Background Task Button Blinking/Eject Message

My background task button does not stop blinking. It seems to be rapidly changing between 0 and 100 percent.
Clips in my Timeline do render. Then the button continues with the blinking. When I play my project, it stops blinking and reads 0 percent.
What is the problem? How can I stop this?
I am using a Late 2013 Retina 15-inch MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.2, FCPX 10.1.1. My Project is on a Lacie Rugged Thunderbolt external drive.
One more issue: I frequently get a message that my drive was not properly ejected. This usually happens when I'm idle for more than about 2-3 minutes. I'm not sure if the problems are related.
The problem also sometimes happens when I connect my FireWire 800/Thunderbolt adapter.
BTW, I read about this ejection issue on another site. There was no solution posted.

Don't know whether this will help but it's worth a try.
Corrupt preferences can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.

1. Ensure that FCP X is selected.
2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.

I'm working on an Application where I use background task for handling Bluetooth communication. For that, I'm trying to exchange messages between foreground and background tasks when the Bluetooth device sends
something and want to notify the foreground about it. Similarly, I want the foreground to send messages to background when the user activates something. I've started doing that using event handlers but it is not reliably working. Looks like the problem is
coming from the synchronization between these two tasks. I found the class BackgroundMediaPlayer which does what I really want , except controlling the media player. What are the options of doings that?

Background task/app eating battery life away?

Checked a dozen blog/websites, handful of email, 15min of games, 30-45min phone calls. Email fetch was on 30min intervals. Auto lock 1min.
I got about
Usage: 3 Hours, 25 minutes
Standby: 23Hours, 10 minutes
~50% battery left
Listen to a few songs on the iphone in iPod mode. Press "Pause" button then sleep button at top then went to sleep. Woke up the next morning
I got about
Usage: 11 Hours, 31 minutes
Standby: 1 Day, 8 Hours
20% battery left (iphone warned be battery was low at 20%)
I don't get how my usage went from 3 Hours to 11 Hours, unless iPod in pause mode counts as a usage while i was sleeping. But i also pressed the sleep button to turn off the screen so whats going on? Ate like 30% of my battery or more.

I know 3g eats more power but that is not the problem I'm asking about.
50% battery life after 3hr usage & 23hr standby...
Left ipod mode on sleep for 8hrs. Battery dropped to 20%.
so it would seem that leaving ipod on pause for 8hours eat 30% battery life over 8hrs? I expect leaving iPod on standby to eat way less power than that.
maybe it is a bug? 8hrs on pause counts as 8hrs of usage? or maybe there was a background task eating battery away since the usage went from 3hrs to 11hrs over night.

Two transactions, same program, processed in background task problem

i got something here that bugs me.
I have done a report. Nothing special, simple selection screen, selection of data, and output via SALV.
One of my selection screen fields (a parameter) is VKBUR and it is "obligatory".
2 weeks ago i got the requirement to create a copy of this program, and adopt VKBUR as select option.
Since i didnt want changeanomalies i decided not to duplicate the program, but just add a second transaction to my program.
In a routine at event at-selection-screen output, i´m hiding either the parameter or the select option, depending on which tcode was used.
In some routine which gets triggered at the event at-selection-screen i´m moving either what we got in our parameter to our local range we use for the select, or just assign the select option to our local range, or process an error message if according field is not filled. Yeah that obligatory condition is done by myself since i cant just set the obligatory addition to the statement.
This all works quite fine so far.
BUT:
Today i hear that the end-users process that report in background task by pressing F9.
Problem is now that when it is processed in background task, sy-tcode is initial, so i dont know which of the transactions the user picked, and so i dont know which of the two fields has to be filled.
Sure i could do another report, containing just my second selection screen, and when this is checked, do a submit on my real report, tho i still believe there must be some more elegant way.
Any ideas?

Unfortunateley those subtotals cant be handeled by the layout, thats why i manually add them.
But you got me back on track! right now i´m for your solution.
right now i´m having just ONE selection screen with the select option on it.
User can decide if he fills just one value or more.
In the end i loop over my output table and look if there are records of different VKBUR´s.
If there are i know he wants subtotals and process them. If its just data of one VKBUR i can spare myself the hassle as there is anyway just one records per VKBUR so subtotaling this wouldnt make sense.

'Missing parameter with PERFORM' error with a function IN BACKGROUND TASK

I am getting this error when calling a custom function in MIGO user exit ZXMBCU01. When I remove the 'IN BACKGROUND TASK' the function works fine and there are no error messages. When using 'IN BACK...' you can't debug within it to see where the message comes from. I see the message with SM58. I am working in an sap 4.7 environment. I have not found any solutions from google searches.

Background Task on Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements Organizer "hangs"

I recently upgraded my software from Elements 10 to Elements 12 and had a bit of trouble. Apparently both 10 and 12 have a way of launching an executable in the background which tends to get "stuck" on my system. I believe the problem may be related to the network configuration and software mix I live with, but I need to confirm my suspecions and find a way to control the problem. Here is what I know... I have always experienced a lot of problems using Elements with my NAS device which is a 1TB usb 2.0 connected disk system attached to my Linksys E3000 Router. When I got the router, the BIOS software did not correctly support NTFS file systems, but subsequent updates eventually made this possible if you formatted the removable drive on a system in NTFS, you could then hang it on the router and "see" the contents, serve them via Windows Media Player, or iTunes, etc., etc. from a computer atteched to the network, or via wirless directly off the router. I archived all my photos out on this file system and have successfully indexed it for use with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements Organizer, but... When I went to install Elements 12 software I tried to install it without first removing Elements 10, and on a system which had run Elements 10 since the last full reoboot. During the install of 12 under "shared services install" the installation process "Hung" on a background task with a name like "AdobeElementsAnalyzer.exe" which only shows up in Windows 7 task manager as a running process, not as a full program, but because the file was locked by the system, the install hung. I eventually figured out that I needed to start the install of Elements 12 software immediately after having rebooted so that this program was not present in the background, and succeeded in completing an install of Elements 12 on my Windows 7 X64 system. This system required a "special" software download for Premiere Elements, but not for Photoshop Elements which is only apparently avaliable under 32bit emulation mode. I finally got the "shared components" portion of the X64 Premiere Elements to complete an install, and then set about verifying the onversion/upgrade of the indexes to my photos and video stored out on the NAS. The same rogue task which prevented me from doing the install showed up agian, taking all the system resources away from my dual processor Intel chip and refusing to let go. I was forced to terminate it from the task manager. I strongly suspect that my "issues" are in part due to the extrordinary network latency imposed by the drive connection I'm using to index my photos and videos, and I'm looking for a better approach to using the editors against my master catalog of files, as well as figruing out just what I need to do to insure that all the files I have stored on the drive are accessible by the organizer when I need to pull a copy to work on.
A complication is that I have two "legacy" Windows XP systems on my network, a reasonably fast Windows Vista Business desktop, and the Windows 7 X64 processor system which is the most powerful system I have. The Windows file security enhancements to NTFS changed from XP, to Vista, to Windows 7, so files which get saved to the NAS disk inherit a variety of different levels of security under windows. I have occasionally gone to one of my old XP boxes and "wiped" the security settings by resetting everything via Windows XP. Because the NAS is so slow, this process can take several hours and must not be interrupted by attempts to do anything affecting the NAS by any of my other networked computers. To avoid problems with my photo archive, it makes sense to me to do all my editing on copies which have been extracted from the NAS archive and stored on the C: drive (boot drive) of my Win X64 system.
What I seriously need to know is this: When/If I define a "watched" portion of my file system, rather than taking the time to manually import every little change to my photo archives, can I expect the Photoshop Elements Organizer to work properly as long as everything stored on the NAS is stored via the same system which runs Elements with the same active "user" in control so that all the windows 7 file security settings putting stuff on the mapped NAS drive remain properly secured under Win 7 X64? Frankly I don't care if the files appear "read only" to every other system and identity on my network, but I do need to be able to "see" them. I have been able to view slide shows and movies stored on the NAS via both my networked iPad, my Apple TV, and using Samsung's funky android and Windows compatible software. Frankly, I doubt that Microsoft or Apple has full understanding and control of the environment where there is no host "server" other than the eprom based stuff my Linksys E3000 loads to emulate early Windows Media Management architecture, but I mange to get it to work as long as I don't try anything sophisticated with the file permissions. As a fall back, can I expect individual "imported" bits out on the NAS to remain stable if indexed and used only by the Elements Organizer running on my Win 7 X64 system?
I am seriously considering converting an old WinXP desktop into a UNIX box which could be configured as a "Server" for everything stored on the NAS and be done with my problems in return for the power required to run the server all the time so stuff is there when I need it. Any recommendations?

Adobe hasn't said whether it officially supports PSE 7 on Windows 7. But reports are starting to trickle in that PSE 7 works fine on Windows 7 for most people, though a couple people have reported crashes. My PSE 7 seems to work fine, though I primarily use PSE 8 now. This is all very preliminary, and we'll learn more as more people post here.

FM call in background task

Hi,
I have called a function module in background task. Inside this FM I create application log and put in all the messages in the log which can be viewed using the transaction SLG1. But if the creation of the log fails I want to display the info to the user and exit the FM. I cannot display the info using the Message statement here. I tried to raise an exception, etc. from this FM so that I can process the exception in the calling FM and display a message. But this does not work as the execution of the calling FM and called FM in rfc proceeds simultaneosly. I know I can see the error using transaction sm58 but I am looking for an option wherein I can directly inform the user. Does someone have a suggestion how can proceed with this?

There are two ways for you to handle,
one manually setting up the job through SM36 which is better and convinient,
secondly through program using FM's JOB_OPEN, SUBMIT, JOB_CLOSE.
Find below steps in doing both:
Procedure 1:
1. Goto Trans -> SM36
2. Define a job with the program and variant if any
3. Click on start condition in application tool bar
4. In the pop-up window, click on Date/Time
5. Below you can see a check box "Periodic Job"
6. Next click on Period Values
7. Select "Other Period"
8. Now give '15' for Minutes
9. Save the job
In SM37 u can check the status of the jobs that u have assigned to background...
Here u mention the job name or the report name to check the status of the job...
After mentioning the job name or program name u just execute it.. ( without any name also u can execute then it gives u all the jobs set by your user name..
the status colud be released,active,finished etc..
Procedure 2 via Program:
Below is a sample code for the same. Note the ZTEMP2 is the program i am scheduling with 15mins frequency.

Using "in background task" in BAPIs

Hello,
I am calling a function module inside a BAPI with "in background task" addition. Basically I want that function executed in a separate background process so that the execution performance of the BAPI is not affected. Well, when executing the BAPI in SAP GUI everything works fine, but not when that same BAPI is executed by a remote .Net app that implements BAPI calls through .Net connector.
Is there a basis parameter that I need to set or is this even allowed? Please help.

When you are calling a function module in background task, the execution of the function module is done asynchronously. It will be exectued when a commit work happens. May be that is why you are not seeing the results. I am assuming you are not getting any error neither results.
Read help on the syntax for "RECEIVE RESULTS FROM FUNCTION func". May be that is what you may have to do, although, I admit, I never used it.

Sorry, this works only with FMs that are called using 'STARTING NEW TASK'. So please dont look at this.

Table parameter of RFC FM in background task

I have a RFC FM in system A which has two table parameters, first table parameter table1 will have the data and the second table parameter table2 will be filled with in the FM with the error and success messages. Now i am calling this RFC FM in a program in system B in background task. I am passing the values to the first table paramter table1. after the call i am using commit work. now my question is can i read the values in the second table parameter table2?

yes u can surely read the values of the second table ,
what ever parameters you pass to the FM whether it is an RFC enabled or simple FM they can be accessed by the report in which you r calling it.

Calling function module in background task

Hello,
There is one function module which is called in background task. Is there any chance that background task is not created and function module is not executed. That function module is supposed to send some outbound message. The FM is called in one user exit. I don't have any idea as why it is called as background task. The probem is that this message is not getting send sometimes.(sometimes it gets send ). Because of this I am not able to make any conclusion.
Please respond if anyone has come across such scenario before.

Function module in background task

I have a user-exit, that must modify a value. But this value have a lock entry (it's my own transaction that set this lock-entry). So I would like to call a function in background task to modify the value when the lock entry disapear.
But ...
I don't see anything append in the SM50.
If I call the function not in background, I could debug the function.
When I set background debugging nothing append.
I have set the RFC option in the function module.

Scheduling Alarms and Reminders from Background Task

I need to schedule alarm or a reminder from a background task.. When I try, I got the following error:
System.InvalidOperationException: BNS Error: The API can only be called from foreground app
I Know the message is pretty clear, but... Is there a workaround? I need to warn the user from time to time... depeding on a server information..

devices provide a stream of data which has to be passed to the main app in real time when it is active - i.e. to show an ECG on the screen. So my task ideally should receive and store data all the time (both background and foreground) and additionally make
main app receive it live when it is in foreground.
My question is: how do I make background task pass real-time data to the app when it is active? Documentation talks about using storage, but it does not seem optimal for realtime messaging.. Looking for best practices and advice. Platform is Windows 8.1
and Windows Phone 8.1.

Windows phone app has resource quotas, to prevent it from interfering with real-time communication functionality, background task using the ControlChannelTrigger and PushNotificationTrigger receive guaranteed resource quotas for every running task. You can

Workflow hanged- Background Task in Process.

Hi All,
Workflow hanged at background task with status in Process due to a dump…we change the logic now.
How I can restart this task again?
I checked in SWPC its empty.

Yes, SWI2_DIAG has a Restart Workflow' button.
Did you try it already?
Despite what the button name suggests, it 'resumes' the workflow from the current step
(it doesn't 'restart' from scratch).
