  • Is Distributed Transaction Coordinator services of the application role are required by SQL Server 2012 for clustering and support of SharePoint 2013.

    All I want to know is if Distributed Transaction Coordinator services of the application role are required by SQL Server 2012 for clustering and support of SharePoint 2013.
    I have been planning and deploying my companies first Windows Server 2012/SQL Server 2012 Always On cluster and Always On Availability Groups Multi-Subnet cluster and instances for SharePoint 2013, and I will be brutally honest, the documentation on either
    the MSDN and TechNet leave alot to be desired. Continually finding links in the documentation will take me from a Windows 2012 reference to a page talking about Windows Server 2008 or R2, The differences of which there are so many when it comes to configurations,
    settings, roles, services when working with SQL Server 2012. I have been confused, frustrated, screaming mad, with all the misdirection in this documentation.  The documentation takes me windows 2008 R2 which is different than 2012!
    Tired and trying to pick myself up off the floor!

    In general, DTC is not required for SQL 2012.  But, since you are asking specifically about SharePoint, it would be better to ask in a SharePoint forum.  They would be more likely to know those situations where FTC might be needed by SharePoint.

  • Authorizations for which transactions are required in BW?

    Hi,
    Can any ony please give some information regarding
    Authorizations for which transactions are required in BW Production Support?
    Regards,
    Aryan

    Hi Aryan,
    Authorizations for the following transactions are required in BW
    1. RSA1
    2. SM37
    3. ST22
    4. ST04
    5. SE38
    6. SE37
    7. SM12
    8. RSKC
    9. SM51
    10. RSRV
    11.RSPC
    13.RSMON
    The Process Chain Maintenance (transaction RSPC) is used to define, change and view process chains.
    Upload Monitor (transaction RSMO or RSRQ (if the request is known)
    The Workload Monitor (transaction ST03) shows important overall key performance indicators (KPIs) for the system performance
    The OS Monitor (transaction ST06) gives you an overview on the current CPU, memory, I/O and network load on an application server instance.
    The database monitor (transaction ST04) checks important performance indicators in the database, such as database size, database buffer quality and database indices.
    The SQL trace (transaction ST05) records all activities on the database and enables you to check long runtimes on a DB table or several similar accesses to the same data.
    The ABAP runtime analysis (transaction SE30)
    The Cache Monitor (accessible with transaction RSRCACHE or from RSRT) shows among other things the cache size and the currently cached queries. The Export/Import Shared buffer determines the cache size; it should be at least 40MB.

    Not a nice answer!
    Posting "Check the 'More like this'" area and not simply providing the answer is a great way to make these groups worthless.
    You're ignoring context.  On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers.  The new Apple Support Communities made things worse by introducing certain inefficiencies.  Then came Lion.  The flood of messages that came with Lion required a painful choice for any of the people who had been helping here: (1) Give quality responses to a few questions and ignore the rest.  (2) When applicable, give a brief answer such as the one that you found objectionable.  (3) Give up all the other normal activities of life and spend full time trying to answer questions here.
    People who needed help with Lion problems seemed to have trouble discovering existing message threads that described how to solve their problems.  I never posted the suggestion of "Check the 'More like this' area" without verifying that the help that the poster needed could be found there.  Even doing that, what I posted saved me time that I could use to help someone else.
    The people helping here are all volunteers.  None of them is being paid for the time they spend here.  They all have a life outside of Apple Support Communities.  It's arrogant of you to demand that people helping here spend more time than they already do.

  • What file/registry permissions are required to run MultiSim 7 as a regular user?

    I want to be able to run MultiSim 7 as a regular user (since our students obviously do not have administrative permissions/rights).
    I can't quite figure out what file and registry permissions are required to be able to do this (despite using Filemon and Regmon).

    Hi,
    If you are refering to the "failed to update registry" warning message, do this:
    1.  Click Start-->Run
    2.  Type "regedt32"
    3.  Locate HKEY_Classes_Root/Multisim.Document
    4.  On the menu, select Security-->Permission (win 2000), For  XP select Edit-->Permission
    5.  Give full control for everyone
    6.  Repeat step 3-->5 for:
    HKEY_Classes_Root/CLSID/{2D964073-9BC9-11D1-840B-006008AC6551}

  • JDeveloper Error: White spaces are required between publicId and systemId.

    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.
    This error is occurring in a BPEL process project.
    With one particular web service I have, adding a Partner Link to the BPEL generates the following compile error:
    Error: White spaces are required between publicId and systemId.
    I can add Partner links from other web services and the BPEL will compile fine. The main difference I can see is that this web service supports WS-Addressing.
    I have found one other reference to a similar (but not exactly the same) problem elsewhere in these forums but the fix is not really applicable. All of the wsdl files pass the "Validate WSDL" operation, and I don't see anything wrong with them.
    When the error occurs and I select "Go To Source" it points back to the first line of the bpel file.
    Can anyone help me out on this?

    I have discovered two issues.
    1. JDeveloper does not seem to like the SOAP 1.2 envelope and encoding namespaces. Is this a known limitation? Changed them to 1.1.
    2. JDeveloper does not like the double definition of wsaDemoResult.
    When these two items are changed, the bpel compiles clean. Now I've got to get the message header to populate correctly. There are no values assigned, only namespace definitions. This is the SOAP packet that is received at the web service.

    Hello,
    Usually Bapi's are non Dalog oriented,but why do we have  chckbox named " Dialog " in Bapi Explorer
    Transaction.Whats the use of this Dialog checkbox ?
    Please explain it clearly..
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    Contrary to what many expect, BAPI can have a dialog just like other applications. A good example of one such BAPI is BAPI_MATERIAL_DISPLAY. When ever dialogs are required, we can use such a BAPI!!

    <!-- mirrors
    | This is a list of mirrors to be used in downloading artifacts from remote repositories.
    |
    | It works like this: a POM may declare a repository to use in resolving certain artifacts.
    | However, this repository may have problems with heavy traffic at times, so people have mirrored
    | it to several places.
    |
    | That repository definition will have a unique id, so we can create a mirror reference for that
    | repository, to be used as an alternate download site. The mirror site will be the preferred
    | server for that repository.

    <!-- profiles
    | This is a list of profiles which can be activated in a variety of ways, and which can modify
    | the build process. Profiles provided in the settings.xml are intended to provide local machine-
    | specific paths and repository locations which allow the build to work in the local environment.
    |
    | For example, if you have an integration testing plugin - like cactus - that needs to know where
    | your Tomcat instance is installed, you can provide a variable here such that the variable is
    | dereferenced during the build process to configure the cactus plugin.
    |
    | As noted above, profiles can be activated in a variety of ways. One way - the activeProfiles
    | section of this document (settings.xml) - will be discussed later. Another way essentially
    | relies on the detection of a system property, either matching a particular value for the property,
    | or merely testing its existence. Profiles can also be activated by JDK version prefix, where a
    | value of '1.4' might activate a profile when the build is executed on a JDK version of '1.4.2_07'.
    | Finally, the list of active profiles can be specified directly from the command line.
    |
    | NOTE: For profiles defined in the settings.xml, you are restricted to specifying only artifact
    | repositories, plugin repositories, and free-form properties to be used as configuration
    | variables for plugins in the POM.
    |
    |-->
    <profiles>
    <!-- profile
    | Specifies a set of introductions to the build process, to be activated using one or more of the
    | mechanisms described above. For inheritance purposes, and to activate profiles via <activatedProfiles/>
    | or the command line, profiles have to have an ID that is unique.
    |
    | An encouraged best practice for profile identification is to use a consistent naming convention
    | for profiles, such as 'env-dev', 'env-test', 'env-production', 'user-jdcasey', 'user-brett', etc.
    | This will make it more intuitive to understand what the set of introduced profiles is attempting
    | to accomplish, particularly when you only have a list of profile id's for debug.
    |
    | This profile example uses the JDK version to trigger activation, and provides a JDK-specific repo.
    <profile>
    <id>jdk-1.4</id>
    <activation>
    <jdk>1.4</jdk>
    </activation>
    <repositories>
    <repository>
    <id>jdk14</id>
    <name>Repository for JDK 1.4 builds</name>
    <url>http://www.myhost.com/maven/jdk14</url>
    <layout>default</layout>
    <snapshotPolicy>always</snapshotPolicy>
    </repository>
    </repositories>
    </profile>
    -->
    <!--
    | Here is another profile, activated by the system property 'target-env' with a value of 'dev',
    | which provides a specific path to the Tomcat instance. To use this, your plugin configuration
    | might hypothetically look like:
    |
    | ...
    | <plugin>
    | <groupId>org.myco.myplugins</groupId>
    | <artifactId>myplugin</artifactId>
    |
    | <configuration>
    | <tomcatLocation>${tomcatPath}</tomcatLocation>
    | </configuration>
    | </plugin>
    | ...
    |
    | NOTE: If you just wanted to inject this configuration whenever someone set 'target-env' to
    | anything, you could just leave off the <value/> inside the activation-property.
    |
    <profile>
    <id>env-dev</id>
    <activation>
    <property>
    <name>target-env</name>
    <value>dev</value>
    </property>
    </activation>
    <properties>
    <tomcatPath>/path/to/tomcat/instance</tomcatPath>

  • BAPI or RFC Required to in ABAP webdynpro

    Hi All,
    I am new to the ABAP webdynpro. But i have experience in JAVA webdynpro. In JAVA WD , will access the back system functionality using RFC. But if comes to ABAP WD, is it required the RFC or BAPI?
    If required why it is required? what is the advantage of using the BAPI or RFC in ABAP webdynpro? Because ABAP WD is running on the same system.
    If not required ? what is the advantages of with out using BAPI's
    Please let me know what are pros and cons for the using the BAPI or RFC in ABAP WD.
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi vijay,
    Firstly welcome to our webdynpro learning world . :).  As you said you are already aware of the wendynpro java . Almost all same functinality it follows as webdynpro abap, the thing which it differs is
    for java to interact with the RFC or the Bapis u need to interact with the other engine but since u are working into the same area line webdynpro abap need not calll any other specific engine as the RFC or teh BAPI s reside in the same workspace . Simple!.
    Hope you are aware of the MVC functionality which our webdynpro follows so these bapis and RFCs firstly they are reusable and the other importance is generally we run our webdynpro applications by embeding our applications into portal so for that sake we make our (rfc and BAPI s )are remote enabled.
    such that our webdynpro applications run .
    Hope it would help you .
    Happy learning.   Have a Good Day!
    Regards,
    Sana.
