  • Outlook Backup Using Online Backup and Share

    I just started using online backup and share.  I selected the files for automatic backup including my Outlook PST and Archive PST(Outlook) Files.  It looks like my archive file backed up but not my main Outlook PST file.  Does Outlook need to be closed to have this file backed up?

    Outlook does need to be closed in order for that file to be backed up. When Outlook is running, the file is locked as "Open and In Use" meaning until Outlook closes the file, nothing else can open that file.

    I would like to disable SQLVssWriter during the VM backups  (in DPM backup of \Online\Servername).

    ok, let's try:

    Use dpmdb

    where Caption like cast('%Online%' as ntext)

  • SMB and ONline backup

    Hi,
    In Our R/3 environment, online backup is consisting with archived logs.
    Online Backup = DB Files + archived logs
    When getting the SMB backup and Online Backup (BRBACKUP), will that  going  to backup "Online Redo Logs"
    (Not Offline Redo logs - archived logs)
    When checking the logfile (Online backup) in  /oracle/PRD/sapbackup/beejdgaz.anf  , it shows the online redologs files also. (Just show, Not saying it is backing up)
    But when checking through DP, it is not mentioning that , Online Redo logs are backing up!
    I just want to know , for SMB and Online backups will that include Online REDO logs? Is it possible to backup these Online Redo Logs. Since they are currently in use
    regards,

    Hi,
    we are using:
    brbackup -t online -d util_file -c -m all -u
    brbackup issues below commands which will switch your online logs to offline.
    Switching to next online redo log file for database instance <SID> ...
    Switch to next online redo log file for database instance <SID> successful
    ARCHIVE LOG LIST after backup for database instance <SID>
    online logs to offline.
    That means, when time of getting the backup, current online redo logs will be taken in to offline mode. (As archived redo logs) ?
    then those archived logs will be backing up.
    Is that the way that happens.

  • Ironport WSA online backup failure

    Our online backup started to fail connection to the vendor's server about a month ago. In grepping the server in question, I can see a lot of messages with the destination server listed but I am not sure what they mean.
    Can someone explain what this means or point me in the right direction?
    1412602184.000 5788 X.X.X.X TCP_DENIED/502 0 TCP_CONNECT 38.81.66.191:443 - DIRECT/38.81.66.191 - DECRYPT_ADMIN_2-NONE-AllNetworks-NONE-NONE-NONE-DefaultGroup <-,-,-,"-",-,-,-,-,"-",-,-,-,"-",-,-,"-","-",-,-,-,-,"-","-","-","-","-","-",0.00,0,-,"-","-"> -
    I think that the TCP_Denied/502 means bad gateway although it is a valid address and I can access it and telnet to port 443 but I don't know what the rest means DECRYPT_ADMIN_2=NONE
    Thanks in advance

    Its going through the HTTPS proxy, the bad gateway message is what's killing it.
    If I were you, I'd put the IP of your on-premise backup box in the Bypass list so the WSA doesn't see it at all.  You KNOW where that box is going, and you know what its doing, little need to filter it through the WSA.  That's putting a ton of load on the WSA you don't need.

  • Error while taking RMAN back up - RMAN-03009: failure of backup command ..

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to take RMAN back up but at the end I get this error message.. I found a solution at http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/9i/RecoveryManager9i.php
    But this is of oracle 9i. Can I use it on 10g too ?
    So is this Step correct ?
    1) First create a user to hold the recovery catalog:
    a) CONNECT sys/password@w2k1 AS SYSDBA
    b) GRANT connect, resource, recovery_catalog_owner TO rman;
    2) Then create the recovery catalog:
    a) C:>rman catalog=rman/rman@w2k1
    b) RMAN> create catalog tablespace "RMAN";
    c) RMAN> exit
    3) Register Database
    a) C:>rman catalog=rman/rman@w2k1 target=sys/password@w2k2
    b) RMAN> register database;
    c) Existing user-created backups can be added to the catalog using: (*So far no Back up taken so I guess this step can be ignored*)
    i) RMAN> catalog datafilecopy 'C:\Oracle\Oradata\TSH1.dbf';
    ii) RMAN> catalog archivelog 'log1', 'log2', 'log3', ... 'logN';
    4) Full Backup Configuration
    RMAN> configure retention policy to recovery window of 7 days;
    RMAN> configure default device type to disk;
    RMAN> configure controlfile autobackup on;
    RMAN> configure channel device type disk format 'C:\Oracle\Admin\W2K2\Backup%d_DB_%u_%s_%p';

    Provided you consult the 10g RMAN documentation and the online error documentation: yes.
    But apparently you didn't check documentation, not even the error messages!!!!! Why?
    You are backing up to the Flash Recovery Area, and the error messages mean too much space is occupied.
    How to configure the Flash Recovery Areea is fully documented in the Backup and Recovery manual for 10g at http://tahiti.oracle.com
    READ IT.
    Please do not ask a volunteer to abstract it.

    Hi,
    It seems to be a new installation and if you have not activated archive logs then follow below steps :
    Log in to your database server and issue the following commands:
    db2 update db cfg for SID using LOGARCHMETH1 DISK:/db2/SID/log_archive
    take a offline backup
    Afterwards you have to restart the instance through db2stop force and db2start.
    During the restart the log files are copied by DB2 to the log_archive

  • Can't access online backup and sharing web site

    Does anyone know how to access the Online Backup and Sharing web site from a computer that does not have the O/B/S software installed?  I used to be able to go to My Verizon/My Services/Internet and hit "Launch" for O/B/S, and the link would go directly to the web site for uploading or downloading material.  Now, that link takes me to a Verizon page that asks to activate the O/B/S service, and wants to download the software.  My O/B/S service was activated years ago and has worked until recently without the software installed.  There is no other obvious way to get to the O/B/S web site.  (If it matters, I tried this in both IE 9, with Windows 7 64-bit, and Safari.)
    After some effort, I got the help number for the outside vendor that runs the O/B/S service.  They say that the Verizon web site should link directly to their O/B/S web site, regardless of whether or not the O/B/S software is installed locally, but that the failure to do so is entirely an error of Verizon's on the Verizon web site and they have nothing to do with it.  They also said there is no way to bypass the Verizon web site to get to a Verizon O/B/S account on their web site.  They said they have received many complaints about this from Verizon O/B/S customers, and that the same problem has even arisen when the O/B/S software is installed on the local computer.
    So does anyone know if it is really necessary to install the O/B/S software on any computer used to access O/B/S, and if it is now impossible to access the material from any other computer?  That would be a major reduction in the usefulness of the service that was not announced anywhere that I know of.  I saw a strong of comments on this issue in the Forums from a few years ago, but the conclusion was that the problem had been fixed.  It seems to have arisen again.

    Anthony, I tried to private message you several times, but I kept getting an error message stating that my message had invalid HTML that was being removed, and to resend.  It did not actually have any HTML, and hitting the resend button just led to the same message.
    Also, since my last post, I downloaded the OBS software onto my computer.  This gave me access to OBS from that computer.  However, even after doing this, I cannot use the old method of directly getting to the OBS web site from My Verizon.  The link from "Launch" does not work either on the computer with the OBS software or on any other computer.  Rather, the link goes only to the Verizon page saying that my OBS service has not been activated (which it surely has been) and asking to download the OBS software.
    If this is happening to everyone and not just to me, this means that material stored on OBS is only available from a computer that has the OBS software downloaded on it.  That is certainly not supposed to be the case, and it would make OBS much less useful.
    Again, the OBS technical people said that this was a problem that they knew about, but it was entirely a problem with the Verizon web site that they could not do anything about.

    I don't know much about Oracle or TSM but pipe failures are usually associated with network issues. I would check the network connection between your SAP system and TSM and also try find out if there wasn't a problem at the time of the backup(with both the network and TSM server).

  • Time Machine Online Backup????

    Is there a way to use the time machine backup function to backup to an online service??
    If not...what are the best practices/options when your Time Machine backup disk is full?? Can you add additional backup disks, or are there better ways to deal with this situation??
    Thanks in advance....

    Thanks for the feedback William and Pondini. I guess my confusion is I don't fully understand the Time Machine backup methodology.
    My Time Machine disk is reporting full...which means it's deleting "old" backups as it creates the "new" backups. My question/confusion is...am I losing any important data in the "old" backups...or is that info also a part of the new backups it creates?
    In other words, If I had to perform a complete system restore from the time machine...would I have all the files to restore the system in the latest Time Machine backup. I guess I'm paranoid about this because I had a system drive fail and was able to get back in business with a restore from my time machine (saved my bacon).
    But the Time Machine was not "full" or deleting backups at that time, so I'm wondering am I still in reasonable good shape in the event of a catastrophe this time around.
    I am not so much worried about being able to retrieve the random data file hear or there that is being dropped as "old" backups are being deleted. I just need comfort that I have what will be required to put me back in business if I ever have another total system drive failure.

  • AIR Sqlite can support online backup from memory to disk??

    like this link:
    http://www.sqlite.org/backup.html
    how can i online backup my Sqlite dataBase from memory to disk?

    You will need to remove the internal storage from that 2010-11 MBA, and put it in an external USB3 enclosure for use with a 2014 MBA. The assumption here is that the logic board failure did not corrupt the internal storage contents.
