  • Add a link from image in web app

    I need to add a link to social media site in a static image in a web app detail layout.
    I have thought this would be...
    <a href="{tag_facebook}"><img alt="" src="/_assets/css/images/social-facebook.png" /></a>
    but this displays the link bedside the icon.
    I have tried field type "Text string (Hyperlink)" and "Text string (String)".
    any help appreciated.
    thanks megan

    Hey Liam,
    Franchise list of stores added to a web app abd each store can have a different link added to the icon.
    The icon is hard coded into the layout
    The url needs to change for each
    e.g. 15 Stores, some have their own Facebook page, some will link to a central Facebook page.
    So the icon is static in the web app detail layout, but url changes.
    When I add the code
    <a href="{tag_facebook}"><img alt="" src="/_assets/css/images/social-facebook.png" />
    the result in browser looks like...
    thanks Liam

  • No vector images in web-app for iPhone !?

    Hello
    I am developping a web-app for the iPhone
    as the bandwith is low (in edge mode) I want to use vector images instead of bitmaps (gif, png ...)
    - but flash (.swf) is not supported
    - SVG is not supported, only Canvas is supported
    - but no "Canvas editor" is available (I don’t want to draw icones using hundreds of javascript lines ! )
    - and no "SVG,SWF -> Canvas" convertor is available
    Am I wrong ?
    Is there any solution ?
    Is 1.1.3 now solving the problem (SVG now supported ?)
    thank you for your help
    Michel

    additional remark:
    I made some tests, a vectorized icon could be 30 times smaller (and therefore faster to load) than its ".png" version !
    15ko in edge mode = about 1 second to wait ...

  • Changing background image of web-page

    I'm having problems changing the background image on the web-page. I want to use a custom image (one which I own.) But when I use the Page Inspector function to change it - it only changes the bottom half of the page with my custom image. The top half is the original iWeb template. I've tried adjusting the page size numbers, but the image simply does not move up! What's up with that? How can I change the entire background of the page to use my custom image? I feel like it should be a lot easier than it seems.

    The Darkroom is one theme that can't be user modified. You would be best served to create a blank page in the Darkroom theme, make a screenshot of the background w/o the spotlight in the center (a slice about 800 x 50 pixels would work well) and use it for the browser background in the Black theme so you get the white/light color navbar text.

  • Div Background Image...Resize To Fit Browser Window...???

    [b]hello again[/b]...
    I would like to have a background image (.jpg) automatically resize to fit any browser's window...& I read somewhere on the web it should be accomplished by placing the image in a layer (as a background image); & then set the layer size to 100%.
    can someone please tell me how the coding goes for this...?
    [or...if that [i]is[/i] in fact the correct approach?  I don't care if it's html or css...I just want it to work.  (&...I'm starting off w/ a larger image (so resolution doesn't get lost when going bigger)]
    thanks very much,
    [b]mark4man[/b]
    btw - I should add that it's the image's [i]WIDTH[/i] I'm interested in resizing...while it's aspect ration remains in tact.

    For the record, I'm not a big fan of huge background images on web pages. They take forever to load on slow connections.  And some mobile devices won't display them at all. So all that weight just for eye candy is kind of a waste IMO.
    I think the safest, most practical way to achieve backgrounds that fill available viewport is to use a small, seemless tile and repeat horizontally, vertically or both.

  • Can I use Web App data string (image) in a CSS hover function?

    I am developing a "show and tell" company employee profile using the Web App. I built my list item and the detailed items. Works fine. However, I have no hover function. So I created  some css - a div id and added a background image then a div hover with another image for the hover. This worked. I moved the code over from Dreamweaver to BC – inside the Web App (the list template). I replaced the image paths with the Web App data string - image ( ex. {tag_employee photo} ). Then I did the same for the hover – I switched out the image to the data string ( ex., {tag_employee photo2} ). It doesn't work now.
    All the CSS is written inside the body so it's not pulling from an outside path. I figured an outside path may not understand the data string.
    How can I get this to link with the image data string? Am I missing something?
    How can I create a image switch using CSS and the hover function WITH the BC Web App data strings?
    Below is how I wrote the DIV id:
    # List_photo {
        height: 200px;
        width: 200px;
        background-image:url("{tag_employee photo (200px)}");
        position: relative;
        margin-bottom:10px;
        display:block;
    # List_photo:hover {
        height: 200px;
        width: 200px;
        background-image:url("{tag_employee photo (hover)}");
        position: relative;
        margin-bottom:10px;
        display:block;
    Thanks!
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    The concept of what you are doing will work (so long as the <style>s are on the actual page) but you need to append '_value' to any image tag to get the image url and not the HTML output of the image.
    So your tag would be {tag_employee photo (hover)_value}

  • How to Upload Web App images to different server?

    Hello,
    is it possible to configure web app item submission so images are uploaded to a different server (not BC)?
    Customers are uploading lots of images with their web app items and I'm really getting short on server storage. Buying extra space in BC servers is a bit expensive, especially when I need loads of it. Smart thing would be to AUTO resize images to take much less space in the server but this is not possible with BC as no back end is allowed (maybe this could good improvement in next releases? "Auto resizing images to the value indicated"). Some customers are uploading images of up to 9 MB size X 20. I could limit upload size (i guess), but thats a big hit to UX, they should then bother resizing their images on some software before uploading.
    So far my solution is to simply download images from the server, resize them manually with PS and then upload them back again. Maybe someone knows better solution than photoshop to automate the resizing process? I actually can automate the process with PS but image names changes and this is another problem. So a program to auto resize loads of images and keep their original names?
    Another solution could be manually storing images to another server and retyping the links in web app items, but its a bit too crazy
    Thanks

    Hi Ray,
    Indeed, this is not possible as an 'out of the box' feature and looks like a long-shot if attempting to use a separate server for storage.

  • How do I add image upload to web app edit template?

    How do I add image upload to web app edit template. When creating fields I am selecting image from the field type. But the only way to upload and image is when I create the web app item within the admin. The option to upload an image is not available when the user submit web form opens.
    Wont send any of these questions through this email anymore but really needed assistance.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

    On the Details tab of the Web App setup, under Web App Item Options; have you ticked "Allow File Upload" and specified a Default Upload Folder?

  • Uploading values for an image field in a web app. Nothing displays in layout.

    I've uploaded the values (using the import) for a field defined as an image in a web app. When I try to display the field, nothing shows up. The value correctly shows up when I look at Web App items after the upload / import. I've uploaded the same value in a text field, just to learn what was happening, and the text field displays the image just fine when added to the layout.
    I would like to use the image field type, as it's easier to correctly create the link when the web app is updated in the future.
    Here is what works in the layout: <a href="{tag_link to page}"> <img alt="" class="column66_award_thumb" id="thx" src="{tag_image thumb}" /></a>
    Note that {tag_image thumb} is a text field with the link stored in it. The value for each Web App Item which populates this field is a link to the image. (i.e. /Awards/139.jpg)
    Here is what I want to work: <a href="{tag_link to page}"> <img alt="" class="column66_award_thumb" id="thx" src="{tag_thumbnail image_value}" /></a>  , where {tag_thumbnail image_value} refers to a field defined as an image in the web app. It has the exact same value as {tag_image thumb}. I just copied the field values in the Excel spreadsheet (saved as .csv) when I uploaded it.
    It looks like the image field works fine only when I manually create it in the web app. If this is the case, using the upload capability disables any ability to use the image field type.
    Is there a workaround for this? Am I missing something?
    The page I'm working on is http://www.e-a-a.com/awards  When you view the source, you can see that the small thumbnail images are displaying just fine. (I'm using the text field). Whenever I substitute the image field name {tag_thumbnail image}, {tag_thumbnail image_nolink}, or {tag_thumbnail image_value}, the src value is always null.
    How do I fix?

    Hi there,
    To do it properly you need to resize the image. Prefably before you put it into BC. While you can for scale the image in CSS you do not want to do this. Why? Because the images are still very big and likely not optimised as they should be for the web.
    This means the page with these images will take a very long time to load for people, and people wont be to happy about that viewing your site.
    You need to use software such as photoshop if you have it or iphoto on a mac for example to edit, crop and size images before you upload them. If you do not have anything you can use free web based tools such as this one:
    http://pixlr.com/editor/
    You can also do this within BC itself in the file manager. If you click the image you can see options to resize it. The downside of that is that is done by pure math. It does not know what is in the photo and the results can make the image look squished etc.

  • Is there any solution for convert document spreadsheet presentation to images with Office Web Apps?

    Hi there!
    Is there any solutions for convert document spreadsheet presentation to images with Office Web Apps?

    Hi,
    As far as I know, there is no build-in feature that convert Office file to image format in Office web app yet.
    I'll collect the information, and submit it with internal ways. Then, we could also submit the feedback here:

    Some email images do not show while using the icloud web app.  I can see the images on my IOS devices and in gmail but I only see a small gray box in the icloud web mail app.  Load HTML images is checked in preferences.  Is there a solution to this issue?

    I've seen the opposite issue.  My wife recieved an email with jpg attachments.  She couldn't see or print them on her iPhone 4S but they showed up fine in iCloud or in the mail app.  I had her forward the email to herself and then they showed up.  I assume there is an issue with how Apple is processing the attachments and resending causes them to get reformatted in a way that makes them easier to handle.
    So yeah.  Seems like some bugs.  Hope Apple fixes them soon.

  • Automatic image compression for photo gallery web apps?

    Is it possible to scale and compress images to a maximum size when uploading to a web app? This is for a photo gallery that allows public submissions, and we are anticipating that we will get lots of photos that are very large. This is a task that would be best handled by a server-side image processing lib, but is there another way since we don't have that on BC?
    Thanks!

    I understand that you are probably concerned with data storage limits when asking this question. But, you can create thumbnails when displaying images within the photo gallery. This will allow a very large image to display very quickly within the gallery.

  • Background image for BPF web page

    Hi all,
    I'm building a web page that shows a BPF. I would like to set an image as backgroung for this web page.
    In the BPC help I have read that the image should be located in /webfolders/<appset>AppSetPublications\BPFBackground folder on the server.
    Does anyone know how to upload there the image? The only way I see is using BPC for excel, but it only allows to upload excel files, no images.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ana

    Hi Ana,
    You will have to add a new webpage in BPC Web content library.
    Using the BPF object in the webpage, you can select your BPF and can also add the respective background image to it.
    Hope this helps you.

    Nithya
