Backup Without giving username and password

Dear Friends,
I am using Oracle 10g. I created a batch file to make export backup. In the batch file i have to mention username and password. Whereas i don't want to mention username and password so that nobody can see that. Is there any option to do the same?? I will be thankful.
Command is below in the batch file
exp stores/qwe321 owner='STORES' FILE=f:\data\newdata\ba_%fdate%.dmp STATISTICS=NONE
Regards,
Kamran

If the database server is dedicated to supporting only the database then the only users with direct access to the server should be the System Administrators and the DBA's so the username appearing on the command line is not really an issue. But on system where this is not true it is an issue. If you are using traditional exp, as in the OP, then you can use the userid= parameter to supply the username and password and place the parameter in a parameter file, that is, exp parfile=some_file and this keeps the username/password off the command line so it cannot be seen via ps (UNIX show process command). Also via file permissions you can limit the users with access to using the parfile.
A problem with OS authenicated usernames is that if you allow remote access to the database by OS authenicated users then anyone with control of a server can set up a user account with a name of an OS authenicated user defined to Oracle and then access Oracle via this account. Not allowing remote access limits the problem.

  • 802.1x without storing username and password

    I have a couple all-Mac schools that would like to begin integrating iPod touch and iPad in classroom activities.
    Our wireless network is managed at the district level and it offers to ways to log into the Internet – one is a popup window with a Java applet, and the other is 802.1x.
    Obviously the Java applet does not work on iPhone OS and I'm sure it never will. 802.1x works well with one caveat: It stores the username and password so whichever student uses it next will remain logged in as the previous student.
    Is there any way that the iPods can be forced to prompt for the 802.1x username and password each time they rejoin the network? Any other ideas?
    And before anyone asks, we have submitted requests to make the wireless network friendlier to non-traditional computing (ie. devices that are not standard PCs and Macs), but it doesn't look as if that's happening any time soon.
    Thanks!

    I don't store them, if it is a user and password. If the user entered them I keep them in instance variables. If you only have one user for the database (which is not the best IMHO) you should decrypt it in the code. The crypted can be stored whereever, but still not good.

  • Is there away to authenticate the iPad to Wireless without a username and password? (i.e. Device Authentication)

    I am contracting for a college and they want to automatically configure 30 iPads for use on their enterprise wireless network.
    Current wireless settings are 802.1x using PEAP MSCHAPv2.  Users authenticate using their Active Directory accounts.  They do have a few PCs setup to do machine authentification using the machines AD account. Is there any equivalent for the iPad?
    They are willing to open a new SSID if they need to go to another authenication method in order to use certificate authenication.

    Is Radius involved?

  • Username and Password authentication

    Hi,
    I am new to both JDBC and MSSQL. I've been connecting to msSQL server without providing username and password (DriverManager.getConnection(String url)). I am wondering how to enforce the username and password authentication so that username and password have to be verified before a connection is made. Thanks in advance.

    but where can I get the username & password? I can get
    the connection even with any username & password, why?Hi WeiHang,
    This is regarding the options you have set in the SQL Server. You have to choose from Windows NT authentication and SQL Server Authentication. If you give SQL Server authentication you have mentioned the username and password and you can connect to database simple using DSN(if you are using JDBC-ODBC). However if you choose WindowsNT authentication you donot specify the user name and password there and you have to enter the same at runtime.
    Hope this can help you

  • I'm trying to access a forum that requires a user name and password.  When I do it on my mac it tells me the password is incorrect but when I do it on my iPad, I can access it without any problem.  I can confirm the username and password are the same

    I am trying to access a forum for which you need a username and password but it keeps telling me the username/password i've entered are incorrect.  Bizarrely, when I enter the same username/password combination on my iPad, it grants access without any problem.
    What could be causing this, is it an issue with cookies, caches or similar.  How can I resolve it?  The forum administrator is at a loss as to what the problem is.

    Try the following steps in Safari to see if they help:
    1) First try clearing the Safari cache.  To do this pull down the Safari menu and select 'Empty cache...', then try logging into the site again.
    2) If the issue continues then reset Safari by pulling down the Safari menu and select'Reset Safari...'. You will be presented with a list of items that can be reset. I suggest selecting the 'Reset saved names and passwords', and 'Remove all website data' options at a minimum.
    Here is a list of the options and what they do. I pulled it from the Safari help page.
    Clear history:
    Clears the list of webpages you viewed.
    Reset Top Sites:
    Clears any changes you made to Top Sites, such as adding or pinning sites. If you also clear your history, your Top Sites page reverts to showing the webpage previews displayed when you first installed Safari.
    Remove all webpage preview images:
    Clears any thumbnail images Safari saved of webpages you viewed.
    Clear the Downloads window:
    Clears the list of files you downloaded from websites. Only the names are removed; the files themselves are still on your disk until you remove them.
    Remove all website icons:
    Removes website icons, which are small graphics that help identify sites on the Internet. You see them in the Safari address field and bookmarks list, and other places. These icons are stored on your computer.
    Remove saved names and passwords:
    Removes user names and passwords that Safari automatically fills in at websites that require them (if the AutoFill feature is turned on).
    Remove other AutoFill form text:
    Removes some personal information, such as telephone numbers, that Safari uses to automatically fill in forms on webpages (if the AutoFill feature is turned on). Removing AutoFill information does not remove information from your address book.
    Close all Safari windows:
    If you don’t close all Safari windows, someone could use the Back and Forward buttons to view the webpages you visited.
    Reset all location warnings:
    Clears any information websites saved about your location.
    Remove all website data:
    Removes cookies, tracking information, and other data that websites stored on your computer.

Oddly enough, connecting and copying to/from works perfectly from a Mavericks machine, despite the problems reported about Mavericks regarding the exact opposite. • Web service functions in SSO without username and password

    Is there a way to use the Public Report Web Service functions when configured in SSO and without passing a username and password? I was able to try out the web service and make it work. As we all know, you need to pass a username and password for each web service call unless your reports can be accessed by guests. In an SSO + LDAP server configuration, there are cases in which you are not allowed to get the password. The password can not be decrypted.
    Is there a way to still use web service? or do you need to use the url approach instead? But if you use the url approach then you may be limited to generating reports only.
    I'm thinking there should be since if you are already logged in for SSO then you should be able to generate.
    Any way to configure this?

    <i>When I access web reports from bw.</i>
    i hope you are not talking about BEX web reports , since you have mentioned ITS.
    Is it a standlone ITS or intergrated ITS?
    can you post the url pattern here.

    Hello,
    However, customer now wants HTTPS URL without Username and password in production URL. How do i create this .
    You can disable basic authentication for the sender SOAP Adapter by following William's reply in this thread
    http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=236507
    However, the authentication will be disabled for all SOAP Sender, so you should weigh-in the impacts of granting that request.

  • Connecting Using SSL Authentication Without Username and Password

    Hi,
    We're on RedHat Linux 4.0 using 10.2.0.3 (server/client). We're trying to figure out a way to connect to the database using instantclient and JDBC-OCI and SSL authentication without using a username or password. According to the documentation this should be possible but no sample code is given.
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/lib:/usr/lib:/home/oracle/instantclient where the instantclient was installed from the 10.2.0.1 client software
    and we are using JDK version 1.6.0_03.
    We're also referencing the following paper:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/pdf/wp-oracle-jdbc_thin_ssl_2007.pdf
    We've got our client and server wallets configured and the sample code we tried looks like this:
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import oracle.net.ns.*;
    import oracle.net.ano.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.*;
    import java.security.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    public static void main(String[] argv) throws Exception {
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Security.addProvider(new oracle.security.pki.OraclePKIProvider());
    System.setProperty("oracle.net.tns_admin", "/opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/network/admin");
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@orcl";
    java.util.Properties props = new java.util.Properties();
    props.setProperty("oracle.net.authentication_services","(TCPS)");
    props.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore",
    "/opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/admin/wallet/server/cwallet.sso");
    props.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType","SSO");
    props.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", "/opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/admin/wallet/client/cwallet.sso");
    props.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType","SSO");
    props.put ("oracle.net.ssl_version","3.0");
    props.put ("oracle.net.wallet_location", "(SOURCE=(METHOD=file)(METHOD_DATA=(DIRECTORY=/opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/admin/wallet/client)))");
    System.out.println("At Here...");
    OracleDataSource ods = new OracleDataSource();
    //ods.setUser("scott");
    //ods.setPassword("tiger");
    ods.setURL(url);
    ods.setConnectionProperties(props);
    System.out.println("At Here1...");
    Connection conn = ods.getConnection();
    System.out.println("At Here2...");
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery("select 'Hello Thin driver SSL "
    + "tester ' from dual");
    while (rset.next())
    System.out.println(rset.getString(1));
    rset.close();
    stmt.close();
    conn.close();
    When this code is compiled and run, the following error is thrown:
    Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: invalid arguments in call
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:112)
    If a username and password is supplied, the code works. So does anyone have a working of using SSL to authenticate without supplying username/password?
    Thanks
    mohammed

    Hi,
    I just solved this. I noticed from another thread that I was not using the OCI driver (see below):
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@pki14";
    Once I changed it to:
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:oci:@pki14";
    The code worked perfectly. One more setting that you'll have to do is to create the user you want to connect as externally:
    create user scott identified externally as
    'CN=acme, OU=development, O=acme, C=US';
    grant connect,create session to scott;
    Note that the DN should be the same as the SSL certificate that you created in your wallet.

  • Could not complete backup; network username and password wrong....help!

    I've been using the Time Capsule just fine for my automated Time Machine backups, until recently when they stopped working. I finally checked into it today, and it tries for about 10 seconds, then says "Time Machine could not complete backup. The network backup disk could not be accessed because there was a problem with the network username and password." I hadn't changed any of the settings, so I don't know why it would do this. So I totally erased the Time Capsule, set it to factory settings, gave it all new passwords and what not, created a whole new wireless network, etc... and still it's doing the same thing. Take a look at the screenshot to see what I mean.
    Any help here would be appreciated.
    Thank You.

    Ok
    Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain Access. Look for an item named the same as your Time Capsule, and it will say 'Base Station Password" (or something like that), and delete it (just select it, and press delete on your keyboard)
    Now when you try to connect to your Time Capsule for a backup, it will prompt for the password. Enter the password that you set just before.
    Let me know if you have any more trouble.
