Bank Reconciliaiton and Clearing Process of Banks in Foreign Currency

Dear all
Can you please help me out in this process? My client has a bank account managed in USD and his Local Currency is in EURO.
Payments are made to a supplier in USD at an established exchange rate. The bank reconciliation (manual) is then processed on a later date with a different exchange rate - the rate in the system.
The client is then clearing the Vendor Payments with the Bank reconciliation posting. This in turn posts a clearing document as well as a realised gain/loss on exchange. The clearing of the Payment with the invoice also takes place as a further process with a further gain/loss on exchange created.
The client is saying that in the case when clearing Payments with the Bank reconciliation for foreign currency the posting should not create a gain / loss on exchange.
Can you please help? Is the process correct? They can update the foreign exchange rate in the table when posting the bank reconciliation to be more or less equal to average exchange rate of payments but this is not practical.
Is it possible to someway define the exchange rates during manual bank reconciliation or avoid the creation of an exchange rate division?
Many thanks
PRG

Hi PRG,
When the Invoice has been made at a different rate and payments are being processed at a rate different from the Invoice, system is bound to create the additional line items for gain/loss on forex.
One option you can look out for is in the OBY6-Company code global settings-Select the check box Indicator: No ex.rate difference when clearing in local crcy.
Thanks

YE Ret Earning Roll and Clear Process produces out of balance.-MA to fix....
    Hi,
    Our co. has 13 segments.
    xxxxx-xxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-xxx-x-xxx-xx-xx-xxx-xxx-xxx
ENTITY OU PRIME SUB CC PRD R DC ST NW SP STAT FUT
As a result of our year end retained earnings roll and clear process, our stat segment (seg 12) is not balancing and rolling up to retained earnings. Our balancing segment is legal entity. Currently our countries have to perform manual entries to reclass all non 000 stat accounts back to it's original P&L account. Attempting to automate via Mass Allocation.
Currently, working the following formula. However, unable to move from 000 to applicable stat (130 for example)
    A 03011-TTT-30100-TTTTT-TTT-TTT-T-TTT-TT-TT-TTT-TTT-TTT
    C S C S S S S S S S S S S
    B 03011-TTT-30100-TTTTT-TTT-TTT-T-TTT-TT-TT-TTT-TTT-TTT
    C L C L L L L L L L L L L
    C 03011-TTT-30100-TTTTT-TTT-TTT-T-TTT-TT-TT-TTT-TTT-TTT
    C L C L L L L L L L L L L
    T 03011-TTT-30100-TTTTT-TTT-TTT-T-TTT-TT-TT-TTT-TTT-TTT
    C L C L L L L L L L L L L
    0 03011-TTT-30100-TTTTT-TTT-TTT-T-TTT-TT-TT-TTT-TTT-TTT
    C L C L L L L L L L L L L
Note that B and C are the same so that they basically would be a wash. I orignally had a constant (1) in both, however, it resulted in a rule violation.
What currently is happening is a total reclass. That is, all segment 12 values moving from 30100 xxxxx 000 stat to the same. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If I understand you correctly, you are trying to move balances from ONE account combination to another right?
So, let's say, my COA is structured as
    B/S- Stat - Acct - whatever...
    And account combination
10-000-6100-0000-000 has $100 erroneously in it and I want to MOVE the balance from STAT value 000 to 130.
This is how to do it:
Choose to Allocate Balances From FULL BALANCE.
Leave Full Cost Pool Allocation check box BLANK. If you check this, you cannot use numbers in B and C lines. (See General Ledger Users Guide).
Thus, this is what my formual should look like:
    A 10-000-6110-0000-000
    C C C C C
    B 1
    C 1
    T 10-130-6110-0000-000
    C C C C C
O 10-000-6110-0000-000 (same as A to empty it out)
    C C C C C
I'm not sure why you're looping. Looping is used on Parent account when you want to divide up the cost pool proportionately, say across departments.

  • Link between bank account and clearing accounts

    hi
kindly tell me where we will link bank account(main account) with bank clearing accounts
    thanks
    sreeni..

In customizing of Electronic bank statement, choose "make global settings for Electronic Bank statement".
In this use "create account symbols" for creating a symbolic account with the name of your choice.
Then use "assign accounts to account symbol" and assign your clearing account.
In "Define Posting rules", you can now use the symbolic name of the clearing account.

  • Electronic Bank Statement and Bank Accounts change...Statement Upload

    Hi,
I have an issue with electronic bank processing.
Currently my client is using A100 company code and bank account 123456 gl code 45000 and they are updating bank statements through electronic bank statement.
Now they have activated A200 company code and they want to use same bank account 123456 and gl code 45000 in new company code and the entire electronic bank statements need to be updated into A200 and A100 company code will exist in sap but client dont want to use this.
What customizations need to be done in SAP and how system will come to know A200 company code need to be updated when they update electronic bank statement next time?
Is there any specific customization in sap that shifts company codes and gl codes for electronic bank statement uploads?
What will happen to historic data when the same gl codes are used with different company codes?
Once the F110 is executed there will be batch job which will run to upload file...do we need to change anything here....
    Jaya.

    Hello-
Are you saying going forward you are are not going to use A100 and start using A200? If so, from an EBS config standpoint, all you would have to do is use the same transaction type and remove the assignment of old company code & bank account + bank key to the transaction type and enter the new assignment to new company code.
Next, make sure to create all the bank accounts and clearing accounts in the new company code (assuming all the config related to bank is completed).
This is it. When you upload using FF.5, it will look at the bank account number from the upload file and look for the company code.
    Hope this helps.

  • Automatic clearing in electronic banking

    Hi all,
I'm working with the electronic banking program to import statements and want to clear items from sub ledger accounts automatically.
From the tests I have done so far, it seems that SAP always tries to locate the business partner via the bank details FIRST. In other words:
IF business partner bank details are provided in the electronic bank statement
THEN SAP takes this as leading in order to determine the business partner
I do not want SAP to start the search via the bank account details. I have been using interpretation algorithm 020 (doc.number) and 031 (doc.number and customer from document) but still SAP always starts searching for the business partner based on the bank details.
My test case is as follows:
    - I have a customer A without bank details maintained
    - I have a vendor B with bank details maintained
    - Customer A is in fact the SAME business parter as vendor B although they are not linked in their master data
Now Customer A makes a payment to me and the bank provides the bank details of the customer AS WELL AS the invoice number. SAP then starts matching and finds vendor B because the customer bank details are maintained in the vendor master. Clearing from the vendor does -of course- not take place because the invoice exists on the customer, not the vendor. So a payment advice is created which holds the vendor account AND the invoice number.
I cannot get SAP to avoid finding the vendor, and instead, find the customer with help of the document number that is also in the bank statement file.
Hope the case is clear, any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    Rene

    Hi Jay,
Open items for G/L Accounts, Vendors and Customers can be cleared automatically by running the Clearing Program
Set up predefined criteria for automatic clearing (Configuration)
Program groups those items from an account that have the same
    u2022 Trading Partner ID
    u2022 Reconciliation Number
u2022 Currency in which the General Ledger is updated
    u2022 Four freely definable criteria
The program groups together items from an account that have the same reconciliation account number, currency, and Special G/L indicator, as well as pre-defined criteria from the document header or item such as the allocation field, reference number and amount.
If the balance, in local currency, of the items within a group is zero, the system automatically clears them and creates clearing documents.
Prerequisites for using the automatic clearing program:
u2022 Accounts must be managed on an open item basis.
u2022 Accounts to be cleared must be defined in customizing.
The automatic payment program does not clear noted items, statistical posting, down payments, bills of exchange and items with withholding tax entries.
When clearing open items in a foreign currency, differences may occur due to fluctuations in exchange rates. The system automatically posts these differences as realized gains or losses.
    Config: IMG>FA>GL. Accounting>Business  transactions>Open item clearing>Prepare automatic clearing.
AS well see the notes for better understanding.
    Hope it gives better understanding.
    Respectfully,
    Vyas

  • Customer Clearing on Electronic Bank Statement

    Hi,
I am facing a problem to clear the customer open items.
    Let me explain the situation.
The is an invoice on the Customer Account. The entry is:
    Customer A/c    Dr.   100
    Sales A/c          Cr    100
Now, I have received a bank statement, when I posted the receipt. When I posted electronic bank statement, the entry the system is going to post is:
    Bank Main Account Dr. 100
    Bank Sub Account Cr. 100
There is still a debit lying in the Customer and there is a credit lying in the Bank Sub Account. How can I clear these two accounts with each other.
Any valid inputs will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ravi

Why post to the clearing account? You can directly post to the customer account.
    Debit Bank
    Credit customer
For this you have to create a posting rule which will be linked to the external code (BAI code if you are getting the bank statement in BAI format) and the posting rule should have 'standard algorithm' assigned to it.
Then while uploading the bank statement you have to give the range of customer invoice numbers against BELNR or XBELNR. The system will automatically identify the customer based on the invoice number on Record type 16 appearing in Bank statement and clear the open item and generate the above accounting entry.
For a detailed description of how the EBS works, please see the thread titled EBS posted by Sheena Mehta and answered by me.

  • How to clear cumulative local currency balance of foreign currency Bank a/c

    Hi,
We are facing a problem with the foreign currency Bank account from which we make payment in foreign currency but when we see the balance in local currency there is a difference.
e.g Local Currency RMB Bank Account Currency USD
Current Balance in Bank Account 1000 USD RMB rate 0.275 Balance in Local currency 275
We make a payment of 1000 USD at that time rate is 0.270 Payment in local currency i.e. 270
When we display of GL Balance of Bank account it is showing 0 balance but balance in RMB still showing 5 KWD which is not correct as we dont have any balance in USD. How to avoid this situation.
    Regards,
    Nirmala S.

You have to configure realized and unrealized exchange rate gain/loss accounts in transaction code OB09 for all your foreign currency balance sheet accounts.  Once this configuration is done, you have to perform foreign currency valuation (F.05 or FAGL_FC_VAL) to clear the balance in local currency and post it to unrealized exch. rate gain/loss accounts configured in OB09 above.

  • MIDI Soundbanks - banks 2 and 3

    Hi
I have connected a MIDI keyboard to the Java synthesizer and can play notes but I cannot access all the instruments in the Soundbank
    MidiChannel[] channels = synthesizer.getChannels();
    synthesizer.loadAllInstruments(synthesizer.getDefaultSoundbank());
channels[1].programChange(2, 29);I load the default soundbank which contains about 350 instruments over 4 banks.
But when I use channel.programChange(int bank, int program) and set the bank to 2 or 3, I don't hear the instrument I expect to hear. Instead an instrument in bank 0 is played
What am I doing wrong here?
    Any help appreciated

Well, yes ... I tried every imaginable permutation - but it didn't help at all.
Yet, I finally saw that one stick is somehow double-sided (top side: chip-gap-chip..., lower side: gap-chip-gap ...), while the other one is not. Maybe that's the reason why this doesn't work. Will ask my vendor for an alternative stick on monday ...
But I still have some questions:
Shouldn't the computer start properly, when I put one stick in - let's say - Bank 2 and leave the other banks empty ? I thought it doesn't matter in which bank I install the stick ...
Should I try new BIOS Versions ? I'm still using good old ver 3.3 and I don't plan to update it, since I didn't find any fix fitting to my problem.

  • K7T266 pro2 -ru. Mem Bank 2 and 3 not working ...

Ouch ! My fingers hurt ... I've been switching Memory sticks now for some hours just to find out that neither the old nor the newly bought memory stick work in bank 2 and 3.
Well I decided to double my memory to 512MB.
The first stick I bought didn't work at all. Today I got a  new one, put it in Bank 2, started the computer and saw that BIOS didn't seem to know anything about a new memory stick - still 256 MB and WinXP refused to start ... after hours of switching and testing I found out:
    - Both sticks work fine, used alone.
    - When I put one stick in Bank 2 or 3 and leave the other two banks empty, BIOS gives me the triple memory error beep
    - With a stick in Bank 1 everything seems to work fine
    - With a stick in Bank 1 and a stick in Bank 2 or 3 the computer starts, but shows only 256 MB and WinXP refuses to start
Both sticks are "Infineon 266DDR 256MB Cl2" sticks. Well, one was manufactured in USA and one in China or Malaysia (don't remember now - don't think it's important anyway).
Please don't tell me that the board is broken ...  ;(

  • Foreign currency valuation for GR/IR clearing account is repeatedly posting

While executing foreign currency valuation (program SAPF100) through T code F.05 the following fields are selected for the spotted rate valuation for currency type 10.
    A)     Valuate G/L account open items
    B)     Evaluate  GR/IR account (GR/IR clearing account is selected)
    C)     Valuate customer open items
After execution the valuation postings are repeated  in GR/IR FC valuation Balance sheet adj account while the postings in other accounts occur only once.
GR/IR FC valuation Balance sheet adjustment account is configured in OB09 for GR/IR account for respective currency type and local currency.
What could be the reason for repeated postings in FC valuation account?

I think there is some issue with the process, normally vendor/customer reconciliation account or some liability assets related account which has impact due to foreign currency rate changes needs to be revaluated. I don't understand why you have set up foreign currency valuation for GR/IR account, these are intermediatory account which reflects in system between for example GR and IR.
I also think that you need more information on foreign currency valuation, basically it happens on a particular key date and gets reversed on key date + 1, because revaluation is only required on a key date for reporting purposes. on the next day it get reversed and actual loss or profit on foreign currency only gets booked on realization.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • Check Amount is clearing and posting to same Bank Sub A/c In FCHR

    Hi,
Can any one explain the reason for the below issue in my Bank Accounting?
when check is cleared using FCHR, Check Amount is not moving From Bank Sub A/c (Checks Issued A/c ) to Bank Main A/c.
Check Amount is clearing and posting to same Bank Sub A/c. I have checked all the setings are fine (Posting Rules also fine).
    Thanks

    Hi Chandra,
Thats right. You would anyways do a bank recon at which point these are moved into the bank main account.
