Backup Of Portal

Hai Friends...
I developed portal using o9ias 1021 Portal & database is
oracle 8.1.6. Enterprise. I want to take the backup of portal.
I developed entire site in portal30 user. What are all the
things i have to take backup.
I wouid appreciate any help.

The only way to backup Portal is to do a cold backup of your
database. I was notified of this unfortunate news by Oracle
Support a few weeks ago.

Do you know why an Oracle export/import does not work?
I tried to export my portal30 schema from one database and import it to another database and receive a ORA-22973 error (size of object identifier exceeds maximum size allowed) when creating the wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table.

    Hi,
In a Oracle documentation, they are talking about a Portal where we can monitor our backups on the Cloud

I cannot find the Portal, can you help me ?

Creating this portal is on our future roadmap, so it does not exist today. It would great if you could post some of the information you would like to see in such a portal so we can consider implementing your requirements.

  • Any info on using Veritas for offline Portal Cluster backup

Anyone have detailed info on how to correctly use VERITAS to backup a PORTAL CLUSTER with ORACLE FAILSAFE on WIN32?
Oh.. well..  INcorrectly ways will suffice as well.

    Jerry,
I have had some exposure to Sun Fire servers running Oracle. The disk was made highly available using the Veritas database cluster software. Both servers share the database files stored on a storage array network. Also Volume Replicator is available via Veritas/Symantec.
    You can check the other compatible HA software on;

    1. There is no specific order, but last to go down should be CMS and first to come up should be CMS.
    @echo off
    Stop Business Objects Services
    echo
    net stop "BOBJCrystalReportApplicationServer"
    net stop "BOBJEventServer"
    net stop "BOBJProgramServer"
    net stop "BOBJOutputFileServer"
    net stop "BOBJProcessServer"
    net stop "BOBJInputFileServer"
    net stop "BOBJDestinationServer"
    net stop "BOBJCrystalReportspageserver"
    net stop "BOBJJobServer_Report"
    net stop "BOBJCentralMS"
    exit
Similarly to Start services, instead of stop use start and put CentralMS at the top and save it as a batch file.
    2. Jobs running when the server goes down will fail, other recurring jobs will wait till the server comes up.
    3. Yes, backup File Store & Database.
    4. Not sure about the default password for My SQL, you should be able to backup the MySQL database, I have done that once.

Hello, you can make a backup of the middle tier configuration files using the Oracle Application Server Backup and Recovery Tool, you can read the Oracle® Application Server 10g Administrator's Guide for this.
you also can make a transportable set in portal including all pages, provideres etc. and make the export for these.

  • How to Backup a Production Portal site

    Hi,

We have a production site that is going live on 7th of this month, so its critical that we have a Good, Working method of backuping and restoring the portal. Any help welcome. A List of todo's would be great.

so I am looking for a simple answer. In
    > case my computer crashed, what do I do to backup
You should backup the dreamweaver "site definition" so you
    could quickly
define this site in dw again.
    dw menu-->Site-->Manage Sites
    select this site from list
    click Export
Save the .ste file. Move it to some other drive/media.
You should backup the site's assets, the actual files used in
    the site which
are in this site's Local Site Folder
If unsure of where these are- go to
    dw menu-->Site-->Manage Sites
    select this site from list
    click Edit
click Advanced tab to find things quicker.
In Local Site information, what's the path listed for "Local
    Site Folder"?
Go there. copy that folder and back it up.
Also- if there are any original files such as artwork or such
    that are not
within the local site folder, back those up.
Also Also- If your site has a feature such as a "control
    panel" or CPanel,
log into it and look for a Backup icon.
Depending on your hosting's features- explore the options.
If it's CPanel on linux/apache, suggest you do this:
    a FULL backup.
    a Home Directory backup
a Database MySQL backup (if you are using it)
an email forwarder or filter backup (if using)
(again, if your hosting has this) these .tar.gz files stored
    on your machine
or backup media will allow you to quickly restore your site
    to this host or
almost any other host using CPanel. And even if can't restore
    with a single
upload- the .tar.gz files can be extracted/expanded to
    recover any single
file that was on the site at the time the backup was created.

  • Coping Portal objects from Test to production on different Domains

I want to know if anyone besides my company uses separate domain environments to do development, QA, and production. How did you get around the object owner issues that come from this level of security. Did you have to Export OID objects from one environment, and import them into the other environments to get a common GUID? Do you use a common user to do development? I would like to hear some common/best practice advise if you have any.
For those that want to understand the issues here is a little example:
For this example, I am going to call my company Acme (I like this name). Acme uses a Sneaker method of security (Sneaker method means - To move data from one level to another, you must put in on a diskette, tape, or CD and put your sneakers on the floor and walk it to another location to install it.). While this is the most secure method out there to day, it makes working in development EXTREMELY difficult. Completely isolated environments require special concerns. I wanted to know if anyone out there does this now, and how they manage these issues.
    Domains:
    www.Acme.com
    www.QAAcme.com
    www.DevAcme.com
When you do development on your site you login as a portal developer JSmith, or KJones, of BRight on the www.devacme.com domain. You build your Portal objects and custom stuff. Now you want to move it to QA, so they can test it and promote it to Production. You build your transport sets. You export using your UNIX script and get your file. You burn the file and the UNIX script to CD.
You then take the CD to the www.QAAcme.com domain Portal server and login to that system as Oracle / OrcAdmin (God mode). You run the Import script as you normally would. <Error> This doesn't work completely because your user Jsmith is different on this domain and doesn't carry the same GUID in OID. While privileges and spelling are identical, the GUID's in OID differ and the domain names don’t match. (Problem - Separate domains and OID identities - objects without matching owner GUID's will not import.)
When you check your stuff you realize that some or most of your work is missing, and all of the security that you placed on the objects is not working correctly either. Because domains are different, any OID users which you assigned permissions to are now not working at all. You will have to redo all the permissions work on this domain just like you did on the other domain. (Problem - there is no easy way to change domain names associated to OID users or group accounts, even if the names are EXACTLY the same. Permissions do not move over for users so assigning item level security is a waist of time since you will have to manually do all that work over again.)
To correct then problems above, you go and export OID user objects like OrclAdmin, IAS_Admin, and a few others. You import these identities on each domain. Now what? Do you give developers 1 identity to do their work? Pass out the Admin passwords on Dev to all the developers to do as they please? Do you build a Dev User for each Developer you have and manage those ID's outside of your normal routine?
This should draw a somewhat clear picture. There are more issues besides these. I left those out of this talk for now.
If you have questions please let me know. I would like to hear input on this. Right now, I don't have any easy solutions, just a lot of extra work. Thank you in advance for any input.
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
A very interesting question, which I never tried nor seen. Anyway, maybe I can try to give you a hand...
I believe the major problem doesn't seem to be the GUID but rather the privileges of the users / groups within the Portal. I'm assuming that you really want that the users and groups privileges be assigned to the three Portals, 'cause you wanna test them or something like that... otherwise it would be a lot easier to assign them only to the Production machine - also what the Portal documentation encourages you to do (and never take them with the Portal Export / Import... ie, the Portal ACLs).
In overview, what I think it might work, would be something like:-
    1. Export all the OID users / groups to LDIF files.
    2. Change the domains in the LDIF files to the Target Portal.
    3. Import all the OID users / groups to the Target Portal.
    4. Export with the Portal Export to a Transport Set.
    5. Export the Transport Set to a DMP.
    6. Import the DMP.
    7. Backup the Portal Target at this stage - ALWAYS!
    8. Before merging the DMP file the WWUTL_SEC_TX_PERSON$ and WWUTL_SEC_TX_GROUP$ tables need to be changed - DN (security is taking IDs of the users/groups internally to the Portal - so this should be fine).
    9. Merge the Transport Set within the Portal UI.
Till point 8 it should be easy to be done... and you may check the Portal Configuration Guide over the 10.4.8 Migrating Users and Groups - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/portal.1014/b19305/cg_imex.htm
On step 8 do something like the following:-
    -- groups (dn)
    update WWUTL_SEC_TX_GROUP$
    set dn=replace( dn, 'dc=dev_domain,dc=com', 'dc=prod_domain,dc=com' )
    update WWUTL_SEC_TX_GROUP$
    set dn_hash = wwsec_api_private.get_dn_hash( dn )
    -- users (dn)
    update WWUTL_SEC_TX_PERSON$
    set dn=replace( dn, 'dc=dev_domain,dc=com', 'dc=prod_domain,dc=com' )
    update WWUTL_SEC_TX_PERSON$
    set dn_hash = wwsec_api_private.get_dn_hash( dn)
If you do have the opportunity to test this, I'd be much appreciated in knowing whether you've achieved to get this sorted out. And even if there is something I may be missing then you may come back with your questions as I'll try to answer them to my best knowledge.
Alternatively, you can use the cloning notes within the Metalink website, what they do is a schema database export / import and there it IDs with be there. The only downside is that the export / import will do everything and Portal Export / Import is more flexible, ie, you may not be interested in bringging the whole Portal, but just a couple of pages or Page Groups.
    I hope it helps...
    Cheers,
    Pedro.
PS - I hope all the above makes sense, but if not, just let me know (or detail me what do you want where I've failed to understand you).

Actually we are not mapping machine name something in webutil.cfg file. We just need to specify the path that from where we will transfer the file from application server to client. And the time time of transfer the path you will
choose for client webutil will transfer the file on that location automatically.

  • Recovery of a deldeted file/folder in KM

    Hi All,
One user has deleted some folder/files in KM accidentally and we are not able to retrieve it back. Is there any option to retrieve the deleted folder/files?
We confuigured the DB is persistent mode for CM Repository and the Configuration details I checked under system administration -> Sys configuration -> KM -> Content Mgmt -> CM Repository.
Version Details: NW 04s EP 7.0 SP 10 with KMC.
Note:  At the moment we are taking only weekly oracle database backup not KM related backup.
I read some threads reg. DB, DBFS & FSDB modes please can any one tell me who has implemented DBFS/FSDB mode. At present we are in DB mode , can I change this mode to eithe DBFS/FSDB? is it possible or not?. please suggest me direct procudure bcz It's a very urgent requirement from my client.
Thanks in advance for your valuable time .

    Hi sreedhar,
here is the way to backup your portal km files and restore them.
Two years ago, we were on EP6 SP2, db mode only for km repository.
In SAP documentation, we saw that we were able to chagne from db mode to fsdb without problems.
    So we did.
Now, you only need to backup every night the fsdb folder on the server.
If a user need an old file, look in the backups.
In db mode I don't think you can restore a km file.
I do a online portal backup every night, and an offline every sunday night.
    That helps a lot.

  • Calendar server 5.1.1 integration with PS 6.0 ??

Is there a out of box service which helps to integrate PS6.0 with Calendar Server. I'm looking for something like a Netmail service which integrates with Messaging server easily ??

    Yes,
Portal6 communication providers do the job pretty well.
    Tip: Backup your portal (/opt/SUNWps/...)
    before installing these providers!

  • Underscores not supported in screen name?

We are trying to add users directly in Studio which their screen name needs to match their userid in another system, however when the screen name contains underscore Studio gives an invalid data error. This is odd as Studio supports LDAP which can have underscores in userids. Am I missing something?

    Thanks!
We found a solution which overrides the default screen name validator. Seems to work well.
    1) Shutdown Endeca Studio
    2) Open the portal-ext.properties file under <%WLS_HOME>\user_projects\domains\endeca_studio_domain\eid\studio (highly recommended to backup existing portal-ext.properties file)
    3) Add the following at the bottom of the file: users.screen.name.validator=com.liferay.portal.security.auth.LiberalScreenNameValidator
    4) Save file
    5) Start Endeca Studio

  • Web Folders, where are files and content stored?

When files/content are added to Web Folders, via Portal, where are these files stored? In the database? file system?

    Thanks for your reply Sandeep,
So I assume a hot or cold back-up of the database/MRU will also backup all Portal content?

  • Check Portal System Database Backup status

    Hi,
we have a portal system and i have performed an online DB-Backup using brtools.
Like DB02 in ABAP Stack, is there a way to display the status of the Backup either using NWA at SAP level or using brtools at OS level ?
    Thank you,
    Mohan.

This is not possible from the portal page (NWA) but you can view the BRBACKUP logs from the OS level located at /oracle/SID/sapbackup and archive backup logs present at /oracle/SID/saparch.
You can make use of the DBACOCKPIT function from another system like suggested above.

  • How to make automatic backups of NW Portal systems?

    Hi All,
We have SAP CRM, ECC and NW Portal using MaxDB databases.
For DB Backups and monitoring, we are using Database Studio.
But in this DatabaseStudio, we have no calendar and no automatic backups is possible. In SAP ECC and CRM, we can access the tcode DB13 which give us acces to the DBA Planning Calendar.
Connecting on ECC or CRM backends, we can then plan automatic backups.
But for Portal I dont' find how to use a calendar for automatic backups.
I saw that in DB13, you can select the system you want to backup. Would it be possible to add the Portal and to manage all systems, including portal, in on single backend point? If yes, how can I add portal system / db to this DB13 menu?
If not, do you know if there is any other way to have automatic backups of NW Portal? Or any external tool we can use for doing this?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Xavier Monnet.

You can put any database in DBACOCKPIT and schedule centrally using DB13C.
    > If not, do you know if there is any other way to have automatic backups of NW Portal? Or any external tool we can use for doing this?
For bigger production environments I'd suggest getting an external backup too and schedule everything centrally.
Be aware that especially in a Java environment (such as a portal) it's not enough to just backup the database, you have to backup the filesystem content at the same time to be able to restore your system in case of a failure. If you have just the database backup this won't help.
