BAPI/FM to update Technical Objects in VA41/42

Hi,
I need to update the Equipment and Functional Location for an item using the Technical Objects options... in the VA41/42.
Is there a BAPI which update this Info. I am using the BAPI BAPI_CONTRACT_CREATEFROMDATA, to create it, but it does not accept the Technical objects.

Urgent - BDC program to update technical objects using transaction VA42

Hi,
Currently my program updates technical objects details at item level as well as BOM header level.
But my client insists on updating at contract level i.e when u go to va42 transaction and without selecting any item, we need to go to menu,technical objects where the client wants all the items to be displayed.
How to do this way?, is it possible, please advise on this regard.

I went into va42 and tried to extras->technical objects but it saying to select the item. Without selecting any item it is not going into technical objects.
You can only do BDC if is possible manually, since its not possible you cannot do BDC for that.

I want to create quotation in r/3 using Bapi
I have already identiifed BAPI_QUOTATION_CREATEFROMDATA for the same. Its working.
Now i want to add technical objects to every line items.
Can someone help me how to automate this?
Do i write a BDC or is there any other bapi or any other way?

I need to check whether a particular Equipment/Tech Object is already linked to any other existing Sales Document based on Sales Doc Type while saving. If so i need to raise an error and stop the VA41/VA42 Save.
I tried USER EXIT SAVE DOCUMENT PREPARE under SAPMV45A but i cant access the Tech Objects attached which is under SAPLIWOL.
Kindly advise me how to access Tech Objects data from SAPMV45A under SAVE DOCUMENT PREPARE or any better option is there.

Instead of validating technical object, you can try to validate the technical field name which would be very much available in the user exit.

Through standard configuration, it is not possible. However, you can try with any of the following exits
USEREXIT_MOVE_FIELD_TO_VBAP or
USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT
in the program MV45AFZZ where your technical team needs to validate those required fields as mandatory which is quite possible through coding.

How can I update an object and its nested collection- Agengy, SMP 3.0

I have two objects: PurchaseOrders and PurchaseItems. 1 PurchaseOrder has more than 1 PurchaseItems. In my Java code, I create a Item array in PurchaseOrder object to store the PurchaseItems.
What I want to do is to update the PurchaseOrder object. There are 2 things I have to do:
Update PurchaseOrder object.
Update an existing PurchaseItem of the PurchaseOrder and/or create a new PurchaseItem of that PurchaseOrder?
I already created a Bapi Java class to edit a selected PO and every Item of that PO on my device.
What should I do next with the Agentry? Any help is appreciated.. Thank you very much.

The process is virtually identical. The only difference will be in your BAPI logic which you have already written. You will connect it just like you are doing for the Add scenario. Once you get that working this should follow a very similar pattern.

Swapping Technical Objects on Service Contract (VA42)

Hi,
I need to develop a funtion that will swap Technical Objects on Contracts. The reason for the change is a swap of equipment under warranty.
I have been looking at the IWOL function group trying to determine if the needed functions are there. Has anyone else done this before? If so, which BAPIs did you use to perfom this process?

The main contract data is stored in VBAK/VBAP, that is correct.
I'm not sure of all of the tables associated with the Technical Object link. Here's some that I've found in my search.
EQUI, contains the equipment (technical objects)
SER02, gives OBKNR(s) by sdaufnr(vbeln) and posnr.
OBJK, gives SERNR(s) by OBKNR.
There are probably more tables involved, I can't say for certain. There must be another table that links EQUI-EQUNR with either SER02 or OBJK.
Note: Just to clarify what it is I'm trying to do. What I need to do is to add a new Technical Object to an existing Contract Line item. And delete and existing Technical Object from an existing Contract Line item.

Technical objects from contracts

I am trying to update the partners on an equipment master based on the partners assigned to the line item of an SD contract , the equipment is linked to the contract line item in the technical objects. does anyone know of an exit that will allow for this or the internal table that hold the link between the technical object and the contract item ?

You can create a User Exit in CMOD for the 2LIS_11_VAITM DataSource to get the data. There should be a 1:1 (equi or inner join) or 0:1 (outer join) relationship of the data that you want to include, so that you don't create duplicate data.
Another option would be to create generic DataSources and join the data in BW.

WCM: Operational Class assignment to Technical Objects

Greetings Experts, Gurus and SAP Sages!
In WCM, we are able to create an Operational Class to restrict the particular Operational Conditions & Operational Groups that are relevant for the Technical Objects.
But I am having difficulty uderstanding the practicality of this assignment:
Is the assignment only made directly, by assiging an existing Technical Object (FL or EQ) to the Operational Class via transaction WCC8 ? If so, then how can we handle new master data? If a new FL or EQ is created, do we always need to run WCC8 again?
As far as I know, an Operational Class is different from a Class in the sense of the Classification functionality, so we can't assign the Operational Conditions & Operational Groups to any existing Class of type 002 or 003, nor can we assign the Operational Class when creating a Technical Object in IL01 or IE01.
So what is the purpose? Is there any automatic or indirect assignment possible? Or perhaps an enhancement is needed, to automatically assign a new FL or EQ to the OC based on some attributes?

The root of this requirement is actually the rather sketchy quality of the TO master data. Therefore, it's not possible to assign all the necessary Technical Objects to the Operational Class now, as more Technical Objects will be created as the solution matures. And going into WCC8 each time when the FL or EQ is created will be very cumbersome and prone to error.
I'm actually thinking of utilizing User Exits to assign the Technical Object to Operational Class via a custom logic (based on Class or Object Type, as you rightly suggest).

Hi Saish,
As wolfgang told you can use BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE. Read this documentation.
This BAPI changes an existing classification, or creates the classification if it does not yet exist. The classification is defined by the required entry fields for the object key (ObjectKey), object table (ObjectTable), class name (AllocDetail-Class_Num), and class type (AllocDetail-Class_Type). The default value for the optional date field (KeyDate) is the system date, on which all classifications become valid. The new characteristics and/or values are transferred to different tables according to data type. Numeric, time, and date characteristics are transferred to table AllocValuesNumNew, character and boolean characteristics are transferred to table AllocValuesCharNew, and currency characteristics are transferred to AllocValuesCurrNew.

this error is misleading error message from SRM SIDE . click follow on document icon via monitor sc. you will get real error message in application monitor or rz20.
check the real error message in rz20.

We are using BAPI_CONTRACT_CREATEFROMDATA to create contract. While loading, we need to update Equipment Number (Tecnical Objects) into too. However, wea re unable to map the field. Any help?

EEM to update an object group

I've been playing around with EEMs on and off for a few months now, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit! A recent issue at work got me thinking, and I thought I'd try and solve the problem with a new EEM. It's really quite simple, but I'm having trouble getting it to work as intended.
Device Specs:
On a CISCO881-SEC-K9 running:
Embedded Event Manager Version 4.00
Component Versions:
eem: (rel6)1.0.0
eem-gold: (rel1)1.0.2
eem-call-home: (rel2)1.0.4
Problem:
I'd like to create an EEM that checks the IP of a website a few times a day, and cross references the results with the IPs listed in an object group. If the new IP isn't listed, it will add it to the object group. If it is detected, it won't do anything. (I have this e-mailing either way right now, to assist me with debugging)
Reasoning:
I'd like to see if this is something I can do with an EEM. It would be nice to have something dynamically configured to make updates like this. At the end of the day, It mimics a feature on some firewalls. I'd like for this to get around the limitations of a static ACL entry. I haven't looked into TCL scripting, as It would be a new language that I'd have to learn. The beauty of EEM, is that it builds off of what a technician already knows. If you understand IOS, EEM is relatively easy to pickup and run with.
Side Note: If you see something in my script that could be consolidated, or just doesn't make much sense; please let me know. There is a really good chance that I don't know of the alternative method. This is especially true in terms of my regular expression knowledge. That's an ongoing battle :)

Well, it's technically "working", but not in the way that it's designed. It checks the object group, but it only finds the first IP listed. I'll provide you with the object group it's generated so far, and what I'm receiving in my e-mails.
(I don't think my regular expressions are working correctly.)

Here are the successful e-mails sent to me. As you'll see, I've had the EEM include the $current_ips in the e-mail. This should be all of the IPs in the group, but it's just the first one listed (found). So, because it doesn't match, it adds the newly found IP to the group.
But, as you can see in my emails, that IP has been found before and added already. The desired behavior is it for it to see that the entry already exists, and not apply it.
Edit: Thought this would help:
Step 1: Ping www.google.com.
Step 2: Use regular expression to capture the IP found.
Step 3: Run a show command, and find all of the IPs currently listed inside the object group: self_building
Step 4: Cross reference the newly found IP, with the IPs found in the object group.
Step 5: If it's already there, then discard it and end the EEM.
Step 5 (a) If it's not there, then add it to the object group, and then end the EEM.
