BADI's in a BAPI

hi .
i want to search for BADi's in a BAPI.
On net i hv seen programs which gives list of all user-exits  / BADI.
but this program is for finding BADIs for a tcode or program not for BAPI.
Is there any way to find out BADIs for a BAPI other than debugging.....or to first find out the package and then use hit and trial to find out the exact BADI

Hello Rajesh
I suppose that BAdIs are usually not called directly within the BAPI coding but within others function modules called by the BAPI. Thus, there is no easy escape from "Trial and Error". However, the <b>Where-Used-List</b> of the BAdI may give you already some hints if it could be called within your BAPI. However, you have to repeat the Where-Used-List search.

what is badi?difference between bapi and badi?

    Hi..
BADI is just an object-oriented version of user-exit. Instead of entering program code into some function module (as in customer-exit), you define some class which has to implement predefined methods and those methods are fired at predefined points just like an old user-exit. Some BADI can have multiple independent implementations which is much better for software deployment as several developers can implement the same BADI independently.
To understand BAPIs, you must know that there are 2 things. One is the SAP Object Repository of the Business Object Repository (BOR) and the Function Builder.
Now the business objects with their business processes and business data, reside in the BOR, with the corresponding BAPI. the implementation of this BAPI resides in the function builder. Any external world (non SAP) programs or legacy systems can access the business processes or data of any business object in the BOR, thru the process of invoking the BAPI implementation of the BAPI for this business object.
Thus we can access a business object.
So we can say that a BAPI is a process that allows third party s/w or non SAP programs to access SAP Business object data and processes.

  • Difference between BAPI and BADI

    Hi,
Can anyone explain the difference between BAPI and BADI?

    Hi Naveen,
BAPI - It is nothing, but a FM which is used to load the data into SAP system. The data may be from the Legacy system.
BADI - They are the enhancement which can be applied to the standard SAP program as per the business requirement. BADI are the newer version of user exits which uses ABAP OOPs concept.
Revert back if you have further query.
    Reward points if useful.

    Hi
    hope it will help you.

    Business Add-Ins
Business Add-Ins are a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
As with customer exits (SMOD/CMOD [Page 40]), two different views are available:
    • In the definition view, an application programmer predefines exit points in a source that allow specific industry sectors, partners, and customers to attach additional software to standard SAP source code without having to modify the original object.
    • In the implementation view, the users of Business Add-Ins can customize the logic they need or use a standard logic if one is available.
In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-system infrastructure (SAP and customers), but instead allow for multiple levels of software development (by SAP, partners, and customers, and as country versions, industry solutions, and the like). Definitions and implementations of Business Add-Ins can be created at each level within such a system infrastructure.
SAP guarantees the upward compatibility of all Business Add-In interfaces. Release upgrades do not affect enhancement calls from within the standard software nor do they affect the validity of call interfaces. You do not have to register Business Add-Ins in SSCR.
The Business Add-In enhancement technique differentiates between enhancements that can only be implemented once and enhancements that can be used actively by any number of customers at the same time.
In addition, Business Add-Ins can be defined according to filter values. This allows you to control add-in implementation and make it dependent on specific criteria (on a specific Country value, for example). All ABAP sources, screens, GUIs, and table interfaces created using this enhancement technique are defined in a manner that allows customers to include their own enhancements in the standard.
A single Business Add-In contains all of the interfaces necessary to implement a specific task. In Release 4.6A, program and menu enhancements can be made with Business Add-Ins. The actual program code is enhanced using ABAP Objects. In order to better understand the programming techniques behind the Business Add-In enhancement concept, SAP recommends reading the section on ABAP Objects

    what is BAPI?
BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
A BAPI is remotely enabled function module ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access. Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
Reading instances of SAP business objects
GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

    Bdc to Bapi
The steps to be followed are :
    1. Find out the relevant BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE for VA02).
    [for VA01 use BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2]
    2. Create a Z program and call the BAPi (same as a Funtion module call).
    2. Now, if you see this BAPi, it has
    -> Importing structures.
eg: SALESDOCUMENT: this will take the Sales order header data as input.
    -> Tables parameters:
eg: ORDER_ITEM_IN: this will take the line item data as input.
    Note :
Only specify fields that should be changed
Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data
    Possible UPDATEFLAGS:
    U = change
    D = delete
    I = add
    Example
    1. Delete the whole order
    2. Delete order items
    3. Change the order
    4. Change the configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entry:
You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
You must always enter key fields for changes.
You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.
For further details... refer to the Function Module documentation for the BAPi.
    Bapi to VB(Visual Basic)
Long back I had used the following flow structure to acheive the same.
    Report -> SM59 RFC destination -> COM4ABAP -> VB.exe
my report uses the rfc destination to create a COM session with com4abap. com4abap calls the vb.exe and manages the flow of data between sap and vb exe.
    You need to have com4abap.exe
If com4abap is installed you will find it in sapgui installatin directory , C:\Program Files\SAPpc\sapgui\RFCSDK\com4abap.
else refer OSS note 419822 for installation of com4abap
after making the settings in com4abap to point to the vb program and setting up rfc destination in sm59 to point to com4abap session , you can use the following function modules to call the vb code.
for setting up com4abap and rfc destination please refer to the documentation for com4abap.
    Invoke NEW DCOM session
    call function 'BEGIN_COM_SESSION'

  • Does anyone know BAdI for EEW table in Business Partner Master?

    Dear Experts,
We added the customer tables like ZBUT0000* in BP by EEWB tool
and these tables appears in "Customer Data" tab successfuly.
Now we would like to do the input value check when users create/change the businesss partners in T-cd:BP,
but could not find any BAdI or customer exit.
BAdI "BUPA_FURTHER_CHECKS" seems to be good, but this BAdI is called by BAPI and not by T-cd:BP.
We think BAdI "BUPA_GENERAL_UPDATE" can be used, but we want to run the input value check
at the timing of pressing ENTER key, not the timing of before-saving.
Does anyone know which BAdI can be used?
If any further information is required, please let us know.
Any advice would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    F.T.

    Hi,
please use any ways for search Badi's:
    http://abap-explorer.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-search-for-badis-click-here.html
    for example:
    Method 3: Using FM SXV_GET_CLIF_BY_NAME.
These steps should enable you to find any BADI related to any transaction in a matter of minutes.
    1) Go to the transaction SE37 to find your function module.
    2) Locate the function SXV_GET_CLIF_BY_NAME.
    3) Put a BREAK-POINT there.

  • BAPI for setting holiday values

    Hi,
I'm badly searching for a BAPI to set the holiday information from outside of SAP.
We have a very nice and higly accepted system to request and confirm holiday of an employee. Full workflow supported.
The only thing missing is to automatically set the accepted and confirmed holiday in SAP. Till now we have to enter the data again manually in SAP.
    Unfortunately I don't find anything.
Is there a already existing BAPI?

    Hi,
thanks for info, but SAP shows me the function is obsolet, outdated:
"Note!  This API method writes exclusively the IT 2001 (absences).  It should not be used any longer.  The use of these API method can lead to inconsistent time data."
Unfortunately, they don't lead me to which function I should use instead.
The BAPI should set all neccessary absence data including IT 0005 and remaining holidays...
    Thanks in advance

  • Viewing and implementing a BAPI

    Folks
whats the t-code to view the BAPI's that are implemented ?
Whats the fundemental difference betweena BAPI and BADI ? Can a BAPI be used to access/transfer data between different R3 modules or across different SAP components such as R3 and CRM ?
    Thanks

BAPI stands for  Business Application Programming Interfaces  :A Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI) is a precisely defined interface providing access to processes and data in business application systems such as R/3.
A BAPI is implemented as a function module, that is stored and described in the Function Builder.
you can see BAPI by Se37 and if it is used in Program can see program by SE38.

    BADI:stands for Business add-ins
Business add-ins are enhancements to the standard version of the system. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
You implement BADI by SE19 tcode.
Can see availabe BADI by SE18.

  • BADI as Interface

    Hi all,
Is it possible to use BADI as Interface like BAPI.
Generally we can use BAPI as a interface with dot net so that user can read sap data through .net appln.
Is it possible to use BADI as interface to dot net
    Thanks
    pabi

    hai ,
badi cant be used as interface like bapi
bcos the badi is a hook in code which is provided by sap where u can add ur code
but it cannot act as interface, but the interface defined can be used in some other classes

  • Are all RFCs and BAPIs automatically exposed as web services?

    Hello,
Our product helps business users exchange data with SAP. We use standard RFCs and BAPIs to communicate with SAP. This is a .NET application although my question is not specific to .NET.
It seems SAP obsolete their .NET connector in near future. The emphasis is on web services. This is a great move. We can simply drop using the .NET connector and start using the web services. However, I have a few doubts:
    1. RFCs and BAPIs are automatically exposed for remoting. When the customer installs our application, it just works out of the box. Customers do not have to make any configuration changes to SAP to expose RFCs and BAPIs.
In the new world, are all RFCs and BAPIs automatically exposed as web services or one has to go through each RFC/BAPI and expose it explicitly?
    2. Is there a comprehensive WSDL schema available anywhere for all the RFCs/BAPIs?
    3. Are there any other web services (besides RFCs/BAPIs) that SAP Netweaver exposes? Where can I get more information?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Pradeep

    Darryl,
Thank you for your help or at least trying to help me. However, you left me with more questions than answers:-(.
    1. "Old" does not mean "bad."  Each RFC/BAPI serves a specific function. If some RFC is being obsoleted, there must be a replacement documented somewhere. Is there one?
    2. I can look into SE80 (and other transactions) to see what is exposed. However, what I need to understand is what is SAP's stance on exposing standard web services.
Can others please share your thoughts?
    Regards,
    Pradeep

  • Confirm Services (IW42) by BAPI / RFC

    Hi there,
I'm trying to confirm services for a given order and operation programmatically (via screens: transaction IW42 -> services, confirmation then can be found in IW33 -> Extras -> Order documents -> Completion confirmations).
Is there any BAPI or RFC that handles this issue?
I tried to debug this issue, but this merely led to an inoperable F5-key. I totally got stuck.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eike Menking

Are you confusing BAPIs with BADIs...
BAPIs perfrom a function e.g. create confirmation.
BADIs are to enhance the system. Forexample they are "called during the saving process of a service confirmation."
Did you have a look in the other section of TCode BAPI?
Does your service confirmation have to be via IW42?

  • BADI for Material Update

I want to update some customer fields on the Material Master MEAN table.   I have added the append structure to the table.   I want to update the fields when I call this BAPI
    BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA
Is there a BADI available through this BAPI call where I can update this data ?

The documentation for EXTENSIONIN tells me that I can only update the following
The structures BAPI_TE_<NAME> (<NAME> = MARA, MARC, MARD, MBEW, MLGN, MLGT, MVKE) and the relevant checkbox structures BAPI_TE_<NAME> (<NAME> = MARAX, etc.) must first be extended by the customer to include the fields required. The standard structures contain only the corresponding key fields. When including new fields in these structures, make sure that the field has the same name as the field in the database table. In addition, the fields in the structures BAPI_TE_<NAME> may only be of the type CHARACTER. The data element BAPIUPDATE must be used for the fields in the checkbox structure (except for key fields).
There is no  BAPI_TE_MEAN structure to update which means I cannot pass it in EXTENSIONIN ?  I assume ?

  • Hiding fields in BSP application

    Hi Friends,
Iam using HRRCF_TRM_srch BSP Application, i have a requirement to hide few fields in BSP pages. Can any one tell me what BADI and what BAPI is this BSP application is triggering at the behind. so that can will enhance the BADI or modify the BAPI, without modifying BSP page or controller.
    Thanks in advance
    Srikanth

    Hi James,
Firstly, do you need to have the hidden items on the page? If you don't, you should just delete the items. If you do (perhaps because of the calculations you need for your second question - see below), you can set them to "Hidden" fields - select each item and set the Display As setting to Hidden.
Secondly, there are at least two ways to perform calculations on fields - either using a Page Process or a table Trigger. Page Processes will work on any fields available in the session and triggers will work on the fields on a table.
Which you choose typically depends on whether or not data is likely to be inserted or updated outside of your application.

  • Add new field in the Create Support Message Popup Screen

    Hi Experts,
I need to create Project Code Field in the standard popup screen Create Support Message
Suggest me any Badi or FM or Bapi or Enhancement to create a new field and update the field value to the Support Message created.
Please let me know if this is possible or not?
    Thank You,
    Sowjanya Sreekrishna

    Dear Abhijit
Even after doing PGI, there are some fields which are in editable mode in delivery.  For example, in VL02N, if you select "Goto --> Header --> Shipment, you can see fields like Bill of Lading are in editable mode.
If you specify what your requirement is, then probably, a better option can be given.
    Thanks
    G. Lakshmipathi
