for the IPhone -as it exists for my Windows PC- to restore the data by chosing the date and time when datas are lost?

  • How do I get my Contacts back/restored??   :(

I've just recently bought an iTouch 5th generation. My iTunes & new 5th generation are up to date. Everything WAS backed up & up to date on iCloud & on my computer.
I don't know what happened, but I was trying to edit things under my name in Contacts. Something happened once I hit done, then ALL my contacts somehow accidentally got deleted from my iTouch & from iCloud.
I've tried numerous times to restore my iTouch, back to the day I got, even a few days after I got it before contacts got deleted. I've tried setting it up as a new ipod & my contacts still didn't show up. Everything that was on my old iPod & iCloud shows up on my new iTouch, just not the Contacts.
WHAT'S THE SIMPLE STEP BY STEP WAY TO DO IT??

If when you go to icloud.com>Contacts and they are not there
    and
if you restored from backup. See
    iOS: How to back up
and then are not on the iPod then they are gone. Did you sync them with another app like Google Contacts then sync again to that app.

  • Can I back & restore up my pop3 emails???

I have a iphone 4 using pop3 email (GMX) which is good, no problems there. However if I want to back up and restore these emails from my iphone 4 to my new iphone 4s this is apparently not possible. Accoring to Apple support today when you do a back up the emails are NOT backed up, I mean, what is that all about, I thought that a backup was a backup, apparently not and I find this very, very dissapointing and it may be enough to send the 4s phone back.
Anyone have any ideas if this is possible?
    Thanks,
    Ally

You can backup and restore all your email settings, but not the emails themselves. (except for some web-based email systems like yahoo.com)

  • Using time machine - can you go back restore then come back to now and restore again?

    Hi
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.
I just did the latest upgrade to Snow Leopard that came out in the last week or so and my old Australian Tax Office software program called e-Record 6 no longer works.
    I have Time Machine.
I have a really dumb question.
If I go back in time to before I did the upgrade - and do a restore - do I also lose all the work and emails etc etc that I have done between then and now?
I want to go back in time - to the old version of snow leopard so that my old software works again.  While I am there I want to export all the data out of the program into a spreadsheet and print out all the records so I have them as a hard copy (so I an actually lodge a tax return) and then I want to just come straight back to now and keep going.  I don't want to lose any of the work or emails I have worked on over the past week.
Once you restore a to a time past can you then restore to a later backup - say today?
I hope I am making sense.
I really just want to time travel briefly.
    TIA

I'm not sure about the TM question; you can try reading Pondinin's TM FAQs to see if it gives a clue.
First, though, try the v1.1 update which is supposed to have fixed the issue with Rosetta created by the original version.
    If that doesn't fix it, there are a number of threads with possible solutions - this one is typical;

  • Get back Restored data!

I deleted a contact on my phone after I backed up all my information on my computer. The last backup was before I deleted the contact so it was still retreiveable. I wanted to recover it, so I restored the backup on itunes and retrieved the number I had previously deleted. Problem is, it synced all my old stuff and deleted all my new data/pictures/videos I had after the backup! I had a video on there I desperately needed! Please help!!! I dont have I-cloud or MobileMe. Just VZ contact transfer but thats only to backup contacts! I'm not sure what else to try. At this point, I'm not so sure I can restore the previous data or settings please help!

By restoring from a backup, you have restored that data, and erased all current data.
So unfortionately, you cannot retrieve the data that was erased by restoring and older backup

  • An apple tech support person did a restore and upgrade of my IPad 2.  I had backed my info up 2 weeks before.  Now, all material on my apps is gone and apple says sorry, not responsible.  they aren't helping.  can you?

Please tell me how I recover all the material I had on my computer and apps.  Don't do the system 5 upgrade!

The upgrade to iOS 5 works just fine; erasing of all the content is normal, and whoever does the upgrade is warned about that. If you want your data and settings back, restore your iPad using your most recent backup. You then just need to sync back your content and apps from iTunes.
    Regards.
P.S. Apple service is not responsible for data on any device you bring to them, as their policies state.

  • Restore "Central Address mangement" back in Contract

    Hi,
When there is no manually changed address in contract, all changes in vendor master record will be refreshed always in the Contract.
If the contract whose address details have been changed manually, then any changes to the Vendor Master Record will not be updated on the contract.
Is there any ways to link back (restore) the contract address details with the vendor master record, once the contract have changed manually?
    Thanks,
    Alex

  • Cant get back purchases. Apple ID acts as new but it has been the same email since the beginning. What to do?

So recently i realised that my ID acts like new. It cannot get back(restore) old purchases, not even inapp purchases.
I checked my emails and exatly a year ago i got an email from apple which said"welcome to itunes store" and that newbie blah blah like i just registered, but i have the receits from earlier on the same email adresse. Please help me!

    Hi,
On your iPhone delete the Apple ID you are using (As it is linked to your husband's iPhone)
On the Mac in the Finder use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
    Select the Library that appears.
    Navigate to the Preferences.
    Find the item com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist
    Drag it to the trash.
    Restart the Messages app.
It will want you to re-enter an Apple ID.
Get your own Apple ID as Eric says.
Enter this on the Mac and the iPhone.
Sharing an Apple ID is only really good for iTunes and syncing things through iCloud.
FaceTime and the iMessages account should really have their own.

  • Ipad 1 to Ipad 3. Best way to restore. the facts

Fastest way to restore from #ipad backup is still desktop as long as nothing else is running. Make sure as much cpu time is as free as can
Best way to ensure cpu time free for back restore #ipad is to make sure close as many browser tabs as possible. If not keep browser closed.
    iCloud Restore mythology
Myth: iCloud restore more reliable than itunes restore. This is is simply wrong. States most reliable way to backup & restore an #ipad is via the cloud. More later. http://techglobex.blogspot.com/2012/04/transfer-and-exchange-old-ipad-data.html …
Myth; Pressing apps restarts icloud download. Not exactly. Pressing on apps during icloud restore only speeds up those apps being downloaded ahead of everything else per apple. #ipad #icloud
Myth:My ipad icloud restore is very slow, something is wrong,  and Apple doesnt know. Wrong Apple knows "1-4 gigs/hr"
The proof of the slow restores https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3811611?start=0&tstart=0 … in other words #icloud #ipad doing exactly what expected.             If you read between the lines any #icloud restore of #ipad with 10-40 gigs is going to take days. Guess what. that's what's been reported.
"... even with  fast ... connection, often take around 1-4 hours per gigabyte to complete a ...restore" http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4036 . #icloud #ipad
The purpose of the restore is one the road to get a as much of settings running as possible and allowing you to select what comes first. its not  for rapid total restore of lots of gigs.

  • Restoring my 3GS enterprise profiles to iPhone 5 via iTunes, not working

    Hi.
I have my main iPhone, 3GS running 5.1.1, having two essential enterprise profiles, coporate mail and enterprise WiFi profiles. I keep a regular complete and manual backup of the iOS w/ iTunes. Profiles were configured on a coporate notebook which I don't have my hands on at the moment, where iPhone backups are taken only from my personal computer, a Mac.
So I get my hands on a brand new iPhone 5, running latest iOS, 6.0.2. I activate it by inserting the nano sim provided by our local operator, I plug it to my Mac to restore latest phone backup on it. I finish restoring *everything* and getting all the stuff of apps, apps data, pics and mailbox perfectly to my new iPhone, wait a minute! Except for the enterprise profiles.
What should I do to get the profiles back. Why iTunes is not backing/restoring them? I can't switch to iPhone 5 as a main phone without these, it will not workout for me.
    Appreciate your inputs and help.

If you have not already reverted the look and feel to be like iTunes 10 then
    View > Show Sidebar
    View > Show Statusbar
click on the black arrow in the search box and untick Search Entire Library
Now you should be able to drag and drop onto your phone or use the sync pages

  • How do I save and restore Session?

Is it possible to have a user leave the site for a period of
time, say 2 or 3 days, and when they come back, restore their last
session and all the session variables? I have an idea of building a
database and writing them all to the db on each page load with the
last visited page, and then resetting from that on their next
visit, but is there an easier way through Cold Fusion that I'm not
aware of? Any assistance is apprecaited.

I had a client that had hundreds of session variables
scattered in hundreds of CF pages. There was very little CFLOCKing,
and consequently the apps were quite unstable in a loaded
    environment.
What I finally did was to copy the session scope variables to
ses.request scope variables of the same name, then did a global
replace of session. with ses.request. In OnRequestEnd.cfm, and
immediately before all CFLOCATIONs, I copied ths ses.request scope
back to session scope (locked, of course). There was no measurable
performance hit, and the apps were rock solid.
Perhaps you could copy your client variables to session
scope; then back again in OnRequestEnd.cfm

  • What exactly does Restore do?

Forgive me if this has been covered before, but I did search and didn't find my specific answers.
I synced my bookmarks with my Safari browser on my PC. All is good, except that the sync also copied the default bookmark folders "bookmark bar" and "bookmarks", which are both empty and redundant on my Touch. They are listed 2nd and 3rd on the Touch bookmarks list, taking up valuable space! But, since they're default folders, I can not delete them, just like the "History" folder on the Touch.
Anyway, I've read that the only way to remove them is to restore my iPod, and never sync bookmarks from Safari again. (IMHO it seems completely crazy that syncing from one Safari to another would be so problematic!)
So, what exactly does Restore do? I know it resets the ipod to factory settings, but what happens to all my bookmarks and webclippings? Is there anyway to back those up and edit my bookmarks manually to remove the two default folders?? Because if not, it seems that this wouldn't be a fix at all, instead just a big ol pain in the arse. This is a very annoying bug and I hope it is fixed in the next update. :/
    Any help is very appreciated!

Assuming you're using Windows (going by your system specs)...if you have bookmarks you need to preserve only for the touch, export all your current Internet Explorer (IE) bookmarks/favorites to a file and back that up. Then delete ALL bookmarks in IE & sync your bookmarks only using iTunes (IE has to be open for the bookmark sync to work properly). Your bookmarks will sync with IE and only the ones that were on your touch should be in your current IE bookmarks. Now export those bookmarks to a different file. When you want to restore the touch and it's bookmarks, sync the touch and select the option to over-write/replace the bookmarks on the touch. To get your Windows IE bookmarks back, restore from the first backup file you made. Note that the sort order after importing the bookmarks back into IE will be alphabetical rather than by when the bookmark was added. I don't think there's any getting around that.
As far as deleting the default folders you're looking to get rid of, I don't believe that it's currently possible.
