Background image - can't remove it !!

I'm new to pages and a medium mac user. I have just started a brochure using the template in pages. However, it has an object or text box that is a hibiscus flower & is in the background - but I can't select it - so I can't remove it. I've looked at help - is it a master object ? HELP. I need to get rid of it !

Hi Kathie,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The question you're asking involves a poorly documented feature of Pages. Here's how to do it: click on View > Show Layout. You'll notice the document margins appear. Click outside the margin, and the cursor will disappear. Now drag your cursor to the edge of the object, and it will highlight. Good luck.

  • Page background image can't be seen by certain users

hi! i'm using portal v3.0.9.8.3 and oracle db v8.1.7.0
i've created a page style with background image. I applied the page style to a page i created and assign some users to this default page.
problem is only some users can see the page with background image. they are have the same security settings and rights. but if i change the color of the tab, all users can see this change.
    any suggestions?
    thx.

You may already know, browsers always cache css/images/js files. So if you would like to force browser to download new version of the files, you need to updated reference of the files using some kind of query string "http://server/test.css?version=XXX",
where on every updated you update the version 'XXX' to some new value. Usually we do this using some kind of programmatic approach - for example in my project I update the css/images/js links using the dll/assemlby modified date. So that every time I deploy
a new sharepoint solution, the files urls get changed.

  • Disk Image - can't remove?

I read a recent article in MacWorld about how to lock data on an external drive by creating a password protected disk image on that drive.
I decided to dedicate 800 Gb of a new 1 Tb drive to this so I could have a repository for all my finished projects for years to come. After working with it for a couple days, I decided I didn't really like the way this worked, so I decided to just erase the entire drive and start from scratch. I used the Disk Utility to erase it using Mac OS Extended just as I had a few days before when I first set up the drive.
However, now that I'm adding data to this drive, it almost seems like there are remnants from the disk image because I seem to be running out of space more quickly than should be the case.
I dismounted and remounted the drive and the disk image seems to be gone. I restarted my computer to see if that would make a difference. Again, the disk image is gone, but the 1 TB drive seems to be running out of room.
Any thoughts about what I'm missing here?

A disk image file would not survive a successful volume erase by Disk Utility. If what you see in the Finder doesn't seem to add up to the "Used" space reported when you Get Info on the external volume, I would first check the volume for directory damage by using Disk Utility's Repair Disk, and then would try running the freeware utility [OmniDiskSweeper|http://www.omnigroup.com/products/omnidisksweeper]. This can be useful for showing disk space utilization, including space used by hidden files.

  • 7941 background image

    Hi,
Anyone knows if a new background image can be made default for all phones?
I need to roll out 1500 phones or so who all need a logo, and I don't want to use the idle url
    thanks

The issue is not that I can't get the custom background image on the phone. I have a custom background on the phone, but the line appearance deviders (The lines above and below each line label) extend completely across the display over top of the background image. For example, I have 6 buttons comfigured on a 7961G phone which causes 7 lines to cross all the way across the phone display. If I have 3 lines configured only 4 lines extend across the display.
I am asking if there is any way to remove the lines deviding the phone-line labels that are going across the display over top of the custom background image.
I was at a store the other day and saw that their 7961 phone had a background image and the line labels only had boxes around them. The line label deviders did not extend across the phone any farther than the line label text. This is what I would like to configure. I'm not sure if the phone was useing Callmanger or a SIP server though.

  • Adding a background image with HTML?

Just a quick one. Want to add a background image to the html

You can place the image in flash. Flash has onResize handler
    which in conjunction with
listener, can detect the changes in stage, scale movie to
    fill the window while preventing
other content from scaling. This is very common, when we
    resize background to fill window
but hold the content intact. Try to search the forum for
    "onResize". That's the only case,
in most posts, where we deal with the exact same issue as the
    one you looking for.

  • Making background image clickable link

I have several div tags with background images in them.  I want to make the background images clickable links.  what is the easiest way to do this?

Yes, the background image can be made clickable.
Here is the link to get the info to one method: http://ran.ge/2009/11/11/css-trick-turning-a-background-image-into-a-clickable-link/
Basically it is written like this:
    ==CSS==
    #bkgrdimage {
        background-image:url ('image.png');
        display:block;
        height:??px;       (image height)
        width:??px;        (image width)
        text-indent:-9999px;
    ==HTML==
    <a href="http://????" title="Title of Link" id="bkgrdimage">Basic Text For this Link</a>
The text indent places the "basic text for this link" outside the browser screen.

  • Background image from one slide appearing in all slides after and I can't remove it

    Hello,
I'm modifying a course created with Captivate 5, in Captivate 7 and for some reason the background image from slide 35 is appearing in all slides after that one and I can't remove it. The most interesting thing is that when you look at the slides in the film strip they look different (like the original) than the one on the work area which contains the background image I'm trying to remove (screenshot below).
    Any ideas or comments?
    Thank you.

    Hi Lilybiri,
Thank you for your prompt response. That was it!!!! You are awesome! I tried so many things and I don't know how that setting changed to "rest of project". Great thing to check next time.
    I greatly appreciate your help.
    Have a great day.

  • Can't remove background image completely

    Hi there,
I'm making a site at the moment using the Darkroom theme but I'd like to totally remove the background image. When I go into layout and turn off page background and browser background it removes it from round the edges but not from the main bit of the page. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!
    Simon

Couldn't seem to make this solution work. I stupidly designed an entire site before testing how a page would load with this theme. SLOW.
I tried making a 1x1pixel transparent gif and a 1x1 white jpg, both with the same name as the original "darkroom_spotlight.jpg" file. When I re-open iWeb it doesn't change a thing, even though that original jpg is no longer in the theme package...
EDIT: Looks like this takes care of the spotlight in FUTURE pages, but does nothing for my completed site. Please tell me if you know of a way to take out the textured background from Darkroom-themed pages that are already. I would gladly sub in a similarly toned greyscale if possible.

  • Why can't I select background images in Pages 5?

So I've got a document with an image of a Gantt Chart, and it's been formatted to be in the background.
When I try to insert a new page before this image, it overlays the text of another page.
Trying to find 'select background images' is no where to be found, whereas in Pages 09, it was fine.
I'm all for simplicity, but removing something like this, and not being able to select this image at all?
    Is there anything I've missed?

This is not the answer to the original question but it is an answer to a related problem.
Apparently, Apple removed the simple and useful "Send Object to Background" menu item. For the last half an hour I was straggling to put my signature image under my name in a letter. The image background is white. So, when I insert the image, it is on top of the text and blocking it.
Then, I searched and found this discussion, it helped but not solved the problem. I found a solution inspired by this discussion. Here, what I tried to send an image to the background.
Chose the image in question. When I selected "Arrange -> Section Masters -> Move Object to Page" as suggested in this thread, it moves the image to the background. BUT, the image appears on every page at the same position within the section. If the document is a single-section document (almost all my documents are single-section documents, as I use Pages for short simple documents like letters (in the near future, I'll say "I used to use Pages", as this kind of feature removal makes it unfeasible to use it anymore).
Thus, you have to define a new section which should contain only the page in question. Enough rumbling! Here is exactly what I did:
Let N be the page number on which you wish to put an object in the background.
Go to page N (your cursor must be somewhere on that page)
On the toolbar choose "Setup -> Section Tab -> Create a new section -> Starting with this page"
    Go to page N+1
On the toolbar choose "Setup -> Section Tab -> Create a new section -> Starting with this page"
Now, you have a single-page-section on page N.
Put you object on page N
    Select the object (image)
On the menu, choose "Arrange -> Section Masters -> Move Object to Page"
Also, I recommend to enable by "Arrange -> Section Masters -> make Master Objects Selectable"
You can put any number of objects on page N by repeating on steps 5 to 8.
The problem is, however, if you continue to edit your document and and sections gets longer, it will start a new page at the end of that section. Which is awful, because you'll have to remove the sections, and start from scratch, or manually move the text from one section to the other. So, do this after you are done with the document. Pity!
If anyone have a better solution it will be appreciated.
    -- o --
Now, I will continue to nag, if you allow me. When I open an old Pages document with images in the background, it opens just fine. It is not selectable as the original author stated. This indicate that Pages still support background objects independent of the sections, it just doesn't offer in interface to that facility. Why?
I had a fairly large number of letters and templates I created with Pages. Before it is too late, I'll abandon it.
I have a similar experience with iWeb. Apple promoted it, and then abandon it. Now all of my class pages (http://web.boun.edu.tr/akdogan) look too 2000s style, but I don't have energy to convert them something else at this point, but I'll have to.
So I will continue to use LaTeX for long documents (that has been the choice for a long time), but I'll switch back to almost equally annoying Word for short and medium documents.
Again, pity! I used to like Pages.

  • Can you "bleed" a background image through a DW template?

I'm in the process of redesigning a simple site and am fairly new to working with DW. I created a template with navigation along the left side and a content box on the right. The client requests a background image (which I set in the CSS body tag). However, once I set the content portion of the template it sits on top of the background image (effectively blocking out portions of the background image). I need it to "bleed" through so that the background image covers the entire screen content.
Example: http://www.mchenrycac.org/test/index.html (or see image in the attachment)
Can anyone suggest how to get the image to show through the content portion of the template?
    Russ

It took me a few "tries" to place the code in the right place (and a few
different iterations of the example given on the site) but the opacity tag
does work as suggested. Setting the opacity to 100% allows the entire
background to bleed through as I needed.
I had to completely remove the suggested CSS tags for IE7 and IE8 however
and go with just the opacity tag. Tested this in IE8 and Firefox and both
display the opacity correctly with the single opacity statement:
    .opaque
The class was added to the table statement in my template (the table that
contains the content area for every web page) and works beautifully. Thank
    you for the quick response...

I have done with my editing 2days back.. I have added background image removing blue screen..
But after the cd was burned, while watching it on TV/PC the video was shaking fully.. I didn't have this problem before..
Now, I want to remove the background image and keep the blue screen as it is.. how can i get it? I just want to remove background image without disturbing any editing part(Cuts).
    Thank you..

Select all the clips with a key, right click, and select remove effects. This will remove all the effects for those clips so you will loose any colour correcting or other changes you might have done.

  • How to remove background image in Theme Editor

    Hi there,
In Theme Editor > [theme] > Portal Body  there is the option for background colour as well as background image. I had a background image declared before and would like to remove it again. If i write "none" the theme won't save (script error). I can't find the reference to the image in the theme.zip either. Thanks four your help.

Thanks, Benjamin, I'm aware of that. But this solution is rather bad on performance. We run an FPN with our Intranet, xAPPS and BI. Now imagine all the background colors and background images loading one after the other before you can see the application. This happens regardles of whether they are empty or transparent. In IE it flickers and flackers about ten times and takes 10 seconds before you can carry on with your work. That's suboptimal.

  • How to remove background image per action

    Hi!
I just created a wonderful action, but there's still one step I can't get working.
    I am optimzing scanned PDFs.
First step: Preflight: Convert to greyscale.
Second step: Optimize PDF: All filters set to high. This separates the background of the scan from the scanned text. Both marked as image, not as background image.
Third step: Remove the backmost image. Can't get that working.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much!

There may be a preflight script to remove the image, but it might get rid of all images. You can also use the Object Touchup Tool (or the new name that I forget) to select the background image and delete it. You would have to do it on each page.

  • Remove borders around background images in toolbar..

I'm using RH8 in Win 7 to output webhelp, and I'm creating a new skin. I've used the Webhelp skin editor to add button images and a toolbar background. But after generation, if the browser is resized to > the image width then the image repeats and the join between them is obvious:
I'm guessing that this is a css setting somewhere, but I don't know where.
I also want to remove the gap between the button images, and assume that there's a css tweak that can do that to.
Does anyone know how these borders and gaps can be removed?
    Thanks

OK, cancel this error - RH8 was bevhaving fine - the graphic came back from gfx with a thin border around it, and that caused the vertical bar when it repeated. Should have spotted this earlier, my bad.

  • In linux, saving a background image (set as Desktop)feature doesnt download my image to wallpaper folder..or even to standard "Save download" feature. Can I tell firefox where (what folder) to save my "Set as Desktop" picture?

When I find a suitable picture to use as wallpaper" I often right click and use the menu item "Set as Desktop Background". The file ""example.jpg" is saved in directory\folder "/home/user" rather than for example "/home/user/my wallpaper" or in the directory
"/home/user/Downloads". The latter as being set under the "Downloads" section on the "General" tab in the "Preferences" dialog box.
Is there a configuration file where I can change the default location to save my "Set as Desktop Background" images. Or better still can the menu be customized to launch the application that allows me to set my desktop wallpapers?
I am using the "PCLinuxOS" Linux OS but I have encountered this issue in many if not all the Linux distributions I have sampled.

Don't use "Set as Desktop". Use ''' "Save Image As..." ''' instead, and file it with your other "wallpaper" images so the operating system has access to those images.
IIRC, Firefox saves a "desktop image" to the Profile folder, and it will only save one image, at that. Change the image and the previous one is gone.
